Hi jools good to see you made it here. How exciting about planning your wedding but just following on from what curly said the most important thing about the whole wedding is that you do what you both want not what you feel is expected. Then no matter how you do it will be special for both of you.

What a lovely dream BTW.

Lionstar · 15/02/2009 22:21

Oooh a shiny new thread! OK you've tempted me in, and as VJ and Sabs are here I won't feel like an interloper. I have to admit I've been a bit tentative about posting on the other thread since getting a BFP, because I feel like it just make things harder for the poor ladies who are at the raw end of things. The last thing they probably need is pregnant women around reminding them of what they have lost - which I guess is Barbie's reasoning to create a new thread. I still lurk around on the old thread though just to keep up with the news.

Sabs I'm pretty much on a par with you 8+1, due on 26th September (DP's birthday!). It's a difficult time and I'm still terrified. I was refused an early scan by the EPU, they said only if I had bleeding or other symptoms - and I don't think I can carry off deception to that level. I have had more symptoms this time round - some nausea, weeing lots, stretching pains and so on, so I'm a little more hopeful. Am in total dread of the 12 week scan though, almost feel like I can't go through with it. I'm going to phone for a midwife appointment tomorrow, and hope the hour it takes to fill out all the forms is not wasted this time.

Jools that's really exciting news, and maybe a lift of that kind is what you need to feel more positive about things (and DP). Have to sympathise about the costs though, just the mention of the 'W' word seems to add a huge percentage to the costs. We have plans for getting married at some point, but we want to do a barn dance/hog roast very informal type party and hope to keep the costs down. Won't be for a couple of years though.

Hi to everyone else , can I grab a slice of the carrot cake - yum my favourite

barbie1 · 16/02/2009 05:36

Good morning all you gorgeous ladies.
sabs and lionstar the sickness sounds great, I've had it bad this time round and although it's tough it's so reassuring. I'm 12+5 today .
jools will you be getting married this year? How exciting! Me and dh got married...just got to work this out....7 years ago, in March, wow can't believe it, time does fly. We did it in Gretna Green and had just 4 people there, it was totally about me and DH (and ds in my tummy ).
What's everyone up to today? I'm building a Hotwheels track with ds, then might make a cake, then have a sleep!

barbie1 · 16/02/2009 10:05

I have been job hunting for hours now... its so hard to get anthing done here as everyone is so relaxed! i have forwarded my cv on to loads of people so fingers crossed for me. Dh has also imformed me that have to drive, i have been getting away with it for the past few weeks but tonight he is taking me out they drive like nutters over here, im going to just press the gas and close my eys, seems to work for everyone else

OP posts:
VJay · 16/02/2009 10:21

Ooooh good luck with the driving barbie I've heard it's a bit crazy, and good luck with the job hunting too, though with all that lovely sunshine I wouldn't be too worried

4everhopeful · 16/02/2009 10:22

Knock knock - can I come in?! Well done Barbie and great name! Oooooh a conception thread! Well may have only been a couple of weeks but i'm straight back on the horse (well DH actually!) Had to avoid babydancing for so blumming long and being officially 'allowed', ovulation and valentines, all combined in perfect timing! I've had a very lovely valentines weekend with DH and if not successful this time, next ovulation time we will be in Sharm El Sheikh (not in sandals and socks tho thanks barbie! ) so will be doing the drunken brit abroad thing and lots and lots of babydancing!!!

So lovely to be here! I shall bring cake next visit! So especially great to see you here mermaid and curly jools mm blue and mollie! Very very good stuff to see lots of Sabs and Vjay (and your evergrowing bits!) cos you are our positive hope stories we can all aspire too!

Another pat on the back for Barbie - very well done my darling! Good move! Its feels so good to be on a conception site! I'm very excited!

Just must share an amusing valentines story with you - went for romantic meal and took some 'fun' dice with us. One has body parts (knees, lips, neck etc) one has things to do (lick, cuddle, tease etc). Rolled them at the table and mine for DH to do was 'lick knees'! Sooo DH gets down on his knees at table to lick mine! Half the restaurant clocks on and looks round expecting to see romantic proposal only to see DH licking my knees! Then my dice roll was 'lick nose' straight after, some people were still looking, albeit very confused and quizacally as I leant across the table and started licking his nose!!! . We were also wearing matching 'Brilliant Husband/Wife' badges as had bought each other same card! So at least people realised we wernt complete fruit loops. Was so absolutely hilarious seeing their reactions tho - had tears rolling down our faces! Just had to share that with you to brighten up your monday mornings! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

VJay · 16/02/2009 10:36

LOL 4ever that is so funny, you sound like a right mad pair!!!!!

sifuentes · 16/02/2009 10:44

DING DONG

please may i come in too? I have an array of fine delicacies and comfy cushions.

