BESH is BACK for Spring. Come in, admire the cocktail bar stylings I have created for you. It's all lowlights and smooth sounds, and there's a rehearsal room in back for the GLEE practice.

The barman are beautiful, the Pit has been well stocked with beanbags and gin. So roll up all you 30-something BESHies who stopped counting cycles sometime in the last century, and grab a martini.

It's all about reductionism innit. Call someone an asthmatic and all they are is an illness, call them a person with asthma and they are a person with a health problem.

It is a bit of a grind, but being an ex-disability rights I get the theory behind it. Even though the person with asthma probably thinks it's also ridiculous.

Just to butt in and add my tuppence worth (because I can now I have returned to speedy internet). I would hate to be called an "arthritic". I also detest being called a "sufferer" and refuse to use such terms in my journalism, because I feel it victimises the person concerned. I might be a person with arthritis, but I refuse to suffer! (Or at least I try not to - I know I can be a whinging cow and I'm not double hard like cunty or gin )

However, I would need little convincing that the rest of lolly's PC-ness guide is a pile of pish

As you were...

laurielou · 20/05/2010 15:36

I just think its a real shame that a booklet has to be produced in its 100's to tell people how to act & what they can & cannot say.

To use your analogy muse I have asthma & yes call myself asthmatic. I had to use my inhaler for laughing so much at some of the other crap in this booklet.

And to receive this booklet on the same day as an email informing us of an immediate recruitment freeze, even if interviews have taken place, so we can "reduce the fiscal deficit", just seems a bit crazy.

But meh, that's just me.

PerfectDromedary · 20/05/2010 15:42

Muse I assumed it would be something like that. Interesting. I was out last night with my friend who is policy & campaigns officer for a disability rights charidee and her girlf. (and, btw, we went to a feminist comedy night and got v drunk and ranted about the condems happily) Anyway, although she sometimes finds it v frustrating, she's all about that kind of language.

gin how you doin' precious?

Medee · 20/05/2010 16:41

Afternoon all. I can see why not calling someone asthmatic, or whatever, is appropriate, but worrying about "see you later" seems rather over-sensitive.

In non-pissing on sticks news, I am having abdominal twinges, a bit like ovulation. Is it implantation, or perhaps just a hernia?!

AliceAyers · 20/05/2010 16:41

afternoon sexylaydeez...how goes it...vaGinal, what a long running, agonising mouth based saga you have been living with! have you been in work whilst all this was going on?

Hello, to Humps and all the rest. I have been trying to avoid lurking due to the COLOSSAL MENKUL BESTRIDING MY LIFE!!!! And I can't tell you how many poas (7...SEVEN!!!) I have done over the last few days...some with results confusing enough to make me go 'hmmm', but which POAS.com just says...ha ha! don't be a mug girlfriend, get a fucking life!

All of this due to freaky ovaltine at CD19 - 23 which didn't turn into AF (though why should it, at that early stage)and the fact that I have been feeling a bit nauseous from time to time, but no sore breasts or owt.

The underlying cause of the menkul is that it's last chance saloon for getting a baby from thesex rather than a petri dish!

Gaaah...I also promised myself I would not share this menkul with BESH central in case it continues to grow and multiply...AND i dreamt I had a baybee girl (v skinny, curly hair)...gibber, gibber

AliceAyers · 20/05/2010 16:43

someboady stop me...save me from myself!!!

AliceAyers · 20/05/2010 16:48

Well done to Scorps for losing dildocam virginity...we can all stop whispering behind the bikesheds about how frigid you are, now.

Medee · 20/05/2010 16:50

Stop it, AliceSpringstoAyersRock, what's your usual cycle?

Casserole · 20/05/2010 17:00

But wait. What were the confusing results??

PerfectDromedary · 20/05/2010 17:14

STOPPIT YOU MENKUL BAGGAGE!

It will be what it is, you can't control it by peeing on sticks, no, you just have to wait...

Does that help?

I can secretly cross my fingers for interesting sticks, tho?

AliceAyers · 20/05/2010 17:20

Usual cycle length 26 - 28 days recently - now on CD25.

I had done 5 Clearplue Plus...the first two nothing showed apart from - line and control line. The next two showed a fleeting vertical line as weewee 'passed across' the test, but disappeared before reading time came up. The final one showed nada. All three now show either fine line +, or a kind of 'half' plus with top line missing. But these line only appeared AGES later.

POAS says both these phenomena = "negatory, fuck off you menkul".

I did a First Response Early result this am and last night, both completely neg.

So, negative I is, then. And, I have had the slight nausea when wooofling in the past, so there you have it...commit me to the bin!

AliceAyers · 20/05/2010 17:24

Meds good take on user name...shame I'm not from Oz, or going there on hols or owt!

Medee · 20/05/2010 17:30

So, you're not overdue yet - can you bear to wait till day 28 and POAS then?

AliceAyers · 20/05/2010 17:34

All of the evidence suggests that no, I can't bear to wait . I have run out of stick now (as has every shop in five mile radius!). I am going away tomorrow for the weekend, so will leave it alone until droid arrives, though might do one last CB tomorrow, as at least they give me something to dream about, rather than the cruel, blank, impassive emptiness of the First resposne

Medee · 20/05/2010 17:36

All of the evidence suggests that no, I can't bear to wait

At least the weekend might distract you a bit

AliceAyers · 20/05/2010 17:38

That's what I am hoping, as I will be entering DefConOne over the weekend!

ginhag · 20/05/2010 17:41
