Hi mls and mermaid

I think I might have to buy a portable DVD at some stage. However she doesnt seem at all interested when I put on Cbeebies for her, but loves the theme tunes for Eastenders, Hollyoaks, Friends, Loose Women and This Morning . She does love a particular app on DH's iphone so might have to find more of those to entertain her.

Thanks mermaid. I'm clinging on to the hope that the fact that I'm on maternity leave will help my situation

Are we assuming iggy is having a boy then!

4everhopeful · 21/07/2010 02:32

Night feeding and really interesting and enjoyable to read your traditions Sabs!

4everhopeful · 21/07/2010 02:46

Barbie, Mermaid what dates are you here in London again? Still gutted i missed the 1st one with Sabs & Curly! As for car journeys S seems ok but going to Nans in worthing on sat so hoping weather cools down! ... Lbm glad to hear babybelle settling, hope ok after jabs, S has hers next tues whats the deal with calpol? My sil said give before jabs, even tho apparently not usually given before 3m? Anyone got thoughts/advice on the matter please?

4everhopeful · 21/07/2010 02:51

Cjays birthday even! YAWN! Wonder if Igs laying in pool of broken waters as i type?

4everhopeful · 21/07/2010 02:56

Last post! As well as advice re calpol pre jabs, please remind me your thoughts on how long an empty bottle is sterile for once out of the steriliser? (For our long day out to Worthing on sat) Know this was already answered! Scuse the mummy brain & inability to search prev posts!

iggypiggy · 21/07/2010 06:57

Hello all, sorry to disapoint, but not much happening here! Is obviously a long slow build up! I have been having occasional mild twinges but nothing dramatic and a couple of times yesterday I had slightly more painful ones, but really not much to get excited about!

Am off to walk the dog... Much dog walking being sone by me in attempt to encourage stuff along!

MummyLovesSadie · 21/07/2010 07:52

4ever Calpol 2m.

Mermaid I too like the name Loveday but I think outside the West Country people might be a bit , I also like the Cornish name Piran.

Iggy Odd twinges are a very good sign. That's how I started & Cupcake too. I predict that you'll be in labour by tonight/early hours of the morning.

Neeko · 21/07/2010 09:08

Aargh! Just lost a big post and H is due to waken soon.
Very reassured to hear about all the shoogling to sleep. I tend to get bogged down in baby advice books and convince myself i'm a bad mum

Sabs sorry I missed you the other night and yes to texts. The traditions are really interesting and Ramadan sounds hard, but I guess that's the point.

MLS Glad you've finally got your finger out!

Pleased to hear about all the christenings. we're hoping for first week in September but minister on holiday at moment.

H is wakening

GO iggy go!

SabsFabulous · 21/07/2010 12:02

Hi all

Found out that I will have to undergo ring-fenced competition for my role . Reading lots of threads on MN, I thought that as I am on maternity leave I would be job-matched.....so now the stress of applications, interview blah blah begins all over again

Sorry for the me post . At least I have been matched to a job, but I think theres around 6-15 of us going for 4 roles and I've been out of the work environment for nearly a year now, there's no way I'll get it.

4everhopeful · 21/07/2010 12:24

Aw sabs so sorry to hear that, so relate to the anxiety, had nearly 3yr consultation period before i was made redundant which was like an axe over the head & sure didnt help with stress of mc. Was a blessing once decision finally made. Would of thought youd be job matched tho? If id of not took redundancy that was an option for me? Are u with a union? Blue meant to say actually contemplating christening dress from next, how wierd! Wedding sounded fab, great you got to let your hair down! You in girl! ...Thanks mls glad your gettin organised! Gotta go, pooey nap nap..!

mermaidspurse · 21/07/2010 12:26

oh st sabs can they blimmin do that with maternity leave I am so sorry that you ahve this to worry about.
Thank you for writing about your traditions. You somehow seem more outward looking when a new life come into the world.

4ever I am old and out of touch but wouldn't dose with calpol myself, she will have enough whizzing around in her system to deal with. Some babies will be a bit grizzly afterwards, mild temp maybe but they usually deal with it. My kitten had hers on friday too and she was a bit grizzly as well I found it more traumatic than when ds had his jags (thanks blue I'Ll never forget the word now)

re the bottles I am completely clueless.
re dvds in cars they are the devils work full stop cat, bum face.
It takes many years to then stop saying " oh look some trees in a field isn't that lovely ds" field.

Marmaduke.

mls reckon even west country people would think it a bit of a barmey name too!

mermaidspurse · 21/07/2010 12:28

must remember to preview more often, school holiday is taking it's toll day 5

VJay · 21/07/2010 12:36

Oh sabs that is crap, what a stress!
Love your traditions too, and love that you donated all the meat to an orphanage

4ever just get some calpol in and give it too her if you feel she needs it, I had a bottle in for both my boys and neither of them needed it after their jabs, I think

As for bottles, I am very naughty, I make up 4 at tea time, cool them down and stick them at the back of my fridge, then use them when I need them, and definatly within 24 hours. I did this for ds1 too and had no problems

4ever when going out and about I sterilize a bottle and take a carton of sma with me, then just use it when I need it. If it's not been used by the time I get home then I do rewash and sterilize before I use it again.

