Morning Afternoon girls (although I have actually done something productive this morning, ironed all dh's shirts...while watching Dawson's Creek )

4ever hope everything went ok this morning. Bless you posting at that time. When your girl gets here you'll be getting so much sleep you'l feel like a new woman at this rate

Vjay how lovely of your dh I'm planning a pedicure (and wax, eek) in the next couple of weeks for a bit of pampering.

Hi iggy

cupcakefairy · 29/04/2010 13:01

Oh and mermaid...barely stop thinking about you too lovely, how are you doing? Please come and join the hugs and ice-cream in the greenhouse.

mermaidspurse · 29/04/2010 14:05

monkey oh honey I am sending you out as many healing thoughts as possible. I am sorry that I have missed you but so hope you are having some of that pampering.
The star garden sounds a fitting place to go and remember your little boy.x

I have to go because reality intruded and after a call from my nice bank manager I am now in a mad frenzy of work eek!

QuestionAnswered · 29/04/2010 19:49

gracie your Dd is gorgeous!

cupcake I used to watch desperate Housewives, but haven't seen any of the last couple of series, is it worth getting back in to? I used to love Dawson's creek too! Had a bit of a thing for the guy who played Pacey!

4Ever hope it went well with the consultant and you finally managed to get some sleep last night.

Vjay your Dh sounds really thoughtful, it makes the difficult times so much easier when you have someone like that around. Hope tonight is a better night for you.

mermaid how are you doing? Do you mind me asking when your next appointment is? You can answer with a if you prefer!

moon hope you are doing ok, here's another for you too. Keeping everything crossed for you and Mermaid

monkey so glad that you went to bed feeling even just a little bit better last night. Enjoy the sea air, pampering and time with your Dad.

pfj if you're lurking, come back and let me know how you are getting on, if you do i will give you some crumbs from my cake

Did some baking today and trying hard not to eat all the cake tonight! My will power is not up to the job though Mmmmm cake

4everhopeful · 29/04/2010 21:17

Hey girlies, quiet on here today! I never got back to sleep til 7am so running on adrenylin! Quickie from me to fill you in on hospital today, was there 4 hrs! See diabetic midwife, she's happy with levels, so no more finger pricking for me, YAY! Poor sore fingers, what a relief, I dont have GD but will still keep an eye on my sugar intake, which cant hurt with me losing excess babyweight in a few weeks! Saw nearly every midwife & nurse we've ever seen today & our lovely sonographer, we waited an hour to see consultant but hardly stopped chatting to everyone which was really nice, when we did see consultant he was extra bright & breezy too and agreed that we should be induced at 38 weeks!!! EEK! DH and I were like excited school kids at xmas as we waited for the midwife to come in with our date! Consultant happy with all other aspects but agrees cos of large baby, SPD, 2 vessel cord, and glucose worry, that although all perfectly fine, for us he is happy to induce!!! He is such a lovely man and I felt so emotional, I kept grabbing his hand & thanking him, we see him again in 2 weeks & I felt so emotional today that all this fantastic care from such a fantastic team of people is soon coming to an end!!!

Sooooooooo, we were given the date of Saturday 22nd May! That could be our little girls birthday if all goes well and moves quickly!!! I know it can take a while so am prepared for that but just feel so excited! Sweepstake off for me then! Cupcake - takes you over by 2 days but c'mon girl! LBM too!

We saw midwife after for birthplan and DH and I like giggly kids! Such an emotional rollercoaster however, Monkey tx this morning to say at her gynae she was surrounded by preg ladies, I told her about MNs MC code of practice they are trying to pass so that doesnt happen, & how all my pre op checks were done at EPU which is within ante natal, and how I now sit and look at the ladies in those chairs with a heavy heart knowing they may be doing the same as I once did, and how much it must hurt them to see me & others waddling around... Once we were all done today we were waiting to make follow up apt with consultant at ante natal reception desk which is right outside one of the EPU scan rooms, we saw our sonographer again as she come out, I started saying with a grin, 'we're still here!' then saw her followed by a poor teary young woman who had to walk past the queue of me & other heavily preg women, it just broke my heart and tears stung my eyes immediately.. Our sonographer walked back to us a few minutes later and I just flung my arms round her & said how sad it made me to see that, and what an amazing job she does, and the tears were just flowing, I couldnt stop them, all the emotions of how far we've come, but how raw those memories still are, wow it really hit me, I just feel so so so grateul to have got this far, but so so so sad for those still struggling... Soooooooo emotional! I just had to share that on here with you all....

