Right, as i'm still layed up on the sofa, I have just spent the last hour looking up charts and learning all about Basal temps. Hopefully will be able to put my learning to practise this month.

Which is the best OPK tests to consider?

claireinthecommunity · 03/08/2009 11:18

Good morning all

Thank you for the condolences and welcome sweetkitty. Sorry to hear of your chemical pregnancy, It's something I haven't experienced (don't want to say the wrong thing) but I hope things settle down for you soon.

Thought I'd join this bus as I'm on another thread (with some lovely posters) but it can get quite quiet at times, are we aloud to be in two places at once??

I'm experiencing a heavy and painful period just like last month, which was my first true period since coming off the pill. I don't remember my periods being like this before!

SnowBunny1 · 03/08/2009 11:19

Hi All

New passenger here, it's been nearly 4 years since I've ridden this bus.

1st month of ttc for DC2 and have no idea what my cycle is as have had coil for last 2 years and was on pill before that. If I'm on a 28 day cycle then I'm at 27/28 so fingers crossed that AF doesn't arrive in the next few days!

Good luck to everyone out there

xxx

Kaylo · 03/08/2009 11:22

Thanks for letting us stay Much appreciated!!

sayanything I'll be testing right before my wedding anniversary!! This is quite freaky now, things seem so similar. My anniversary is the 17th September - so will be testing the week before.

To all those who have AF visiting - hope she goes away soon for a nice long 9month holiday

To everyone else, happy BD'ing

xxxxxx

claireinthecommunity · 03/08/2009 11:22

x post with you Ladylou, can't be of any help regarding OPK's as haven't been down that path yet, but interested in what others have to say...

claireinthecommunity · 03/08/2009 11:26

Well, this thread certainly does move a lot quicker than the other thread I'm on, no chance of a X post there!!!!

Kaylo · 03/08/2009 11:30

x-post from me too!!

I agree this is definitely breaking the speed limit compared with the other thread I'm on too! Have never x-posted before!

HI TO EVERYONE!!!!

Ladylou83 · 03/08/2009 11:42

I agree, this is a very fast moving thread, its great. Is always nice to tap into MN and see new posts .

Anybody else really happy that AF is here now, but wants it to be over so they can get on with the rest of the month?

shesadiamond · 03/08/2009 11:43

Morning all,

my ov tests have arrived (dirt cheap off ebay) so I can test 3 times a day, depending on how obsessed I feel! Although after consuming my own body weight in red wine over the week, i've probably pickled whats left of my shrivelled up ovaries. (I'm way to old apparently - 36!) Anyhoo, i'm chilled out at the moment, will be dragging my bloke to bed early every night this week, poor sod! He loves it really, (yeah he's a man I know!) but now hes got a job to do theres no stopping him! Now starting to panic in case I dont ovulate, what then? Arrgghhh must stop typing ovulation, ttc, etc into google... i have work to do! Hope youre all ok, hot chocolate all round cos its too bloody cold for ice cream and I cant quite face another red wine or I'd pass the bottle round. Chin up girlies

ImmaterialGirl · 03/08/2009 12:03

Morning everyone!

sweetkitty thanks for the update! I'm starting to see how the list works now. Only a few days before we get to see some test action then.
Good luck and tons of babydust to everyone!

I have a question -I'm totally new to this TTC thing. I'm due to have a smear today (in a few hours -ugh). On CD9 is that going to mess with my chances this month?

Sorry if it's a stupid question but I'm only just starting to learn how my body works -never really had to think about it before...

sayanything · 03/08/2009 12:09

Immaterial Girl, having a smear now should be fine, I had mine on Friday and dr said it wouldn't interfere with TTC. Better to have it done now anyway, as they won't do it while you're preggers.

sayanything · 03/08/2009 12:11

And Kaylo I'm getting married on 12/09. This is getting a bit freaky (but in the nicest possible way)

Gargula · 03/08/2009 12:20

ladylou I've tried Boots OPK this month - I had a couple of packs left over from TTC my son (so they are a little out of date ).
They seemed to work OK - I got an increasingly strong line which peaked exactly when I thought I should be ovulating.
The only problem with them is they are expensive - I only bought them as they were on offer and didn't even get the chance to use them at the time. I'll probably just use up what I have and not bother with them again as I seem to be very regular (that's assuming I'm not pregnant this month )

Ladylou83 · 03/08/2009 12:28

Thanks for the advice Gargula . I think boots have got an offers on family planning stuff at the mo, so might have to ask DH nicely if he will pop down there later.

Sayanything Good Luck with your wedding. I got married just over a month ago, it was the most amazing day of my life.

How Ironic, I was going to put something on the thread about Smeer tests, my surgery has just phoned to say im due one. I have been putting it off for a year now, so probably should actually go get the test

Kaylo · 03/08/2009 16:04

Hi everyone - nice to see everyone getting along

How lovely has the weather been today?? Got 3 loads of washing done and dried!!! that never happens!

xxxx

LastTrainToNowhere · 03/08/2009 16:50

It's chucking it down in Wales today! We had our one sunny day of summer yesterday

claireinthecommunity · 03/08/2009 17:06

Yes the weather has been lovely Kaylo I didn't get any washing out though as busy with other things today.

Not long to go for your wedding day sayanything how are all the last minute plans going? And congratulations Ladylou on your recent nuptials. DH and I were at a wedding recently and there was a week old baby there who had been born exactly 9 months after the couples wedding day/night, which everyone found really funny and entertaining

shesadiamond I've just come back from town with a raspberry cheesecake and a bottle of Merlot, they will help to soothe my AF related aches and pains

claireinthecommunity · 03/08/2009 17:13

Lol LastTrainToNowhere we've been camping in Wales and had one or two thunder storms during our trip!. Over here in East Anglia it's been a lovely day

Ladylou83 · 03/08/2009 17:23

Its meant to always be sunny here in Devon. Went to sleep at 1 and it was raining, just woken up and its raining even harder. Who said the sun was meant to shine here?

Thanks claireinthecommunity . Everyone was expecting us to come back from hooneymoon pregnant, needless to say, it was just too bloody hot in greece to even contemplate BD. Oh well plenty of time now to change that one , well once the wicked witch has gone anyway....

SnowBunny1 · 03/08/2009 17:26

Did the first response early test today, supposedly can detect up to 6 days before period is due. BFN!! Great

Will give it untill the weekend and if still no AF will try again. It's so frustrating not knowing. A nice glass of red and some choccies should make me feel better

sayanything · 03/08/2009 18:16

Thanks LadyLoo and Claire! Tbh I'm not all that involved in the wedding preparations . We're having the wedding in my home country and my mother is basically doing everything and enjoying it a lot more than I would be. I just picked the dress really .

sky27 · 03/08/2009 18:54

shesadiamond hold the hot choc and go for the freezing [shivers] icecream. there was a study done about two years ago that found you can increase your chances if you eat two portions of full fat icecream a week Can't you tell I was a biologist

sky27 · 03/08/2009 18:57

sayanything I got married in Africa in December and that's about all I did, it was sooo stressfree, good luck and enjoy it!

sky27 · 03/08/2009 18:58

CONGRATS ladylou was it good?

sky27 · 03/08/2009 19:00

Update...two negative OPKs today (good should be around Friday). The grapefruit juice DOES work!!!

Hope everyone is well, relaxed and happy. Good luck to those testing soon
