See my previous post as I’ve responded to this before and research the timelines !
and actions
As I have done I therefore disagree with your post 🤷‍♀️

You can disagree all you want. It's a free world here.

Banned for possibly mentioning them.

But why?
Its not against MN rules to mention being part of a religion…..not that I’m aware of anyway.
Many people don’t of course as it’s outing perhaps, but not against any rules or guidelines.

your choice to keep it personal of course as the thread is about how the world is showing support for Palestinians anyway.

I’m just interested in whether Islamic countries are genuinely concerned about ‘occupation and oppression’ or whether it’s actually just a concern over furthering the territories of Islam, and therefore Ukraine is irrelevant to them.

I'm not sure why that should affect those of us in non Islamist Countries? I mean should I not care about the Palestinian people because Iran don't display banners supporting Ukraine? Is that what you are saying? How odd!

I’m saying if you take a step back, the ‘support’ only ever flows toward Islamic countries, who would never show you the same concern in return. It’s painful to watch.

The reasons I care about tens of thousands of innocent civilians being killed (mostly women and children), have got nothing to do with demanding something in return! It's not like I'm going to see those maimed and orphaned kids, or those people burning alive in a refugee camp, and say "hmmph who cares, what have they ever done for me"!!

Wildflowers99 · 24/02/2025 16:08

I care about the individuals killed, particularly the children, but I don’t see this as a good reason to create another Sharia state. I think people need to be careful with confusing their emotions over the killed/injured with their support for the actual consequences of an independent Palestine.

Not a reason to allow the Palestinians to be ethnically cleansed, or for another Country to rule their land. There are lots of Countries where I might not agree with how they run things, doesn't mean those Countries shouldn't exist.

In this particular case the country concerned wants to eliminate Israel and all Jews. It is in the Hamas Charter and Hamas is the ruling body in Gaza.

Where are you getting your information on this from? I read a guardian poll today which said 1 in 4 support sharia law that is not a majority. Link below.

You obviously don't support a two state solution so what do you support?

I wonder what Israel illegally invading the West Bank, killing burning and maiming the inhabitants means, hardly the friendly neighbours are they, seems there's two sides to this..

Polka83 · 24/02/2025 16:32

@Wildflowers99
this is the second thread you are now arguing the world doesn’t need another Sharia state.
Given that this is something you are keen to discuss- what is you alternative to Palestinians having their own state?

It's not like Hamas are definitely going to rule forever, Palestine could be supported to have a democratic election with a viable alternative. And I doubt very much the average Palestinian wants to eradicate Israel, however Israel have certainly done their best to eradicate Gaza....

When asked what would be a “realistic and acceptable” ending to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, just under half of the population said some division of territory between Israel and Palestine, either along the pre-1967 borders or those suggested by the UN in 1947, while slightly more than half preferred a dissolution of Israel, with a single Palestinian state under Islamic law the most preferred solution of all. The least preferred was a single democratic state with equal rights for Arabs and Jews.

The survey also showed that a significant proportion feel that rule by Islamic law – a key part of the ideology of Hamas – is important and that around half believe that a military solution is more likely than a diplomatic solution. For most in Gaza too, the Palestinian-Israel conflict is primarily religious rather than political, the survey suggested

A poll by PCPSR released in September shows 39% in Gaza supported the attacks by Hamas into Israel in October 2023 that triggered the conflict, 32 percentage points lower than six months earlier. Hamas killed 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducted 250 in the attack, while the ensuing Israeli offensive cost the lives of more than 48,000 Palestinians, mostly civilians, and devastated swaths of the territory.

I don’t think they want a liberal, democratic state in harmony with an Israeli neighbour.

1dayatatime · 24/02/2025 18:14

@Wildflowers99

"I don’t think they want a liberal, democratic state in harmony with an Israeli neighbour"

The naivety is astonishing- either that or it's a denial of reality because it doesn't fit their wider ideology.

It's a bit like "Queers for Gaza".

Wildflowers99 · 24/02/2025 18:30

I think so many posters are filled with self loathing over Colonialism etc that their default position is to side with whoever is the least ‘Western’ side, without any critical thought.

Polka83 · 24/02/2025 18:35

@Wildflowers99
such is the white man’s burden 🤣
please let us know what your alternative proposition to a Palestinian state - you are yet to enlighten us with an alternative

It's in the Likud charter to get rid of Palestine too.
Which are the ruling body in Israel.

Same mission on both sides

I always think this outright support for Palestine is a very handy way of outing f**ts.
Remember that Celtic supporters waved Palestinian flags immediately after Oct 7th, before any retaliation from Israel.

The irony is any Scottish person would be far safer in Israel than Gaza, even without the conflict. They know this. It’s very easy to support them ‘from afar’ as they’ll never have to go there, or come into contact with Hamas and their supporters in any way. I find it quite cowardly.
