Here we go again . Let the good news flow....

OP posts:
BellaHarry · 01/01/2009 16:46

I'm looking forward to watching Jonathan Creek too!!! when I was little my sister and I loved it and watched it obsesively...I think I may have had a crush on Alan Davies....eeeghh! Weird.

HerNameWasSanta · 01/01/2009 22:28

Hello my lovely ladies, Happy New Year!

I'm so sorry not to have been able to get on here til now. Bloody awful journey home. I had to drive all the way - 4.5 hours - cos DH had 3 pints at lunchtime... and we had to stop of at ILs on the way to collect the hounds, and have a cup of tea etc as it's FIL's birthday today. Bloody stupid day to have a birthday if you ask me .

Georgie I want to go and read your other thread before I post properly, but I'll be back shortly. I hope you're enjoying Jonathan Creek! Interesting that CriCri and I have said exactly the same thing about the FMC, I really think they are the best there is. I don't want to waste your time by repeating things others have already said so I'm going to go and see now. I used to have some links flagged up to sites about them, I'll see if I can find them again.

Big love to you and to everyone else xx

Emmsy1 · 01/01/2009 23:36

sparkly I have managed to upload 2 pictues of Amy and they were only taken today! did want to upload a few more but have been tying for over an hour now and am getting peed off with my phone will keep trying over the next few days!

Emmsy1 · 02/01/2009 00:02

I am really sorry for the neglect that I have bestowed on you lovely ladies. Please forgive me, life at the moment is a little hectic, I know it will get better, and I do think and worry about you all in my RL. It's great to know that we have a lot of intelligent ladies on here that can offer some sound advice, but we must also remember that there will be people on here that can also offer sound advice possibly because of their own experience or because of good old fashioned common sense! Everyone who posts on here is very important, you may not think your offering much, but you are. There is no individual on here that is above anyone, we are all equals. Keep up the good work ladies, you all deserve a pat on the back XXX

HerNameWasSanta · 02/01/2009 00:21

Here here Emmsy, Georgie was absolutely right in what she said earlier, there's no way I would have coped with the last year without the support of every single one of you. I think that the fact that we have all had such different experiences is one of the (many) strengths of this fantastic thread.

Georgie I've just posted on your other thread. Good luck tomorrow lovely, I really hope they can get you an appointment straight away. And if they can't don't let your nasty consultant put you off on saturday. Wait til you've spokent to the top dog before you form any definite opinoins.

Can I just say Uuurrghhh. I seem to have poisoned myself. Am trying very hard not to worry that it could be connected with/affecting the bean. Basically I have horrendous diarrhoea which I know is not a good thing to have in early pg... By my count I'm 5+5 today. Ohgodohgodohgod. Not sure what's done it. We had a McDonalds on the way home () I had a big mac and a strawberry milkshake () and since I've been feeling grotty I'm pretty sure I've remembered milkshakes are on the banned list due to listeria risk, the same as mr whippy icecream. Oh bloody hell. I know there are others here with far more pressing concerns, but I really don't need this right now, especially having got ridiculously tiny amounts of sleep for the last 2 nights as it is... If any of you have any wise words going spare I'd be very grateful. Sorry for the me me me post, can I catch up with you all properly when I'm feeling better?

