Hi All-hope everyone had a good christmas

Dawn put your feet up-hope you feel OK later

Detox-congratulations

Frosty/BSl/Dawni am really hoping things work out for you soon

We are all fine here though things have been a bit manic to say the least. Jesse feeds very frequently so I am shattered but he is of course gorgeous.

Thought I'd quickly post my birth story-feel free not to read!:
Am still so chuffed the birth went so well. I had had contractions on Thurs 18th (during which time I did lovely relaxing things like nit comb DD's hair!) but they completely stopped by the next morning, so really felt I would end up with an induction. Went to my midwife for a sweep that afternoon, and it turned out my waters were bulging out and my cervix was 'thin and effaced'!! Really odd as I had no contractions at this point. She thought we would not make it to the birthing centre, but luckily Brighton hospital was closed to new maternity admissions as they were really busy, so we went to the birthing centre rather than be sent to a hospital just as far away. It was so calm and relaxing and the water birth was just fantastic. We got there at 6pm and Jesse was born at 9.18pm. Odd to think a few hours earlier I had been chatting to the other mums at the school gates. Not one stitch (and had LOADS with my other son) and recovering afterwards was lovely. Felt like being in a B&B! There were 2 of us there the first night and 5 the second, so it was great to have peace and quiet. It was really sociable as well-I really enjoyed having roast dinner with 4 other mums on the Sunday with the babies all lined up in their cots next to each other. For all my midwife's concern, my waters never did break-they had to be broken as I pushed his head out!

DawnAS · 30/12/2008 15:35

Oh Majormoo, that sounds like a blissful birth!! This of course from someone that's expecting her first so I'm not sure whether any birth is classed as "blissful!!", I have all that to come. How wonderful for you though. Sounds like your little man was determined not to wait any longer!! Have you got any pics that you can post? Would love to see them.

Well what I thought was cramping has eased again since putting my feet up on the new recliner sofa we bought before Xmas. In no pain at all now again, just feel a bit odd.

Just wondered actually, did anyone's appetite reduce after the initial 12 weeks. I'm finding that if I'm busy (like moving house!), I've been missing meals and not feeling hungry, is that normal when you get to the second trimester? Baby looked fine during the amnio yesterday so I don't think I'm causing him any problems, but I am being more consistent with my eating now that the chaos has eased and I'm still taking my Pregnacare.

Just wanted to say aswell that I've got a really good feeling about 2009 for MNers on this thread. Let's hope my feeling is right!!

Majormoo-lovely to read your birth story. Sounds heavenly.

Have just watched the last episode of Survivors and it has ended annoyingly. Bah!

Hello all

All is well here - work today so not had the chance to get on and mumsnet!!

Well dh is naturally ecstatic....had prepared dinner for us which he was a bit surprised about when he got in as he'd called to say he'd be going straight out to the gym after putting dd to bed. Anyway, he sat down and I put his plate down with the pg test next to it. He looked at me, picked it up, looked at me again and said 'really?' and 'is this test yours?' . Men! i said well it wouldn't be anyone elses would it!!!

He is over the moon, extremely surprised and amazed that I managed to keep it from him all day!!

So, all good here - although the knicker checking madness has set in good and proper. Think I went to the loo about 15 times today!!! Am also desperate to tell people but know I need to wait a few weeks at least. We're having a new years day party on Thurs with some friends from work, so it will be a real challenge to keep them from wondering why I'm not drinking much....and I'm known for my love of wine!!!

Just checking - really struggling to keep up with all the threads I am on at the moment!!

Detox congratulations!! I am so pleased for you and fingers crossed for you

Frosty/BSL sorry AF got you both but hopefully you will both get a BFP next month and this time next year, you will have a lovely newborn baby.

Dawn glad the amnio was ok and you are feeling ok(ish!) I bet you are counting down the hours until Friday.

Majormoo your birth story sounds just delightful - I love the image of you all sitting round eating a roast dinner with the babies

MJIM I am starting my diet on Monday - have at least 3 stone to lose so it is going to be a long-haul job but I am going to use HC as my inspiration as she did it so I know it can be done.

All is good here - a bit hectic and my lounge looks like an aisle in Toys R Us We all had a good Christmas but I am glad it is all over. In fact, I am wishing the days away to next Monday now when 'real life' resumes and I can start getting into a routine with Sam! He is still sleeping like an angel and he seems to really get excited when Josh is around - he has not smiled yet but he is definitely close to it and I suspect he will smile at Josh before me or DH Sam has always screamed through his baths but these last couple of weeks, we have started bathing them both together and Sam just lies on his bath support staring at Josh really happily and not even flinching when Josh chucks water over him - it is lovely to see them together like that - definitely makes all the hard work of having 2 children worth it

Anyway, enough gushing waffling - hi to everyone else and Happy New Year!

