Cupcake I never once stayed awake through the hypnobirth CD - it still seemed to work though! Besides, anything that can help you sleep when you're that close to full-term pregnant must be magic!

MLS nearly 20 weeks - thats great!!

littlebellsmum · 13/05/2010 15:18

Well, has my ballon been popped or what. Just had my 38 week consultant visit and we have found out that BabyBelle is the wrong way up - (boy is she in trouble - this is not how a third child should behave...) .

So, out goes the lovely birthing centre, hynobirthing and yoga and in comes a probable planned section next week at the local hospital.

I'm adjusting to the news OK but it was a bit of a shock and has wrecked what was starting out to be a lovely day. But as my antenatal leader said - this is not about a perfect birth but rather a perfect baby and at the end of the day, that is what we all want.

Sorry for the me post but a bit shell shocked

cupcakefairy · 13/05/2010 15:39

Oh noooo LBM gutted for you! After all that hard work to get to the birthing centre so sorry. Lol, love that babybelle is in trouble with Mum already though oh that really sucks (but well done, you sound very zen about it even if you don't feel that way!)

MLS forgot to say last night that I love the bump pic too- sooo cute

barbie1 · 13/05/2010 15:46

oh dear lbm .... as a fellow c sectioner i feel your pain. Must of been a shock, but i agree 110% with your antenatal leader, its the end result which is most important....oh and you dont have to go through the pain of labour, you wont tear, you can be back up in your room eating toast and marvelling at baby belle within the hour..you get a few extra days to be pampered in hospital, babybelle wont be all squashed and uncomfortable and finally c section scars are tres chic dont ya know? all the WAGs have them

ok ok im sure you dont feel too much better but i did try!

barbie1 · 13/05/2010 15:48

waves to cupcake....am i forgiven for scaring you with the email yet????

barbie1 · 13/05/2010 15:55

mls thanks for your reponses, i would be more than happy if my dd turns out like yours oh and we have that same baby alarm already, never used it though last night i got 6 hours out of her by co sleeping and feeding her lying both on her sides, she did turn on her belly for the last hour and i kept an eye on her but i think ill try the alarm in her moses tonight, also after that long sleep last night we also both went back to bed at 7.30am this morning and did the same thing, the next thing i know it was gone 11am and my friend was ringing as we were meant to go to the mall i left dd sleeping until 11.45

i had forgotten how good it feels to get some sleep!!!

littlebellsmum · 13/05/2010 16:20

hi barbie and cupcake - thank you for your messages but yes, I'm not that down about it. Now frantically reading up on sections, breech presentations etc so that at least I know what I'm getting into!

littlebellsmum · 13/05/2010 16:21

It also means that I might win the cupcake, 4ever race

barbie1 · 13/05/2010 16:22

have you had a section before.....i cant remember!

barbie1 · 13/05/2010 16:29

a few things i found.....

t tree oil mixed with milk for the bath, it helps heal the scar.

advanced night repair by estee lauder will help the scar heal neater and faster, harley street doctors always recommend after cosmetic surguery

You need pants which come up over the scar. mine were all too small and rubbed it

A tummy band, you know the cotton thing you wear over trousers as your bump grows, well they are good to wear over the scar so nothing rubs.

When you first get out of bed you will lose blood, lots....wish someone had warned me

and lastly its not as bad as it sounds!

MummyLovesSadie · 13/05/2010 17:47

I'll be back to post properly later but LBM both reflexology & particularly acupuncture are REALLY good for shifting babies into the correct position for labour. My acupuncturist has turned loads of babies.

Does anyone know what nits look like? My dd has lots of minute black dots on her scalp.

barbie1 · 13/05/2010 17:55

nits, dont look if you are eating!

MummyLovesSadie · 13/05/2010 18:06

They don't look like that. I can't work out what all these little back dots could be.

barbie1 · 13/05/2010 18:15

paint specks????

some kind of plants pollen ( has she walked under any trees?!)

has you had anything on her head today?????

um....out of ideas, but least its not nits cos they are white!

Ps can anyone tell devon is asleep and dh is out..im bored and surfing the web!

barbie1 · 13/05/2010 18:16

black glitter

littlebellsmum · 13/05/2010 18:23

Nits do just look like little black dots but then so does dirt! Might be worth asking dd if she has been in the garden at nursery today - we have had both the dirt / nit false alarm and the real deal. The difference is that the real ones are moving black dots, wheras dirt stays still. Check the nape of the neck as this is the area that should be most infected and see if she is scratching.

