Hi Cindy - trouble is some months it is 30 days and some months it is 38 days.

So on 30 day months I ideally start BDing around day 8 every other day or so until day 18 and am pretty sure due to temp etc that I ovulate on day 16.

But on the longer cycles I have to keep going until day 24 if possible. But because I don't know it's a longer cycle until after day 16 when there has been no temp rise or other signs, we have an awful long bd cycle those months every other day from day 8 until day 24. It's exhausting!

For me yesterday was day 16 but no ewcm and no temp rise so think that this is going to be one of the longer ones, which bizarrely tend to be every third month.

C1NDY · 22/06/2009 13:48

Yellow Oh my god! all that bding, it must be exhausting. My cycle has moved from 28 to 33 days... but I am using the OPK sticks, temp and checking for EWCM. I am not following the DP this month but have decided to follow FF when it hits the 'green' phase i.e. fertile phase, we are bd every other day. It is a difficult one when you have a long cycle, is there a reason why this happens? But at least you are keeping all your bases covered eh? How long have you been trying now? ... what is wrong with me, I am asking so many questions eh?

Lol C1ndy, you are naughty but i'm sooooo tempted!

I once heard you can use opk's as pregnancy tests, anyone heard this? How do you think that works?

Pinkyblue123 · 22/06/2009 14:07

Hi Ladies, good luck with all the BDing sounds like you are all going to be busy.

Sorry AF arrived Jools i hope you are feeling a bit better now. Good luck for this month.

Good luck with the final part of the tww Dalrymps it is a nail biting time isn't it!

Great news funtime how funny you should crave GF juice!!

All OK my end no major symptoms just feel really tired at certain points in the day. In my previous pregnancies the MS did not kick in until around week six (then it went on until week 20 ugg!) so I am making the most of the time before I start to feel really rotton!

I am feeling really nervous though and am really scared that something will go wrong. Hope you don't mind if i still hang around here.

C1NDY · 22/06/2009 14:52

Dalrymps I found out I was pg by OPK sticks.. if you still get a positive sign then that can mean you are pg... but remember it depends on the level of your HCG, so it cannot be reliable if you get a negative. So you could try this....

Pinky Please do stick around as long as you want to ... the GFJ thread is located at:- www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/633845-GFJ-drinkers-anonymous?pg=30

If you want to join them.

Try to relax...its easier said than done... I know.. but you will be fine.. think positive.. take one day as it comes and don't think too far along... your bean is growing so relax.

sorry jools - I missed post aboutyour af I think.

Hi cindy - been trying - well we've not used contraception for nearly 2 years. Officially been trying - ie making sure we got right dates etc, for a year. I've been temping about 9 months.

C1NDY · 22/06/2009 19:30

Yellow Have you seen the doctor ?

OP posts:
C1NDY · 22/06/2009 19:31

Dalrymps Have you taken a test? Not long to go now...

OP posts:
yellowflowers · 22/06/2009 19:38

Hi cindy. Yes, had first appt about 6 weeks ago and got follow up after all tests done at end of august.

Dalrymps · 22/06/2009 21:05

Ah interesting C1ndy... Haven't tested yet... I got dh to drop me near a shop I know sells cheap tests when we went shopping earlier but it had just closed, damn!

I have a double pack of tesco tests but I kinda want to save them till i'm almost positive I am pgt then use of of them to test and one to reassure me a few days later...

We're a bit skint at the mo too so can't really afford to waste a money on a first response if it's neg. Sooo, i can either wait (very hard) and use the tesco one if my AF is late or play around with the opks I have. I have read though that when using an opk as an hpt it is a lot less sensitive so might be too early to try that method? At what point did you test with one?

Jools - Sorry abou AF, good luck for this month.

Yellow - Hope the tests are helpful.

Dalrymps · 22/06/2009 22:31

Tried an opk but nothing.Hoping it's just too early to tell...

