Hi Loobie, have you got that test yet? Cant wait to find out, My fingers are crossed for you. Hope all goes well.

elliott · 29/05/2003 16:18

dot1, I feel for you - it must be incredibly frustrating not being able to plan your life, or missing cycles when you do!
I think it would be really worthwhile trying to get your donor's sperm frozen since it should increase your chances of being able to inseminate on the right days, and be logistically more convenient (FWIW I also think that in your case it would be worth considering paying for some monitored cycles where you can be scanned to pinpoint exactly when you are ovulating). Anyway best of luck whatever you decide.

LucieB · 29/05/2003 16:22

Dot - Elliot is right. You need to make things a bit easier for yourself maximise the chances of conception. Best of luck anyway. I am mid-cycle at the moment and am also obsessing on dates - thought I had ovulated over the weekend but now think maybe not so have had to do lots of bd over the past week or so - ie every night!

sibble · 30/05/2003 10:11

Hi Everybody
Congrats to all who have had positive tests recently. I am trying this week 9think am fertile) after having had a miscarriage 6 weeks ago. Hospital etc. said to wait for 2 periods but couldn't wait that long. Havn't had to think about it before, DS was a pleasant "suprise", last pregnancy was a case of do you fancy a baby, oh blimey I'm pregnant but this time have become obsessed with dates and timing etc. Have always been irregular so have had to convince DH he has turned into some kind of Adonis to keep pouncing on him.
Fingers crossed for everybody.

LucieB · 30/05/2003 10:22

This is 'my week' too, and have also become obsessed about dates, signs that I am ovulating and so on. Have been trying for 6 months now and first of all, cut out all alcohol, coffee etc to no avail so a bit more relaxed on that front now. Also didn't go the gym for a while (for fear of upsetting conception) but now go again. Any tips for success would be greatfully received!

bayleaf · 30/05/2003 20:48

Sibble my consultant said, re-trying after miscarriage, try as soon as you want - if your body isn't ready it won't get pregnant - if it is then there's no problem.
Good luck

Dot I really do sympathise - the frustration of waiting, the complete impotence of not being able to even try is sooooo maddening isn't it? Equally the whole 'putting your life on hold' thing and not arranging stuff just in case it clashes is a nightmare - If I'm not very lucky my ( hoped) next cycle could well clash with our holiday - luckily it's only a free one at my parents' holiday home at the sea but as we've invited friends to come as well ( who don't know about the ivf) it'll be a real shame if we have to cancel - and it'll mean no holiday at all! I didn't book a 'proper' one this year as I just KNEW that if I did it would cause problems!

Cheated on Atkins this morning as felt dreadful but am back on the straight and narrow now and I think my body is getting used to it as I feel fine now. The 'peestrips' say I'm burning fat!

On my first month of Persona, I have had the ovulation signs for two days which is surprising, but good - hopefully means I am ovulating at least. Not getting my hopes up for this month - ovulation around Sat and Sun so looks like my cycle will be longer this month. We will see!

bayleaf · 02/06/2003 11:18

Lucie - Ov signs for two days on Persona is normal - well for me anyhow!
Is definitely a good sign tho!

OP posts:
LucieB · 02/06/2003 11:32

The test sticks for those two days had two blue lines showing up. Is it just guessing the first month? Thought I was supposed to ovulate last weekend but the 'o' sign popped up on Sat/Sun just gone....

dino55 · 02/06/2003 14:05

Hi LucieB, what do the blue lines mean on the persona?I havent had any ov signs, im abit confused with it all.

dino55 · 02/06/2003 14:59

Sorry, i didnt make myself very clear, what i mean is that ive had blue lines on the testing sticks but no o signs.....what does this mean.I am due to ovulate in a couple of days i think, and its the first time ive ever used persona, but i was too late yesterday and so now alittle mixed up.Any advice please.

LucieB · 02/06/2003 15:09

Most days, I had one blue line showing but on two days this month I had two blue lines and the 'o' sign on the monitor. It says in the instruction booklet that the absence of the 'o' doesn't mean you aren't ovulating and it doesn't always show up in the first few months anyway, until the machine works your cycle out. Perhaps I just had high levels of the LH hormone in my system this month? Who knows....

Jane101 · 02/06/2003 21:15

We're having another go at iui on Wednesday morning.

bunny2 · 02/06/2003 21:18

We're off for our first appt with the fertility clinic tomorrow. Good luck Jane101.

jodee · 02/06/2003 23:27

Dipping my toe into this thread, finally. Went for an HSG this morning, tubes are all clear (been trying for no. 2 for 1y 9m, with a m/c in between). Fingers crossed for you tomorrow, bunny2, and Jane on Wednesday

caydeb · 03/06/2003 06:35

have just started to read some of these threads, it's nice to cyber chat with others who feel the same, my periods are about 38 days apart, and this depressess me, already have a 20 month old, but seem to be going through the same feeling of dread of that period and stress that others are feeling, I don't live in UK, but am english and due to visit families next week which I'm deading the why and when r u gonna get pregnant again, don't really feel I have anyone to talk to over here as is a small island and everyone knows ur business even if you don't want them to. sorry I'm spouting off a bit tonight as my friend whose a nurse did my blood test today and -ve again and this month I had real high hopes although I try to deny it when asked.

bayleaf · 03/06/2003 09:57

Hi Jodee and Caydeb -Sorry to hear how you're feeling - many of us can certainly understand - I've now been trying for 22 months for no 2....Not fun is it???
Have lost count of how many times I have said lightly ''oh the jury's still out on that one!!!'' when asked if I want another child!

Jane101- Oh fingers crossed - you really are due a bit of good luck after all the delays - ARe you having time off work after or just ''getting on with it''?
Bunny - I hope you've got a list of questions WRITTEN down - I'm hopeless at remembering everything I wanted to ask/say when I'm actually in there.
I had my review feed back last night and am going for my next ivf in July - it's a bit tight as he's got paternity leave in June and then goes on holiday in August( the consultant that is!)
I've also agreed with him that I'll have PDG - the new test whereby they take a cell from the embryos to check whether it is chromosomially (sp??!!) normal and so they can choose to put back the ones which have best chance of survival.

Bayleaf, Jodee, Jane101, Caydeb, Bunny and Dot and everyone else - best of luck with the next round of tests and trying etc etc. Have also been trying for a while for no2 to no avail. Have been told to keep trying for another few months by the doctor and then to return and chat to her about further tests....
Do hope that all goes well for you.