If she does have nits get a nitty gritty comb , lots of cheap hair conditioner and tea tree and lavender oil. Then you have the lovely and time consunsuming job of sectioning her hair, plastering in it in the conditioner ( with a few drops of the oils in the top of the bottle) and combing through. And you get to do this every other night untill they are gone. As my dd as thick long hair, she got them for 6 months which was a nightmare - luckily she is a patient girl and was bribed to watch a film and eat something nice whilst I did it. Really hope this is not what your dd has...

barbie thanks for the tips - I haven't had a section before and have spent the last 2 hours on the net finding out more - your tips are great!

MLS I did read about accupuncture but at over 38 weeks am a bit worried that I'm running out of time

barbie1 · 13/05/2010 18:33

lbm i have more tips...

lie when they ask if you have had a poo (after the baby is born) they normally wont release you until you have. i lied and thankgod i did, i would of still been in there 2 weeks later!

Laxatives might be a good bet to take after as its really hard to go for a poo feels like your scar might rip open....

air freshener...keep handy cos if you pass wind it smells sooooo bad Its all the meds they give you! (and no it wasn't just me being a smelly cow, the doctor warned me of this!)

Whoops lots of poo related tips

MummyLovesSadie · 13/05/2010 18:48

Oh Barbie you have made me laugh!

Thanks for the tips LBM they seem to have gone when I washed her hair so I don't know what it was. I did notice a few the other day so they must have come back. They were certainly not moving though! You are definitely not too late for alternative therapy. Normally after a session the baby literally turns overnight. I could give you the details of my lady but I think you are a bit further along the A3 from me aren't you? She is in Woking.

VJay · 13/05/2010 19:41

Hello, had a brief read through, but am so tired sorry. Ended up at A&E with Ajay last night, he started screaming at 7pm and by 9pm he was still at it, so I decided to take him for a drive in the car to try and settle him, but I knew something wasn't right, anyway I popped into the local hospital, and his eardrums had perforated. They given him some antibiotics, and he's been fine today, but it was horrible seeing him in so much pain.

blue are you giving B expressed milk or formula, because I realised this morning that Ajay took the formula straight away, he just wouldn't take expressed milk in a bottle. Glad he's taking something at least, so when he has no choice on your night out he should take a bottle fine , here's hoping

Back in a mo.....

VJay · 13/05/2010 19:51

Sorry, I'm back...
lbm what a shock for you, but you're getting some good advice on here, well done barbie, and it's good to see you filling up the thread again

mls no clue what the little black things are, but again barbie gave loads of advice

I'm going to crash on the sofa now, laters my lovlies xxx

MummyLovesSadie · 13/05/2010 19:57

Oh no poor little Ajay. How on earth did he end up with perforated ear drums?? I'm so glad he's much better today. See, a Mummy's instinct is always right.

BuddhaBelly · 13/05/2010 21:02

LBM I'm not surprised you are shocked, it never quite works out as we planned does it?? but Barbie has given you some fab tips which I agree with, lavendar oil is also good in the bath, you can also cover the scan with a sanitary towel to stop things rubbing and get some windeze as well as laxatives it really messes up your system
Vjay Poor little Ajay, give him an extra cuddle from his cyber aunties, wonder how that happened, lets blame the seagulls
MLS How is nit watch going?
Monkey Such a shame your friend didn't share your sad news with work I'm lucky (I think) as my Mum works at the same place so she made sure everyone knew before I got back after each m/c so there were no awkward questions, have you found a windmill yet?
Barbie You are on a roll tonight! Glad to hear you had a beter night, fingers crossed things will improve, eye bags are not a good look
Iggy & MLS Lovely bump pics girls, can't believe how far along both of you are now
Blue Not full time, I've dropped a Monday but doing 4 full days, my Dad is having him one day, Mum for half a day so he's got a good mix of nursery for 2.5 days and family for 2.5 days, not too bad I suppose

Nobody warned me that once I started weaning I would get SO many more dirty nappies!! E had about 5 today and I'm only used to 1 a day I suppose that's one thing I can be positive about on my return to work, less nappies to change, hurray!

bluesatinsash · 13/05/2010 21:08

Oh Vjay - - how did that happen? You been playing your Iron Maiden songs too loudly [sink]. No seriously, that must have been terrifying. How is he now?? Thanks for bottle tip. had a terrible night last night and hit a wall today. Luckily I was round at friend's for lunch and had a good offload about feeding she bfed both of her's but topped up with formula at night etc.) long story short DH was dispatched to buy Aptamil on his way home and Benhas taken 3oz, yes three ounce!! I put him on the boob as normal but whrn he was snuggled and slowing down aI suckered him off and slipped bottle in and he kept on sucking.. I feel a breakthrough has been made so Vjay* you may have hit thenail with refusal to take EBM but yay! to formulla. Ny drema is to have him take his 10.30pm feed as formula which will hopefully mean he is only up once during th enight and to start weaning him from boob to bottle over the next few weeks. I've done it exclusively for 20 weeks and feel very proud. My darling Ben is chunky, healthy and happy but his darling Mummy is knackered, tired and just wants her body back.