Dalrymps · 23/06/2009 07:54

OMG I daren't get excited but... I just did a tesco test (lol I know couldn't wait) and nothing at first so I came downstairs with ds. After about 10 mins I thought i'd double check it and there's a very faint 2nd line!

Was this too late to go back and check it? Does this mean it's invalid?

C1NDY · 23/06/2009 09:54

Dalrymps no a line is a line!! did you test with your first morning wee?

OP posts:
C1NDY · 23/06/2009 09:55

How exciting... Wait until Saturday now to test again!

OP posts:
C1NDY · 23/06/2009 09:56

But a line is a line, no matter how faint it is... it means you have HCG buzzing around your body.

Hi funtime have you been to the midwife now? How did you get on if so?

Jools hugs, sorry you are feeling crap

wasabi great news re scan

Hello to all of you not mentioned.

Pinkyblue123 · 23/06/2009 10:47

A line is a line Darly how exciting!

Re OPK as HPT I did an experiment last night with my left over Clearblue digital OPK test and got a smiley face so it means they do work as a HPT!

Dalrymps · 23/06/2009 11:06

I'm a bit confused. It says on the test instructions not to read the result after 10 mins.

I went back to the opk this morning and there was a very faint line on it...

I don't want to get excited if it's just an evaporation line but it really doesn't look like an evaporation line, it's a definate line!

Yes, i used first morning urine

Joolsiam · 23/06/2009 11:25

Dalryimp - I'd be cautiously optimistic in your shoes

Was there any colour in the line ? Evap lines are pretty much clear, but if there was any pink / blue dye in the line, it is more likely to be a BFP.

Fingers crossed !

yellowflowers · 23/06/2009 11:28

great news dalrymps.

Why is it I can be pleased for you guys - and I genuinely am - but a friend told me she is pregnant last night and I feel really upset. I should be very pleased for her too - she has been trying the same amount of time as me. I just feel really sad about it though I don;t think I let her see that. It is silly because when (if) it happens forme then I want people to be happy for me of course. I am a horrible person.

C1NDY · 23/06/2009 11:59

Yellow No your not... you human. You want to be pg now and not later.... I feel the same way. When someone tells me they are pg, I get a lump in my throat but I don't show it. Your time will come, I am certain of it!! Glad your being tested at least you know you are covering all the bases.

OP posts:
Pinkyblue123 · 23/06/2009 12:40

Yellow you are not a horrible person it is totally natural to feel the way you do as you want to be PG so much. The fact that you feel bad about feeling jealous is proof that you are indeed a very nice person, TTC is a very testing time and it hits all the emotions, so don't feel bad.

yellowflowers · 23/06/2009 22:31

Thanks both.
Xx

C1NDY · 24/06/2009 09:09

Okay a 'der' question. My temp rised and I think I had some ovulation cramps last night. Wierd as I never had cramps before but they were mild. I had a positive OPK yesterday... I bd this morning and we are planning to bd tonight. When ovulation occurs does this mean the egg is released and is waiting to be fertilised... does that mean we have 24 hours from the time of the temp rise (which indicated ovulation or ovulation is occuring, apparently I need three temp shifts for this to be confirmed??). so questions are... what is ovulation, can i still bd when ovulation is occuring or has occurred and how long do I have till its over and my 2ww then starts

OP posts:
Joolsiam · 24/06/2009 09:49

Hi Cindy I've never temped, but from what I've read, after you've had the three temp rises, that confirms ovulation has occured so it is usually too late - so good for establishing your usual ov day for the next cycle.

One you ovulate, the egg will live for 12 - 24 hours, so it is better to have BD'd before ovulation, so there are some swimmers there ready and waiting for the egg.

I think a positive OPK generally means you are about to ovulate in the next 12 - 24 hours.

I sometimes get two sets of ov cramps, around 12 hours apart - no idea why. Each of my pregnancies have been conceived on the night before ovulation - I just know when that is because I get a peak of EWCM that day

Hope that helps a bit ?
