Lovely lovely gynie specialist managed to whip out my Mirena (went astray, have posted before) without needing a GA (or three month wait for one) so am now officially TTC!

This (hopefully) will be my second DC, and am planning to use Persona to get to know my cycle a bit.

Is there a board I can join? Feel a bit weird about just jumping on to those great long boards where everyone knows each other...

sparechange · 23/09/2009 15:29

hello
Can I also join in?
I'm also new to all of this (and haven't worked out all the acronyms) but after furiously reading all the boards for a few months, DH and I are taking the plunge and I've been off the pill for 3 weeks

Ticklepeanut · 23/09/2009 15:34

Hi sparechange It's very confusing isn't it! What acronyms are you stuck on? Someone on here's bound to know?

sparechange · 23/09/2009 15:39

When I think I've worked out that AF is a period, but the cylcle numbers/stats are still a total mystery!
I think our first plan of action is just to try the 'lots of sex' method
If we don't get anywhere with that after a few months, I should probably draw myself one of these charts I keep reading about

Ticklepeanut · 23/09/2009 16:09

Heh-heh! Yeah, we're going with the old-fashioned method first, and if that fails we'll start looking into the more technologically advanced approaches.

TTC# is the which baby you're trying to conceive - so your first would be TTC#1, second TTC#2, and so on.

CD is 'cycle day' - ie which day you're currently on, where day 1 of your cycle is the first day of your period.

UCL is 'usual cycle length' - so UCL28 for example, or UCL?? seems to be used if you're not sure or have irregular cycles.

DPO means 'days past ovulation' I think, but then you're getting into taking it really seriously territory!

That's where I'm up to, so if anyone knows any more, feel free to add?

lucybrad · 23/09/2009 16:24

well, its day two for me after mirena removal. Havent actually started trying yet as way too busy. Have furiously bought a million ovulation tests in preparation, as i dont want to have too wait too long. Sorry to hear about those that had to get off the april bus, brings it home how fragile this all is. Hopefully we will all be super fertile this month hehe.

sparechange · 23/09/2009 17:05

Thank you tickledpeanut
I feel a bit like the kid that joins halfway through the term and has to ask teacher lots of stupid questions...
Well my our original plan was to start with gusto in the new year, but I let slip to DH that part of my reasoning for waiting is not wanting a summer baby (and in my head, it really is that easy to plan exactly when this will happen) but he looked a bit being a july baby himself, so we're just going to give it our best shot (or his, anyway) and see what happens

lucybrad · 23/09/2009 17:24

last time i had may babies, which was perfect as i had the whole summer to enjoy them, this time though, the kids will be off over the summer, so i think i would rather it was after that, then i will only have one to look after during the day. lat time took 7 months though, so i am going to let god decide!

tiffanys · 23/09/2009 17:48

Hi all

A big welcome to those that are new!

I too am syptom spotting, I cant help it.... today I was really tired at work almost to dropping of, so was going to mail the dh at work as I was so excited, then it came to me that I was up twice in the night with my poorly dd... funny what ttc can do to you!

Ticklepeanut - I got my cheapies from wilkos... I am going to definatley not try and refrain from testing until af is at least a few days late so I may not need to buy loads of tests.

Is anyone else testing soon or having any sypmtoms?

good luck to all

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 23/09/2009 19:15

I'm not testing or wymptom spotting
Hoping that this time my cycle is back on track and we're going to be managing a bit of fun under the duvet more regularly this coming month.
I had this odd thing in my head after ds was born that I would need to fall pregnant in October to have a July baby to spread out the birthdays to quarterly so maybe that was an omen.

I would hate to be pregnant over the summer again I was with dd (6 next week) and that summer was the hottest on record for a gazillion years or something and it was awful I spent most of it lying on my bed in bra and knickers with 2 fans blowing over me.
Luxury or what??

WestYorkshireGirl · 23/09/2009 19:19

Hi Tiffanys

I am only on CD10 so ages to go yet Good luck.

Sparechange - still getting the hang of the acronymns too!

nymphadora · 23/09/2009 20:29

I am seriously confused by the
mucus thing , am I supposed to go looking for it or does it just appear?

confuseddoiordonti · 23/09/2009 20:55

Good question nymphadora! Wish I knew the answer...

Ticklepeanut · 24/09/2009 09:32

(This whole post is probably TMI - but then, is anything really TMI on this thread?)

