Israel-Palestine crisis: “Enough is enough” state UN agencies, NGOs

"Almost twenty heads of United Nations agencies and partner NGOs launched a new call on Sunday for a humanitarian ceasefire. "

"Scores of aid workers have been killed since October 7 including 88 UNRWA colleagues – the highest number of United Nations fatalities ever recorded in a single conflict."

I think I will trust the UN over you.

@bearofepic , how surprising.

AbsoluteYawns · 06/11/2023 20:12

@PurpleChrayne
It's so sad to realise that's what it is really about. I'm with you and see them too.

bearofepic · 06/11/2023 20:16

@AbsoluteYawns This thread is about exposing war crimes against Palestinian children and innocent civilians, as it's the highest number of UN fatalities ever recorded in a single conflict.

PurpleChrayne · 06/11/2023 18:42

The sheet OBSESSION with this conflict on Mumsnet is staggering. There are other wars happening; other countries ejecting refugees and killing people. Why is this one being pored over with such glee?

I ask why, but I know.

People have clearly been waiting for an opportunity to let their Jew-hate run free.

I see you.

It won't be forgotten.

Being pored over with such glee? You should be utterly ashamed of yourself. And while you are at it, please refrain from coming on every thread to wonder about why people are OBSESSED with this conflict. Take your own advice and contribute to other threads about other conflicts instead of accusing people of "Jew hatred" and trying to shut down discussion.

What is it really about? Would you sit quietly and say nothing if your homeland was attacked? Would you like me to do that? I won't.

You have to be capable of emotions to feel shame. As I said elsewhere there is a heartlessness and lack of humanity in some of these comments, which reflects badly on the posters which the majority of the world can see and are horrified by.

bearofepic · 06/11/2023 20:30

@BelleHathor indeed, as I said upthread, those shouting "racism" whilst heartlessly trying to derail these threads which highlight Palestinian deaths should look in the mirror.

@Thisonesforyoumate Sorry? You're mistaken. I've not posted on any specific thread about anti-semitism today. I have been trying to highlight derailment and minimisation by pro-Israeli bots and war crime minimisers though, as they seem to have an agenda that I don't agree with, and are happy enough to try to derail the threads I and others post on trying to highlight the plight of the Palestinians.

BelleHathor · 06/11/2023 20:51

@bearofepic Exactly, once you've lost your ability to empathise, what's left.

BTW post as much as you want, those are our taxes being used to wage these atrocities with our permissive government just standing by repeating useless statements such as "Israel has the right to defend itself". Not in my name.

Honestly, I don’t think anyone really cares if you see them or not. Your constant cold dismissals of Palestinian deaths and intensely biased opinions make your views irrelevant to many here. And you have your own obsessive agenda which is tiresome to keep reading.

EasterIssland · 06/11/2023 20:53

@bearofepic continue doing what you’re doing but also , if the name doesn’t sound familiar then check their history in mn The person that was trying to attack you was a brand new account created to attack you … so just report and don’t engage is my recommendation , they’re trying to derail the threads by attacking those that have been in these threads for a while

bearofepic · 06/11/2023 20:57

@EasterIssland and @BelleHathor thank you both for your support.

Hard work this in the face of some of the posts on here.

I see @Thisonesforyoumate 's personal attack has been rightly deleted.

Parkingt111 · 06/11/2023 20:59

It seems even the US Is finally conceding there has been thousands of deaths
They probably realised how daft they look trying to deny it

He/she has done this since day one. Zero compassion for the terrified and murdered children of Gaza. Yet demanding everyone condemns Hamas in every post. Accusing everyone of antisemitism. And reporting threads all over the place (without success). They may run out of steam eventually. Well we can hope.

This 👆🏻

Parkingt111 · 06/11/2023 21:01

As I said before
You wouldn't even need figures from Hamas to know that there has been thousands of deaths
Trying to deny it is just Israeli propaganda

Here we go again. Are there not enough threads already on this issue? They all become echo chambers for people who have a very specific viewpoint. Ive stopped bothering to read them.

Same. War is always vile. But "macabre" is an understatement for what happened on 7 October. What is Israel supposed to do, sit tight and try to make friends?!

Alcemeg · 06/11/2023 21:04

sunshinesupermum · 06/11/2023 17:31

A ceasefire is desperately needed Not until the hostages taken on 7th October are freed and sent home safely.

Pretty sure Hamas would love a ceasefire. Part of me wants it too, just so that we can reap what we sow here.

Bulletin · 06/11/2023 21:05

People on MN are ‘obsessed’ with this because the world/media is preoccupied with this war. Because we know the US and Arab nations are watching and may get involved. Because there may be a world war.

And because we are being beamed images and stories of new daily carnage in Palestine. and people are decent and upset by the horror of it all.

I am a coward and try and avoid much of the reports and have refused to watch videos. But I accidentally saw someone’s video post today of a two year old gazan child literally shaking in terror today. It made me feel sick. If you are not moved by this then there is something wrong with you.

I don’t have the energy to add the usual detailed disclaimers about despising Hamas and feeling anguish for the Israeli hostages but assume it’s there.

Alcemeg · 06/11/2023 21:12

@1234kitty
A few people with phones filming bodies is hardly the same as the $7.1 million that has been openly spent and the tech Israel has.
There's a lot of competition, but this might be one of the sickest things I've ever read on MN.

Always ❤. It's hard, but you're speaking for people who can't be heard right now. The rest is just noise.

They see it and appreciate it (Palestinians from the West Bank often join twitter spaces to tell listeners what's happening).

Ordinary citizens coming together, and pressuring our governments is the only way this will be resolved.

Parking A new poll came out yesterday showing Biden losing to Trump in 4 out of the 6 battleground states. A lot of young people and ethnic minorities won't vote for the Democrats whilst American bombs rain down on Palestinians. Similarly here there are potentially 30 seats that Labour will not be able to win without minority support.

6 warning signs for Biden in new battleground state poll

The toplines are bad for Biden. What’s buried deeper in the poll might be worse.

You being governed by the people who take over when you insist on playing fair against maniacs. Yes, babies etc. But think of the future and how many babies will die if Hamas are treated like a valid political organisation and not like the lunatics they are.
