Here is to our happy ending...we deserve it

mermaidspurse · 30/03/2009 14:37

4ever just nipping in to say fingers and toes crossed for tomorrow morning. Will be thinking of you at 9.30. Nice long brunch afterwards sounds just right.

4everhopeful · 30/03/2009 14:59

Thanks mermaid! Im counting minutes & even just brought a new top to wear! Any excuse! xx

GracieGirl · 30/03/2009 15:24

4Ever I like your style - a new top will definitely help! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

barbie1 · 30/03/2009 15:52

4ever im so excited for you tomorrow, i think i might by a new dress to help you celebrate oh ok it might be for a party on friday but who cares!

I was going to ask whether you got a positive ov test after you have already ovualted in which case i have missed the boat so to speak...or whether its going to happen today/tomorrow? I think gracie answered for me! we did practice yesterday and once dh comes home ill force him to do so again! and im sure i can persuade him tomorrow too....isnt it every mans dream to have this much sex

GracieGirl · 30/03/2009 16:21

Barbie OPKs detect Luteinising hormone which rises just before you ovulate. The EWCM should come tomorrow or the day after. Not sure how the temperature taking thing works as i've never done it, but I think temperature taking tells you when you've missed the boat and is more about learning about your cycle so you can predict for next time.

God knows how anyone keeps up with the Deanna Plan - BD ever other day from day 8 until you get a OPK positive then BD 3 days in a row, miss a day and then once more. If you don't get a postive OPK continue BD every other day till day 35 if AF doesn't come. It is quite strict that you do a pregnancy test 15 days after a positive OPK if AF hasn't arrived and not before (we'd be rubbish at that bit!! )

GracieGirl · 30/03/2009 16:35

I imagine "Deanna" doesn't have a plan for Gracie who's husband only comes home for 1-2 days a week (and that's not every week) - maybe he can post me some!

Its a miracle we got pregnant first cycle after getting married!!

Deanna's plan does talk about "stale" sperm (when he's not "released" in the last 10 days)causing miscarriages. Apparently sperm that was produced more than 10 days ago has a greater chance of having genetic faults, so he needs to have regular BD or invest in some dirty mags.

When I conceived last time we'd just got back from honeymoon and he then had to work away for 2 weeks without coming home so we conceived with 3 week old sperm. Could be the reason I miscarried. Even if it isn't its an easy thing to remedy for next time.

barbie1 · 30/03/2009 17:04

wow gracie you have so much knowledge!

barbie bows to the brainy one! i dont think dh will ever let his sperm get that old....he always has an excuse to get his own way interesting what you have said though....i guess for you your plan would be to have sex all day every day the dh is home! ha ha

OP posts:
barbie1 · 30/03/2009 17:07

gracie try the ice cube trick for when dh is away.....i once read somewhere that someones husband made sperm ice cubes and when she knew she was going to ovulate she would defrost one and......well you can guess the rest! maybe invest in a turkey baster

OP posts:
mermaidspurse · 30/03/2009 17:10

omg this calls for more than military planning I might have to give you one of our special scentific white coats gracie

GracieGirl · 30/03/2009 17:10

Barbie I'm afraid my way of surviving my miscarriage was to read everything!! I read Leslie Regan's miscarriage book cover to cover and as I'm a nurse and DH is an Obstetrics/Gynae Anaesthetist I have access to a lot of books and research.

Yes sounds a good plan! BD all day every day when DH is home. Poor DH will be knackered!!

VJaybigpants · 30/03/2009 17:11

Lol gracie My poor dh must have very stale sperm at the moment He'd hate it if he knew what I was writing, which makes me giggle even more

Good luck for your tests tomorrow 4ever

DS had a lovely time at the soft play, although he doesn't want to go again men! I will take him back though.

VJaybigpants · 30/03/2009 17:13

Lol barbie and the ice cubes

mermaidspurse · 30/03/2009 17:13

but what if you used them accidentally in mil g&t

GracieGirl · 30/03/2009 17:18

omg at the ice cubes!!!! lol

doozerhead · 30/03/2009 17:29

Hello all,
Have been back to my old lurking ways of late, but just read barbie's and then mermaid's posts and (nearly) PMSL!!!
Ah, this thread always cheers me up, thanks ladies!
Thinking of everyone with tests, 2ww etc xx

mermaidspurse · 30/03/2009 18:03

hi doozer you lil lurker hope you are ok, well and happy. Yes it puts a whole new light on 'ice with that?' next time I get asked that I wont' keep a straight face.

barbie1 · 30/03/2009 18:57

gracie may i suggest if you do go down the ice cube line that you buy different shape trays for them to set in so you dont get them mixed up....ikea do lovely heart shape ones, so you can think about your husband doing this out of love...or they do arrow shape ones, prehapes to point the sperm in the right direction!

