Yeah George!

Cadmum · 07/04/2005 17:22

Romilly: I was sure that choccies were for non ov days!!! I am so easily confused!

romilly · 07/04/2005 17:24

cadmum - rules are made for breaking!

OP posts:
george32 · 07/04/2005 17:31

No time to mess about waiting for him to see choccies on his pillow. How about I chuck a bar of dairy milk at him when he walks in the door? Got his eldest staying so might have to pack him off down the shops.

romilly · 07/04/2005 17:36

LOL george - its a novel seduction technique - being thwacked on the head by a bar of dairy milk, now thats what i call foreplay!

dqueen sweetie, where is the bit on your site about lh surge please, cant find chart?

OP posts:
Cadmum · 07/04/2005 17:42

I like your thinking! My dh is not a chocolate fan so I am still trying to work out what to chuck his way when the time comes. Caviar and Oysters sound a bit messy, sorry Rom.

george32 · 07/04/2005 17:55

Think I'm just going to throw myself at him!!!

Cadmum · 07/04/2005 17:59

George: Shall I consider you the practical one in this bunch then? Maybe that is why I am not having much success? Will have to try throwing myself at DH this month to see how it goes.

munz · 07/04/2005 18:00

Rom - it'as about 7% well slightly under but still really crap money compared to what others in the place do and I do, so don't know, I was after a bit more (more like 15% ish but I knew that was ambious (sp) will have to see what the final figures are he offers and work from there. (we don't get bank holidays paid by the way)

George - yes when I got a pos on the OV tests I was estatic, in fact I did two just to make sure (one persona and one digital clear blue with the smiley face!) and kept opening the persona to make sure it hadn't vanished! how sad!

Cadmum · 07/04/2005 18:09

Am seriously thinking about buying an OPK for this month. I can't believe that I have been reduced to this. Am actually more afraid of missing this month than having another miscarriage so please tell all: Are all OPKs the same? Does it not just show an LH surge rather than if you are actually ovulating?

munz · 07/04/2005 18:11

cad mum, I personally prefer using persona but failing that I liked the clear blue digital only cos I could never tell with the two lines if I was OV or not, so that way it's idiot proof which is good for me!

Cadmum · 07/04/2005 18:12

I keep meaning to mention that my mum is on the mend. She is at home and actually resting as much as the Drs recommend which is a near miracle. She has to go in for daily blood-tests at the moment because her blood is too thin so that is a bit of a worry but she seems well. My SIL has really stepped up to help her out nearly everyday and I am so grateful because my dad and brother are useless in these situations.
(Thanks for asking!)

Cadmum · 07/04/2005 18:13

As I am now back in Canada, Persona is not an option. I don't even want to go into how sad I feel about not having Boots anymore... I need therapy!

george32 · 07/04/2005 18:14

And she finally cracks .
Everyone seems to vote for Clear Blue Digital Smiley OPKs. Really dear but they give you a straight O or answer rather than coloured lines for you to study.
It shows the LH surge but this happens up to 48 hrs before O so if you go at it like rabbits once the shows you should have a pretty good chance.

wendy11 · 07/04/2005 18:41

George- YEEEEEEEEEHA!!!!! The buzz from getting that smiley face is fantastic. Your DP is in for a shock but please be careful with that bar of dairy milk you don't want to cause concusion. Good Luck!!

Surprisingly I don't feel too bad at af arriving this month. There have been other months when I have been a lot more let down by her arrivial, but I think I have come to the stage where IVF is the route we have to take to have the baby we want. I am a firm believer that ds was sent to us for a reason and perhaps that reason was as a means to helping the IVF to work. Statistically someone who has been pregnant before has a higher chance of IVF working. Have to keep positive.

Romilly - trying to stay off the booze for the duration of our treatment but don't know how that will go. Have just read on another thread that someone doing IVF was advised to drink at least 2 pints of milk a day as her clinic found it helped with the IVF. Glass of wine v's glass of milk.... not sure about that one.

