So here it is... our shiney new thread... hope you all see it soon or i will be here all on my own.

OP posts:
Sunnydale · 21/12/2009 21:52

So glad you've passed D Day, Irish. FWIW I would recommend an early scan even if you do have to pay for it. Having walked in your shoes not so long ago, I can say that it was worth every penny just to be told there was a heartbeat at six weeks. Bearing in mind I'd CONVINCED myself I'd had another MC. I "allowed" myself a 6w scan and a 9w scan before the 12w scan, and while some might say that was a bit dumb / excessive, it got me through it, by breaking up the waiting into 3 week chunks. Every scan helped my confidence grow and my fear subside. Whatever gets you through it, do it!

Bubble, just echoing Irish and thinking of you and hoping that everything went as well as can be expected. Really hope to hear from you soon.

HeadFairy · 22/12/2009 14:54

hello everyone, sorry for long absence. I haven't given birth yet, but now I'm not working I can't get near the computer cos dh is such a pc-hog!!

Irish Glad you're past your d-day too.... it's a rocky road, but it leads to a great place. I hope you're not feeling too poorly, though in an odd way, I do too! Keep those hormones pumping!

I second Sunny's view about early scans. i was fortunate to be able to get them free, but I would have paid anything to have the reassurance. I had one at 8 weeks because I was off to a wedding in Jersey that week and I wanted to be sure everything looked ok, and then I had one at 10 weeks because I had a tiny bit of spotting. It did really help to break up that long wait for 12 weeks.

sunny congrats on having another girl.... so lovely for you and your dd must be so excited! We are most definitely a very female thread on here aren't we? We've got a decorator in at the moment painting our spare room a very sweet shade of blossom white for our dd... first bit of pink to creep in to our house, kind of makes it feel a bit more real!

Issy and jumping I hope the babies are being totally adorable and snuggly!

Bubble have you had your diathermy yet? I hope you're ok.

Not much news from me, I'm just sitting around waiting. I've just finished all my wrapping for Christmas, which I should have done ages ago, but couldn't face!

I'm booked in for a section on new Years eve, so if things don't get going by then, then dd gets a pretty cool birthday IMO No signs yet though, still 4/5 palpable so heading in the right direction but nothing major. the consultant did offer me a sweep yesterday, but (and don't laugh at me for this one) what with all the snow and travel chaos at the moment, I really don't want to do anything to get things going just yet! As it is I went to the hospital for a routine MW check up that should have taken 10 mins yesterday.. and ended up being stranded at the hospital for 7 hours with ds as the entire area was gridlocked with traffic. ds was going bonkers, stupidly tired but over excited too, and charging around like a loon. I'm afraid he got shouted at rather a lot yesterday by me, so we're having a very quiet day today, not leaving the house, just playing with toys and keeping warm!

Fun starts again tomorrow, with my aunt and uncle and cousins arriving from Madrid, so we'll go and spend the day at my mum and dad's with ds being spoilt rotten!

That's the lot from me, very dull and unexciting, but I guess that's what happens now, just waiting and waiting. Very odd because I didn't got through any of this last time!

I hope everyone else is well....

xx

bluesatinsash · 22/12/2009 15:39

Hello all and a very Merry Christmas to you all!

No news from me... no twinges really or anything, lots of BHs though. My heartburn is back so perhaps dd is backing away from the exit!

Bubble I'm glad to hear you're on the mend now, how rotten to have had an infection, I hope it's all clearing up now. I hope the new year/new decade means a lovely new bfp for you!

Hello to everyone else.. still waiting for some news blue!

I'm speaking to you from my lovely new netbook, so no more waiting for dh to stop playing his silly games, expect to see a lot more of me on here now... don't know if that's a good or bad thing though

I'm off for my very festive fish and chip supper now... can't face cooking anything more sophisticated! I hope everyone's had a great Christmas and Boxing day!!

bluesatinsash · 27/12/2009 18:58

Hi ladies - MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Sorry for wait but

I'm the v v proud Mother of another BOY . Benjamin Charles McGregor was born on Wed. 23rd December at 10.34am after long hard labour ending in another c-section. I didn't get past 8cm and reqested section after 23 hours of contractions on gas and air (it was f**king agony). Seeing him was just the most amazing feeling of undiluted joy . We got home on Xmas morning and have been getting to know him ever since. DS1 is over the moon having a wee brother. I've posted some pics and am just chuffed to bits and then some. Feeding is going well touch wood.