Right Im now off to collapse on sofa! Poor DH and I are SHATTERED! Back for catch ups ASAP! NO hospital apts at all next week! Am ideally planning on not leaving the house!!!

loueytbg · 29/04/2010 22:29

I'm back and trying to catch up - bear with me

monkey I'm glad you had so much support the other night and I'm sorry I wasn't around to give you a hug too. So here is one from me now and I hope things are feeling a bit brighter today (despite having to face PG women at the gynae appointment). Hope you get to go to the star garden soon and you have a nice few days away.

mermaid I did tell you I was drunk . Sorry for mixing up the boob flashing incident (and to barbie too). How are you doing?

4ever that's GREAT news. I can tell you are over the moon. Hope you have a very uneventful week next week and a nice restful weekend.

Vjay your DH sounds so thoughtful. What a lovely thing to do. Mine is absolutely useless at doing things like that. Still waiting for a birthday present and I can't even blame it on having chldren now because he was like it before Hope you had a better night sleep last night. Teething is a rotten phase.

QA I'm glad you're back . I'm glad your cycles are getting back to normal, at least you know that you can try when you decide its the right time for you to TTC again.

curly the bad days are normal. I think you just have to be aware of PND when you have more bad days than good. I remember having days when I felt so low when DTs were tiny but it was almost always related to lack of sleep. I still have days where I metaphorically want to kill them.

iggy woohoo for internet shopping. Are you bankrupt yet

cupcake I'm of anyone who can knit, let along booties which look complicated to me. Sounds like you are enjoying your maternity leave

Gracie that's a wonderful thing to do. DS2 was in SCBU for a few weeks after he was born and the really small babies could use the donated breast milk there but obviously there was a limited supply. Must have a peek at the pic of Isabelle when I get a chance.

blue I'm glad the christening went well. I've just a letter from the hospital chaplain about a similar service - held once a year. Its in a couple of weeks. It is a lovely thing to do, but I don't know if I will go. I'm not sure it will help me TBH.

Jools glad you are having a lovely holiday and I really love the sound of chocolate martinis

neeko and mls glad you had lovely meet up. Neeko - impressive weight gain from your milk monster

barbie sleep deprivation is a killer. I hope you are geting some more now.

LBM happy maternity leave . Chickpeas are also good for increasing iron levels (discovered when they put me on iron tablets after my ERPC).

Moon

Waves to pfj, hope you're ok.

DH has just informed me that the Liverpool game is going to extra time so I've got a bit longer to update with my news.

We've had a nice few days away - despite going to bed too late and being woken up too early by DTs who were about a foot away from our bed. My birthday was lovely and ILs babysat so that we could go out for dinner in Truro. Went to the beach yesterday and DTs had great fun running in and out of the sea which was freezing. It reminded me why we normally try and go somewhere hot.....

On the TTC front, still waiting for TEW and it is a few weeks away yet but (TMI) have DTD with DH without protection. I suspect he thinks I can't get PG yet because its too soon soon after ERPC (and he's probably right) but I think its a good sign and hopefully he may be changing his mind about TTC again.

Otherwise, we are starting to potty train DS1 tomorrow which I'm so not looking forward to. DS2 was trained last summer and he was hard enough - It was the week from hell. DS1 still has poos which are like a newborn (ok, perhaps not like gracie's isabelle but you get the drift....) Have got magnetic star chart, chocolate buttons, new big boy pants which he has chosen and lots of wine for us. Think my diet will be starting next week. Oh and I was supposed to be watching the debate whilst DH was watching the football but have been on here. Still have no idea who I'm going to vote for

barbie1 · 30/04/2010 05:02

yawn.....just catching up. will be back

Neeko · 30/04/2010 08:32

Another sleep-deprived lurker here. Apologies in advance for missing people out.