scully · 02/01/2009 05:15

Hi ladies, Happy New Year Better late than never......we went to the Sunshine Coast on Monday and only got back today, was wonderful. Did very little of anything, apart from going to the beach (between 8-9.30am, too hot any later) then back to the house for several pool swims during the day, an afternoon rest, sitting on the deck snacking and visiting the supermarket to enjoy their air conditioning
We bought a kayak on Wed, so we took that out on the lake the last 3 days we were there. Both dd's loved going in it with dh. I just paddled around by myself, enjoying the peacefulness of the water (& no children within earshot )
& since getting back 3.5hrs ago, we've unpacked, dh has washed and vacuumed the car and I've done a load of weeding out the front of the house, so feel I can sit at the computer for a bit now.
Found some good snacks to eat whilst away, big fan of olives currently, and feta cheese and sun dried tomatos, and sour cream and chive pringles and tatziki, yummy
Can't manage big meals right now, or much dairy, but snacks like this are keeping me going.
Morning sickness has improved this week, still there, as is the tiredness but not to the same extent it was.
So sorry to hear about your scan results George, have you had a 2nd scan done as yet? I have my nucal scan on Monday, when I'll be 13wks, had my bloods done for this last Mon, when I was 12wks. Have to say I'm very nervous about it, probably given my age (38) as to what the odds will be. I don't have any advice, but think the 2nd opinion is definitly a good idea, no point telling you not to stress, I know I would be, but have no idea what I would in that situation.
Kate, how are you feeling now? Sounds like just crap timing that you get an upset tummy just after having it. With it being winter over there, I'm sure there are a load of bugs going around.
Fruity, I won't be going the expensive bag route either. I had a changing bag for dd1, for dd2, I had used a small backpack that I already had at home, found I didn't need half the stuff with dd2 that I thought I needed with dd1 dc3 will be luck if I have a spare nappy and some wipes in a bag I think Only 2wks off after the baby arrives, wow that's not long. I know you work from home, but you will still be so tired and not getting much sleep, to find the energy to look after other people's children, hope you can manage to give yourself a little longer off work, do you think it's possible?
Emmsy, love the new pics on FB, Amy has gotten so big already
Bella, I left the UK 2yrs ago and I knew about St Helier's reputation then How are you now, no more bleeding?
How was the Wimbledon meetup? Would have loved to pop over for it, maybe if we win a decent share of the $30m lottery draw tomorrow night then I will come and visit
Hi to everyone else, can't remember any other news, having just read 4 pages of posts on here. & I'm still trying to forget the 2 green-ant bites on my feet that I got when weeding before, gardening isn't nearly as enjoyable here as it was in the UK, with all the bities here

WhenFRUITYgotstuckupthechimney · 02/01/2009 09:12

Morning everyone

Emmsy you have such a wonderful way with words and little Amy is just so gorgeous I want to lift her out of the picture and cuddle her
Kate Don't worry too much about the dodgy tummy. There are a lot of tummy bugs going around at the moment. I've never heard of anyone getting listeria - even though they bang on about soft ice cream/soft cheeses etc. which is why I've been so lenient this time around. I've certainly allowed myself Maccy D's/Burger King milkshakes (Strawberry - mmmmm). If it's worrying you then try and avoid for the 1st 12 weeks.
I know you want to try your hardest to avoid anything going wrong this time around but I really think it would be out of your hands - you're doing a fantastic job already - I'm really sorry if that sounds insensitive. I suppose I'm not really qualified given it's not happened to me (yet - touch wood) so I have no idea how I would feel in your position.
I hope you feel better soon, just rest and put your feet up
Scully The Sunshine Coast sounds amazing. I'm very very . At the moment I will have to have just 2 weeks off. If I could have longer I would. We'll have to see. I've already told the parents I'm having April off and I have a feeling one set of parents has already made arrangements so will probably have to stick with my original plan with them.
Bloody Inland Revenue If I didn't have to pay on account for 08-09 then I would be fine - robbing bastards. I was saving so well too I shouldn't have bought the Phil and Teds but I didn't know then that I'd have to give away all my savings. I've sold my other double now too so gotta keep it

SparklyPseudonym · 02/01/2009 11:57

Morning ladies,
Am not dressed yet - we're watching Snow White instead.
Saw a thread last night about endometriosis and I'm pretty convinced that I have lots of the symptoms...talked to DP about it and he agreed and said he wanted me to see my GP - I explained that these things take time etc so I'm hoping he'll suggest going private. On a bright note I dreamt that I had a BFP First Response in my hand so something is def telling me to get seen .
Fruity Have booked my train tickets to London but we'll only be there from midday on Sunday 15th Feb because we get the eurostar on Monday.
Scully Sounds as though you had a lovely time. Hope the MS settles down now.
Kate How are you feeling today? I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. Just keep taking lots of fluids.
Emmsy Amy is so gorgeous and you're looking so well .
Georgie Any luck with getting an appointment? Have been thinking of you.

