Israel-Palestine crisis: “Enough is enough” state UN agencies, NGOs

"Almost twenty heads of United Nations agencies and partner NGOs launched a new call on Sunday for a humanitarian ceasefire. "

"Scores of aid workers have been killed since October 7 including 88 UNRWA colleagues – the highest number of United Nations fatalities ever recorded in a single conflict."

And I think it's very naive to suggest Hamas are committing attacks because they are Jewish (although of course this is what government hasbara states). Their charter makes this clear. They are doing it because the occupying state and force happen to be Jewish people, which has resulted in the continued oppression and severe human rights violations for Palestinians.

Yes I do believe Hamas and resultant attacks are the result of decades of oppression, violence, murder of Palestinian people. Neither Israel nor Hamas are right, but from a epistiological view of terrorism, the creation of Hamas is not in any way unsurprising.

WTF is an 'epistiological view of terrorism'???

feralunderclass · 14/11/2023 12:00

Sorry autocorrect 🙄 Epistemological.

Ah yes . The notoriously unbiased Al Jazeera...

Might as well be Hamas putting out those figures.

All verified !
Just waiting for more pre school Israeli lies. None of which can be independently verified….they’ve killed most of the press !

I am sorry if I come across as not giving a shit about Palestinian lives, or babies, or whatever. But it is hard in the current circumstances not to feel that every post regurgitating kill counts is just letting Hamas pull the strings, playing entirely into their propaganda game.

You do come across that way. And if something quacks and waddles, it's a duck.

Never posted on MN before, prolific poster now, pro-Israel, very dismissive of child deaths in Palestine, disingenuous posting style...

Never posted on MN before...?!??!? OK...

"very dismissive of child deaths in Palestine"
Absolutely not. Just challenging the narrative about how they came to die. Actually, rather fed up of being kicked around by posters who either can't or won't see the point I'm trying to make.

My posting style can't be helped, that is the way I always express myself. When I'm not quacking, obviously. 🦆🦆🦆

How can you challenge the narrative in which they died? Israel killed them. There's nothing to challenge, they say it themselves!
ETA: These are children, have a bit of humanity.

Well, we've all been discussing all this for a month and if you still can't see any nuances in the situation, then there's no point me trying to explain them.

Why don't you have a bit of humanity by not aggressively attacking other posters? Why does "having a bit of humanity" mean that I must accept your histrionic and limited view of how these poor children ended up deaed?

There's no histrionics or aggression on my part. I'm not sure why you are thinking that. These are children, and they are dead. Killed because one of the world's most powerful armies, backed by other superpowers, killed them. I don't see any "nuances" in that. This is not my "limited view", it is an undisputed fact. These aren't soldiers, where perhaps you might be able to "challenge the narrative". Your posts just reiterate that you think these children are somehow responsible and that we need to look at their deaths from a different angle.

Alcemeg · 14/11/2023 17:56

"Your posts just reiterate that you think these children are somehow responsible"
... just shows that there is absolutely no point me attempting to explain anything to you. Honestly, I have tried!

Yes there are individuals who think the Palestinian children have bought it upon themselves. They very much exist. https://youtube.com/shorts/qdzUHrn2GYs?si=IqLTuCpGlpY8txnk

I can't watch it, it would make me so angry, but WHY are Palestinians (even the children) despised so much by Israel? I can't imagine having that much hate in my heart...

For me, these are children, who are always innocent civilians, so there is no point in any of us "trying to explain" reasons why they might be dead, other than the actual cause of death. I'm not honestly sure why anyone would think any child's death is "nuanced".

I'm sure there are (there are plenty of nutters around!), but I do resent being assumed to be one of them just because no one can be bothered to read or get their head round what I've actually said...!

I suppose this is the snag with MN posts - keeping them short and sweet can backfire. In an ideal world, everyone would have all my posts together in one place, perhaps printed off and bound into an attractive volume that you can read from cover to cover without interruption. You'd hopefully get a different impression eventually 😜

This politicians words are very representative of Israel. Spewing hatred towards the 'other', then insisting they are the peaceful ones. This sort kill Palestinian children then completely turn themselves into the victim and cry and say "it's because we are Jews/they want to kill us/we are the only people without a homeland/antisemitism!". The government must give out a script, because it's the same hasbara again and again.

Parkingt111 · 14/11/2023 18:41

That's not the only politician either. There's loads of them dishing out endless hate. They don't even try and hide their contempt of the gazans. I saw a family member of one of the hostages call out an Israeli politician yesterday. He said imagine how we feel hearing you say you are going to to flatten and raze Gaza to the ground when we know that our family are there and what that will do to them

Well, you blame Israel and I blame Hamas.

I never directed that in response to you. I put that out there to show that many Israeli are of this mindset at the moment. She’s a woman in a position of power with an audience, not just some random and occasional nut case causing mischief at a march or protest.
I haven’t read all your posts, but I am certain you’re not anywhere near as extreme as her. This woman is on another level altogether.

However, there is one poster with extreme racist views against the Palestinian people on this board. Her posts have started to sound more and more like she’s gets a thrill or kick every time the death toll of innocent children rises. I may direct it towards her if she posts about the children in a sadistic way again.

Yep. Watch this next video and you will see and hear the evil from their mouths. Once again these aren’t random screw loose individuals, these are people in positions of power who have an audience, powerful voice and influence the people of Israel.

I know exactly who you mean, the things they come out with are vile. I actually hope they're a troll and no-one actually thinks like that, but I'm not so sure.

Israel whine about Hamas wanting to wipe them off the face of the earth when in reality that’s exactly what they are doing to the Palestinian people. Hamas haven’t got the firepower, Israel has. It’s so obvious and anyone defending them should be ashamed. The pro-zionists are disgusting, celebrating the murder of children. Vile.

These are more or less my thoughts now. I've posted a lot less recently as seeing anyone defend the IDF at this point is sickening. I do still read the news as I want to keep up to date for various reasons, but even that is difficult.

Biden is being sued for failure to prevent a genocide.

The below article notes:
a state’s ‘obligation to prevent, and the corresponding duty to act, arise at the instant that the state learns of, or should normally have learned of, the existence of a serious risk that genocide will be committed’,” the lawsuit said.

I may be cynical of our leaders and their motives, but it is interesting how the rhetoric of world leaders is changing and I do think they are beginning to look at their own legal obligations, as well as think about the humanitarian crisis from a moral point of view.

The Tories have gone against Bojo’s previously stated view that the ICC has no jurisdiction in Israel.
