reflexology qualifications can be many and varied. i would definitely look for these letters...
AoR (association of Reflexologists)
ITEC (international therapy exam council... my award)
IGPP, which is ITEC and GCP combined
BRA (british reflxology association)
IIR (international institute of reflex)

maybe IIHHT (i think thats it).

however, although these will all have directories online of members that belong to them, there are many like myself who do not want to belong to them... they cost a lot of money every year and we get pretty much nothing out of it!! but that doesnt affect my qualification.

so once you establish the qualification, ask the therapist about her experience with your needs and if she has done CPD courses (continuing professional developement), especially in fertility and pregnancy. dont be afraid to be guided by how you "feel" about who you talk to... intuition can help enormously with these things!

try this link also. its a massive directory of therapists, some of whom post to the forum there.

good luck with your treatments... remember, relax and enjoy!

Rosies, thanks so much for the info
I'll let you know how I get on

Rach - enjoy this week at home and next week when you are back at work we'll be there to help you through those moments when colleagues try their best but sometimes totally say the wrong thing!

dramaqueen72 · 06/04/2005 13:37

GEORGE you wanna test with meeeeeee? oh lovely a test buddy! I'm sorry Rom i thought you were ahead of me, I'll just keep hassling you for fun now!
okay rosie i am armed with details will check list for my area.
so bella, how much does this cost then?
and i'm with you on the pins in eyes....if i can not wee for four hours to take opk test, raise hips after bding -wehn i remember-, avoid drinking -of the wine kind anyhow- and fill myself and dh with vitamins i can do pins in eyes.....any stats on the affect yet tho?!
rickman, we are totally crazy here and the name seems 'just us' might need to add one more tc before ttc next time, (TotallycrazyTryingToConceive!!) i think we're turning into a sort of mumsnet soap opera!

romilly · 06/04/2005 13:49

did i hear someone asking about stats? ah yes,dqueen...

i can reliably inform you that 99.9% of people go blind after sticking pins in their peepers

OP posts:
Bella23 · 06/04/2005 14:02

Rom - in light of said needle sticking in eye stats I think I shall hold off from that course of action for the moment!
DQ - cost is £37 for the hour for the reflexology.

piffle · 06/04/2005 14:34

still no Af still no signs
but this happened last month so am not counting ANY chickens or testing til after the weekend.
Anyone else in the same boat?
eeeks

romilly · 06/04/2005 14:44

piffle - nemo is in the same boat

OP posts:
piffle · 06/04/2005 15:06

I see nemo is waiting til Monday to test same as me...
Fingers crossed x x

Cadmum · 06/04/2005 16:00

Thank you all for making me laugh! How did I ever live without you lot? af is now a fading memory (nightmare) and I hope that she is not to return for at least 18 months.

Romilly, I didn't mean to abandon you. I was insanely busy over the week-end and everytime I sat down to read the thread it was getting longer and longer making the task more daunting. I hate to post without adding at least a few personal notes.

DQ: Are you testing yet?!?! Come on! You have a whole bathroom full of 'em... What would be the harm? No, seriously, STOP trying to convince me to buy OPKs! Our budget is too limited to support such an addiction. DH would start thinking that we can't afford a baby if they are costly before conception as well!

Piffle: praying for your BFP. Keep us informed.

Bella: No needles in your peepers! Your future-baby from oderyourbabyhere.com would prefer a 'seeing' mummmy. Reflexology is excellent! Never tried it pre-conception (or during first trimester) but Rosies and I have discussed this before on another thread and I would certainly consider it with a maternity-trained reflexologist. Let us know how it all goes.

Rosies: Thank you for keeping us informed. Your advice is always appreciated.

Thanks Rickman. Nice to know that we have loyal lurkers.

RachelRog: Welcome to the mumsnutters' thread. I also hope that your stay here is a short one. Enjoy your ds this week as work will likely be a challenge. It can be really hard to deal with the many reactions to your miscarriage. Be kind to yourself; take it one day at a time; and keep posting here.

Hereshoping: Am also hoping to see you on the due in January thread. Would love to share the good times/insane stress levels with you. How goes the BDing? (ooooh, questions-you-never-thought-you'd-ask-alert there...Sorry )

Munz: Only 13 more sleeps until your dh is home! (is that right?) Yeah! It's the final count-down. hope the time passes quickly.

Nemo: Are you 10 DPO? Thinking of testing with DQ? Romilly has kindly voluntold you to be the designated testing buddy. Are you up to the task? Feeling pg?

Cadmum · 06/04/2005 16:06

Oh NO! As usual I am all messed up! Should have re-read the thread before posting my rubbish!
Nemo: You may test with DQ but it was actually George who was voluntold for that position. You and piffle would make a good match. (if you are even looking for a testing buddy...)

Slinking off now to educate my children. May have to spend some time teaching myself to read with more care...

munz · 06/04/2005 17:41

well DQ, the past two ppl have told me they were PG but b4 they did I had a funny feeling they would be so i'll kept everything crosed for u!

Cadmum - yes 13 more sleeps to go! yay! althou I don't know if they'll be room in the bed any more as the dogs r used to sleeping on there with me!

AF turned up today (the watery brown bit this morning and full on this avo so roll on 13 days then I can get BD and be a nervous wreck like everyone else!

romilly · 06/04/2005 17:47

hats off to you cadmum for getting up to speed with the soap opera that is www.orderyourbaby thread, LOL... i was impressed with how quickly you've caught up with the goings on (peeing in deoderant lids/sticking pins in eyes/etc.etc...

munzie better get those muttleys out of the bedroom habit - NOT romantic having four-legged friends in bed when d/h gets home!

OP posts:
munz · 06/04/2005 17:49

rom, ah when he's home they're in the kitchen/ on the floor they know the pecking order! normally kitchen for BD lark that's who DH know's his luck's in! the cold's coming along nicely next to nothing today as I dosed up on the 4 flu tablets yesterday seems to do the trick everytime.

Cadmum · 06/04/2005 17:49

Sorry, am confused again... Romantic? Romance?!?! What is this?

romilly · 06/04/2005 18:07
Grin
OP posts:
romilly · 06/04/2005 18:08

romance is putting chocolates on d/h's pillow even when it is not "0" day

OP posts:
Cadmum · 06/04/2005 18:18

Hmmmm...Will need to consider all that this implies as cadDAD does not like chocolate!

romilly · 06/04/2005 18:25

umm.......oysters/caviar?

OP posts:
Cadmum · 06/04/2005 18:28

Guess I will need to look it up in the dictionary as I would not want to find any of these items in my bed....

romilly · 06/04/2005 18:31

please tell me you've seen 9 and a half weeks cadmum!?

OP posts:
Cadmum · 06/04/2005 18:33

Now there is a memory! How old is that movie?!?! Was that romantic or pathetic?

romilly · 06/04/2005 18:34

LOL - it was hilarious!

OP posts:
Cadmum · 06/04/2005 18:39

Absolutely! Are you the one who put chocs on DH's pillow or are you stealing someone else's idea? (sorry, too lazy to re-read!)
I am really bad in the romance dept. Time is at a premium and I forget that I should find the time for these things... My poor dh. I'm like being married to one of the blokes.

romilly · 06/04/2005 18:44

yup - it was me but, mr.rom (who is a strictly "filler-station" flower guy - that's garage carnations to us UK girls) was hugely suspicious that i was up to something! gives you some idea of how good i am in the romance dept.