Sparkly Glad to hear DP thinks that seeing GP is a good idea, next he will think it was his idea to go private too
Georgie Still thinking of you hun, hope you get some more answers today
Emmsy Hello lovely lady, is it this month you have to reapply for your part time hours? Gorgeous pictures of Amy, I am so We all miss you lots but don't you dare think you are neglecting us, you have your hands full with your wonderful (large) family, you are like our matriarch Kate Hope you are feeling a bit better? I know you are worrying (don't we all) but think of something positive, what day is it today? Friday - been more than 2 wks since +ve and no spotting
Scully What a fabulous New Year celebration very Glad to hear ms has subsided a little, sounds like DH might have turned over a small new leaf
Fruity Inland Revenue

Unfortunately Sparkly & CriCri it was no exciting sexscapade that hurt my back, I twisted round on the stairs, that was it, how boring! Not had any BD for NY at all Also don't think I OV'd this month or itwas earlier than 14 days?? Just got out of bed to check on you guys but on my way back now as the chair is hurting my back, what a wuss!

Mollie waves to everyone not mentioned personally x

HerNameWasLola · 02/01/2009 13:43

Emmsy great photos! I can't believe how much Emma looks like you! And Amy is absolutely gorgeous

Scully I don't think I'm talking to you!!! Glad you had a lovely time Tsatziki. YUM.

Sparkly I hope you're wrong about the endo, but I still think going for investigations is a good idea, hope you manage to convince DP it was his idea soon

Fruity bloody inland revenue I'm with you on that one. Really hope that when it comes to it you manage to take more than 2 weeks off.

I heard from Georgie this morning, I'm sure she won't mind me telling you, she has an appt to have the nuchal re-done at 3pm on Tuesday.

I think I'm better At least I haven't had to go to the loo since about 1am (sorry it TMI!) I had some cereal with oat milk a couple of hours ago & I'm contemplating some chicken soup... Fascinating stuff hey??!

HerNameWasLola · 02/01/2009 13:53

Cross posts Mollie - good point! It has been over 2 weeks!! Way hey!! Now, if I can just manage another 34 weeks with nothing I'll be happy! Hope your back gets better soon Do you have any physio or anything for it? Try not to worry too much about whether you've ov'd or not (easier said than done... ) it's perfectly normal not to ov occasionally, or maybe you ov'd really early this month like Emmsy did the month Amy was conceived. When's your next consultant's app? xx

WhenFRUITYgotstuckupthechimney · 02/01/2009 16:13

Just back from Wimbledonia. Had a lovely catch up with Georgie and Bella

I also managed to finish paying my tax bill Feeling very sorry for myself now, although at the same time it's a weight off my shoulders.
Is there something going on out there that I don't know about? I went into Sainsburys to get a loaf of bread and the queues were horrendous! I've never ever seen it that busy. I was in the "baskets only" queue for a good 15 minutes (and our Sainsburys is gigantic!) I asked the check out lady and she just laughed at me and said "It's a credit crunch" eh? So, again, why is it so busy? I'm still baffled.

Ah well, finally home. I managed to sort out an ISA account while I was out so I can start to pay money in monthly to save for Inland Revenue. I'm not sure if I'm organised enough to be self-employed but at least I've taken a positive step.

Kate Pleased you're feeling a little better. Make sure you have a load of bread to go with your chicken soup to soak it all up Georgie said cold boiled rice is good for upset tummy.
Mollie Poor you Bad back sounds dreadful. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Sparkly 15th would be great. It's actually my sister's birthday on that day but I'm sure she'll be off galavanting with her friends or nursing a hangover so if you can do that day then I'd love to see you
I hope you get to see someone privately pretty smartish

BellaHarry · 02/01/2009 16:17

lola that's my Aunt's name..anyway , hope you're feeling better?

