Excellent news Grownup!! Woo woo for you! So nice you came back and shared the news. Isn't it amazing that so many people have these stories of getting pg after "giving up". (leaves to go in search of all her baby gear to sell on ebay...) Babyglue to you xx

Hi all,
wow Grownup that's amazing news. I'm very happy to hear it. Now take it easy until verysmallbabes is born.
Kiwi sorry to hear you avoided the group. This is ridiculous isn't it! Why should grown women feel this way, but I totally sympathise.
Fruit I think we are up a bit from Stranraer, haven't been there I don't think - is it nice?
It has been a bit sunny/raining/sunny/raining etc.. you get the general idea, but still beeeoootiful and DS is very taken with the beach.

grownupbabes · 07/06/2009 11:20

Thanks everyone.. its great to back in such happy circs. I am 6 weeks and due 2nd week of Feb. Of course, now I am sitting at the computer googling things like fetal medecine, nuchal scan, downs syndrome, elderly mothers... you name it, I'm stressing about it. But very excited - and optimistic!
PS but not so much so that I am switching to a pregnancy thread yet!

fifitot · 07/06/2009 14:08

There is a mothers over 35 website which has lots of forums about tests and stuff. You may know of it already though.

Mothers over 35!!!! Ha! That's nothing really in our world!

Rockdoctor · 07/06/2009 14:29

Oh Grownup, that's brilliant news. I'm so pleased for you - is this your first?

I remember lurking on the mums over 35 website when I was pg with no.1. thought it was quite useful although the over 35 bit put me off at first - as fifi says, that's nothing really, where's the mums over 40 website? (should we start it?)

Well, caught up with my NCT group last week - still catching up after 2 years, not bad eh - and one of the others is pg with no.2 Was funny as I felt really bad about it yet when I found out another friend was pg the week before I was delighted for her. Not sure what the difference was? Maybe time of the month and hormones kicking in?

KiwiKat · 07/06/2009 22:58

Splendid news, Grownup. Let's hope this pregnancy thing is catching.

Kiwikat cd2, so back on the clomid, I'm afraid. Buggery bollocks, but it hasn't hit me as hard as it usually does, probably because I feel like I actually might have a chance with the clomid, at least.

Hope you're all well. x

gonepearshaped · 08/06/2009 11:12

Hello everyone,

have been lurking for a bit and now look we have two very splendid bfps, congrats grownup and harasalou thats great news. AF turned up for me on Sunday and made me very cross! I was sure I was not minding very much till I realised I'd been a cow to all and sundry all day (oops).

Am also sulking cause I've completely failed to lose my flab before the start of the bikini season - I'm in Italy so there really is a bikini season Seems like absolutely everyone is either PG or slim and tanned.

Ok that's my winge (sp?) over with

gonepearshaped 41, ttc #2, CD2

fifitot · 08/06/2009 12:11

I have never worn a bikini since my teens gonepearshaped. I am pretty slim actually but have always had a belly - worse now since DD! Give me a one piece anyday!

Where in Italy are you? Have been there many times for holls and had friends over there.

vonsudenfed · 08/06/2009 13:39

Hello everyone,

Off for a week (lots of nice sunshine in Wales!) and it all happens - hurrah for haraslou and grownupbabes! That's fantastic news, here's sending all the best vibes for both of you.

Kiwikat - I know just what you mean about the book group. I go to a (small) mums and toddlers group, and there are currently 5 babies under 6 months there (which is quite impressive as there are only 8 people). Some weeks I feel quite grown up and sensible and can face it, on others I come out feeling like a wet miserable rag. I'd stop going, were it not for the fact that I've paid up until the summer holidays...

Grownup Wow - congratulations! Loads of baby dust to you and hope it all goes well.
Looks like we're starting to get a wave of good news (or a ripple at least)

Fifi I'm 46 (and 4mths!) and I was referred to the local hospital fertility clinic by my (pg) GP. There didn't seem to be any problem about my age but GP warned that the options would be limited. Like you say if they just come back and say it won't happen at least it's an official end to "will it happen this month" and hopefully, if not happily, we can move on.

Fruit DH did sound out his employer on the fact that his presence would be required but all they would give him was an hour off. Clearly they've always had hospital appointments that ran to time. As the company have been refusing virtually all applications for parental leave (senior manager "doesn't believe in it") and DH has managed to get 4 days PL he doesn't want to push it.

Rowing That's my secret theory too but don't tell anyone [goes off in deluded mode...]

Just joining - been a bit shy to before, felt stupid to be hopeful as well into 40s, and get fed up with people assuming I have CHOSEN to leave it this late!!!!

but just read GROWNUPBABES fantastic news and you have given me hope!

dont understand the codes cd???

45 and 3/4!! ttc no. 2

not on any medication - not too sure of any side effects of clomid - it increases ovulation - does it increase chances of twins?

fifitot · 09/06/2009 20:34

Hello giveloveachance and welcome.

I am 46 now so you are in good company and also ttc no.2. Look forward to your posts over the coming weeks.

cd is cycle day.

fruitbowl · 09/06/2009 21:33

Hi ladies! Welcome givelove!

I have scoffed far too many cakes to want to go near a swimsuit. If pushed I will skulk in a tankini under a kaftan. But what am I talking about, we're not even going on holiday.

Was sad to realise it was a whole year ago this week that I had my MC

Gonna need to test on Thurs / Fri to make sure I'm NOT pg this month as I need to go and get hammered at my friends 40th!

