Israel has bombed the gates of the Al Shalha hospital.

Everyone knows displaced families are sheltering in and near hospitals.

Not sure if relevant, but the Guardian just has a report of Smotrich saying Israel can no longer accept the existence of Gaza and the Gazan people should 'voluntarily emigrate.'

stormy4319trevor · 14/11/2023 13:02

Jeez, they suggest other countries should give Gaza people a financial package, and they should agree to take a proportion each. I mean, I am happy to have them, but it sounds so arrogant and blatant. No offer of compensation from Israel, no acknowledgement of the displacement of people from their homes... Guardian live.

They're very upset at the EU's statement on human shields, understandably. It makes the hospitals a legitimate target.

And the fake propaganda being put out by Israel is fuelling the fire.
I think it’s going to get so much worse. If that’s even possible.

Never in my life did I think I would be forced to witness such horror.

how old are you?

A staggering 315,000 grave violations against children in conflict were verified by the United Nations between 2005 and 2022 worldwide, a stark illustration of the devastating impact of war and conflict on children.
As states, donors and the humanitarian community meet in Norway for the Oslo Conference on Protecting Children in Armed Conflict
, UNICEF has reported that, since monitoring began in 2005 (since 2008 in the case of Iraq), the UN has verified 315,000 grave violations committed by parties to conflict in more than 30 conflict situations across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.
These include:

  • More than 120,000 children killed or maimed.
  • At least 105,000 children recruited or used by armed forces or armed groups.
  • More than 32,500 children abducted.
  • More than 16,000 children subjected to sexual violence.
The UN has also verified globally more than 16,000 attacks on schools and hospitals, and more than 22,000 instances of denial of humanitarian access for children. For Iraq, the numbers are staggering, with over 9,000 children killed or maimed (3,119 killed and 5,938 maimed) since 2008 to the end of 2022. Despite the considerable reduction on the number of reported cases in the last years, the overall number represents, on an average, more than 1 child killed every other day and one child maimed daily over the reported period. As these are just the cases that have been verified, the true toll is likely to be far higher. Additionally, many millions more children have been displaced globally from their homes and communities, lost friends or family, or separated from parents or caregivers.*

Fuck all wars.

does it actually say “ can no longer “
that’s a weird phrase to use as if the Palestinians have slaughtered over 11,300 of their civilians and continue to do so
“ Can no longer” suggests the Palestinian people are the ones committing on going war crimes.

In itself , as a phrase, that’s propaganda

Parkingt111 · 14/11/2023 13:11

@Iwantcakeeveryday if you don't mind this thread is mostly focused on what is currently happening regarding the hospitals in Gaza
Why derail it like this, and turn it into well whatabout this war
You can always start another thread on that

BeggyMitchell · 14/11/2023 13:11

Fake propaganda? So it's not propaganda then? In fact do any of the armchair generals of MN have the slightest idea of what they're talking about?

Propaganda can be real.
Its not all lies.
It becomes propaganda by the way it’s used.

Fake…..means lies.

Not a derail, I was responding to someone. Please don't tell me what to post, you're not a moderator. Its relevant to the conversation and important to remind people. If you're concerned about anyones posts, report them.

Nope, I would say 99.99% of people commenting in this section have no clue

Mmm. It was a derail.
It also tried to minimise a posters shock and grief. So insensitive aswel

but I won’t be wasting posts on this anymore

stormy4319trevor · 14/11/2023 13:19

@Readingallnight Smotrich is quoted on Guardian live feed, you can probably see it still there. I rely mostly on their feed for updates as they are generally accurate.

Please don't tell me what my intentions are. I am making a valid point and everyone on this board should think about all of the children who are victims of war. If you're ignorant enough not to know, I have provided valuable information. People are acting like this is the only war they've been alive for. That is insensitive.

Their statement was awful , but what can you expect after ursulas shit show last month. Not a single word critising Israel’s actions

Parkingt111 · 14/11/2023 13:33

Only 14 hospitals now remain working in Gaza. But even they are barely working. Meanwhile the airstrikes continue even in the south daily where civilians have been told by Israel to go

The World Health Organisation (WHO) said over half of Gaza's hospitals - 22 out of 36 - are now "non-functional".
Posting on X, the WHO said this was due to "lack of fuel, damage, attacks and insecurity".
It said the remaining 14 hospitals have "barely enough supplies" to sustain lifesaving surgeries and provide inpatient care, and it called for an immediate ceasefire.

Bbc, has reported that a mass grave has been dug in Al shifa hospital as it is too unsafe to leave the compound to bury the dead. The initial report stated 170 bodies, it has now been amended to 179 bodies

I agree with @Readingallnight . To try to imply that people on this thread are somehow out of order for highlighting something they are rightly upset about is minimising and distracting and means we can't be fully focussed on the topic at hand - child and innocent civilian deaths in Palestine.

This is intended politely, please feel free to start a different thread focussed on those other wars you're so upset about elsewhere, so we can discuss the many deaths we are presently so upset about here in a focussed way.

Parkingt111 · 14/11/2023 13:37

The poor doctors and medical staff have worked heroically through this war risking their lives daily

Louloulouenna · 14/11/2023 13:39

“Front” is certainly an apt word.

hulahello · 14/11/2023 13:39

@Parkingt111 yes, so many medics have already lost their lives, and as a result of this, so many more will, as they are unable to access the care they would have bravely provided.

No thanks, I shall comment within guidelines where I think tis relevant. there is a lot of hysteria and misinformation on this board and if I feel it appropriate to challenge it, I will. I don't need your permission. I didn't intend to start a long conversation about it, I was making a valid point to a particular common comment here.

Parkingt111 · 14/11/2023 13:52

@hulahello on Friday a group of British healthcare workers held a vigil and call for ceasefire outside downing Street
Each one held a card with a name of a murdered clinician. In total at the time were 189 dead
It was a touching tribute and a show of solidarity. I think only those who work in health care can understand how challenging it is on a normal day to day basis, so unfathomable under current circumstances.
Some doctors have said at times they have had to resort to operating under phone light including performing amputations without anesthesia under extreme circumstances

Missed it on TV but picked it up here. So Ethnic cleansing then.

“Voluntary” is another interesting word to use….he needs a dictionary.
