C'mon girls, this is the year. We will form a circle and concentrate hard on diffment.

Meanwhile, David and Jenson have popped the corks and are pouring out the Bellinis. Truckle of stilton anyone?

OP posts:

guten Morgan Gells,

Well it's basting day for me today, so the Boyf is currently down at the clinic 'vigorouly ransacking his dignity', shall we say, into a pot, whilst nurses wait expectantly outside the door...no pressure darling!

Then it's legs akimbo for me later...making polite conversation about the current financial crisis, with feet in stirrups and my 'growler' exposed!

CurlyCasper · 28/01/2010 09:16

Happy Basting Day Cho! (does she get candles on a cake for that?) Good luck and let us know how it goes.

RunLyraRun · 28/01/2010 09:19

Crikey Cho! Is that a delightful description of that there IUI bizness? Best of luck

iggypiggy · 28/01/2010 09:22

cho those conversations are the WORST soo... hasn't it been cold reecently etc etc... or in my case 'I do actually know your dad' WTF?!

skihorse · 28/01/2010 09:29

lol @ Cho

I never temped/charted/monitored. My cycles were regular and I was pretty sure I was OV'ing. I didn't think any spike on a chart to indicate ovulation was going to make me pregnant. What I needed was one swimmer + one egg to form a healthy combo and burrow in to my uterus - no chart was ever going to guarantee that. Although as curly said, following conception the temp charts might've indicated a result... - but I put that in the same category as poas from 1hour PO. A gusset full of blood usually gave the game away for me anyway. Please note, I was never bonkers enough to pee on a stick whilst bleeding!

idealcamel · 28/01/2010 09:33

ChooChooTrain Best of luck with the basting.

Igs Apparently when my mother was giving birth to me, the attending doctor had a child at her school and kept making polite conversation about how said kid was doing.

Casper Nothing wrong with temping per se - my graphes were textbook for the six months that I bothered with it. Just really helped fuel the madness, in that it meant that making a baby was the first thing I thought about every morning, and not in teh good sexxoring way. And my temps always stayed high until the day of my period, when they plummeted, which meant that I had the triple depression of oh, I've started spotting - that could be implantation - oh, my temps have gone down - that could just be random - oh, my period has started.

So I'm not advising against it based on not working - and hey, tis none of my business anyway - but on the basis of it destroying my fragile mental health...

salander · 28/01/2010 09:35

Morning Beshies

Good luck today cho, sounds.. um ..interesting
Cas - agree with the OV stix - they are fine if you have nice normal regular cycle but if not producing eggy every month makes you feel like crap when it just keeps saying 'no you have failed to ovulate'

Non-vg for self esteem. Thats why mine now gathering dust at back of 'babymaking' drawer in bathroom (yes really)

Fucking hell yet again I have an antenatal clinic going on in the next room to me, someone is taking the piss.

Scorpette · 28/01/2010 09:45

Good luck with the basting, Cho. Don't forget the glitter body spray to make your growler all special for the person doing the basting

Well, as I've said before, I temp and do OPKs and if we could get it working, I'd use the fertility monitor (which needs counselling to get over the fact Iggy ain't coming back). Even though I have regular cycles and fairly obvious ovulations. I am a consumate control freak and believing these things help are the only things that stand between me and a full-on babyfail breakdown.

Am such a little ray of sunshine today!

I also have a spazmo-fringe, thanks to an over-eager hairdresser and 6 massive angry red lumps/spots around the left hand side of my mouth. I am feeling ZEXY for a day spent dealing with the public.

iggypiggy · 28/01/2010 09:46

Camelina that would clearly be the wrong time to chat school...

I found ov sticks ok - but only used them one month... CBFM was bad, temping was too much.. so I mainly left it all to randomly fucking around the right time...

ChoChoSan · 28/01/2010 09:51

Thanks for the best wishes, everyone, I have chopped up a few lines of babydust, and I am currently snorting them through a rolled up twenty....and I hope that you will all join me in rubbing your ovaries widdershins, so as to send me good 'energy'.

Re. temping - this was very helpful for me, as I established that I normally ovulate on CD17 or 18...so fertile window later than commonly thought.