Bella - definitley with you this month. One last push for the finish line of ttc.

Nemo - got everything crossed for you. We need some good news to keep us all in a positive frame of mind.

Cadmum - glad your mum continues to improve. It will be all systems go for you this month if DH is heading off for 3 months. What CD are you on at the moment? Treat yourself to some OPK's you don't know what you are missing until you get on the OPK bandwagon

DQ - that site looks good. Only have a had time to have a quick look. Will get a good read later on.

Enjoy your evening everyone

Cadmum · 07/04/2005 18:50

I have cracked! I am officially cracked. You girls have ruined me. I will be off to the chemists this week-end to look for the ones because I am way too dim to interpret lines at this stage of my 'crackedness'. When do you have to start weeing on the sticks? I think that I am on CD7 but I am not 100% certain because I was pretending not to care, remember! Now that I have OCD I will be admitting to caring very deeply about every little twinge. Sorry in advance for getting on your nerves. I need to step things up somehow!

wendy11 · 07/04/2005 18:59

Cadmum

When you start peeing on sticks depends on how long your cycles are but here is a rough guide for clearblue ovulation tests (not sure if this applies to all OPK's but there should be an instruction leaflet in the packet which will tell you):

Cycle length 28 days - Start Day 11
Add one day for each day longer your cycle is
If cycle 34 days then would start on day 17

Hope that explains it. You are only on CD7 so unless your cycles are very short you should have a few days to go yet before you need to start. I always like to start a couple of days earlier just in case I ov a bit earlier that cycle and miss it, but I am afraid I am one of the to be sure, to be sure, to be sure OPK users.

Glad we have converted you. Good luck!!

Cadmum · 07/04/2005 19:17

Thanks Wendy. I can usually tell when nearing Ov based on CM and CP so should I wait until then or just go by number of days? how many wee-sticks come in a kit? Will the price give me heart-failure?

Nemo1977 · 07/04/2005 19:41

they r expensive..around £20 over here and u only get 7 sticks for the month so if u dont get the coveted whn u would expect u can end up using whole pack. However if u get it day one then u have more to use iykwim

good luck cad and welcome to the darkside..this month was my first using opks so we shall see if it was worth it
lol

milosmum · 07/04/2005 19:44

cadmum- thought id never get to the stage where i was using a ovulation test either! but after 2 years of trying i am now resignd to the fact that i need a little help. get mine off ebay but they are the ones that you have to interpret the lines and as the others said it can be v v confusing at times.

to all the others i ve stopped bleeding! god knows whats going on basically it happened for the grand total of 8 hours- what the hell do i do now????

to make matters worse my little chap must have heard us talking about it and is now just as obsessed as me at having a little brother or sister- hes telling school he having a baby called Zippy- hes mad on Rainbow (bless)-looks like he ll still have a long wait!

Nemo1977 · 07/04/2005 19:46

MM is it possible it was implantation...i have bled with all my pregnancies so who knows

milosmum · 07/04/2005 19:48

thought that myself but how much did you bleed- have read on other sites its just a "tinge" but it was more than that... and would it have been too soon- the test was done on monday so it says ov 24-36hrs after that. Did "the Deed" on sunday and monday.....not that you need to know the whole details....

Nemo1977 · 07/04/2005 19:50

i bled as in i thought i had af so have tended not to find out until late on that ive been pg...usually around 9 wks....will prob only know next time as im testing so damn early

milosmum · 07/04/2005 19:52

im just not the patient type and really wont b able to wait until the 20th to do a preg test but then ill just b dissappionted when it comes back neg again... and ill be back to day 1. its good to know others are in the same boat though.....

Cadmum · 07/04/2005 20:02

milosmum: Don't really know what to think but as every woman and every pregnancy are different, you never know until you test...
I also bled with ds1 heavily enough to believe that is was af. No implantation bleed with dd etc etc... Even for me no two pregnancies were the same (and I've been there 6 times so I am practically an expert in the field). HTH
