HellsNB and Wickedwitchsouthwest does having a shorter period/longer cycle make any difference to when you ovulate.

I am particularly interested this month as DH is away for 1 week then home for 1 week and then away again for another week so our window of opportunity is much slimmer this month. He's going to need to go away after all the work he'll be doing

MrsR good to hear your good news.

Welcome to all newbies, fingers crossed for you all

tobago04 · 18/08/2009 08:18

Welcome memorylapse what no. are you ttc?
Morning everyone, glad your ok mrsrigby, hope you all got lucky last night

ImmaterialGirl · 18/08/2009 09:13

Morning all,

MrsR glad everything was ok! And I like your advice, might have to mention that to DP at some point...
I did breathe on him this morning again, and he said he couldn't detect anything, so who knows?

Welcome to all the newbies! We really need another BFP soon!

shesadiamond · 18/08/2009 09:29

think i'm about to hop off this bus ladies gutted.

will keep my fingers crossed for you all

TheKurgan · 18/08/2009 09:41

Sorry to hear that shesadiamond. You may be able to stay on the bus, though, if you conceived in your next cycle it would just about be a May baby still, wouldn't it? Or am I talking crap?
I am halfway through 2WW. Convinced myself my boobs were swollen this morning, until I put on my bra and saw the poor little things have got smaller if anything!

memorylapse · 18/08/2009 09:49

Im slightly embarrassed to admit im ttc number 5, my elder 2 are grown up and from a previous relationship..the younger 2 are 8 and 5..Im 37

tobago04 · 18/08/2009 10:03

Theres no need to be embarrassed, all shapes and sizes welcome
Your knowledge will be welcome too!

sky27 · 18/08/2009 10:41

MrsR Glad it's ok, don't sueeze it incase it causes an infection that'll stop you being able to go at it!

I love this thread it keeps it real for me. Well according to charts, opks etc I think i ov'ed in last day or so. So now on 2ww ggrrr lol. Should be testing about my birthday...that'd be a great prezzie (or a massive dissapointment)

Good luck everyone

morefaith · 18/08/2009 11:38

hie all can l join the bus?

shesadiamond · 18/08/2009 11:43

Thanks TheKurgan was feeling really down about it when I posted earlier, ready to give up, the disappointment is really starting to hurt now. But you are right, if my cycles stay at 25-6 days then could still be a May baby, which would be lovely as I am too!
Has anyone tried/or using Clearblue Fertility Monitor? Is it easy to use? I'm not having much luck with the cheapy opk tests and the temping thing is would only make me way more obsessive than I want to be. Any advice would be appreciated.

MrsRigby · 18/08/2009 12:07

Why did I do it?

Do what I hear you ask.

Take a pregnancy test - a BFN.

Honestly, sometimes my stupidity amazes me. I mean what the hell did I think was going to happen. DH and I have only been trying 2 weeks, I have PCOS and I don't think I'm anywhere near due a period.

So again I ask why did I do it, especially as I'm now sitting here miserable, thinking it's never going to happen and almost ready to give up.

I'll tell you why I did it, because I'M CONVINCED I'M PREGNANT .

Why am I convinced, I don't really know considering it took us about 2-2 1/2 years to conceive last time, but the lower abdominal cramping might be a good place to start.

It's entirely possible I am pregnant, given that last time I knew as soon as I'd conceived. It might be that I tested wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too early.

This is not my fault. I want to be pregnant. I am doing everything I can to get pregnant including having sex every other day, taking metformin and prenatal vitamins, trying to follow a healthy diet and abstaining from caffiene. It is not my fault I have PCOS, it's not something I asked for. It is out of my hands that DS goes to nursery in November, I have to go back to work and even if by some miracle I did get pregnant the baby would not be born soon enough to stop DS going. Idealy another baby would have been conceived sooner to stop there being such an age gap, but that wasn't possible.

It is not my fault, I'm doing everything I can. It's just so bloody annoying.

On the plus side DS is taking a nap.

bluesnowfalcon · 18/08/2009 12:33

Hi

I'm new to the buses but thought I'd see if I could suss it out and join in.

I've recently come off the pill and TTC first baby. I came off Microgynon on the 4th July and had withdrawl bleed on 6th and 7th but very light. Waited 33 days for af to show on 8th aug til 11th.

Used to be regular at 28ish days but this first one seemed to take an age to arrive even did pg test and got BFN.

Now waitin to see what happens this month

Maybe someone can help with the info about cycle that seems to be posted?

Good luck all

bluesnowfalcon · 18/08/2009 12:38

Think info would be

Please check and correct me if i'm wrong! Not sure I have sussed this right???

sky well done on your test results, one thing less to worry about

Ladylou so, did you score last night?!

shesadiamond I hope this month will be luckier for you...hope you're feeling a bit better now. I use the cheapie OPKs so have no experience with the really expensive brands...do you monitor your EWCM?

