Israel is at war with Gaza. However , this has dragged other countries in the area as well.
weve heard about the problems in West Bank (there is a thread) but also Lebanon where civilians have been killed and journalists have been targeted and killed

they’ve also attacked several airports in Siria.

ive read in the past there was a conflict as well with Yemen and read now this” Yemen's Houthis warn they will target all ships headed to Israel”

it doesn’t sound that post this war living in Israel is going to be safer than before

Yemen's Houthis warn they will target all ships headed to Israel

Yemen's Houthi movement said on Saturday they would target all ships heading to Israel, regardless of their nationality, and warned all international shipping companies against dealing with Israeli ports.

@EllaDisenchanted I heard some of the men killed yesterday had only been in Israel for a couple of weeks. What a tragedy!

Attempted terrorist attack in Jerusalem. Two people stabbed but expected to survive. Terrorist attempted to stab civilians at a checkpoint.

The shooting wasn’t a terrorism incident. Stabbing attack was.

@stomachamaleon Netanyahu undermined the alternatives for decades and supported Hamas to prevent the two state solution . The only alternative is to support corrupt PA that kowtows to Israel, the country that has massacred 1% of Gaza and continues to kill an average of 250 people a day, mostly innocent civilians.

The implication of your post is that is that collective punishment is acceptable which it isn’t- it’s a war crime.

By extension, if you think that it is morally justifiable for innocent civilians to be used as pawns, you are also justifying the holding of innocent hostages from 7/10.

I don't understand whether this is considered normal in Israel? I can't imagine it being acceptable in the UK, it would cause huge public concern if 12 year olds were shot dead for setting off fireworks. But instead there is Ben Gvir calling the soldier who shot the child 'heroic.' I am really at a loss for words as to how such actions can become normalised and cause, apparently, no questions.

You think Ben Gvir represents most Israelis?

stomachamelon · 15/03/2024 17:57

@Kindatired there is no 'implication'. I reposted an article.

You have no need to put words in my mouth regarding innocent civilians or hostages.

stormy4319trevor · 15/03/2024 19:00

@DustyDustyDusty I have no idea, I think not. He seems extreme, but are there any politicians expressing concern at this kind of policing? Or any protests? I truly do not understand how this is acceptable.

Kindatired · 15/03/2024 19:29

Thanks for clarifying @stomachamelon . I’m glad that your link to a Times of Israel article was for information purposes. Forgive me if I interpreted it as implying you wanted us to think “serve them right ”.
