Ei so sorry she got you. Registering with a new doctor sounds like a good plan though. Didn't you see a consultant a while ago? Are they doing anything to help? Perhaps we should start a black market trade in clomid?!

Georgie ice skating sounded gorgeous! I'd have been with you on the sidelines though!

Sparkly and Ei I hope your hangovers aren't giving you too much grief Too much food and an early night is my favourite prescription We spent a FORTUNE in M&S Sparkly... Got some yummy canapees though which we're going to serve instead of starters on christmas day and boxing day. Even managed to find some without brie etc and sea food! Did I tell you we have 13 for Christmas Day and 10 for Boxing day? It was 14 on boxing day but my sister, her boyfriend, and an aunt and uncle now aren't coming. Luckily DH is cooking both days!! And my mum's helping out with oven space as she only lives next door. Turkey christmas day then ham & mash boxing day. Yum! Thankfully for our bank balance everyone is contributing, ILs are providing the turkey and my mum has bought the ham.

Fruity you be careful what you wish for! You'll end up with a new born and a 10 month old if you're not careful Hope you've had a better day with (not-so)D-P today. I'm so glad your friend's baby is doing well, must be SUCH a relief for them all

As far as london lunch goes, why don't you girls tell me when's best for you and I'll see if I can fit in? Any time before 5th. T'would be lovely to see you both

Right. Really ought to go and do some work. Don't rate my chances much! See you all tomorrow, sweet dreams lovely ladies

HerNameWasSanta · 21/12/2008 21:29

Bella cross posts. I would NOT be happy with my mum if she did that! And DH would go through the roof! He's already annoyed that my parents know and that was without me even telling them! (A little unfair of him perhaps!?!?) Poor you. Can you say anything to her?

WhenFRUITYgotstuckupthechimney · 21/12/2008 21:44

Kate Meeting up with Georgie on the 2nd so why don't you come along then? I'll only have one (very cute) 9 month old mindee and DS with me.
Are you free too Bella? Seeing as your DH has stolen the car for tomorrow, you can tell him I'm very cross with him

DP went to MIL's to have his hair trimmed this morning then I went out when he got back then he went out for drinks with his mates (unusual!) Not expecting him in much before tomorrow So I'e managed to avoid him today. I even had a PIL free weekend! whoopie!!!!
I do feel quite bad saying that actually as they are very nice people. Just really frustrating. Insanely laid back. Can't make any plans. I still have no idea what's happening Xmas day Probably won't find out until Xmas eve either. No idea whether or not to buy a turkey? or crackers or anything.
Ah well, might be Fish n chips for lunch!

Bella To start with, kicking feels like your bowels moving about, like gas popping inside you. You won't feel this for a while yet though. 1st preg and all. You might not feel anything until about 20 odd weeks.
Some people feel it earlier though. It is very easy to mistake for bowel movement though.
Now, at 27 weeks, there's no mistaking the kicks and wriggling I'm feeling. He's a lively little fella! Can see my belly moving around. If I lie on my back, I can see one side of my belly higher than the other where he;s sticking his bum up iyswim?
If you YouTube it you'll see people's videos of their bellies moving around.
Fascinating stuff!

MerryCRICRIstmas · 21/12/2008 21:58

Ei So sorry she got you Hope the new doctor can get you referred for tests. 2009 will be your year!
Georgie Sorry you've had the lurgy. Glad you're feeling better now though. Lots of nasty bugs around at the moment. Hope your DDs enjoyed the ice-skating
Fruity Your ILs would drive me mad as well! I couldn't stand not knowing what is happening on Christmas day! Hope you can sort things out with DP. Unfortunately it's all too common that men start behaving badly during pregnancy and afterwards, it's happened to several ladies on my AN (now PN) thread Even my DH seems to have become more irritable in recent weeks - probably lack of sleep though. Or lack of sex Not much chance of that these days with a clingy child. Fingers crossed she gets out of this phase very soon!
Bella When you have your scan, look at the report in your notes and see what position the placenta is in. If it's marked as being anterior then you may not feel much at all because the placenta cushions a lot of the baby's movements. That's what I had - I felt the movements at the side of my bump. Fruity's description is very good though, it does feel like gas initially and you wonder if you're imagining it. I felt Elise for the first time at around 17-18 weeks.
Sparkly Hope your hangover is better Really hope Santa brings you a BFP!
Kate Your Christmas celebrations sound lovely.
We're going to my sister's on Christmas day with my mum, gran and aunt who are over from France, MIL and SIL. Everybody is so looking forward to Elise's 1st Christmas! The presents are piling up under the tree for her already, she's going to be spoilt rotten!
Hope everybody else is OK