Monkey a huge belated hug from me. Hope your break away is helping a little.

Mermaid How you bearing up? feel any different? Is it Wed for the scan?

4ever Yay the end is in sight. Really pleased for you.

Vjay hope you got some sleep last night and that Ajay has a shiney new tooth.

Gracie lovely pic. Isabelle has lovely hair -MLS will be jealous.

Louey Glad you had a nice trip and yay to the BD. Good luck with the potty training.

Moon Anything to report?

Curly How are you? I've been having a couple of flat days too and they're horrible. Bloody horrormones. Big hug.

Barbie Has devon recovered from her jags yet?

Cupcake loving your nesting posts. Not long to go. Are you going to vajazzle when you wax?

Iggy bet you're counting down the weeks til mat leave now. Hope it flies in.

QA another Pacey lover here. Can I have some cake?

H was one month old yesterday Going to a breastfeeding workshop today as the breastfeeding mum did it with DD1but she was older and feeding was better established. Been up most of the night so not enthusiastic.

My chocolate free month starts tomorrow!

bluesatinsash · 30/04/2010 09:58

Hi guys,

Quickie whilst B sleeps...

Neeko - yawn! me too. B up at midnight, 3am and 5.45am but knew he would be as his feeds were short yesterday. He gets distracted when his big brother is about and his 4pm feed took place in my volvo after taking DS1 to park! Hope you enjoy the BF support group. I've been going to mine for a few weeks and its really, well, supportive . So many of us have/had colicky/windy/fretful babies it was so reassuring that it wasn't just mine! I was able to report on Tues that B has been a star over past couple of weeks and fretful feeds are down to 2 per week rather than 2-3 per day.

Louey - big Liverpool fans in our house too! DH was gutted. I hid up here talking to my SIL on FB as DH brother big fan too. Good luck with the toilet training. DS1 trained himself at 25 months BUT he still in night time nappy at nearly four . He still has milk at bedtime so need to cut that out first and just not got energy for accidents and night waking from him when I'm up with his wee brother! Glad you had a good break away and managed to surupticiously bd with your DH .

QA - there are a few Pacey lovers on here . Barbie and me have already had a hair pulling episode over him . He was just divine .

4ever - eeeek! So exciting, getting your induction date man oh man!!!! A great time of year to be born (I was born on 29th May!) but don't think you'll last until then - well I hope not! So relate to EPU and not knowing anyone's story when your all sitting there waiting to go in. We've been on both sides of the fence and I was so mindful of other ladies when I went for my - oh 18 scans this time around. Its just so that happy and heartbreak are all there waiting in that corridor..

monkey - so you had to wade through pg women. Hope you're having a lovely break with your DDad and DS.

Gracie - Isabelle is just a peach .

Off 'out' tonight - well going round to friend's house who lives 5 mins away. B still not taking a bottle so I'm only going for couple of hours (friend is hosting children's clothes party - like Tupperware but more expensive!). Have expressed there just not but only got 2oz probably because he fed like a mad man during the night.

Better dash and do some dusting whilst B sleeps.

Will have quicke lurk at bathtime

Love to all x

iggypiggy · 30/04/2010 10:15

hello all!

neeko is 7 weeks today till my mat leave starts (yes I have been counting ) - breastfeeding workshop sounds v. good - is one of the things I so want to do, but worry that I might fail at...

4ever wow - can't believe we now so close to your baby being born - so so exciting after such a long weebly journey for you. I think I may cry when I hear your birth announcement...

Louey glad you had nice birthday! And v. good news about the unprotected BD action - I think is a good sign for ttc...

QA I am obsessed with baking cakes - what was it?! I am wanting to try to make a battenberg... but I do have a serious marzipan habit...

monkey still thinking of you - but hope you enjoying your break.

mermaid also thinking about my lovely - I hope you are hiding safely in the sand.

gracie gorgeous pic of isabelle!

sleepybarbie hope you got more that 2 hrs last night?

cupcake love the idea of all the booties are they easy? I keep meaning to start neeko's pattern - but am still plodding along with a baby hat - which am v. slow at!

moon how are you? Any news?!

curly hope curlygirl is still improving!

vjay meant to say well done on your mark!