Time for an update!

Issy42 · 28/12/2009 11:19

Congratulations Blue - Benjamin looks adorable. Great that you managed to come straight home for Christmas and feeding is going well.

I posted a thank you for all your congrats, congrats to Irish and good luck to Bubble for the diathermy from my mobile in hospital, but just realised it didn't post, so apologies for seeming ungrateful. Thanks again. Glad you're on the mend Bubble.

Won't be long now Head - good luck! Sif and Wasabi - enjoy these last few weeks - get as much rest as you can. Sunny - enjoy the rest of the second tri. Hi to everyone else.

I've uploaded some pics of Eira now. They're from the day after she was born. I do have more recent ones but they're stuck on my camera as we can't find the bag with the camera leads in - I've seen it since I came home so it's here somewhere.

Eira has colic poor thing - she's not screaming but is sick a lot, has green nappies and is constantly pulling her legs up. Started her on infacol last night so hoping will help. I hate it when she pulls the 'I'm hurting' face and I can't make it go away. Hoping it's not affecting her weight gain too much as am desperate for her to be 5lb so can go out of the house with her - we're allowed short walks around the block when the weather's OK now but nothing more. Must go - have Eira in skin-to-skin and she's just woken up - not too impressed with my typing and squashing her. Take care everyone - hope you had a lovely Christmas and wishing you all a very happy new year.

HeadFairy · 28/12/2009 13:37

Hi Issy, sorry to hear Eira is suffering... ds was the same, not really screaming but a very sicky baby... I found a lot of the mumsnet remedies really helped, especially the tiger in the tree hold... as did holding him upright for about half an hour after every feed. A pain but it did make a difference. I hope she shows some signs of improvement soon!

wasabipeanut · 28/12/2009 20:28

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and are enjoying the "inbetweeny bit" and a bit of downtime. However, recipient of the best pressie award goes to Blue ! Congratulations to all of you on the birth of Benjamin Charles You must be so proud and rightly so. It's great that you managed to get home for Christmas Day. I hope that Isaac is loving his little bro and that you are adjusting to being a family of 4!

Bubble So glad you have got your diathermy done and behind you although the infection must have been a serious arse. Fingers crossed that the next few weeks fly by and that your all clear arrives pronto.

Issy So sorry to hear that Eira has been suffering. It's bloody horrible when they are screaming and screaming and nothing you can do seems to help. Infacol takes a few feeds to "kick in" but it did help my DS when he was colicy. The pictures of her are lovely - she'll hit that magic 5lbs before you know it. The rate at which newborns put on weight is just incredible. One of mother natures better tricks.

Vanilla and Head How are you feeling ladies? Head I hope things have got going for you by now especially - it must all be very uncomfy. I am looking forward to some more birth announcements!

Irish Glad that you have hit 6 weeks and that you are feeling confidently sick! Have you managed to wangle any early scans or tests? I think most of us can all sympathise with the feeling of overwhelming tiredness.

Well, we had a great Christmas with all the family visiting us. Sitting in bed with DS opening his stocking presents was one of those "this is perfect" moments that parenthood occasionally awards! He had a lovely day. Regardless of presents he was just thrilled that all of his favourite people were all in one place. He adores his grandparents, aunt, uncle and little baby cousin (6 months and sooooo cute.

I flapped a bit but everyone more than did their bit so I had loads of help. I kept being told to rest which actually got a little bit annoying but I didn't let on as I know it was done with the best of intentions. My Xmas dinner was, with Nigella's help, a great success and I've barely cooked since as we have existed on leftovers and jacket spuds which suits me a treat.

I have to say I haven't been feeling tip top. I got all excited last week when the baby dropped - my heartburn went away, I was hungry again and the midwife said she could only find 2/5 of head so it was looking positive. She did however warn me that second and subsequent babies tend to bob up and down and that seems to have happenned - heartburn and sickness now worse than ever! I woke up 2 nights ago being sick - and feel like someone is sitting on my chest most of the time. We're a lot more organised nursery and kit wise and I just want this show on the road now. If kiddo makes me wait another 7 weeks (am 35 today) I will not be impressed.