Scully Your post about beaches and kayaks ets made me sooo ! Wow. I can't quite believe St Helier's reputation has been so poor for all this time, it really is a dive!I'm much, much better now thank you, no more bleeding and made it to 9 weeks now...nearly at the 12 week sigh-of-(kind-of)-relief. If that even makes sense??!

Fruity and Georgie was lovely meeting up today, I got straight back my marking when I got home but have only managed 10 papers!!!Grrr this is never ending! Oh well, DH is starting a casserole now yummy!!

WhenFRUITYgotstuckupthechimney · 02/01/2009 16:17

Is it time to change back to our pre-Christmas names yet? I can't bring myself to do it yet

BellaHarry · 02/01/2009 16:19

Fruity we seem to have posted almost at the exact same time...spooky!

Hi everyone

Georgie best of luck for the scan Tuesday, will be thinking of you xxx

Kate glad you are feeling better

Mollie Ouch! twisting your back sounds sore!

Sparkly glad your DH is agreeing with you on seeing the GP

Fruity same thing in town today for me too it was crazy busy everywhere

big waves to Bella Cricri Ei Scully* Emmsy and anyone if have forgot to mention

All quiet with me today, just on boring old cd6 bought myself 2 packs of the clearblue opks in town today ?75!!!!!! from what i have read though the internet cheapies dont work well with clomid

piper84 · 02/01/2009 17:57

that was supposed to be 75EURO, the eure symbol doesnt seem to work on mn.

Only 30 more posts to go, we will have to start thinking of our next thread title

HeyThereSantasGirl · 02/01/2009 20:13

Evening all. Thanks for all the good wishes. So glad I've managed to get an appt at the FMC. I know we're not out of the woods yet, but it does feel good to do something positive rather than floundering around in the dark. And Prof Nicholaides will do my CVS the following day. Should I need one. Fingers crossed I won't, but if I do, then he's the best in the world apparently.

Am taking some comfort from the fact that I'm still feeling like sh&t on a cracker.

Scully It's so weird that the food you find comforting now would literally have me haging over a toilet bowl! More of a peanut butter sarnie and sushi girl atht emonet. Not together O hasten to add. Could eat sushi til it came out of my ears! Really really relly hope that all goes well on Monday. Will have everything crossed for you.

Fruity and Bella So lovely to see you both today. Really cheered me up. Sorry if the conversation was a bit 'me' centered. Bella, hope the marking doesn't take too much longer. And not sure I want DD1 to sit any exams now after what you've told me . Fruity, Sainsbury's was AWFUL. Never seen it so busy. What a nightmare.

Kate Thanks for the mammoth chat hon. You are a leg-end! Hope tummy on the mend. Just stick to the fillet o fish and diet coke next time!!!

Mollie Cor, pulled back and dodgy knee all in the space of 6 weeks. Ouch. Got any Deep Heat or Tiger Balm? Failing that, get DH to cough up or a massage!

Piper Hope the clomid not too awful.

Sparkly Good news about DP agreeing to private investigations. But hope that it's not endo.