I am all happy today cos it's Friday and it's a bank holiday weekend! And also cos I had a hypnobirthing class yesterday - which was amazing!

cupcakefairy · 30/04/2010 11:47

Hi girls, it actually is morning when I'm posting for once

qa Desperate Housewives is flipping brilliant..had a bit of a downer in seasons 2 & 3 but 4, 5 & 6 (so far) are so amazing. DH won't even let me watch it without him he loves it too
I ADORE Pacey too, yummy yummy yum! But blue would you choose him over Aiden? tough call!

4ever yippeeeee to having a date so exciting!! I'm totally hoping our los will be born on the same day! So poignant what you said about epu/antenatal clinics though

monkey so sorry you had that horrible experience of pregnant ladies everywhere but hope the appointment was positive.

iggy 7 weeks, yay! The booties are sooo so easy. I'll email you the pattern to add to your collection I'm trying a hat now too (because neeko I'm so still not advanced enough for the cardi I don't even know how to increase stitches, rubbish.)

louey glad your break away was lovely and good luck with the potty training!

moon are we still ?

Yippee for bank holiday! Dh and I off to a hotel/spa for the night tonight I'm soooo excited some friends told us yesterday that they reckon their ds came 3 weeks early cos she had a jacuzzi the day before so maybe I should try that!!

barbie1 · 30/04/2010 13:30

Sorry... im soooo tired im finding it a little hard to keep up with posting lately

I feel so bad that i wasnt around yet again for monkey i always seem to be awol when someone really needs the support badbarbie So a belated hug and sorry to monkey.I hope the star gives you some peace and it will be nice to have a place to go and remember. Our lo is still in newcastle, they too had a buriel service for the mummies of the lost lo's...i didnt go, just couldnt face it. It really hit me when we had to move to dubai, felt like i was leaving a piece of me behind...hence the star on my wrist, i know now that i will always remember where ever i am

mermaid how are you holding up? still in your hard hat???

curly and vjay im glad im not the only one worrying that i might have pnd....i have had a few bad days lately, i just cant seem to stop beating myself up about sleep routines and lack of it. Dh was really worried about me the other day and asked if i was coping ok ...this lead to more tears as i thought he was accusing me of not coping. I know now that my bad days seem so much worse after a bad nights sleep so im putting it down to that. Im just going to go with the flow over the next few weeks and see how it goes...lack of support over here doesnt help. Devon goes to bed at 7.30 now...it takes a while to get her to sleep but when she goes its for about 3 and a half hours, the problem being she refuses to go back to sleep, until about 7.30am! last night was the first night she went back to sleep after each feed, although it took a little while of cuddling..slowly slowly catch a monkey and all that! The problem seems to be that i miss the first sign of her being tired and before i know it she is overtired and then we battle for her to give in! Any ideas anyone????

4ever i cant stop smiling for you the end is near!!!!

moon ?

louey Potty training? boy oh boy i have forgotten that sleep isnt going to be my only battle

cupcake im so at your spa break...i could do with some serious pampering myself. Enjoy!

neeko are the picture up of the big meet? mls i hope you are enjoying whats left of your trip...how is bump?

gracie lol at the poo! Devon wee'd on daddy yesterday, all over his work stuff...first time ever, its normally over me!

Oh dear i have to help dh, she is screaming with tiredness poor thing

Oh and for all of you not on fb i have added another picture on my profile...back soon x

Sabs1981 · 30/04/2010 14:02

Hi ladies, hope everyone is well and looking forward to the bank holiday weekend. What does everyone have planned?

Just wanted to ask if anyone else can see a facebook and twitter sign on each of the posts? Think it means anyone can tweet or add our posts on their facebook page?

Will be back soon for a catch up but wanted to send a big hug to monkey, and also to mermaid, moon and anyone else who wants a hug from me

VJay · 30/04/2010 17:08

Hello, saw my HV today, Ajay weighed in at 20lbs 7oz, little fatty , can't believe he is 8 months tomorrow.