scully · 22/12/2008 00:02

Can understand your dh not being happy with your mother Bella, it's hardly her news to spread around I take it she's a tad excited about the news
I would also find that frustrating Fruity, not knowing what is happening, I'm a planner, hate leaving things to the last minute
Ei sorry af arrived, might make Xmas and New Year a bit easier though How's your hangover?
Just got one more thing to buy dh and then I'm done. Even returned a few things I had bought the dd's as they had too much and there's a load of presents from family and friends they have received as well.
I have found some camembert and brie that are made from pasturised milk, rather tasty is it too Very envious about your lunch meet up in London, could do with a little visit to somewhere cold and cultural for a few weeks. Don't think I'll be allowed to come over on my own though

Scully Wish I could find some nice pg related cheese, although to be honest I think my strict rules are going to lag a bit over Christmas. Not too much but just a taste of some naughty things!

Cricri Aaah sounds like a lovely Christmas and you will have double pressies to open as can't imagine Elise is up to it yet?

Georgie of your ice skating - I bet it's really pretty, much better than our teeny rink outside the library!

Ei So sorry that AF arrived. You sound pretty upbeat though. Depressing when you think of all the months though. I feel that this baby hasn't taken nine months to get here more like 2 years!

Bella Ooooh I would have been at my Mum and that is just the sort of thing she would do. In fact she did - some of her friends and her partners daughter knew before I had told some of my close friends which I was annoyed about. Like Kate said it's not their news to share but I think because they are our Mums they think it is.

Fruity PIL sound like a nightmare. I mean even if they aren't planners normally - it is Christmas - doesn't everyone plan a bit at Xmas?

We are going to my Dad's. Smoked salmon and warm duck breast salad on Xmas Eve and Roast Beef on Xmas day then cold beef, ham and chicken for about 2 weeks after that. Food very big for us and them so it's the main event really. Trying to get DP a mini Cointreau for his stocking but you can't seem to get them anywhere so giving up I think!

Just been to see my BF and her new born - he was gorgeous and just slept the whole time - think I will order one like that! Her DH's Grandparents turned up while I was there and hadn't even phoned to say they were coming - she was I thought the done thing was to phone first when new baby arrives!

HeyThereSantasGirl · 22/12/2008 14:41

Oh flippity flippity flip flaps. Am about to have nervous breakdown with our builders. They've just f8cked off out of the country without doing a load of stuff they were supposed to do before christmas. Project manager can't get hold of them. So freeking angry I can't even begin to explain. Am seriously going to rip them each a new asshole when they come back in Jan. Fruity would you like me to do same for your DP whilst I'm at it? . They are beyond unprofessional.

TeeHee I think M&S still do pasturised soft cheeses that are ok for preggy ladies. But as you said, a little of what you fancy won't do any harm. I had sushi last night. it's all I wanted and seeing as I'd been throwing up everything else all w/e it was the only thing I kept down and boy was it GOOD!

Ei So sorry TEW got you. Am desperately hoping that 2009 is YOUR year (and Sparkly and Mollie*). You're so upbeat. I really admire your attitude.

Sparkly How's the hangover/lurgy? How's DD? Any better? Did you manage to find some Medised?

BellaHarry Have you got a copy of 'What to Expect When You're Expecting'? It's a great book and takes you thru pg month by month. get a copy now! It was my bible when pg with DD1. How was the end of term party? And bit at your mum. I guess she's just really really excited.

Scully You sound really down love. You set to murder DH yet? Bet the heat is just crippling. Come on over to the UK for some grey skies and rain!!!

Fruity Ooooo, a w/e without the PIL. I bet you didn't know what to do with yourself! . I hate not knowing what the plans are. Get v anxious. If I was religious, I'd ask the church to make you a saint!

Kate Come and meet us on 2nd Jan! Would be lovely to see you again. Will just have Libby with me as Mollie will be at her dad's for 2nd half of school hols.

Cricri Took me and DH about 7 or 8 weeks to get back into the saddle after DD2 born. And even then, it was more because I felt I should rather than completely wanting too. Good luck! Candles and champagne. Oh, and given that it's prob been a while, it could all be over very quickly . Sorry, I do have an infantaile sense of humour.

