The number of children reported killed in just three weeks in Gaza is more than the number killed in armed conflict globally – across more than 20 countries – over the course of a whole year, for the last three years.

Statement on children's deaths in Gaza | Save the Children

Children killed in Gaza in three weeks surpasses annual number of children killed across the world's conflict zones since 2019.

Does Israel control the Egyptian border?

https://apnews.com/article/palestinian-jordan-egypt-israel-refugee-502c06d004767d4b64848d878b66bd3d

Does this answer your point?

"(Egypts) refusal (to open the border crossing in Gaza) is rooted in fear that Israel wants to force a permanent expulsion of Palestinians into their countries and nullify Palestinian demands for statehood. El-Sissi also said a mass exodus would risk bringing militants into Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, from where they might launch attacks on Israel, endangering the two countries’ 40-year-old peace treaty."

TooBigForMyBoots · 30/10/2023 12:28

Children are not Hamas.
This is genocide.

Desertrose2023 · 30/10/2023 10:37

How lovely to be able to have that option but what a shame it comes at the cost of so much human suffering.

Agree. So easy for people like @PurpleChrayne to move without thinking that at this very moment entire towns are being razed and people are forced to move out to make place for more settlers, so your home there is at the expense of a community.

Flyhigher · 30/10/2023 12:31

@lavender2023 they know 2.3 million people are imprisoned and they still think it's ok?

Surely it makes their own state so much less safe.

You have just incentivised a million kids under 15 to fight you in the future. That makes your state untenable long term.

Roste · 30/10/2023 12:31

@jojonono , thanks I have donated.
@usernamealreadytaken jog on.
@Redlarge they are incredibly brave to be so vocal under the current Israel regime, I too hope they stay safe.

jojonono · 30/10/2023 12:35

@Flyhigher I agree. How could Israel possibly be safer right now? Not to mention the impact of new "settlers" (if in West bank, occupiers) on Palestinians - even if they settle in traditionally Israeli areas (as per the original land division agreement), as the land is taken up they encroach further onto Palestinian land, in the West bank, for example. It all comes at a massive cost to Palestinians.

Ah, so its Egypt's fault now? I didn't see that one coming. Must be running out of excuses.

Can you name a single country at war which opens its borders to citizens of that country so they can safely walk on through? You don't think there might be some Hamas individuals just strolling on by with those nice ladies and their children? 🙄

So, even Egypt doesn't want Hamas. But apparently Israel should open borders and welcome them?

If anyone wants to donate I did last week to urnwa. Few of their workers have been killing in the last few weeks whilst they were in schools and so.

... said the person supporting the state that gets, literally, billions worth of "aid" from, predominantly but not only, the US every year. And unlike your unsourced claims, the vast majority of that very officially goes to ... you guessed it: weapons!

The irony, though!

FWIW, when you have to resort to accusing literally Save the Children, a well known international charity, (and many others!), and dragging them through the mud ... that's possibly the moment when you ought to ask yourself that "are we the baddies" question!

Warsarecruel · 30/10/2023 12:49

It is horrific but so was the death doll of children killed in Afghan, Iraq and Syria.

Hamas need to be eradicated but not at the cost of human lives, sadly during war there is always collateral damage which is why wars are so cruel and should not happen. I also feel sadness for the innocent people killed in Israel, my sympathies lie with both sides.

Stop making up bullshit.

jojonono · 30/10/2023 12:55

I can only question the motives of someone like @usernamealreadytaken who wants to prevent donations being made to a respected, vetted charity that supports stricken Palestinian children. Perhaps @usernamealreadytaken would prefer we donated to the IDF so they can bomb more kids.

Not sure how I'm dragging STC through the mud; questioning the source of information is usually acceptable, especially during a conflict where either one or both sides are known for releasing propaganda in order to gain sympathy. You're probably still defending the BBC journalist who couldn't see how anyone other than Israel had bombed the hospital "killing over 500 people".

And BTW, being an international charity or NGO doesn't in any way make an organisation somehow pure - please do have a look at the way that some Oxfam employees have behaved, or the way the UN veto is used by Russia.

Finally, not sure how donating to a US charity makes you in some way superior; I'd probably direct my donation to a charity which values all children not just the ones in a certain area, but I guess you do you.

No, I'd donate to a charity which values all children equally, myself.

jojonono · 30/10/2023 13:20

@usernamealreadytaken while nastily smearing a vetted respectable charity that works to help Palestinian kids? We see what you're trying to do here and it's disgusting.

"You're probably still defending the BBC journalist who couldn't see how anyone other than Israel had bombed the hospital "killing over 500 people".

The jury is still out on this one and there's plenty of evidence to suggest it could have been the Israeli govt but they can't confirm either way yet. And let's face it they don't have form for truthfulness, do they? So denote speculation at what it clearly is, speculation, rather than your "truth".

Thanks for trying to derail the thread, again. I see a pattern with your posts, and it's not a pleasant one.

The thread has already been detailed. I feel so sad. Besides donating is there anything that can be done to help the people and the children in Gaza? This all feels dystopian.