Nymphadora I can only speak from personal experience, but in my case cervical mucus just appears. The quantity probably varies, like all things, between people, but I notice it on my knicker gusset. Wearing black knickers helps, especially when it comes to distinguishing between the white stuff and the clear stuff! It's white and sticky for a few days for me, then goes clearer and slippery - most commonly compared to egg white (the EWCM abbreviation you might see on other threads refers to 'egg-white cervical mucus' I think) for a few days before going back to white and sticky. I then have a few days of nothing much at all before AF arrives and again after AF has finished before the whole thing kicks off again. Hope that helps!

waspylady · 24/09/2009 10:53

Hi Nymphadora

I'll add my tmi for you in case that helps too.

The 'egg white' consistency mucus for me means that I will ovulate the next day or the day after, so it's a sign to get busy!

It just appears about day 12ish of my cycle every month but it saves on predictor tests!

Hope this helps.......

NichyNoo · 24/09/2009 12:33

Hi ladies - can I join too!! Am confused by all the acronyms on the longer boards and would feel a bit of a fraud posting there!

I'm 29 and TTC#1. Month 2 of trying (although month 1 doesn't really count as we only started having unprotected sex the week after I think I ovulated). According to the MN ovulation calculator I ovulated last weekend (cue mad bouts of furious sex so am now waiting for AF.

Have got lots of hen weekends and weddings in the coming months so probably not the best time to be secretly avoiding alcohol (haven't told anyone in RL that we are TTC)

girlsyearapart · 24/09/2009 12:47

Hello can I join too?

We are trying for a 3rd.

came off the pill about a fortnight ago.

We were going to wait a while longer but fil had major heart attack this week and I decided that life's too short! (he gets out of hosp today so things looking better)

First two pregnancies happened the first month of trying so I'm trying not to expect lightening to strike 3 times over..

sparechange · 24/09/2009 13:10

Hello nichy
hello girls
Is anyone else telling anyone in RL?
My dad phoned me last night to ask if we want to go on holiday with them next summer.
It was about all I could do to stop myself blurting "well with any luck, I'm not going to be in any fit state to travel by then"

girlsyearapart · 24/09/2009 13:18

Have told 1 friend.See her most days she would spot it a mile off if I was pg. Wouldn't tell anyone else.
My dds are only 1 and 2 and both my parents a
and my mil would think NOOOOO! Leave it at 2.
EAsier to present them with the 'I'm Pregnant' fact I reckon.
Can't you make something up about money/work/possible wedding invite?

stillfrazzled · 24/09/2009 13:24

Hi nichy and girls.

I've told several friends, but only because trying to get rid of my Mirena took several months and became a bit of a saga. I am not planning to tell anyone else we're trying - after all, that's really just announcing that you're having unprotected nookie and it seems TMI for family...

OP posts:
NichyNoo · 24/09/2009 13:25

My dad has also asked us to go on holiday with him and my stepmum in May - they've 'booked' his SIL's villa in Spain

I provisionally agreed and said that we might be TTC in 2010...no-one knows that we have started early.

No-one in RL knows....not sure how I would keep it from my bezzie mate if AF doesn't arrive - I'm her bridesmaid in November.

earoma · 24/09/2009 14:15

hi girls was wondering if you could help this is my first post i have a short 26 day cycle and had a day 19 prog result of 49 have been feeling sick the last couple of days and my temp has remained high since ovulation except for a small dip on day 20 was feeling quite positive as we've been trying for a year now but did a test today and got a BFN so confused as too what my bodies up too i'm 38 and begining to feel so dejected but my day 3 results were also good this month i don't know what to do any help please

Ticklepeanut · 24/09/2009 15:13

Hi newcomers!

Sorry earoma, I have no idea. Maybe wait a few days and test again?

I have only told a friend at work in RL - she's viewing me as a test pilot for pregnancy, so I have to let her know how I'm getting on every day. Really scared to admit to my parents that I'm trying (not sure they'd approve) so would wait until it was 3-months definite.

TMI symptom report: yellow cervical mucus, not unlike when you've got a bad cold (eeuw I know, sorry!). Not lots, but consistently for the last couple of days. Haven't had it before I don't think, and don't feel uncomfortable as I would expect to if it was an infection. Anyone had this or heard of this when TTC or actually pg? Thanks!

WestYorkshireGirl · 24/09/2009 15:45

I have 2 days off work and guess, what? I get a bad cold . Feeling miserable at home with sore throat, headache and blanket, but have noticed CWM - does this mean I should cast off the blanket and get busy today and next day or two? The words 'sod' and 'law' come to mind..... Tickledpeanut - you seem the oracle on CWM - what do you think?

Ticklepeanut · 24/09/2009 17:40

Heh, hardly an oracle - I've just been doing A LOT of reading on CM in the last 2-3 days!

Apparently having a cold can affect not just the mucus production in your nose, but elsewhere too. That's just something I read online, but as it is quite early in your cycle maybe it's just a coldy side-effect?

Still, no harm in having a go with your other half if you can manage it despite feeling yeuchy