WhenFRUITYgotstuckupthechimney · 22/12/2008 14:57

Georgie ROFL!!! That wonderful little saying has brightened up my day
It took you 7/8 weeks to get back in the saddle? Took me 2 years before I wanted it and that was only because I wanted another baby, hehehe.
Teehee Food sounds delicious! I'm very
I've finally got some info out of DP re Xmas day. I said, "So seeing as Xmas is only on Thursday, do we know what we're doing yet?"
He said, "Shall we go over to my mums then?" Halleyuja! (I know that's the wrong sp) we're finally getting somewhere. So I said "Right then, we won't need to buy a turkey then will we" His reply: "Oh well we'll probably have to help out a bit" Aaaaagggghhhh!
So do we need to buy a fucking turkey or not!
I'm just going to leave it up to him now, I'm just going to go along with the flow. No point getting stressed about it.

HerNameWasSanta · 22/12/2008 16:12

Fruity why don't you and DS just come down here? We have so many people coming anyway I'm sure 2 more will be just fine! And it would mean I don't have to find space for my DH's old teddy which my MIL is apparently bringing () or so my mum tells me () cos she won't sit down with 13 at the table. Shame christmas isn't in a few weeks time, then we could tell her there are 14 at the table already!

Will catch up with you all properly later, need to try to walk the dogs before it's pitch black then we're out with some friends tonight which should be good. Oh, and I'm having my bits waxed at 5.45! Nice! Poor DH, yours isn't the only one not getting any CriCri! No nookie for my DH for the forseeable future I'm afraid (Should be but not really!!) I may relent if/when we have a good nuchal result at about 13 weeks. On the other hand, I may not! He had to wait a loooooong time last time, about 4.5 months in fact (if you say it in months it sounds shorter than weeks!!)

SparklyPseudonym · 22/12/2008 19:46

Evening all,
Have finished my Christmas shopping and wrapping today - wooohooo!! Am heading to tesco in a couple of hours to avoid the Christmas rush.
Took my temp this am. It was 37.04 which is a bit higher than normal at 12dpo. Am guessing AF should be here on Weds by EWCM.
Kate I'm going to push the no nookie rule too but not until I get a BFP.
Fruity Christmas is a stressful time without the messing around!! I hope your DP manages to organise what's going on.
HTGG at your builders!! Can we all come and kick their arses? Hangover and lurgy both seem to have gone but DD is still miserable . She's not been well at all but hopefully this is the last of it. Forgot about the medised but she's slept the last two nights.
Teehee [ahem] photos. You'll be amazed at the number of people who turn up to see baby uninvited. It's a real pain in the arse.
Cricri You're xmas plans sound lovely. Please post some pics of Elise on Christmas day .

Hello to everyone else.

Hi Gang. Just wanted to let you all know that my (early) 12 week scan went really well. No percentages for Downs yet as still need to have blood taken. But should get some idea by early Jan. Just really very relieved that there was a heartbeat and that all looked good. Sonographer said that nasal bone was looking promineant which is good sign.

EDD changed slightly to 10 July. If Pickle on time then there would be exactly 3 and a half years between Libby (Jan 10 2006) and DC3. But that would just be too anal retentive wouldn't it!!!

Sparkly well done on finishing your Xmas shopping, I've just wrapped DS's FC pressies, he's got so much! No wonder I'm so skint at the moment! FC obviously feeling guilty as DS will be getting half the amount next year.
Oooh, I'm sending you soooo much babydust! Very good temp but I won't get your hopes up too much

I'm starving, DP cooking a pasta bake, can't wait!

HeyThereSantasGirl · 22/12/2008 21:24

Hey Fruity. Yep, have got some pics of Pickle. Will try and get them on tomorrow.

Supposed to be wrapping tonight, but Ma and Pa here (they looked after Moo and Libs whilst we went to scan) and can't wrap their presents whilst they are in same room!

Moo very excited about being a big sister again. Libs just adamant that if its a girl then she should be called Ariel .

Hope pasta bake worth the wait. xxx

Hey Piper!! Welcome back from your honeymoon
Where did you go?
So you have 1 and a half days of xmas shopping to get done, good luck! Apparently there were queues to get into the local huge Sainsburys earlier today. I'm not going out there!

