FruitynNutty · 20/02/2009 21:48

awww and I'm not on the grad list anymore My fault for not keeping up with the thread!

Emmsy1 · 21/02/2009 07:45

sparkly I know I congratulated you via text but just have to do it again on 'our' thread CONGRATULATIONS and sincerely hope all will be well this time, even DH was asking who I was talking about when I was excitedly telling my children that my welsh friend was going to have a baby

Amy is doing fine and growing well, she loves to scream out loud, think she loves the sound of her own voice, DH says that she takes after mummy!

Everyone have a lovely weekend X

SparklyPseudonym · 21/02/2009 08:49

Thanks for congrats ladies. Have stopped shaking and am feeling quite relaxed (after taking temp and doing another test.....) We are booking an early, private scan. Is 6 weeks the best time? Was just popping into post link for blackrock but lovely mollie just beat me to it.
Emmsy sent my DD a lovely animal adoption for Bristol Zoo. So kind of her xxxx

BellaHarry · 21/02/2009 10:45

Congrats Sparkly, wonderful news I had a scan at 8wks this time, waited until then so I could be sure everything was ok. Sometimes 6wks can be a little early still, and I didn't want any doubt and having to wait to have a 2nd scan.
I'll update myself on Monday when I'll be 20wks, officially halfway
We have one good profile scan pic from Friday which I'll get dh to scan at work so I can put on here. Should take some bump shots too, as this will be my last pregnancy.
Emmsy, my dd2 loves the sound of her voice too, she sings all day, Abba songs at the moment, quite funny from a 3yr old
How's the snot going Georgie? Any improvement?
dh is playing golf tomorrow morning so I am going to treat myself and send the dd's outside to play, whilst I have a look around the net for 2 new mattresses for cot and moses basket and big sister t-shirts for them both. & then I may have to have a nap with the ceiling fan on, like I did today, so I don't fall asleep in a pool of sweat

HappyandEiknowit · 21/02/2009 12:11

hi ladies
sorry for being so absent recently. things are just up in the air at the mo as DH is struggling so i have spent most of my time comforting him and trying to hold it together myself
AF has nearly cleared off now so i should be back on the ttc wagon soon enough!
i have only scanned over but read enough to see sparklys news!!!!
congrats hun!!! im so made up for you
i will have a proper read through later

blackrock · 21/02/2009 12:21

Thank you Mollie...heading over, great news about Sparkly. Do come over, have a cup of tea, and share your news!

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 21/02/2009 13:31

Holy cow Sparkly, that's one grand re-entrance .

Very very pleased for you. Fingers crossed that everything works out this time.

Early scan would be good, to put your mind at ease. Would try and hang on until 7 or 8 weeks, just so you can be more sure of seeing something.

Try and have a relaxed weekend. Although I know you must be on cloud 9!!!!

Will catch up properly in a minute but OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sparkly [gri n]

Take it easy - deep breaths deep breaths!!

teeheelaydee · 21/02/2009 15:15

Right have calmed down now and have had a proper read.

Sparkly I agree with Scully and Georgie I had a scan at 6ish weeks and nothing much to see and no hb - sent me into the depths of despair so if you can bear to wait until 7 or 8 then I would recommend it. Has the shock worn off yet? Hope you all had a good time at Disney although that is probably a distant memory for you now!

Bella I don't know if they are still there but Monet's waterlilles are amazing at the Musee d L'orangerie in Paris (also not sure if it is called that anymore) but it is right near the Lourve and alot less busy and a lovely gallery if you are into that stuff. My advice with Paris is don't walk take the Metro as things are further apart than you think and you will need to conserve your legs!

Scully Hope you enjoyed your lovely morning - naps during the day feel so naughty - I love them. Nearly halfway - Marvellous.

Ei Sending you big big ((((((hugs)))))

Georgie How is the snotfest! Please update us on the party - sounds great and hideous all at the same time.

Things here are progressing (a bit too quickly!) Baby's room is nearly finished and we have ordered matresses - I am even starting to think about hospital bag in the next couple of weeks. Baby brain hit today as went for my haircut and it turns out I was also booked for highlights so in there loads longer than I expected and left a good deal poorer but at least I won't have to think about colour of hair for a while!

Fruity OMG 34 weeks - not long to go. I know you mentioned Raspberry Leaf Tea but my friend has given me some Raspberry Leaf tablets to use when the time comes - from the health food shop and I imagine more potent than the tea. Did you get anywhere with birthing poolgate?