However, my cycle is regular as clockwork...it doesnot seem as usual to those with irregular cycles. Also, it does make you menkul...as someone sadi above - the first thing you think of everyday is baybee making!

Ivytheterrible · 28/01/2010 09:56

Igpig The nurse asked me "are you (my mums name) daughter?" at a smear test a few years ago and yes I was... she knew her very well and proceeded to tell me how much I'd grown up while ferreting around in my undergrowth. Rates as one of the most humiliating experiences of my adult life.

I'm not charting anything other than droid start dates and Eggy Gunk Gusset am ocd enough

Good luck Cho please report back...

iggypiggy · 28/01/2010 10:04

ivy I had a smear test from one of my friend's mum's once - I had no idea she was a nurse at the GP practice I was at.. the SHAME...

TwinkleToes76 · 28/01/2010 10:04

Good luck ChoCho! Is this your first IUI??

Hi Ivy - forgot to say welcome the other day! Have you already got your first round in? If not, line them up please cos I feel miserable today .

CurlyCasper · 28/01/2010 10:13

Fair point camel. If it drives you insane, it's not good. I think I fall into the scorps control freak category. I was quite happy to think of it first thing and even spend time over my cereal inputting data to Fertility Friend. My other half was always in bed at that point, so it didn't get in the way of our relationship or ought. I think if we had been getting up/ready/breakfast together, it might have been a little damaging that I was ignoring him and bonding with a thermometer!. But, I guess, in my case, once that was done I could get on with my day (and return to spreadsheet making in the evening )

I hate being chatted to while someone fusses with my foof. When I had my colposcopy and Lletz, they had pictures of palm trees, sandy beaches etc on the walls and ceiling, so you could drift off to another place. That didn't work for me, but as SFF was there taking the piss out of each and every one while I death gripped his hand, I was somewhat distracted. Thank fuck.

Ivytheterrible · 28/01/2010 10:14

twinkle yes but here is a triple just for you, to set you up for the day

I must do some work today so gotta dash apparently researching makin' baybees isn't actually part of my job description... must get that written in

iggypiggy · 28/01/2010 10:22

cas when i had a colposcopy, that was when the dr started talking about my dad

CurlyCasper · 28/01/2010 10:26

serious cringe iggs .
I actually had a very nasty nurse during mine, and nearly told her to fuck off. Never be a cunt to someone in a vulnerable position. Like a scared dog, they might bite. (And I have a redhead's temper anyway)

ChoChoSan · 28/01/2010 10:30

Hi Twinks,

This is my sixth cycle of IUI, though 2 were abandoned halfway through due to my over-response to Clomid, and possible Octomom scenario.

I got pregnant on my second IUI, but lost in, then got pregnant naturally...and lost that one too.

This cycle, and my last one, have been done naturally.

If this cycle does not work, I will kill myself move on to IVF...it's all getting very boring and yawny now after all this time, and I am beginning to fantasise about running off to Ibiza or somewhere and spending the rest of my life taking ecstacy and dancing to cheesy house music

ChoChoSan · 28/01/2010 10:35

Shucks Scorps.... forgot the glitter body spray...but hey, I work with kids...I can use normal glitter if I first apply a load of PVA glue!

Was it you who talked about your mum spraying glitter all over the hoo-hoo prior to an internal? I though I had read that on another (sandle-wearing/bleeding heart) talk board?

TwinkleToes76 · 28/01/2010 10:50

Sorry Cho I should know that

ChoChoSan · 28/01/2010 11:03

No Worries TwinkyBar, I can't keep track of everyone here either...things change so quick what with all the pre Xmas butter dish activity, and the ups and downs of the rest of us!

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 28/01/2010 11:20

Temping is the Way of Insanity. Well, it was for the 4 weeks I half-heartedly tried it.

I fancy some sort of cocktail with lots of fruit and an umbrella - David? Line them up please. Also some croissants so we can judge one another about how we eat them. And some crumpets. Cos I like them.

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 28/01/2010 11:20

Cho - happy Basting Day!

laurielou · 28/01/2010 12:34

Happy Basting Cho (& there was me thinking I had a tough afternoon at the dentist).

ChoChoSan · 28/01/2010 13:04

Killing time at the hospital ward....it's barrens-central here!