Got to go, Ajay is over tired, but needs a bath first, little smelly

PS 4ever

BlueMoon1981 · 30/04/2010 19:52

hello girls, happy long weekend

oh barbie your dd is absolutely gorgeous, she has a lovely mouth, so cute! glad to see you back, i'm sure you are coping just brilliantly, dont be too hard on yourself, as long as your girl is happy and healthy then you are doing everything right, and i'd be worried if you weren't tired!

iggy i LOVE marzipan! i made a simnel cake over Easter and for the first time made my own marzipan, and omg is it the most scrummiest thing ever, i ate most of it before it even reached the cake

cupcake have a lovely time, and enjoy some well deserved pampering

hi sabs i see the new logos too but as i am not on either i dont know what it means!

wow vjay 8 months, time flies, i am so pleased you and all the other yummu mummies are still here

waves to blue and neeko and welcome back to louey, and lots of love to those i've missed

cd33

have had some bad news on dfs side of the family today, 2 things so far so i am pessimisticly (is that even a word?) expecting a 3rd even now may not be around much over the next few weeks, but i will lurk when i can and of course update with any news

BlueMoon1981 · 30/04/2010 19:53

yummy mummies

CurlyBigPants · 01/05/2010 06:01

Moon don't go anywhere. If we can help with anything let us know. And please we need daily updates on AF or hopefully lack of it

sorry for lack of personals but I'm so dogtired I'm just going to stare at a spot on the wall while gorgeous curlygirl feeds can't wait to catch up properly with you all and def need long chat with barbie and a few others as it sounds so familiar. Big hugs to everyone especially mermaid and monkey xxx

GracieGirl · 01/05/2010 07:18

Barbie, Curly and Vjay - me too, she won't sleep just cries an awful lot just lately. Sorry too tired to post, DH working 14 hour days all through the weekend too.

mermaidspurse · 01/05/2010 09:57

morning sleepy mums, restless to be mums, intrepid travellers and and braveladies.

I am sitting here trying not to be sick please, please let this be a big sparkly good symptom. I would even go and get vjazzled if it meant it was a good sign.
I only have till Wednesday to wait so it's not been so bad really has it? All I have to do is get through a nice long bank holiday and casually stroll into the epu a day later. I am totally cream crackered and when I walked into work yesterday a car had it's window open and the smell of a magic tree was the vilest thing I have ever smelt first thing in the morning. Horrible carciogenic dangly thing.

so I am tired, eating weird things I hate, acute sense of smell and see above very hormonal with irrational hatred of dangly things in cars = mermaidthehopeful 4ever I am so made up that you have your edd Especially pleased that you will be all safely cuddled up with your little pink bundle before my holiday which I feel we all need after getting you through these nine months of rollercoastering. I can sit on a beach thinking that my job is done I can't believe that you are nearly there, it's just fantastic.

cupcake you too calm knitting lady. I have a mental picture of you knitting in a jacuzzi this weekend now But I think the last few weeks practically crawl and everyone else is on tenderhooks. What music have you got lined up? Nice to think of you having some couple time.

lbm Congratulations on finishing work Hope you had a good send off. I would say put your feet up but have a feeling you are going to be dashingwaddling around sorting all that baby stuff.

vjay 67% in my day was always a good strong 2.1 mark so I think that's a very respectable high 5. Another high 5 to ajay the whizz. Did ds1 go back to his lesson this week? Incidentally I have read a bit about merina coils contributing to feelings of depression, don't mean to add scary ideas into the mix though as I am sure stopping bf must make you seesaw with hormones.

curly your description of staring at the wall took me right back to being where you are, dear of you. It feels like it will never end. You are doing so well and the end result will be a very contented and happy curlygirl, a masterpiece can never be hurried

barbie that goes for you too, do not beat yourself up you are a fantastic mum, just a very tired one.

blue Hope you had a good night out. Your ds christening robe is just lovely btw. how are your veggies bearing up? I am sadly very behind, not even got my tomatoes yet

gracie your dd has definatley been here before what a gorgeous little girl she looks so alert. Hope she is not being quite so alert at night though, it must be hard with your dh long shifts.