Ajay is making me laugh, he is trying to walk everywhere, he's like a walking teddy bear, straight legged and arms sticking out

Come on babyiggs

Glad you liked the link girls....i laughed so much

iggy pushhhhhhhhh! or if your not at that stage yet get your hubby off to bed pronto

sabs meh at your job situation but dont be so negative, you are still in with a chance, it was your job first so you have already proven you can do it! chin up. I think i could recite the call to pray, having had it wake me up for the past 18 months! i love all your traditions...although i was a bit freaked at the meat one i remember going to the beach here and they had goats tied to the trees, ready to be slaughtered but then i remembered that im not a vegetarian so it would be double standards to be at it....i then went and had a maccy d's if i remember correctly!
Ramadan is fast approaching, we are getting loads of flyers posted for iftars and such like. If you are bf can you drink and eat etc, because i know my milk supply would be affected if i couldnt. Saara is excused isnt she??? what age do they fast...sorry im a nosey cow!

vjay loving the image i have of ajay walking...too cute!

cupcake where are you thinking of going on holidays, or have you already said im losing my mind!

mls thanks for link for night feed, i forgot i dont need it because i bf at night forgot that too! the flask is hot enough if i need it....as for the necklace i tried one that i made but the little bugger nearly strangled me oh and she was more interested in it then feeding im going to stick a sani pad over my boob to stop her scarring me! my chest looks like something from a slasher movie!

gotta run...

barbie1 · 21/07/2010 17:36

sorry ill have to finish this in the morning...D has woken up 45 mins after going to bed. The last 2 nights have been a struggle and we had made so much progress too

ps 4ever the email was fab!

VJay · 22/07/2010 09:01

MORNING

I am so tired this morning, Ajay woke me up a couple of times, dh fidgeted all night and ds1 wet the bed, but hey ho, onwards and upwards

4ever those pictures of S are so so cute, she has a gorgeous cheeky smile

OP posts:
barbie1 · 22/07/2010 09:07

vjay good morning....i had a night like that too second one in a row where D thinks its ok to play for 2 hours between 12am and 2am

VJay · 22/07/2010 09:12

Morning barbie, poor you, at least Ajay goes straight back to sleep after I've fed him. DH has just said he's tired , I've told him we are banning that word today, no mention of being tired!!!

When does your dh get back?

OP posts:
monkeybumsmum · 22/07/2010 09:20

Iggy Oooh, very exciting, hope things are starting to happen! Good luck for whenever it does!

MLS Lovely to have you back from Florida, did you have a good time? Hope it wasn't too hot for you...

VJay Am so sorry to hear about your poor dog How sad. It's so difficult when that happens - I am dreading it with our two. You mentioned your ds wants another dog? Well, when I was a teenager (bit different I know), my dog was run over by a car and died the next day. I was so devastated - he used to sleep in my bed with me, and went everywhere I did. My mum took me out a couple of days later to get me another dog, which was very sweet of her, but because I was so upset at losing Ben, I never really had the same bond with the second. I wish that we'd waited a while and then I could have appreciated the next dog, and have come to terms with what happened. HTH's. How's DS1 now?
Can't believe Ajay's starting to walk btw!

Blue Sounds like you had a fabbo time at your wedding, love the pics! I was very controlled at the one I went to - dh didn't come as he was working, so I had ds with me, and only had about one glass in total as I needed to chase him round and keep him 'under control' (as if!). Not easy in heels and delicate floaty dress

Sabs Thanks so much for telling us about the traditions, very interesting to read! I love the idea of giving the equivalent hair weight of silver to charity. They sound really lovely and very special things to do (with the exception of slaughtering an animal!)
I agree wholeheartedly with MLS on the DVD player front - has been one of our best buys! We use ours on planes a lot too, travelling between here and UK. DS has the routine down to a tee now, and watches for the seatbelt light to switch off so we can get it out! I actually get a bit of me time as a result - fantastic!
So sorry to hear about the stress over your job, you must be really worried about it. They have to take the maternity leave into consideration though don't they? Surely that can't go against you, it wouldn't be legal? Really hope you're keeping your chin up, and good luck with your interview. Am sure you will be brilliant!

Barbie Hope D went back to sleep pronto last night and that you got some rest? Great that you're making progress, despite the setback - you will get there! You must be missing dh - are you able to speak to him when you want?

Cupcake How are you doing? Your dh sounds lovely We didn't dtd for about 6 months if I remember correctly Poor dh! Just too weird though... V exciting that you're thinking of going on hols - deffo go while J is tiny, it's so much easier to travel! With ds we found that the smaller he was, the easier it was, then at about a year it started being tricky, and was literally a nightmare by the time he hit two. Go now, while you can

Mermaid Hello lovely How are you? What have you got planned for ds during the hols? Anything nice? Are you managing to keep your head above water? Bit of a struggle sometimes isn't it

4ever Thanks so much lovely pics, did you get my email?
Re Calpol, I wouldn't give it to her before, as she might not react to the jabs in any way. I think you can give Baby Nurofen from two months (?) and we were told over here that if the baby has a fever or is grizzly in the three days after the jabs, that it will be from the jabs and therefore to give medicine if that is the case. My doctor always said only give something if fever is above 38.5, but we gave ds something after his injections if he only had a slight raise. He was never really affected that much though which was lucky.
Lovely re christening - will have a look at the dress from Next, some of their stuff is lovely!!!

Neeko Lovely that you're planning H's christening for September, v exciting! What will she wear?

Well, things here are ticking over - AF started on Saturday, which was a headf**k as I would've been so panicked and not ready if I had've been pg, but am v worried that I'm not. No win situation really. Think we missed it as I was trying not to ttc, but regretting that in a way now. Feeling rather messed up at the mo, and not sure how to proceed. Due date getting closer, and the three ladies I know all due within ten days of my date are getting bigger Want to hide somewhere until it's all over.

Better go, and sorry I haven't posted more personals. Louey i love your posts, because you always include everyone, it must take you ages to do!

Love to all xxx