Hi. I'm a newish MNer and am currently posting on one of the first time TTC threads. Everyone seems so friendly on this thread too so thought I'd join in

Congrats to everyone with babies, they're lovely posts and good luck to fellow TTCers. It's been really humbling to read posts where a BFP is taking ages. Here's to a happy New Year, with BFPs a plenty.

Currently counting down the days till AF due (poss sun) but likely to crack open a test as soon as they land on the doormat! Trying to stay cool as DH has no idea this is starting to take over my life.

FrostyTheSnowman · 31/12/2008 11:55

You are most welcome PurpleCrazyHorse and hope you have lots of success and stay around forever! Some of us have been on here for ages but the support is absolutely amazing. I used to be a DPO 10 and onwards tester but now I am a reformed character and will only test when late. TTC has taken over my life completely and even DH is becoming a tad fed up with my obsession to get PG weary and have mentioned sperm testing again last night.

Big wave!

Hi all,

Just thought I would pay a quick visit to wish everyone a happy new year. My plans for the evening are..........staying in of course!! No wild parties for me, not with a 5 week old (can't believe he's 5 weeks already!!) I did manage to go out on Saturday night though, for an hour and a half, I was very pleased with myself. It was nice to be part of the real world again! My parents babysat - at this stage I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving Patrick with anyone else, but I'm sure in time that will change!!

What is everyone else doing for New Year? I'm looking forward to hearing about all your plans, exciting or otherwise!!

Here's hoping that 2009 is the year for all the TTCers.

detoxdiva · 31/12/2008 12:59

Hi - just a flying visit to say Happy New Year to everyone!

Welcome PurpleCrazyHorse - fingers crossed for a lucky 2009 for you ttc. This is a very friendly and supportive thread...hope you hang around

We are planning a quiet night in tonight - I'm making a thai curry and will indulge in a small glass of wine . My mum and my sister (2 main babysitters) are both away for New Year, so we decided to stay in. I'm rubbish when I'm tired anyway, so will probably be in bed by midnight!!

Hope you all have a lovely time whatever you're doing - here's to lots more lovely bfp's and babies in 2009

Happy New Year

ChocolateEclair · 31/12/2008 13:17

HI everyone - last day of 2008! I can't believe it!

Dawn - glad you are resting up and seem to have come through the amnio ok. Was it fab to see beanie on the screen again? I bet it has grown so much bigger since you saw it last! Hope things are still good and you are enjoying all the celebrations - last NYE out for a while hey!

detox - glad that the BFP went down so well! Hope you are managing to relax also (and try to avoid the knicker checking as much as poss!)

ceebee/MJIM - I think I will be joining the weight loss campaign come March/April! At the moment I look a bit like a xmas pudding lol! I'm secretly hoping that lots of the weight is the baby but realistically I'm not going to have a 20 lb baby!

Loving the stories about the dc in the bath - I absolutely cannot wait! They sound so very cute and loving - no jealousy at all. Well done Mummies!

Frosty - glad the witch was only here on a short visit - are you going to enjoy a few glasses of blossom hill tonight and send some troops in? lol!!!

Welcome to purple crazy horse! There have been quite a few first timers on here (me included!) and these fab ladies have told us all we need to know! How long have you been ttc for?

dawni - hope the BDing is going well!

majormoo - what a fab birth story! I'm much prefering reading the nice ones from you lot over some of the horror stories on here!

Thanks for the welcome. Trying not to stop by Boots and buy an early PG test on the way home! DH has no idea of cycles etc and sort of want to go through this first test on my own. I think he's starting to wonder when AF is due but hasn't asked any questions yet.

Woo hoo, roll on 2009! Big sprinkings of baby dust (or is that pine needles!) Bah humbug... hate sorting out the tree.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo PurpleCrazyHorse-no testing or MJIM will tell you off.

MJIM-was deffo AF as had lots of brown gungy stuff for a few days before then the 1st 2 days were very heavy red bleeding. Also my temps were very low.

Hoping to indulge in the Blossom Hill but have one of my migraines so dosing up on tablets so I can face a glass then pay the consequences in the morning.

Let us hope we all get a happy result in 2009.

Hey all,

Have loads of phone calls to make but just wanted to jump on and say that the hospital have called (early) and WE'VE GOT THE ALL CLEAR FROM THE AMNIO!!!

We get the final more rare result in 10 days, but they said that it's so extremely rare for anything to show up in that that we shouldn't even think about it. Although we will be phoning when we get the letter to find out the sex!!

Anyway, must just jump onto the other thread and give the news there, but I hope you all have a wonderfully productive (scuse the pun...) 2009!!!