Hi to everyone else. xxxxx

cricri · 02/01/2009 21:26

Georgie So pleased you've got an appt at the FMC, hopefully the nuchal there will put your mind at rest. Will be thinking of you next Tuesday and also Scully on Monday - hope all goes well for you too. I was also to read about your new year trip! It's absolutely freezing over here atm!
Fruity and Bella Sounds like you had a lovely meet-up. Fruity sorry about the tax bill - I've got mine to pay by 31 January. Do you have an accountant? They're quite expensive but they certainly know how to claw tax back! Mine seems to revel in using legal ways of setting off business expenditure against tax (toilet rolls, tea, coffee, bottled water...)
Mollie Hope your back is a bit better.
Piper Good to see you - CD6 already, BD time will be hear before you know it!
Kate (are you still using that name btw?!) hope you're feeling better now. Sounded nasty!
Sparkly Really hope you don't have endo Hope you get a private appt soon - shouldn't take too long should it?
Emmsy Lovely to hear from you and lovely photos Hope you're managing to get some time to yourself despite your hectic life.
Well, E had her first jabs today and touch wood has been fine so far. Eating and sleeping well and very alert when awake. I've been taking her temperature regularly but she hasn't developed a fever. Fingers crossed she continues like this, although I have the Calpol at the ready
Hi to everyone else (Teehee, Mibbes).

WhenFRUITYgotstuckupthechimney · 02/01/2009 22:02

cricri believe me, I put everything on expenses Coffee's in Starbucks, Lunch in Sainsburys, most of our food bill (with wine and obvious non-child food taken out) The IR will think I have the greediest children ever! All Christmas pressies - I make out they are all for the children I look after and their parents, I'm a very generous person Luckily I don't have to include a receipt for anything £10 and under so a car clean once a week gets put in too. When DS was in nappies I would add them too. Still can't afford tax bill though! It was just the shock of having to "pay on account" for 08-09 that threw me An extra £400 that I really really needed.
Ah well, it's gone now.

Aw 1st jabs! I remember that was painful, for me, not for DS! DS couldn't give a monkeys

Bloody hell Piper 75euro!!!! well it's stronger than the pound now so it would have been more here.

WhenFRUITYgotstuckupthechimney · 03/01/2009 08:14

Morning
I've been awake since about 5.30 because of DP's constant snoring Tried to go to sleep in DS's bed (he had crawled into our bed during the night so it was empty) but DS followed me in and decided to have a conversation.

I'm meeting a friend today with her 3 yr old boy. Trying to think of something to do that doesn't cost anything, or very little anyway. I can't think of anything. Was thinking of bowling. Her Ds has cerebral palsy though so not sure if he could manage it. It's only bad in his legs though - I think. (He's the one I did that sponsored walk for)

Has anyone else got Sky? We have been missing channels 4 and 5 since yesterday morning Also we're getting ITV Central W instead of the London version. It's really weird.
I don't know whether to phone Sky or not as I cancelled it ages ago so we only get the freeview channels now - might be out of Sky's hands now.

As of tomorrow I only have 11 weeks left until this baby is due [aagghhh] (plus 2 for being late of course) Really got to start thinking about where on earth he's going to sleep.
I suppose 11 weeks is quite a long time - as long as he doesn't come early (as if) so no panic. Most of the girls on my anti-natal thread have already packed their hospital bags I haven't even thought of a birth plan I'm not sure if I can be bothered with a birth plan tbh, mine went completely out the window last time.
At least we seem to have sort of agreed on a name - Jack Arthur Harris - You like?
Still not sure whether to hyphenate his surname like we did with DS. It would be Broughton-Harris. I don't know if I'm going to hang onto my surname or not when we're married. My Mum would be very upset if I lose it. My Sis and I are the last Broughtons. But it's a bit long winded with two isn't it? It would mean changing DS's name to just Harris. Such a difficult decision to make.
Did any of you married lot keep your maiden names? or hyphenate it?

I'll stop rambling now. Just bored

BellaHarry · 03/01/2009 13:21

Morning to all! I hoped I'd have a bath pannel toay but fil can't make it over to help so not happening for another week (been 18 months without!!)

Fruity I actually think Broughton-Harris sounds good I don't normally favour double barrel as they never fit on the school registers anyway but it does sound cool, I lost my surname, but then my Dad is a prick so was glad to be rid of that connection.

Georgie don't worry about DD1 in exams I don't believe she could look like a 'frog' etc anyway judging by how beautiful DD2 is! How did you sleep last night?

CriCri hope DD is ok and didn't need the Calpol in the end?

Piper 75 euros!!! that's extortionate!!!