I'm shattered already, I've got my very gorgeous but very very loud non sleeping friend's baby today. He's just so cute, I couldn't wait to have him but I obviously forgot about the ring-social-services-I'm-being-murdered blood curdling scream of his
I've actually managed to get him to sleep after 40 minutes I'm not used to this. All my regular mindees go to sleep the minute I lay them down, then I get a break for almost 2 hours. I'm desperately hoping I don't have one like this. Don't think my neighbours would appreciate it.

Are we all set for Xmas? (except Piper of course )

WhenFRUITYgotstuckupthechimney · 23/12/2008 14:52

Well that was a whole half an hour of break for me He's awake now.
So so so glad I don't have him everyday. I think I would run away

HerNameWasSanta · 23/12/2008 21:39

Evening ladies

Georgie Woooooooo Hoooooo for the great scan! I'm so thrilled for you! And lovely to know before christmas!

Fruity I hope your little mindee behaved himself eventually Good practice for you!! Glad to hear DP was cooking you dinner, sounds like an improvement!

Piper glad you had a lovely honeymoon Where did you go? CD38 sounds very promising, is that a long cycle for you?

Ei at af... What are your instincts? Was it af? Or not? I think Mibbes had something similar at the start of her pg with Evan didn't she? So hard, don't want to get your hopes up. Will be thinking of you whatever happens xx

Sparkly Any news on your temp today? Seeing mine rise at 12DPO was one of the things that made me test last week... Are you going to test on christmas day if TEW doesn't show? What a christmas present! Or you could test on boxing day so you can still drink on chrtistmas day! (Cos that's how it works )

I went to see my friend and my little god daughter (10.5 months) this afternoon - the one whose husband works in Iraq. Turns out she got a bfp the weekend we conceived (they haven't used any contraceptive since their DD was born!! ) but she started bleeding the next day... She was hopeful at first that it might just be implantation, but the 2nd day it got really heavy, painful and with lots of clots She bled for 8 days I feel so sad for her, it was only a few days after her birthday and her DH was away so she was basically coping with it by herself Really glad she's felt able to talk to me about it, I just wish she'd told me sooner. She said she didn't like to after everything we'd been through. Silly girl. She was genuinely thrilled to hear our news though which was lovely - we know each other very well and I wasn't going to lie to her when she asked, especially when she'd just shared what she's been through. And if DH doesn't like the fact that I've told her then he can bog off!

We're going away to stay with friends-of-friends for NYE. Apparently there will be 12 of us for dinner and people are bringing various courses/contributions etc. I'm totally paranoid it'll be pate followed by shellfish followed by blue cheese... Any suggestions? (short of taking a packed lunch and making out I'm a really fussy eater, which I'm NOT) I don't really mind people knowing, but DH really does. Although I would have thought that the fact that I won't be drinking on the booziest night of the year might be a bit of a hint... Suggestions please clever ladies?!

Hope you're all having a relaxing evening before the madness of christmas begins in earnest!

hohoholaydee · 23/12/2008 22:32

Georgie Great great news on your scan. How long do you think that comfort will last - about a week? BTW the food standards agency says sushi is fine as long as it's been frozen before which it says most shop bought has been! I've actually found their website quite helpful as it cuts out the myths and scares so I wasn't constantly worrying and my diet suddenly expanded. Thanks for the tip about M & S.

Kate I am totally in awe of your hosting marathon. Are you and DH not totally stressed about it? I would be, it all sounds lovely, although is your MIL slightly mad - don't worry if she is my DP's mum is completely bonkers! Difficult about NYE - I would just play it by ear. Pate is unlikely I would've thought and most other things are not too dangerous - you may just have to push your food around like a super model. Although I'm with you on just fessing up-it's such a bore to pretend all the time. I think this is the calm bit of Christmas - now most things are done and if they're not it's too bloody late anyway - I love this bit, although I bet tomorrow turns out to be another rush around nightmare!

Fruity sounds like you might be getting somewhere with DP - enjoy your pot noodle on Xmas day - it might be what you end up with if no Turkey organised!

Ei You did buy some tests so you could sneak one. Kate's right though until you know you are definately up the duff you can drink as much as you want - it's like the eating standing up rule!

Sparkly Scan pics are on my laptop at last but I am on DP's - grrrr. Are you all better in the Sparkly house now?