neeko hope you too are ok, big kiss for that little milk monster from here.

moon would you like some sand to go with the sorry to hear that you have some family stuff to cope with. I hope your df is ok.x

louey glad you had a good time away, to me dinner in Truro is the hight of sophistication good luck with the nappy training and that is ace re the ttcing practice.

iggy another calm knitting big panter. omg at your maternity leave speeding towards you, hope the house hunting/selling is moving a little too.

monkey I don't know if you are home yet after your break but hope it has been a begining of a little healing for you all. Thinking of you so very much.xxx

qa a big yes to cake making from here but today I am going to make watercress soup cos mls reminded me and it's got lots of iron in it. mls hope you enjoyed scotland and you are blooming and ok.

phew right have a great weekend everyone

mermaidspurse · 01/05/2010 09:59

opps sabs sorry I forgot you lovely athletic lady. Have a great long weekend and give saara a big kiss from me, still no sign of a tooth?

VJay · 01/05/2010 14:31

mermaid it is all sounding very hopeful , I got goosebumps reading all your symptoms, it's all very positive .
I have looked at my score and as long I don't drop anymore marks I will be fine . As for the depression I spoke to the HV yesterday, had a really good chat, she is lovely, and I've come to the conclusion that I'm not depressed but could be if I don't nip it in the bud now, so I'm off to the docs on Tuesday to see if they can refer me to cognitive behavoural therapy. I need to talk it out. I know where my previous depression stems from, and it's all linked (childhood). At the moment it is coming out as me being hypersensitive to people, the wrong thing said or a funny look and I'm going mad analysing everything. I'm tired which doesn't help. But on the plus side, I am so happy with my homelife, my dh and boys, that's why I know I'm not depressed, but could spiral if I don't sort my issues out. Wow, I tried to write this yesterday but couldn't, there's a positive step

barbie D is sooooooo cute. How are you today?

And gracie and curly how you two today too? gracie my dh works long hours too, though not quite as long as yours, but it is hard sometimes.

blue after talking about ds1's and there bikes my ds1 announced yesterday that he wants to learn to ride his bike! i'm so pleased we've tried for 18 months to get him on it but he's been too scared. He saw a little girl riding with no stablelizers and he thought it was cool, so now wants to do it for himself. So that's my job for tomorrow, so picture me running around a field with a buggy and a wobbly ds1 on his bike

cupcakefairy · 01/05/2010 18:58

Hi girls very chilled cupcake here after a lovely little break. I of course wasn't allowed to do most of the stuff so floated around in the pool while dh made use of the steam rooms and jacuzzis! Very nice though

Vjay amazing news about ds1 that's so fab and good for you seeking help that too is massively positive.

mermaid eeeee. I got excited reading your post too. Been thinking about you loads and just hoping with all my might x

gracie and barbie gorgeous pics

moon so sorry about bad news but as curly says do stick around and cry/rant/moan at us if you need to. Big hugs to you lady.

sabs grr I hate that those icons have appeared; why does everything have to end up on fb or twitter

Right, think I will get dh to make a cuppa and settle down to watch Over the Rainbow

loueytbg · 01/05/2010 20:18

Evening girls

I'm sorry so many of you are suffering severe sleep deprivation at the moment. There is a reason it is used as a form of torture Barbie, Curly, Vjay, Gracie, neeko really hope the sleep situation improves soon.

mermaid very good symptoms only a few days to wait, you can get there. We are all holding your hands until then and beyond.

vjay yay to DS1 for deciding to go for it. Hope it goes well tomorrow. Entertaining thinking of you running after him whilst pushing a buggy

cupcake so glad you had a fab time at the spa. Am very

moon I'm sorry you've had bad news. We're here if you want to talk. CD34?

sabs DS1 didn't get a single tooth until he was 12 months old. DS2 got his at around 8 months. Kids are very different. DS1 has been a much better teether than DS2, hope that is the case for Saara when she does eventually get her teeth coming through.

iggy am totally ignorant about hypnobirthing - was not something I'd ever heard of until recently. Glad your class was good.

