The images coming through on news channels are horrific.

@Lonelycrab and @graciousmouse ,

I am not a Netanyahu fan and I agree re the West Bank settlements but, even if he resigned and the settlements were withdrawn, Hamas would still want to eliminate Israel.

They do need destroying and they do hide within civilian targets.

When Hamas is destroyed a new Hamas v2.0 will arise. Hamas was created few decades ago. Before that there was another group. Unless you sort the problem out you’re just stopping one fire whilst starting the next one

Teentaxidriver · 03/11/2023 19:39

The appeasers don’t want to hear that Newbut.

Lonelycrab · 03/11/2023 19:40

Do you think, that once every building is razed to the ground within Gaza, that the people are either dead or expelled, that the problem goes away, and it’s a lovely from there all in? Genuine bloody question

People die in war. Hamas invaded Israel - this is what happens. If Hamas had left Israel alone this would not be happening. If people invaded the UK and slit the throats of our babies we would be heaping mayhem and death upon them left right and centre.

You truly have lost your humanity.

So it's ok to murder 20 civilians, of which half will be children, to get one terrorist?

Not that I believe Israel had any intelligence of Hamas being in those ambulances. They are bombing indiscriminately now, while most of the western world cheers them on. Barbaric.

Indeed. Nothing motivates like injustice, and this is the biggest injustice against the Palestinian people yet.

Green777 · 03/11/2023 19:44

@Xenia

Hamas did that despicable attack on the Israeli innocents, not the innocents of Palestine.

There are some posters, thankfully not many, that are outraged at the killing of Israeli’s but either shrug off or actively excuse the same on the other side with worn out tropes.

Newbutoldfather · 03/11/2023 19:45

@Lonelycrab ,

I will take you at your word re the ‘genuine question’.

Once Hamas is gone, and assuming the war is contained, both Israel and The Palestinians need to be pressured by the international community into a viable 2 state solution.

They nearly got there when Arafat rejected it and it is possible.

Whether it will happen, who knows…

Lonelycrab · 03/11/2023 19:45

Unless you sort the problem out you’re just stopping one fire whilst starting the next one

Also known as trying to put the fire out by throwing petrol on it.

Perhaps a hasbara expert will explain why that’s sometimes needed, you know, give a patronising history lesson accompanied by a bit of

I-am-right-you-uneducated pleb-are -wrong

HorryHornblower · 03/11/2023 16:37

The man in the linked video has been in lots of staged videos for Hamas - he’s an actor - he’s been a singer, he’s been a journalist, he’s been a doctor and he’s been lying in a hospital bed pretending to be critically injured (while all the hospital machines were turned off). He was also seen celebrating in the street as Hamas rockets went flying overhead.

search “hamas crisis actor” on X

You need to search ‘Hamas crisis actor’ because it’s misinformation you’re spreading, they are not the same person

We don't know what would have happened if Netanyahu hadn't derailed the peace process in the 1990s and both tacitly and explicitly supported to development of Hamas. But what we do know is that the conflict has been started with no real realistic end game. How does Netanyahu think this will achieve a lasting peace? Even if he does destroy Hamas (which is unlikely) there will be a brutalised population who will be ripe for developing a new terror organisation. And Gaza will be razed to the ground and it will be expected that the international community rebuilds (and possibly manages) it - given the competing demands the funds will not be forthcoming to the extent needed, so the population will live in abject poverty and deprivation, further fueling resistance and anger. There will be no lasting peace.

petuniasandpetals · 03/11/2023 17:44

If you are horrified by this footage I suggest you watch the Israeli website with details of the massacre carried out on October 7th.
And ...do we even know who hit the ambulance?
NB. I've seen that guy on numerous videos.

It's not a competition.

Green777 · 03/11/2023 19:52

@flufferknutter

Exactly. But if it were a competition…who has the most political backing of superpowers to ‘defend’ itself with blatant war crimes with impunity?

Green777 · 03/11/2023 19:53

@dadoodoodoo

Hear hear.

People falling over themselves to excuse Netahanyu’s bloodthirsty revenge and corruption.

graciousmouse · 03/11/2023 19:55

I hope the pro IDF war crime apologists and propagandists are getting well paid to compensate for their guilty consciences.

You couldn’t pay me enough money to do it.

usual caveat, no i do not condone hamas…

Yeah, don't even mention war crime, disproportionality, or collective punishment without it being disputed and thrown back in your face. When it's happening, it's clear as day.

ketchup07070 · 03/11/2023 19:58

I hope Israel will be required to contribute significant amounts to help rebuild the lives of the people of Gaza. I don't begrudge any aid money the UK gives, but it's slightly crazy if the world is just expected to pick up the cheque once Israel is done.

Lonelycrab · 03/11/2023 20:02

I hope Israel will be required to contribute significant amounts to help rebuild the lives of the people of Gaza

Those people will either have to fuck off into the desert..or die in Gaza, basically. That’s pretty much Israeli govt policy if we’re being honest about it.

Green777 · 03/11/2023 20:02

@graciousmouse

I like the way you’ve had to make a point at the end of your post ‘I do not condone Hamas’ because you know any point you make will be ignored and countered with ‘you haven’t condemned the Hamas attack? You condone Hamas?’ 🙄

Green777 · 03/11/2023 20:04

@Lonelycrab

Well the IDF did say they’re human animals and it was also said the goal will to be to leave Gaza ‘smaller’.

graciousmouse · 03/11/2023 20:05

@Green777 yes i recommend adding it to the end of every post for explicit avoidance of doubt and to avoid the ridiculous accusations 😂

Green777 · 03/11/2023 20:10

@graciousmouse

the tropes really are getting old now for anyone concerned about the innocents in Gaza

’so you don’t care about the Israelis on 7/10?’

‘but they voted Hamas in!’

‘anti-semetic hate speech!’

‘it’s all Hamas’ fault, they brought this on them!’

‘You’ve condemned the killing of Palestinians but you didn’t mention the 7/10 attack of Israeli’s - this means you’re pro-Hamas!’

Getting old now.

The vicinity of the Indonesian hospital in Gaza has just been struck again right now
It's terrible
I try not to be emotional on here but it's really very difficult to continue to see

You’ve done spectacularly well at defending the Palestinians over these past few weeks and always being so kind to people, even the ones saying appalling things.

I really hope that you’re ok.

Im sorry but there will not be any rebuilding or lives in Gaza, the aim is erradication.
