Hi, i'm new to mumsnet. I don't have children - yet, I am ttc via a fertility clinic. Going to be having IUI plus medication to boost fertility etc. Would be glad to hear from others using clinics/IUI etc as it's all a bit of a minefield.
Thanks !

OMG mine showed Sunday late afternoon! Happy Easter,

islegrin · 13/04/2009 17:54

Of course she did! Now just have to work on getting you and your DH in the same place in two weeks! ;)

sgibbo · 13/04/2009 21:42

Easier said then done! He's in France unless i want to go with him on a boys only fishing holiday then i've no chance this month

islegrin · 13/04/2009 23:41

sgibbo France sounds fun, but fishing... not so much. Are you interested in parachuting in for a night or two???
Oh well- it will be great to have you along for the ride this month, then. Besides, it's kinda nice to just do it because it's fun. Might give you and dh a time to just enjoy each other (until the boys fishing trip ).

I talked to the nurse today - she called in my prescription for Clomid again. They wanted to start me on Letrazole/Femara 5mg this month, but dh and I decided one more round of clomid + injectables. That way I can have time to research the new drug. Besides we had good fols last month, so we'd like to give it another go. They also want me to inject in the muscle rather than in the tummy. Clomid 100mg CD3-CD7 and injectables CD5-CD10 then scan, trigger, etc, etc. Work is going to be really busy this week, I'm not sure how I will make it with all of this.

I wonder how Lots33 is doing?

islegrin · 14/04/2009 07:49

OK, so I caved. As soon as I wrote the name of the new med on here, I went to research it and it turns out not to have some of the side effects that Clomid has... so I'm going to try it. At least I talked the nurse out of shots in the muscle!!! Ewww those long needles looked much bigger than the other ones.

Kay4MattTTC · 14/04/2009 13:27

afternoon all. heope everyone is ok.

here's an update about me:
i am now on CD14. hopeing there is a chance somthing might happen after last night , but not sure anything has cause i haven't noticed an ovulation on my FC again . today i am feeling pritty . so thinking i might stay indoors.

sgibbo · 14/04/2009 16:47

Hi Islegrin France I could handle but the fishing isn't! I've forgotten what it's like to do it just for fun, i'm going to have to try really hard to remember !!!

i've not heard of the other meds, presume they are similar to what you have now? i have mine in the muscle, my dad is a paramedic so he does them for me I don't think I could do it myself!

sgibbo CD 3
islegrin CD 3
Kay CD 14

kay best thing to do is BD every other day and then you'll have covered all opportunities!

Lots33 how are you getting on????
Making Whats the latest???

islegrin · 14/04/2009 19:10

kay don't be it will be your time very soon, you are young and full of potential. Just stay focused on your life, and be happy for those others who have been so lucky. will just drive you mad!

sgibbo Alas, my dh works in the tool room at a shipyard... so no medical expertise, there. He's a bit unsure at giving me the shots, but if he had to he would do well. For now, we don't have to fret about it. Are the injections menopur? I had bad cramps yesterday, unusual for me, even woke me out of a deep sleep! But they are better today.

I've been very distracted at work, if I didn't have the house to worry about, I think I'd quit. I think about it everyday... sad, because it's a great job, fun and all. I'm just bored with it and the hassle. Unfortunately I couldn't do without the money - so I've decided to be thankful for what I have and that I'm not job hunting in this economy!

Enjoy your time off the meds, I think I mentioned that there is a track record of pg after stopping clomid... (I know, I know... I'm just saying!)

sgibbo · 14/04/2009 20:27

islegrin another small similarity I work in shipping to! but not at a shipyard, I work for a shipping line. My DH would jump at the chance to do it but not sure he'd do it right.

The injections are Menopur only one left in the fridge, although it's going to have to stay there

I know what you mean, I keep hoping that i win the lottery!

DH is back on the 25th which will be CD14 so there could still be hope for us this month!

islegrin · 14/04/2009 22:43

Another small similarity: my mom mum is a nurse, so if she lived nearby she'd be most helpful in giving me the shots... but then I'd have to endure her undending enthusiasm!!!

LOL - your dh "would jump at the chance"! I just pictured him raising his hand "oooo, ooo, oooo I'll do it!!!" If the roles were reversed, I'd have no problem giving a shot to DH. I guess growing up with a nurse gave me confidence with needles and throat swabs. (sad, sad, sad)

I love that there is a CHANCE! That's what hope is built on. (I'll keep my fingers crossed that your DH doesn't smell too much of French fish on the day he returns!)