FruitynNutty · 21/02/2009 16:56

Sparkly How you feeling today hon? I agree with the others, wait till at least 7/8 weeks

Just updating myself - 36 weeks tomorrow, 4 weeks to go!
teehee I won't be drinking the tea as it's horrible. Went to get some of the tablets today but they were out of stock at Holland and Barratt Gonna buy a shit load of pineapples tomorrow!

mibbes · 21/02/2009 22:11

wohoohohooooooooooooooooooo ! fantastic news Sparkly my love,am sooooo happy for you . I just popped in for the first time in ages and what a fabulous surprise to read such happy news !
teehee sorry I still haven't posted the CD, will do asap . I've been full of the cold and to top off my week have blocked milk ducts which is agony and am terrfied it turns into mastitis .
anyhoo, less of my boobs and more of whhoopppeeee for Sparkly's beany

scully · 22/02/2009 00:17

Poor you Mibbes, each time I read about your breastfeeding trials I have flashbacks to dd1. Hope ds is sucking the life out of you, to help clear the ducts, best thing you and him can do. If you get flu like symptons, hot and cold flushes, shaking etc and a red rash, get to the doctor or A&E straight away, mastitis won't go away without antibiotics. Keep feeding though, even from the sore side.
Feeling ok this morning so had a lie in until 7.15am and dh left for golf at 7.30am. I then got stuck into the housework and some gardening until 9.15am and I've stopped for the day now, getting too hot, plus I needed to eat
Bella, I'll have a think about what we enjoyed in Paris, I just loved walking around the city, we used the Metro but did walk most of the time, but then again I wasn't pregnant. dd1 sat in her pram and dd2 was 5mths old so charmed the Parisians in her pouch
God I miss not being able to visit interesting places, that don't have sand
36wks Fruity, could be any day now how exciting.

SparklyPseudonym · 22/02/2009 09:27

Morning ladies,
Have just looked at my work load and it's huge. I've got sooo much to do - oops. It's my own fault. Think I'll start this week....
Mibbes Poor you . I had blocked milk ducts a few times and it turned into mastitius twice. I was told to look out for red/hot patches on my boobs and to massage boob downwards to the nipple when DD was feeding to make sure the whole duct was being emptied. Once I started doing this I didn't get it again. It's so sore but keep feeding. Hope it clears in a few days. Thinking of you. xxxx
Scully You were brave visiting Paris with 2 DDs. We've struggled the last couple of times with 1 getting on and off the metro/negotiating pushchair etc. It's funny how you always want what you don't have - I'd love to be close to beautiful beaches (ours are brown...) and in the sun but I know I'd be sick of it quickly.
Fruity Am fine thanks. Trying not to let myself think too much. How are you?
Teehee [waves]. Glad to hear you're getting things done. Do post a pic of baby's bedroom. I could do with a hair cut....
Blackrock Stay if you like . I don't pop over to the strictly thread as often as I should...
Georgie How are you feeling/
Ei Am so sorry to hear your bad news. Lots of love to you and your DP. We haven't had a chat for ages. xxx

Think I'll book a scan for between 7-8 weeks. Only 3 weeks to wait.

scully · 22/02/2009 10:51

dd2 has just vomited all over her bed, so after another shower and change of pj's, she is snoring away in our bed. Hope she doesn't vomit there now
Have my m/w appt at the hospital tomorrow so would like her well for that.
Sparkly, in tehe 10mths before we moved back to Australia, we visited France, Italy, Ireland, Wales and Thailand. I had this feeling that once we got here we wouldn't go anywhere for a while so made the most of it whilst I could
Even dh complained about the heat today, he went off at 7.30am to play golf, got back at lunchtime and has said at least 5 times how hot it was today and that it was easier to play in the UK in the cold Glad it's not just me who has found this summer so draining.
Pity there are limited job prospects in Tasmania, it's climate is very appealing right now.
Currently working my way through a packet of M&M's which we bought at the movie's on Friday, still have some left which is an achievement Can only eat them when the dd's are in bed though, so I don't have to share

BellaHarry · 22/02/2009 11:15

Teehee thanks for that advice, sounds lovely! DH is the arty one so I imagine we'll be looking that up! Metro sounds like a good move too, Ta! Sounds like you are nicely organised! Well done

Scully I wonder if I could persuade DH to push me around in a pushchair, that sounds like the way to travel! Not sure he'd let me hang off his front in a pouch though anyway...hope your well; almost half way eh! fab! x

