@TodayInahurry how are you and others like you continue to comment on Hamas?

how does ceasefire= we don’t care about hostages?

you all have nothing more to hold onto so keep jumping on with the same invalid and weak comment.

caring about the WHOLE of humanity does not equal anti-Semitic which is the other cracker like minded people throw out.

save it cos it’s just not going to sway people anymore. The world is seeing the truth

Efacsen · 11/11/2023 07:11

headhurtstoomuch · 11/11/2023 07:05

You do realise that Israel has thousands of Palestinian hostages right?

Everyone on both sides should be released.

Yesterday it wasn't even possible to get a handful of medical evacuees safely to the Rafah crossing - how would it be possible for nearly 250 hostages to get there in one piece and out of Gaza

No words

BBC News - Macron calls on Israel to stop killing Gaza's women and babies
Tigerteal · 11/11/2023 07:40

@EasterIssland exactly. It needs to stop, there is literally no justification for killing innocent civilians, especially as much as the IDF has done and for those defending those evil
actions are complicit and completely wrong

Ohlalalalala · 11/11/2023 07:43

This is a dystopian nightmare. The whole world watching a genocide unfold in real time. Over a month of it actually. Image after image after image of total chaos; tens of thousands of innocent civilians being murdered before the whole world.

The world is stupefied, shocked beyond words at the depravity, brazeness and total inhumanity of the genociders.

Hospitals, mosques, churches, schools, ambulances, children, babies, elderly are wantonly and brutally destroyed; nothing have any sanctity anymore.

Ice-cream trucks have become temporary morgues; shopping bags are used to transport children's body parts.

International laws are systematically violated and totally ignored.

And yet, "our" "leaders", "leaders of the free world", "democratic leaders", turn a blind eye to what's happening. And here we are, me included, taking one of the "leaders" saying "stop killing babies" after over one month of relentless and frenzied bombardment, as a positive step!

Welcome to dystopia!

So Hamas beheading babies in Israel is OK? You do know Hamas build military HQs under hospitals so the people they don’t care about get killed?

Change the script, FGS

Bonjour...😉

I'm not going to wade through a month's worth of French Presidential Tweets and statements from the Elysee, I'm sure you all can do that...and if you do you'll see he has continually been very very critical of Hamas...

He was still pretty clear on his views on Hamas just two or three days ago at the start of the conference on the conflict when he was reported as saying:

"Hamas “shouldered the responsibility for exposing Palestinians to terrible consequences,” and he again defended Israel’s right to defend itself....

France's Macron opens Gaza aid conference with appeal to Israel to protect civilians

Western and Arab nations, international agencies and nongovernmental groups appealed for urgent aid for Gaza civilians at a Paris conference

Ohlalalalala · 11/11/2023 08:30

"In its 35th day of attacking Gaza, Israel has:

  • killed 11,025 Palestinians; 4506 of them being kids. An additional 2,700 remain trapped under rubble.
  • destroyed 270,00 Palestinian homes;
  • internally displaced 1.6 out of 2.2 million people
Satisfied yet, world?"

time for Biden to change his words …

BBC News - Macron calls on Israel to stop killing Gaza's women and babies
Zonder · 11/11/2023 08:39

This is incredible. Michelle Salzman should be prosecuted for this.

Parkingt111 · 11/11/2023 08:58

@Zonder exactly Rashida Said from the river to the sea.. and there was outrage
Whilst she openly says this with nowhere near enough reproach

TokyoSushi · 11/11/2023 09:05

This whole thing is just nuts. Really, really bad.

What Hamas did was horrific, abominable, beyond the pale, really really awful, it truly was.

But this response is just insane and I can't quite believe it's happening. Israel have basically trapped 2m people in a tiny area and are bombing them into oblivion. At least at the start, the West were basically standing on the sidelines saying 'go on then, do it, do it!'

Hamas need to be stopped, Gaza needs to have a free and fair election, both sides need to be allowed to live in peace and security.

The ideation that Israel and all Jews should be wiped off the map is abhorrent.

All of these things are true, I'm not sure at all how to achieve it, but surely this is not the way.

@notimagain it’s interesting to hear from a domestic pov from France

I haven’t been following much but I think marches were banned from the Palestinian perspective but there is a march tomorrow against antisemitism

Do you think Macron might be feeling the heat in terms of potential public disorder, and with two large Muslim and Jewish groups it’s a way to try and pour some water on domestic issues?

TokyoSushi · 11/11/2023 09:12

I see Antony Blinken is also now saying 'far too many Palestinians have been killed.' I expect a lot of people are now going to start gently rowing back on their position. But it very much seems like too little too late. It was only a few short weeks ago that they were fully behind the retaliation.

Not sure how much heat he is feeling but he certainly has to tread carefully.

hulahello · 11/11/2023 09:43

I suspect all the Western leaders have seen how outraged the public are about this and are quietly scaling back their war crime approval. Behind the scenes they are probably crapping themselves at being implicated in this shitstorm.

War crimes cannot be kept in secrecy and people see what is going on.

Hamas is a deemed a ‘terrorist’ organisation and is Israel is not. You can’t expect terrorists to be held to the same standard as Israel.
The West have been fully behind Israel . However, it is now time for the West to
condemn the continued bombing of innocent Palestinians .
It is a travesty that so many people are losing their lives while the West sit by and watch the decimation

We need to stop saying all "Western leaders" because that is inaccurate. It has been noted upthread Ireland's, Spain's, Belgium's, Scotland's leaders and others have been calling for a humanitarian ceasefire for weeks. Unfortunately they don't hold as much sway as the big hitters US, France, Germany but it's important to acknowledge their position. I'm in Ireland and you'd be shocked by the language used about us in news interviews with the Israeli ambassador and an IDF spokesperson the other day.

Ohlalalalala · 11/11/2023 11:04

OH MY GOD !!!

That Michelle Salzman is absolutely a disgusting MONSTER! To say what she said and so brazenly!

We need more politicians like Angie Nixon who don't freeze their humanity for political gain.

Sanctions for Israel need to happen now. Israel needs to be called out as Russia was over Ukraine. No more US aid, no more UK/US arms trade. Israel need cut off.

I am not sure how on earth you can compare the two situations. They're not the same. Israel does not need to be cut off, any more than the aid going to Gaza despite Hamas presence would need to be.

Israel should have been told before now that its response was disproportionate, by every major western leader. That could have been done while also supporting their right to defend themselves, as America did when they were a victim of terrorism.

War crimes is what the 2 countries have in common.