DH is at home now for another week or so and is looking after me which is sooooo nice.

Lots of love to everyone for a Happy New Year!

Sunnydale · 29/12/2009 19:49

Wooh hooh! Blue, huge congratulations on the safe arrival of baby Benjamin - he is absolutely beautiful. And how amazing to get home on Christmas Day. Truly the best present ever! Hope you are enjoying this snuggly and special time together.

Bubble, so happy to hear from you and good luck for the 5ww: keep busy, keep positive and rest assured we are all thinking of you lots.

Head so sorry you were stuck for seven hours en route to the hospital - that must have been awful. I live in London too and got stuck during a driving lesson (yes, I really am learning to drive while pg - I must be crazy). It took me one and a half hours to drive up Camden High St. It was certainly good practice in finding the biting point . How are you today? Any news? Will be thinking of you on Dec 31 and curious to know what an elective C is like, as I'm planning the same thing. Very best of luck if you don't have a chance to post before the big day. Your DD will never be short of a good night out on her birthday!

Issy, baby Eira is gorgeous - just looked at your pics. What a honey. Hope her colic is improving; its so sad to see them in pain, isn't it.

Wasabi, hope the heartburn has dissipated, although Christmas is hardly the best season for avoiding heartburn. I don't think a meat product exists that I haven't eaten in the last few days, from pork pie to sausage to duck to turkey to... ah yes, pate. I haven't eaten pate.

Irish, hope all still good with you and that you're still feeling sick, but in a good way if you see what I mean.

Hello to everyone else and a belated Merry Christmas. Hands up who'll be down the pub on Hogmanay? that'll be no-one, then....?

JumpingJellyfish · 29/12/2009 20:29

Hello all

A very belated Happy Chrimbo to all!

And a HUGE Congrats to Blue on the arrival of beautiful Benjamin - what a fantastic pressie (& an excellent weight too)! So glad the feeding's going well and you managed to come home on christmas day- hope you are recovering well from the c-section and in the midst of a festive babymoon!

Issy sorry to hear Eira has colic. DS had it badly, we tried everything going as got incredibly desperate- in the end resorted to cranial-sacral therapy of all things which somehow really seemed to help although I'm not sure exactly how! I hope it doesn't get too bad, like you said watching them in pain when you can't solve it is utterly soul destroying. Ffion also really struggles with wind in the evenings, not quite full blown colic as not every night, but we had a bad bout yesterday that went on until 3am. I'm beginning to wonder if she reacts to some of the foods I'm eating, so trying to cut down dairy though I'm addicted to cheese so it's hard (especially at this time to year!). Ate fajitas night before last which was foolish as they were pretty spicy, poor mite!

Head what a lovely date for a c-section! Really hope you get a shot at your VBAC before then but glad you have good plans in place both practically and mentally!

Sunny lovely to hear from you- your xmas sounds fab! Not that long now, I'm sure the next ~5 weeks will fly in!

Bubble glad the diathermy went well but so sorry to hear you got an infection- hope you're well recovered now and enjoying a few glasses of vino while you can! Did the boys get very excited at xmas this year?

Irish so glad you're doing ok and past the first milestone Hope your GP helps organise an early scan for you. Good luck with work this week- really don't envy you such a week combined with early pregnancy!

well we're doing ok, though time is just running away at the moment! Christmas was great- went to my in-laws as DH's brother and family were coming over from England as well so it was a full house- four children under 5- madness! Not getting much sleep at all yet, Ffion still rarely goes longer than 3hrs between feeds though has started to cluster feed more in late evening (though often coupled with bad wind episodes) and has a few times then conked out from 1am to 5am which feels like a long stretch! Beginning to get pretty exhausted now, 5 weeks in, but she's such a joy- a very contented wee mite most of the time! Her weight gain has really taken off- she gained 1lb in a week which amazed me and is now 8lb 5oz, so into newborn size clothes hurrah! It's freezing here though so not been getting out much- it snowed pretty heavily 10 days ago and it's still there, although now ice (very beautiful, and kids loved it, but getting a little incovenient too)! Hasn't got above 3 degrees in the day and been down to -9 at night, as a born & bred southern softie I'm struggling!! (and we've discovered that putting the washing machine in the (non-insulated) barn was perhaps not so wise as have to defrost it each time we want to use it...grrr). Otherwise I'm feeling quite well healed though got a womb infection and UTI which slowed things up a little, but better now and finally stopped bleeding!