Trying to update everyone's cycle days!

Hi Givelove, don't hide from us, we love new people to join.
I think Clomid can increase the chance of multiples, but I'm not sure of the exact percentage.
Just popping in, whilst on holiday, but feeling pooped, may have been out in the sun too long and felt a bit grotty earlier.
Want to send gigantic hugs to VSF and GPS, lovely to hear from you.
Fruit, boo for the no holiday, are you sure, the year isn't over yet???
Kiwi, fingers crossed for this cycle, good to hear you haven't morphed into a psychotic small flightless bird this time. Looking good!
Fifi I thought you were having a break, you missed us didn't you...!?!?!

fifitot · 10/06/2009 08:17

Ha! Was having a break from TTC, a permanent one but not from the board. I would miss it too much!

However I am trying again this month though don't know why - I really don't think there is any point but hey - why not? DH doesn't mind it means regular BDing for him!

That's how I feel at the moment though. So up and down that I may change my tune!

Rockdoctor · 10/06/2009 12:38

Hi Ladies, hey cyclebuddies - how you going, any sign of AF yet?

Fruitbowl, so sorry to hear you're feeling down about the MC. I am in a similar position feeling that this month I should be having a baby, worse still, everyone around me seems to be getting PG, it's so

Welcome Givelove. Hello again Spiral. I'll be interested to hear what advice/options you get at your local fertility clinic as that is probably our next stop.

Well, I'm in a funny mood here as a month into my enforced SAHM status (ie redundancy), I am starting to sneak a peek at job websites and nearly followed something up this morning despite the fact that it would be logistically impossible for both me and DH to work full time. I guess if I'm honest I'm feeling like all the local SAHMs have two or three kids and I'm a bit of a fraud trying to get into that scene so I should just go back to doing what I know I do well and give up on this TTC malarky. I think I'm like Fifi - so up and down I'm not sure I know what I want any more.

Anyway, fingers crossed for more good news on this thread soon and enjoy your holiday Rowing, I wish we had a bit more sunshine here today.

gonepearshaped · 10/06/2009 12:59

I'm officially in a double sulk now - just renewed my FF membership so its a whole year since I decided to do the whole TTC thing properly.

On a slightly less grumpy note thanks for the hug Rowing, very much appreciated, and a big welcome to Givelove, don't be shy!

Fifitot I'm in Parma where the ham (and the cheese) comes from, its a lovely place and yr all very welcome for a (virtual) girls weekend any time.

Just discovered my thermometer is knacked - only took me 15 days of identical temp readings to notice, maybe its not so surprising I'm down for another year of FF! Am I alone in having a bit of a love hate relationship with that thing?

I end up feeling that if only I could get myself organised enough to temp totally accurately and rummage for CM often enough then the whole thing would be a doddle.

Oh dear, that's my second winge in a week (takes self off to corner for a talking to)

Rockdoctor · 10/06/2009 13:39

Ooh, gonepearshaped, Parma sounds lovely. Are you there full time? I probably missed something on the thread. Funny how I've travelled a fair bit but never made it to Italy to my shame - DH is from another part of Europe and we always gravitate there.

dixie64 · 10/06/2009 16:24

just a quick hello - soooo tired but have to keep revising - apparently my research revision is taking me on "a journey of discovery" denscombe 2008 - oops sorry slipped into exam mode there lol. can't take much more uncrc, or ecm or even bera need some real language for a change how about f* - oh well only 7 more sleeps and it will all be over and normal service can resume. think i'll deffo be out of the running this month though i'm pretty sure you have to "do" something to "conceive" and i'm not up to doing much apart from books at the moment pretty sure od is this weekend and i'll be hard pressed to actually "fit" doing the deed in lol!

KiwiKat · 10/06/2009 20:06

Took DS, nearly 3, to the Milkshake Show today and he absolutely loved it. Told me off for singing, but was happy for us to 'dance along' in our seats. He's a big fan of Noddy, Peppa Pig and Rupert Bear, and loves a good show so I am quite popular today, and really enjoyed my day of being fulltime mummy. Back to fulltime work tomorrow, blah!, transport permitting. Anyone else in London and thinking 'bloody TFL'? Or 'excellent, day off!'.

giveloveachance · 11/06/2009 08:49

thanks very much for the welcomes

Its nice to know that there are other women out there ttc over 40 and beyond!

There is such negativity out there about older mums, it really isn't fair.

So very broody its awful! Lots of friends are already on no. 2 which makes it worse - i am thrilled for them and keep hoping it will be my turn soon!

Love being a sahm, even with just one! Will have to face work oneday, but not too soon I hope! the toddler years are just so much fun. I laugh every day at dd's antics and now that she is starting to talk, its fantastic.

vonsudenfed · 11/06/2009 12:25

Have had results of day 3 hormone tests, and it's not looking too hot. I don't have the figures, but it's indicative of heading towards menopause in a few years. We're waiting to see what the results of the progesterone day 21 test I had today is, and then it's either clomid or IVF (which isn't really going to happen, I don't think). Although she did say that if the progesterone is good, it might be worth just leaving it for a bit.

Sooo, who can give me the best advice on sorting those pesky hormones out? What should I be taking?

KiwiKat · 11/06/2009 13:50

Oh Vonsuden, I'm so sorry. Agnus Castus is supposed to be good - it's a natural extract - I'm on them at the moment, as well as Clomid.