LBM hope you are enjoying your first weekend as a lady of leisure

neeko can't believe H is a month old already. Sod the chocolate-free diet, it can wait. You need treats in the early days...

Hello to qa, mls, pfj, 4ever, monkey, blue and anyone else I've forgotten

I HATE potty training and to top it all I've now got a cold. Bleurgh. Hideous poo accidents today. Really don't know if we're doing the right thing because DS1 has developmental delay and I don't know if we're pushing it too early (although he is 3). Going to carry on tomorrow and then review. Off to drink red wine (purely for medicinal reasons you understand)

GracieGirl · 02/05/2010 04:33

Mermaid they are wonderfully good symptoms. You've done so well to wait almost 2 weeks so far, not long till your scan now.

Moon I'm sorry to hear you have had bad news. Do come back and talk to us when you can. ?

Louey I hope your wine made you feel better.

No sleep for me again.... Thanks Curly for your lovely supportive email, going to need to start using your shh-pat stuff. Isabelle in my bed taking up all the room, but at least she is asleep. All that crying has made my let-down reflex work overtime and so now I'm expressing.

Half sleep, I'm off - waves to everyone else!

bluesatinsash · 02/05/2010 12:39

Afternoon girls and happy bank holiday .

To everyone who is sleep deprived and struggling - big group hug. In my experience the 4 weeks to 3 months time is the hardest. You hit a wall tiredness wise after weeks of running on empty. I think the first few weeks we are just caught up in the euphoria of them being here and endlessly counting their toes and smelling them. But no-one can get by on so little sleep and still function. That's when the down days happen and we feel low, the relentlessness of it all can just be never ending. Worrying about their feeds, trying to establish routines, worrying about that, worrying about the house (my bathrooms are lucky to get washed once a fortnight still)

It does get easier when they become more predictable. The relentlessness of partenting never goes away but the older they get the more and more they give back. From that first smile, first grab of a toy, first belly laugh, sitting up fast forward to my DS1 who is nearly 4 and the fun we have singing together, dancing to music, reading and playing its just makes it all worthwhile.

Coping tips I would say absolutely stuff the housework and try to sleep when you can. Talk, talk and talk how you feel with your DH/friend's HV. Join every local baby group going (Sabs is a star at this ). Barbie it must be so hard for you with no family nearby - is there a mumsnet local in Dubai for meeting up with other Mums?

DH and me referred to the first 4 months as being "in the trenches".

mermaid - you are so strong and stoic getting through this past 2 weeks. Your symptoms are so positive, I can't keep my fingers crossed tight enought for you for Wed. Courgettes are waiting no my window sill in kitchen, going to garden centre today to get few more things then they are getting planted along with strawberries and potatoes tomorrow. Tomatoes unfort. haven't come through,,

louey - hope you enjoyed your red wine and have lived to fight another day of potty training

Vjay - glad you are talking things through and nipping things in the bud. I was very low 11 years ago after splitting up with bf and moving into my first flat. I found coping mechanisms then that I still use after reading some really good self help books. I find as long as I can see something good in my day every day and talk thinks out with DH or my Mum or friends it helps keep the demons at bay. Yay! to your DS1 wanting to ride his bike. Deffy bring it along when we meet up in June

cupcake - tricky, very tricky. Can I marry Aiden but flirt on the side with Pacey .

Moon - so shit you have had bad news, any sign of AF or are you still ?

All quiet here. DS1 is at Grannies, stayed there last night as DH had Sportsman's dinner and I can't do bedtime routine on my own as DS1 has meltdown if left on his own whilst I'm feeding DS2.. Soo glad DH is off tomorrow as B was up 3 times last night and woke to start his day at 6.20am - aaargh! He's sleeping now though - bliss.

I channel surfed last night and found myself watching North and South - remember that with Patrick Swayze about the American civil war? It was episode 2 series one (originally shown @1986) and I was hooked. Also watched S&tCity when Carrie first meets Aiden and The Thorn Birds for a bit too - mega retro night

Hey to everyone else, hope the sun is shining where you are, its trying to here x