HerNameWasLola · 22/02/2009 14:36

Afternoon all

Sparkly glad to see you're hanging in there. I agree with what the others have said about the scan. I had my first scan this time (first of many ) at 7 weeks 2 days. I would have left it a couple of days if poss but the consultant can only do mondays. We saw a hb very easily at 7+2 with a trans-abdominal scan (I was so sure it would be via the lady garden I'd gone for a wax specially ) and with Thomas we saw one at 6+5. My main advice at this stage would be to STEP AWAY FROM THE THERMOMETER AND THE TEST STICKS!!! Because while it may be reassuring if the line gets darker and the temp stays high, there are no guarantees as you know from last time. Equally if the temp falls or the line fades that doesn't necessarily spell disaster either, but it could well be enough to send you into free fall, and it wouldn't change the fact that you'd still have to wait til 7.5 weeks for a scan anyway (if that's when you decide) All it would do would be to make the time go even slower and make your anxiety levels even higher. Up to you, but that's been my experience fwiw. Was thinking I might fb you with my list of milestones if you'd like to see it? Have found the best way of coping and of making the time go a bit faster is to have as many little hurdles to cross as possible, then each goal achieved is another step along the road. Remember, you never have to re-do this day with this pregnancy, every day is a step in the right direction HTH.

Bella loving the idea of you in a buggy Maybe Fruity has a spare one you could borrow? I remember I really loved the Musee d'Orsay on the left bank where they have quite a few of Rodin's sculptures, so maybe that's one to look out for

Ei hope you're haning in there. Thinking of you xx

Georgie great names We heard a name yesterday we both really liked, Talia.... not sure if we could carry it off though

Scully 90 degree vomit [bleurghh!] hope your DD's feeling better, and that the M&Ms are working their magic

Mibbes your poor boobies (such a silly word, boobie...) Really admire you for persevering. All power to you lady! Hope things ease up for you very soon

Teehee am very impreessed by how organised you sound! How did you get on in ikea? Any nice nursery stuff? Hope your Dp treated you to meatballs and chips! Mmmmmmm.... How you feeling about things now? Have been thinking about you a lot. And my friend Ruth who you met at Waterloo was asking after you the other day, she was thrilled to hear how far on you are!

How are you feeling today Georgie? You're absolutely right that it should be illegal for pg women to be ill Seems like you've had more than your fair share of it with this pg too. Really hope this is the last of it for you

We took the fairly massive step of meeting and booking our doula this morning Feel ok about it though pretty much... Fruity I hope you don't mind but I told her about your battle with the hospital for a water VBAC and about your bf concerns and she said you should give her a call. She wouldn't charge you anything. She was very with the hospital for you on your behalf. Tbh I'd be really interested to hear what you thought of her. She actually sued the hospital where she had her first for forcing her to have an unnecessary c section And she won She's La Leche trained as well, so hopefully she should be able to help you on both fronts. Let me know if you'd like her details and I'll fb you with them.

to Mollie & Cricri Hope you're both enjoying the sunshine

SparklyPseudonym · 22/02/2009 19:34

Scully Hope DD is better tonight. I'd love to give travelling a go...friends of ours went around the world with their 2DCs (2 and 3 at the time). Wonder if I could persuade DP to give up work and leave his mother .
Kate Thanks for all the advice. Tested again today and didn't get a darker line so panicked a little. Am stepping away from HPTs and therm though, I promise!! Yes please do send the milestones and I think I'll try and get a scan at 7 weeks...
Teehee DOH!!

mibbes · 22/02/2009 21:21

Thanks ladies, I fed from the sore side and after 2 feeds the ducts were unblocked and pain lifted - hurray !

Sparkly I was a nightmare for continuing to take temp (as you may remember !) and every dip had me panicking so it really is best not to. I also peed on LOADS of sticks and a line was a line, sometimes darker then other times lighter so again STEP AWAY ! Am just so so pleased for you missus xx

teehee CD is in envelope so 1 step closer ! Hopefully you'll get it before you give birth

scully · 23/02/2009 03:48

Well done Mibbes, it's so easy to give up but in the long run it's such an easy option for you and ds, and it's free
dd2 continued to vomit once we had moved her to our bed, but I was prepared and caught it in a bowl We moved her back into her room when we wanted to go to bed but she was back with us within 45min and slept by my feet (her favourite place!) all night. Seems ok today, so hopefully nothing major.
Had my m/w check this morning and all on track. Blood pressure good, tummy measuring as it should and heard the hb, so another checkup in 4wk. & dd2 behaved herself, so a successful morning
Well done with booking the doula Lola, she sounds like she will be a great support for you and dh.
I made a list yesterday of baby things we will need to buy. Don't need much, but can't help myself, do like a good list Bought 2 things on it yesterday too, such an achievement, Medela nipple shields and 2 newborn dummies Did some searching about where to buy the cot and moses basket mattresses from and will be keeping an eye out for newborn nappies on sale so I can buy a box or 2 when they are cheaper. dd2 in particular is fascinated with the dummies, I've hidden them in my wardrobe but she has asked to seem the a few times already.
Hi to everyone