Kay4MattTTC · 15/04/2009 18:25

evening all.

sgibbo: thankQ for the advice. me and DP have been BDing almost ever night. keeping fingers crossed for you this month.

islegrin: i am trying it is so hard not to let get to me.

lots33 · 15/04/2009 20:37

Hi all

Sgibbo and Islegrin, sorry about your negative tests, fingers crossed for the next time...

Just gotta hang on in there and believe that it will happen, i suppose that is all we can do.

My cycle has gone hawire....still bleeding so had to cancel the 2nd hycosy appointment.... 3 weeks on Friday. Am just trying to relax and clinic say just to call when my bleeding stops. So it's back to work and trying to relax.

Thanks for all your support and keep me posted.

Lots33 sorry to hear you are still not able to have the test done. I hope AF stops soon so you can move on! Hang in there and keep us posted.

sgibbo thinking of you, hope you are enjoying regular med-free days and nights

sgibbo · 16/04/2009 19:16

Lots33 have they suggested why it is lasting so long? can they perscribe anything for you????

islegrin it's actually nice not having to worry about being somewhere at a certain time to have the injections! Yesterday it looked like DH wasn't going anywhere because the French Fisherman were stopping all the ferries but they've now stopped the strike so he's still going!

sgibbo · 16/04/2009 19:17

Islegrin sorry posted before i'd finished how are you getting on with the new meds?

islegrin · 17/04/2009 08:08

sgibbo - so I shouldn't wish for a fisherman's strike??? The new meds are definitely different - give me headaches and make me a bit dizzy, but the hot flashes aren't nearly as bad as with Clomid. (TMI alert) and the CM is back already... so I'm happy I switched. The headaches are the most inconvenient part but I can already feel the twinges of growing fols. Scan on Tuesday! Hopefully the lining will be at a typical thickness, and plenty of fols on the RIGHT side.

makingafamily · 17/04/2009 16:12

Hi Ladies

Really Quick update! Will be back later to catch up on everyones news

Just got back from our 2nd scan on our first cycle of IUI (natural). Had first scan on CD 10 and had 3 follies with the biggest at 10mm and womb lining was 4.8mm went back today at CD 14 and was told i had "multiple" follicles with none of them above 10 mm and womb lining was 5.8mm. I was told previously that i have PCO not not PCOS, was told my FSH and LH were "ok". He wanted me to go back on Wednesday for a scan but has agreed for me to go back on Monday.

I came out in tears as i really thought i'd have a 17/18 mm follie and could have the trigger shot and iui tomorrow. I'm feeling calmer now

D x

sgibbo · 17/04/2009 16:20

Islegrin I don't think I could put up with him being grumpy all week because he couldn't go! I'm praying they don't strike tomorrow!

I think i've been lucky with Clomid i don't seem to have had that many side effects (or none that i've really noticed!) Keeping my fingers crossed for you for tuesday xxx

Making You might be a late OV which will mean when you go back on Monday they may be bigger? Will be thinking of yo Monday xxx

makingafamily · 17/04/2009 18:18

sgibbo Everything crossed for you and i've had several cycles where i havent ovulated until day 26?

islegrin · 18/04/2009 09:04

sgibbo well - I actually did it! I gave myself the shot in the arm, drew it back for the air then injected - by myself! It was a little painful, but more just scary. 1.5" of needle, much bigger than the one they give you for belly injections. (SMALL VICTORY) Anyway, finished the letrizole last night and now just 2 more days of menopur.

What are you going to do for days without DH? freeeeedom...

making here's hoping those follies grow big and strong over the weekend!

sgibbo · 18/04/2009 23:55

Islegrin your braver then me! i found that they sting, never had them in the stomach. When do you have the Ovitrelle / scans??????

Today i had the longest layin ever and the rest of the week i have plans with friends for dinner etc and maybe some gardening if the weather stays nice (although will probably rain!) Oh and i have a case of wine to get through!!!!

Making wow that is a long cycle ov at day 26 fingers crossed for monday

Lots33 any update? has the bleeding stopped yet?

islegrin · 19/04/2009 03:41

sgibbo you sound so relaxed and like you are having FUN again! I'm so happy for you - LOL >>>a CASE of wine

lots33 · 19/04/2009 15:16

No still bleeding - very intermittent and sometimes stops for 24 hours but always coming back and enough that they haven't been able to proceed. I have an appointment for tuesday (third time) but not holding out my luck. I think I will have to have a break for a month if it hasn't stopped by then and hope that my cycle will regulate itself. I am trying not to worry but it is difficult after a 23 day bleed and counting!!

Hope you are all relaxed and enjoying this beautiful weahter.

islegrin · 21/04/2009 21:34

lots33 did you finally get your test today? Or is AF still blocking the door?

I had my scan today - one viable follie on right side at 14mm, one on left is bigger at 24mm but blocked tube. Not great news, but we'll give it a go!