MrsR glad your doc has put your mind at rest and sorry for your BFN but yes, it's entirely possible that you have tested too early. How many dpo do you reckon you are? Try not to beat yourself up too much about ttc, you're doing all you can and the show isn't over for you yet anyway! Also, the silver lining of a bigger age-gap is that your ds will be able to help you out much more with DC2 and you will be able to focus more on DC2 than if you had two at home

bluesnowfalcon · 18/08/2009 13:49

Many thanks NancyPreg

mampam · 18/08/2009 14:18

Welcome morefaith. I'm not sure how to include you in the list but there are plenty on Mumsnetters more clever than I who I'm sure will be glad to do it for you.

Having a bit of a 'what the f**k am I putting myself through this for' moment today. If it turns out I've not been successful this month I may have to give up TTC for a while. Basically we are skint, DH's job has gone from bad to worse (and getting worse still), we are both stressed out, we're having to sell things (basically any old crap that we may get some money for) just to raise enough money for the rent. My parents have given me some money towards the DC's new school uniforms because we can't afford them and basically DH and I feel like shit. I can't afford to go food shopping this week (luckily DC's will be at their dad's this week end), so I really do not think that this is the best environment/time to have a baby.

I kind of feel like we're in a bit of a catch 22 situation as DH doesn't have any DC of his own and right now in this shitty situation we're in if I was pregnant it would actually give us both something to look forward to, some kind of hope.

Anyway I didn't meaan to bore you with my problems, it's just good to blow off some steam.

memorylapse · 18/08/2009 14:38

my stats are cycle 1 UCL 32 TTC # 5

I havent used any OPK'S etc but worked out that I should ovulate any time around now and have been bd'ing accordingly

sayanything · 18/08/2009 14:41

shesadiamond I took the plunge and bought the Clearblue Fertility Monitor, but I've only just started using it (CD2), so don't really know if it works. Apparently, it will ask me to test on CD6 for 10 days or so, until it learns my cycle or whatever. But OPK didn't work for me either, I could never get my head around when to test, how many times etc so I thought sod it. There is a thread on MN about the Fertility Monitor and people on there seem quite happy with the results. I'll let you know how I'm getting on.

MrsRigby great to hear that the lump is nothing to worry about, but really sorry about the BFN. As you said, you're doing all you can, so please don't beat yourself up. You already have a child, so you know you can do it, it's a question of patience and perseverence.

I just thought of quoting Churchill and saying we must KBO, but I guess that would defeat the purpose, so we must KSO, MrsR, we must KSO...

bubbalewy · 18/08/2009 17:55

Hi everyone thinks for adding me to the bus, done some BD last night in case opk had 2 bars today ;) but it never had to buy another pack of sticks 20 quid.. I always justify it by saying it will be my last pack lol I just feel like i wanna see it in black and white now just to make sure a month isnt wasted.

bubbalewy · 18/08/2009 18:00

thanks not thinks
MAMPAM, there is never a perfect time to get pregnant really, Id go for it.. it will be a long way off im sure things will pick up for both of you

mampam I really, really hope that you get a juicy BFP this month because it would take away any decision making in an instant and boost your spirits too. Only you can make a decision to continue ttc (if a BFP eludes you this month) but you probably already know that it's only possible to plan to not have any dc, not when to have them. I hope your situation improves soon....

say interesting that the CBFM asks you for data from CD6 up until CD15 (10 days) because that wouldn't work for my cycle, given that I usually see my surge post CD16! If you don't see a surge during CD6-CD15, then perhaps you ovulate later than you think??

OP posts:
sayanything · 18/08/2009 18:47

Nancy, the instructions say that it could ask for up to 20 tests in the first cycle, so I suppose it would keep asking for tests until OV and then adjust accordingly for later cycles.

That's the theory anyways. This is the first cycle I'm using the CBFM for, so I'll see how it goes and report back.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 18/08/2009 19:17

evening ladies!

this bus is so busy!

snowbunny I get positive opk's between cd14 and 16 so I still seem to ov at the "right" time but must have a longer luteal phase.

oh so sorry shesadiamond hope next month is lucky for you

Hi thekurgan am also halfway thru the 2ww. Am still balloon shaped! BUT (and you're all going to know what a mentalist I am now) but last month I decided to keep a symptom record of 2ww so I'd at least work out if af is coming vs being pg! I looked over it just now and all the symptoms I'm feeling now (bloated / occasional sharp pains in lower abdomen / tired) are exactly the same as this point last month. Last month I wasn't pg (obviously) so I assume I'm not this month either. ARGH.

mrsrigby aaaaahhhhh!!!! I've done that every month since starting this ridiculous rollercoaster! I mentally slap myself every time the bfn comes up but then I was a day and do another coz I'm so convinced I'm pg! Anyway, who knows, you may have caught first time this time round? Keep testing (lol! ignore me!)

hi bluesnowfalcon welcome to the madhouse. Good luck!

mampam I'm so sorry...it's a shit situation to be in. I guess you've got lots of baby things from your dc that you could reuse? Or have you done what we've done and flogged loads? (kicking myself now about that). And this is abit cheeky, but if it was to be dh's first, would the grandparents-to-be help you out?

bubbalewy I use el cheapo sticks off ebay - £1.99 for 20 plus postage I think.