Good luck to Head and Wasabi - will be thinking of you lots and hope to check in a bit more often!

Much love to you all- enjoy yourselves! xxx

JumpingJellyfish · 29/12/2009 20:32

doh- in my personals I meant wasabi not sunny sorry my brain in complete mush!! Though a big hello to sunny too- good luck with the driving lessons (I hated learning to drive though actually quite enjoy driving now, but take my hat off to anyone who can cope with driving in London!)

HeadFairy · 29/12/2009 21:28

Hello everyone... I'm still here, still no sign of dd. I have chronic heartburn still and the mw says she's still pretty high. Still having said that I'll probably go in to labour tonight

My sister and my mum are certainly willing it. My sister rather kindly said she wanted me to feel the pain she'd had in childbirth Nice! I told her rather curtly that as I'd already lost two babies, and I'm now a week overdue I didn't want the more unpredictable risks of an induction (which the hospital would want to do on Monday) and I'd prefer the more predictable controlled risks of an elective cs. Still I have told her she can punch me in the face if she feels I'm missing out on some pain

jumping sounds like you had a great Christmas, I love having loads of family and children around! I hope you don't freeze up there.... I feel cold enough and we're staying above freezing most nights, but only just.

Happy Christmas to you too Sunny, I can give you a blow by blow account of ds's cs if you want Funnily enough, last time I was really excited, but now I'm slightly dreading the spinal block part especially. NOt that it's painful but it is scary having a needle in your back and a load of anaesthetic pumped in. Anyway, I won't scare you, it's really not that bad. Plus as soon as they hand you your baby you are so unaware of anything else, the surgeon could have danced a tango on my belly and I wouldn't have noticed!!

I hope everyone else is enjoying their inbetweeny bit and looking forward to New Year whatever you're planning.. go on, have a drink! I'm smuggling a little bottle of champers in to the post natal ward with me

xx

bluesatinsash · 30/12/2009 12:41

Hi girls - they should replace the festive hats with Hogmanay ones and streamers coming out the mouths

Head - not long now, its sooo exciting . Fret not about the spinal, I had it this time having had an epidural with DS and it was miles better even though they had to stop a few times whilst administering it as I was still contracting . As you say they could have been jumping up and down onme I didn't feel a thing whereas ended up with general Anaesth with epidural as it was wearing off after DS was delivered - yikes. Of course you could be in labour as I type or even delivered....

Issy - Eira is beautiful and wil be 5lb before you know it . Benjamin's had colic too, DH did evening flit to Tesco last night for infacol and he has been MUCH better today, fingers crossed. He was in so much pain yesterday and hardly slept. It is heartbreaking seeing them trying to pass wind and not being able to comfort them.

Bubble - really glad your op went well and you're all set for an early 2010 BFP .

Irish - great to see your stats up there, a lovely summer baby for you

wasabimoveovernigella well done you for 'doing' xmas dinner. 35 weeks - time is marching on! I'm rooting for you getting our first VBAC. Its way freezing up here, we've had the heating on all night and it does make a difference during the night feeds

Jumping - your xmas sounded hectice but lovely. glad to hear Ffion is getting into a wee routine with the feeds. Benjamin was fed at midnight then 4.30am then 7.30am this morning. so averaging 3 hours between feeds. My boobs aren't as engorged thank goodness but he does take a few attempts to latch on so will get some advice frommidwife when she visits tomorrow.

We're venturing out this afternoon, over to in-laws as DH's cousin is down from Elgin. I've not left the house since Boxing Day dinner at my Mum's .

Will pop back on later in case Head has any news. I will definately be having a glass of champagne on Hogmanay, its been a long journey getting here and we all have alot to celebrate .

Later ladies xx