(imagine if someone said no and didn't answer the door? that would be but at least i could always sit an consume the goodies in comfort...

so nice to see a positive, looking-forwards thread.

I went to see the naturopathic herbalist lady on Saturday. She said I was basically in pretty much excellent health (blowing on fist then rubbing chest with it emoticon) but,and here's the bit, said that in her view the mc was prob due to DP's boozing, and since the little fellows that we would be trying with now were made in the run up to christmas - we might want to think about waiting til he's all detoxed out.

I have thought about it but reckon will try this month anyway. it makes me a bit more nervous, im not gonna lie to you, but I just can't wait any longer!!

This lady is the biz. Out of all the ladies post MC who have gone to see her, not one has had another one (actually one, who had a blood clotting disorder). pretty amazing stats.

anyway tis lovely to see such chirpy ladies this morning. i have just given up caffeine and booze again so am not exactly sweetness or light myself...

sabs lionstar and vjay* pleased to see that all is going well for your sprouting beans

mermaid, curly joolsiam 4ever and others who might be trying but aren't really sure of where they are in their cycle cos they're actually totally chilled about it all obviously - Happy BD'ing and knee licking (loving those dice!)

barbie1 · 16/02/2009 10:53

4ever you have made me cry with laughter, i thought i was only me and dh who did such silly things, keep telling him and myself that its about time we grew up I too had those dice, an evening of much fun followed...a few years ago now, long before the bondage tape story i told you all
Dh has an habit of 'performing' in the supermarket, by that i mean he will shout really loudly if i say no to him putting something in the trolley...he acts like a 3 year old having a tantrum, the more i object the louder it gets and people stare....at least we have a laugh together like you and your dh!

sifuentes of course you can come in.....Good news about the herbalist lady, fingers crossed it works for you. As for me im going to take evening primrose as soon as i can get hold of some, i have been adviced it can help kick start my periods???

OP posts:
Joolsiam · 16/02/2009 10:56

Hehe 4Ever - that made me laugh out loud at work ! Talking of work, I suppose I'd better do some soon

Good to hear from Lionstar again - I was wondering how you were getting on

Just look at the activity on this thread already - obviously sorely needed

Sifuentes - interesting about the boozed up swimmers theory. My DP drinks more than I would like him to but has just accepted what I've been pointing out for ages - that he has reduced his after-work drinks down to 2 pints but tops up with far too much wine after dinner every night. I managed to confront him last week with how much had been consumed so he has agreed he needs a bit of a detox. I'm hoping that will help him regain more of a sex drive aswell (hmm - I wonder if that would work in just under 2 weeks - I have an ovulation deadline to work to !)

sifuentes · 16/02/2009 11:31

joolsiam i have the same deadline. It was when she said maybe ask him to go down to 2 pints a week. yeah right. I nearly laughed out loud. Then she said there were people he could talk to. crikey. he isn't an aloholic! but he does like to have more pints than he should...

I like the thought of the renewed sex drive bit. I figure if we can do it loads of times then my egg can be a bit more choosy. she was clearly a bit 'easy' last time. oh hi you're a boy! come in!!! (not like me at all )

barbs good luck with the EPO. Tis supposed to work wonders...

bluesatinsash · 16/02/2009 13:25

Hey Ladies, isn't this thread the biz

4ever - fantastic mental image of your DH and you sitting there licking each other with your badges flashing - you are mad!

Hey sifuentes - great to hear your herbalist sesh went well. Interesting point re: booze = dodgy sperm. DH and me are practically teetotal these days (life with a toddler is very sobering!) but we do enjoy a bottle of red every Friday night. I did giving up as I'm on the 2ww but I only have a couple...).

The big thing I've given up is ALL caffeine. I don't drink coffee anyway but have switched to green tea and have vowed that the next 'real' tea I have is the one you get (with toast!) after you give birth. Positive affirmation, its the only way to go x

sifuentes · 16/02/2009 13:57

bluesatin one bottle between you is surely good for the soul. not even my witch doctor would begrudge you that!
Her other advice was deffo no caffeine - can stop them from sticking and double folic acid if you've recently MC'ed. something to do with your blood but forgot what. soz.

sifuentes · 16/02/2009 13:58

oh and bluesatin have heard that that cuppa is the best tasting one EVAH!

barbie1 · 16/02/2009 14:33

evening primrose...do i get tablet form? or is it oil in a capsual?