Sorry for ramble thee

MLS - any conclusion on the nits? They haven't crossed out paths yet...

LMB - naughty babybelle. You must have been as you say shellshocked by being told she is breech. Barbie gives some wise post-c-section tips. I've had two (long labours, never fully dilated..) and bounced back both times really quickly. At least you've experienced natural birth which is something I never will and do feel about...

barbie - have you read Baby Whispere yet? Your DD sounds like a 'spirited' baby . (Author talks about babies being either angel (I wish!), textbook, spirited, touchy or grumpy. Both my boys are pretty textbook although Ben has a bit of spirited in him .

4everhopeful · 14/05/2010 02:28

Insomniac checking in! Hey Blue! Congrats on the transition to ff! Sure it cant be easy! ....Vjay at poor Ajay, hope the little mite is feelin better now & mummy is gettin some sleep! ....Lbm gutted for u sweetie however do agree, so long as the outcome results in a healthy baby there is no right or wrong way to give birth, have been gearing up that induction could end in section too! ....Invaluable tips Barbie love that there is always a poo factor involved in most of ur posts since D born! Oh how things of changed! like u used to be, i dont even fart in front of dh & as far as he is concerned i poo rose petals, oh how things will inevitably be changin for me too no doubt! ....Mls wow to 20 wks! What a gorgeous pic of your bump & sadie! Also love the wedding pics, just beautiful! Hope u got the nit gate saga sorted! ...Iggy another wow to 30weeks! where has the time gone? Another lovely bump! ....Cupcake hope now ur all preened, pampered & prepared that naughty dh isnt right with his june prediction! ....Gracie wedding dress shopping, how brilliantly exciting! Did u cry? Is it a baby bro? I love weddings! ....Moon hope u ok hon? Have lots of thoughts on yours! How about an ice sculpture for vodka shots? We had a big heart one, went down a treat! ....Monkey been thinkin of u lots, your colleague gave u another thing to stress over, u need people to take the heat off. As blessed Blue remembers after 4th loss i had 3 preg colleagues to contend with, 1 with same edd, not easy.. (understatement of year!) I actually didnt tell most people as work was my salvation where i stuck head in sand & 'acted normal' sometimes the smile felt so obviously fake, but i posted on here about 5times a day, told immediate v close colleagues so i could offload if needed, but as in big open plan office of about 75 people, was easier to stick head in sand & try & let inevitable comments like Gracie had go over my head..

4everhopeful · 14/05/2010 03:01

Oop ran out of space on phone again! ....Mermaid my lovely, another brave weeble iv been thinkin of so much, i do hope ur goin gently on urself, when is next counselling sesh? Would love if u were local & could come to my consultant... .....Buddha so nice to see u posting! Glad all well with u both! Cant believe its back to worktime soon ur childcare plans sound cool tho... Big waves to the lovely ladies iv not mentioned! ..... So today was my last consultant visit but he wasnt there so saw registrar! Still lovely tho & all good, head 4/5ths engaged! Only 1/5th left to go! Took chocs to midwifes & had lots of hugs.. Next visit to hosp will be DD day! Like Cupcake afterwards i had my wax booked, a full on brazilian that took 45mins! OUCH! Went mums after 4 arrival of sis from worcester, she is stayin for duration now, however by this point was havin real bad low backache & cramps, went to meet dh in sainsburys after he did the food shop, by which point was convinced was havin contractions, whole bump kept goin tight & v painful, even started timing them! Seemed to be 15mins apart, we still went pizza hut 4 dinner, dh didnt seem convinced & kept tellin me to relax! Was really uncomfortable & wolfed food down to get outta there asap, popped back to mums to pick up moses finally & so dh could see sis & bil & mum & sis watched with interest as on the quarter hour my bump hardened, but then as we waited for the next one it all stopped & tum went all soft again? It had really hurt so much was convinced labour had started but came home & altho backache still remains, now just had the odd sporadic tightening? Obviously as a novice i have no clue what to expect so am just sittin tight & slightly confused! Anyway, slept for an hour or so then pinged awake as seems to be the norm of late so gonna try to get back to sleep in case i do have a long few days ahead!! Im quite set on it bein all planned 4 next sat now tho, but hey!
