The number of children reported killed in just three weeks in Gaza is more than the number killed in armed conflict globally – across more than 20 countries – over the course of a whole year, for the last three years.

Statement on children's deaths in Gaza | Save the Children

Children killed in Gaza in three weeks surpasses annual number of children killed across the world's conflict zones since 2019.

@Ohlalalalala Thank you for sharing OP. There are lots of posts on MN that are pro-Israel that come across as robotic and I'm wondering if this is a bot? Or people trained to respond.

I definitely think that the Israeli govt pays people to infect its propaganda all over social media and MN is no exception.

I'm not necessarily saying people on this thread but on most pro-palestinian threads here it feels like they have been infiltrated and anything is met with "but hamas" and sticking fingers in their ears and the same old boring circular arguments.

Not to mention the contempt of posters calling out anyone pro-palestine or anti-IDF as "useful idiots". Their contempt is disgusting and shameful in the face of what is going on and would fit better over on the Daily Mail.

Roste · 30/10/2023 10:49

Having read about Hasbara, the pro Israel posts prevalent on mumsnet and frequent use of anti semitism to try to shame people to be quiet, despite the inhumanity of the last few weeks are startlingly obvious now. I am starting to understand just how oppressed the Palestinian people are in every aspect of their lives. Horrendous.

Interesting post here on Reddit about Israeli state's involvement in other shady conflicts around the world including Rwandan genocide, Apartheid South Africa, Mayan Genocide, Srebrenica, Kashmir, traning US police, Pinochet / Chile, the ethnic cleansing of Armenians etc etc etc.

I'm currently applying for British passports for my baby and toddler so we can then get Israeli passports to make Aliyah. To be honest, we'd rather be in an Israel at war than here in the UK.

We are considering retirement options there. I feel very unsafe here. At least in Israel, we know who our enemies are and those who wish us harm. Good luck Purple, hope you stay on MN.

feralunderclass · 30/10/2023 11:20

@HeidiInTheBigCity I agree, I'm seeing more and more amazing Jewish activists leading protests and rallies and they are speaking out despite a severe backlash at times.

passiveaggressivenonsense · 30/10/2023 11:27

I don't give a crap about who your ancestors are or which faith you practice. Targeting terrorists when there's innocent children caught in the crossfire is just wrong.
From the outside it looks like hammas' brutal act is being used by Israel as an opportunity to annihilate an entire population with the worlds backing.

... and, despite what you might just about see in mainstream media: a lot of them are not somewhere in the US or joining marches in London.

They are in Israel, and some of them are facing severe repression from their own government!

Likewise, for that matter, I have known some truly brilliant civil society activists not only from but also in Palestine (and Palestinians living inside Israel). They, too, are showing incredible bravery and humanity at even greater personal risk! Because, make no mistake about it: the Israeli government, unlike some of these amazing people, is not only racist through-and-through but also extremely repressive!

I feel exactly the same. Yesterday i felt hounded and backed into a corner on mn. I wasn't able to post how i felt as i felt anything i said was wrong and taken the wrong way. And previous posts i made were taken completely the wrong way and flung in my face. Ive never felt so demoralised on mn and I've had many a good argument on here!! And a few good roastings too. But I've never felt like my opinion just counted for nothing like i did yesterday. It did actually make me lose sympathy for a lot of the pro Israel posts and gave me a teeny tiny glimpse of how Palestinians must feel, although I'm no way comparing my cushy life to the hell hole they are in.
So if there are bots here to promote Israel its sort of backfiring on posters like me who previously were in total sympathy with both sides.

This is insanity. Why is it not breaking news? These are human children we're talking about. Why isn't this making headlines around the world? I feel sick to my stomach. Where's the humanity? Where's the outrage

All around the world. Unfortunately, Netanyahu isn’t listening because he feels untouchable.

iamnitongoogle · 30/10/2023 11:45

@ssd Same here ssd, I'm nervous about expressing opinions lest I be accused of anti semitism. I've also noticed hardcore pro-Israel views being expressed but they're not taken down? I'm becoming suspicious of posts that are very long and keep repeating the same points on every thread.

Desertrose2023 · 30/10/2023 10:37

How lovely to be able to have that option but what a shame it comes at the cost of so much human suffering.

Where are you moving from to the UK. Why do you need British passports first. Why can't you just get Israeli.

I was on a thread a few weeks ago about this topic and it was horrfic. Anti semitic accusations thrown round left right and centre. The topics supporting palestine were reported and deleted. I gave up. Eventually the thread was deleted.

I did a placement at an Israel human rights organization and the harassment that they got was utterly shocking. Massive respect to them for speaking out.

It is if you look for it. Just not being reported dependant on the government of where you are watching from/news owbership/interests.

1 million people protested in Turkey,
Ive seen hundreds of thousands in spain, pakistan, london, cairo, soel, chicago, algeria, Amman, ireland, Amsterdam, new york, Johannesburg, morroco, kula lumpa, india (despite gov not backing ceasfire) athens, phillipines, france, the Haigh, tunisia, mexico city, geneva, Lebanon, chile ... thats just what ive seen.

Spains social minister is strongly calling for war crime prosecution, arms embargo and for countries to suspend diplomatic relations. I wish our government was doing the same. The worlds governments are just watching and its heinous.

I was in tears this morning watching the protests of some very brave and compassionate jewish isrealis and jews joining protests around the world. I instantly feared for their life and hope they are ok. There are also a large group of isrealis who have locked themselves in a synagogue and are screaming from the rooftops for ceasefire and making it clear that this slaughter is not the wish of them. I really hope they stay safe and their families. I dont trust that they will. They are brave and uncomplacent

ssd · 30/10/2023 12:13

I started a thread asking if anyone had been at the march in Glasgow. I'd seen the marchers but couldn't find any info on tv about it so asked on here if anyone had been. The thread is still there on scotsnet. I was hounded and accused of all sorts.

jojonono · 30/10/2023 12:21

yes the news has kept the protests very quiet!

The jews in ww2 saved their children by creating the kindertransport to get them out but Israel isn’t allowing the crossing points to open to just save the children. It’s beyond disgusting that this constant bomb throwing is allowed to happen. It’s filmed, it’s real, we can all see it. I feel so sad.

Does Israel control the Egyptian border?

jojonono · 29/10/2023 15:39

To anyone who can make a donation, the Palestine Children's Relief fund is a respectable organisation helping the children and desperately needs funds.

Please donate to save Palestinian children. I've donated earlier today and know others who have too.

https://www.pcrf.net/

How much of the money donated goes to Hamas to buy weapons? Gaza should look like Monaco by now; wonder why it doesn't?

"From 2014 to 2020, U.N. agencies spent nearly $4.5 billion in Gaza, including $600 million in 2020 alone. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, aid to Palestinians totaled over $40 billion between 1994 and 2020."

Ah, so its Egypt's fault now? I didn't see that one coming. Must be running out of excuses.