OP posts:
sifuentes · 16/02/2009 14:42

It is oil in a capsule xx

Lionstar · 16/02/2009 17:19

Just having a quick ROFL at 4ever's antics - I can't believe you did the dice thing in public, I'd have thought it bedroom material only - you're obviously made of naughtier stuff than me!

Regarding alchol (and caffeine), DP and I did a 3 month detox pre-conception for DD and fell with her straight away. We tried applying the same principle for the second pregnancy, which means we actually gave up the booze last May (bar the odd sip)! So things are not necessarily as straight forward as we assumed - DP is not very impressed, but he is hoping were in the home straight now - he is staying clean until a successful 12 week scan, bless him.

Blue, did you know green tea can have more caffeine than coffee, unless specifically decaffinated? I was most miffed to find that out and had to switch to decaff black tea - your taste buds do adjust though.

VJay · 16/02/2009 17:59

I stopeed all caffeine too, but I'm sure there is caffeine in green tea too cos I used to drink it but someone told me it was in there so I stopped. You can get a decaff variety though.

Joolsiam · 16/02/2009 18:12

I read that green tea inhibits the body's absorption of folic acid - not sure if it is enough to be significant, but it was enough to put me right off it !

I have a box of decaff PG Tips that I have in work and actually really enjoy decaff latte's from Starbucks etc. I do have one "fully loaded" cup of tea in the mornings, but that is it, and I think that will go too once I get that BFP. I feel kind of paraniod, but really don't want to tempt fate again. I had a small glass of wine on my birthday and started spotting that night, so no alcohol will pass my lips whatsoever after I'm PG.

VJay · 16/02/2009 18:18

Just booked a weekend away to Edinburgh in March for my birthday. It will be me dh and ds, can't wait. I've heard the zoo is good, with a penguin parade, has anyone been?

sifuentes · 16/02/2009 18:30

Eeek! re the green tea. Goodness me. Until Friday I was drinking shiteloads of the stuff. Hmmm, must try the decaff PG Tips. Decaff caps from my local place taste totally yum so once my headaches go I won't feel gutted about the no caffeine I don't think. In fact I think it will be great for my mood, being a bit of a rollercoaster chick.

It's funny how superstitious you get isn't it. I had a bit of everything last time round - the odd glass of guiness, weeny bits of naughty cheese - cos my cravings were too strong. And I know that was not the prob. This time however I will ban all potential badness from my lips. If only I could ban work stress too. le grand sigh

bluesatinsash · 16/02/2009 21:02

eeek x 100 re: green 'more caffeine than rocket fuel?' tea . Will check box and switch to decaff if so. I do only have 1-2 cups a day but I'm worried re: folic acid absorption - I feel a google coming on... Thanks for the heads up..

Actually have a vit intake question.. I take 1 x multi vit (well woman general) which has recommdeded folic acid and barbie - it also has EPO) + 1 x effervescent vit c. Wonder should I also take an additional folic acid? or just 1 x folic acid and 1 x vit c (I swore by vit c during my pg with DS).

Vjay - we took DS to Edinb. zoo for his 1st birthday. Its great with lots to see but I advise you to take the free bus to the top and walk down, its very steep!

mm1509 · 16/02/2009 22:06

Hi everyone,

Well see the thread is taking off now, you have all been busy while I was at work today!!!

vjay agree with blue about the hills at the zoo..........we didn't realise there was a bus and walked round. It is a great day out though and the penguins were DD's fav (mine too).

blue not sure on the vits although I have been wondering myself. I remember someone talking about the Lesley Reagan book and that she recommends vits for both of you to take 3 months before ttc...........does anyone have any more info on this. We are thinking that we will probably give this one more go so I want to try everything possible to make this time successful. What is the EPO for, anyone?

4ever you made me laugh out loud at you and DH antics.....so good to hear you are still laughing and having fun together, just think how much you can embarrass your LO(s) in years to come.

barbie hope the driving is going well. Still considering a tattoo, promise I will let you know first what I decide.

Big hellos to lionstar and sifuentes glad you could join us.

Well sitting with a glass of wine and now feeling a tiny bit guilty after reading the comments about alcohol but tbh had a crap day at work so think it is well deserved, the quicker I finish up in there the better.............mm raises her glass. It's only one glass and we won't be ttc for a few months now so surely not too bad.