MummyLovesSadie · 30/03/2009 18:58

OMG sperm ice cubes I wonder if it really works?!! GG I would love to bd every other day & then three days in a row but my husband is NEVER up for that much luurve (unfortunately)! I have to say though that since the mc he has always ahem, risen to the occasion when requested to.

On the subject of temping, I find it massively helpful. You start doing the chart on day one of your af & for this part of the month & up until you ovulate your temperature is on the lower side - this is called the female part of your cycle. When you have ovulated you will see a sudden drop in temperature followed by a higher temperature (caused by the progesterone that is released) for the rest of the month - this is known as the male part of your cycle. You can tell if your af is going to start as your temperature begins to drop again. If you have 18 days at the higher temperature you are pregnant. Of course I've already done about 4 hpt's by then anyway! I was quite sceptical about charting to begin with but I've found it so helpful & the charts give me another task to obsess about & pour over!!

You can buy a special bbt (basal body temperature) thermometer from good old Ebay for about £1, & here is a link to the charts that I print off & use every month.

www.babytalkzone.com/chart-your-monthly-cycle/

There are boxes to write down each day things like cm & cervical position.

My af is due in a couple of days & I'm NOT going to do test number four unless it doesn't appear!

doozerhead · 30/03/2009 19:21

Hiya mermaid - no neither will I!
Btw, while catching up on the posts I've realised we have the same birthday! - Happy birthday for yesterday
I'm doing ok thanks - bit up and down as several friends have announced pregnancies recently, which has knocked me back a bit... partly I have been upset, and partly I have been upset with myself fo being upset! V daft!
But meanwhile, in doozerland, AF is due today, but HPTs have been consistently negative so far (and I've done one everyday for the last 5 days! - I have so little self-control it's embarrassing!) so I'm not optimistic!
MLS, I agree, temping is great - just started this last cycle - it has been good for me having something to check everyday - I also thought it would stop me testing early... but clearly that hasn't worked!!!
xxx

mermaidspurse · 30/03/2009 19:40

happy birthday for yesterday dozzer another mad Aries girlie hope you had a good time - I had a yorkshire nearly as big as my plate and tried to pinch some of dhs as well
af is due at mermaid HQ on the 3rd (I think)
feeling really agggghhhhhhh so guess afs on her way.....
can I ask a very silly question now please don't laugh too much.. where do you shove put your thermometer to take your temp? this has been worrying me sightly...

MummyLovesSadie · 30/03/2009 20:14

You can put it wherever you like but under the tongue is usually quite sufficient, heehee!

GracieGirl · 30/03/2009 21:18

Evening all!

Barbie you are mad!!! But thinking about it Ann Summers do willy and sperm shaped ice cube trays!!!

Just been out for dinner with my friend who announced she was accidentally pregnant, she only did a test at the weekend cos she was feeling strange, she's a bit shell shocked bless her! She has no idea at all when her last period was, even to the nearest month! Shes got a three year old from an uncomplicated pregnancy so has never considered that things could go wrong. Listening to me for the past 2 months has now turned her into a nervous wreck!! I'm quite surprised how ok about her being pregnant that I feel. I think I'm only jealous of people who aren't my close friends or don't belong to this thread!

bluesatinsash · 30/03/2009 22:02

Firstly YAY! barbie that you got a +ve on your OPKs - woo hoo!

at all the frozen sperm talk - Ann Summers eh? - is there anything willie related they don't do?!

Lionstar - I'm so feeling for you and the choices you have to make.. I know my bloods will come back high next time due to my age and previous mcs and think I would get an amnio just to be prepared BUT that's me speaking hypothetically I may be totally against it when it came to happening for real. We were staying with DH's cousin at the weekend and they have 3 lo's and their middle son (nearly 2) has Downs (no prior warning all tests were low risk, didn't know until he was 4 hours old as he was floppy). It was very hard for them at first (the shock, grieving for the child they thought they were getting) but they love him more than anything, he is their child and that's all that matters.

God I do go on .

Really enjoying my week off so far, DH, DS, my Mum and me went to Glasgow to get my Mum's birthday (another Aries and VERY typical - a strong woman that one! ). She ended up getting my b'day instead and its not until May , lovely pair of 'fit flops' which apparently tone your legs and bum whilst you swan about - yeah!

Gracie glad your friend's news didn't knock you too much. I'm meeting one of my closest friends next Sat. for lunch and have a feeling she has some baby news for me (she has been trying since her wedding last May). I would love it if we were pg at the same time but it doesn't work like that does it?

MLS - I'm proud of your testing restraint!

4ever - good luck for tomorrow in your nice new top .

Hey everyone else x

Curlywurleelittlepants · 30/03/2009 22:04

Evenin' all. Just popped on to say good luck to 4ever for tomorrow and nearly peed myself over your spermy icecubes. I will never ask for ice in my G&T again

Anyway, big waves to everyone else (nice to see ya Doozer )