Mollie you have been a little quiet - are you OK? I worry when you are not around keeping us entertained with your sex stories.

Piper Welcome back - fingers crossed you get a honeymoon BFP. Did you go anywhere hot and sunny?

I have the most horrid bump pains today - you don't think it's anything to worry about do you? I have felt baby today and saw midwife yesterday and all hunky dory but have had pain for a couple of days - just doing too much? Why do babies never kick when you want them too.

Will try and post tomorrow but if I don't hope you all have a lovely Christmas, eat plenty and get all you asked Father Chritmas for. (Yes I know that will be a BFP or a hassle free pregnancy depending on who you are!

HeyThereSantasGirl · 24/12/2008 09:06

Good morning gorgeous ladies. Well, DH taken the girls off to Canary Wharf to go and see his offices. Mollie is very excited as she wants to sit at his desk and do some trading. Maybe she can make us some money to pay for the build . I've got 4 hours on my own to wrap DH's pressies and pack. Bliss. We're off down to Ma and Pa's this arvo. Really really looking forward to it.

Whilst I've got the chance I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for all your support and friendship this year. It means so much to have a lovely group of friends that are so understanding and loyal. Sometimes people in RL just don't quiet understand what you're going through. I feel incredibly lucky and priveledged to have met you all. You're all such strong, funny, loving, honest women. One Chrsitmas wish would be that we can continue to be friends for many years to come.

TeeHee It could just be ligament stretching ot your skin expanding. I do remember being in agony with Libs around about that time in pg. Go and get some Bio Oil, or just slather on some good, rich moisturiser to help your skin expand. Can you just lie down quietly and drink some cold water? That usually makes baby move around. I am sure that everything is ok honey.

Fruity Hmmm. Fish fingers for Christmas lunch then?! Am sure that everything will turn out fine. But, try and get DP on his own after a few beers (when he's amenable) and have a quiet word with him. Looking forward to meeting up on 2nd. You can vent then hon!

Kate Agree with TeeHee. Am sure that you'll be able to eat most stuff. It's the drinking that will be hard to cover up. Although, have heard that apple juice and sparkling water look remarkably like champagne.... maybe you can agree with DH that you won't tell anyone, but if they ask then you will tell them? That's a compromise.

Ei Ooooo. What ya gonna do lady? Test or not test? Didn't realise that Sian 2 days older than Libs. How cute is that. Libs getting Mollie's first bike as her b'day pressie. We're re-using and re-cycling like mad!

Sparkly What's your temp today? And yes please, so come and kick my tosser builders arses for me! Hope DD a bit perkier today. Am sure the Christmas break will do her good.

Mollie I second what TeeHee said. Are you ok? Has something happened. Really hope it's just cos you're busy with Christmas stuff. Sending you hugs.

Piper Hmmmm, honeymoon. Hope it was fab with lots and lots of great......memories! And brave you. One and a half days to do all Christmas shopping. Phew.

Scully Christmas on the beach. Yum. Hope the mango salad goes down a treat. And hope that DH gives you some help over the festive period. If not, then go on strike!!!

Cricri and Mibbes Hope you both have wonderful Christmas' with your first borns. It's a magical time. Lots of pics please.

Emmsy Hope you at least get five minutes to yourself over Christmas.

Right, thats me done. Loads of love to y'all for tomorrow. Happy Christmas and a very prosperous and peaceful 2009. xxxxxx

Hi guys, long time no post...not so sick since finished work!

hernamewassanta I know!!! It's only 'cos she's excited but it's a little odd having people know just hope it works out now or I'll have more people to let down.

Fruity ooh sounds weird gass, I know a lot about that! I really want to make it on 2nd but DH has golf again!! (same excuse as last time I cancelled on you!) So will probably need the car again!!! Where are you meeting? If it's train worthy i.e Wimbledon etc I could still make it?

CriCri 1st Christmas..how lovely Santa Clause and all, I really miss him! Does he buy presents in your house or just deliver them? Been having a disagreement with DH he sees Santa as a glorified delivery guy! Now in my house he made/bought our biggest presents??
Will look out for that with scan, ta

Scully I know naughty mum! It's her 2nd grandchild too, I'm not sure why she's so excited?? She wants to be at the brth too! Not sure that's whats I/we want though.

Heytheresantasgirl End of term party was dull and uncomfortable, felt like everyone was staring when I danced to crap DJ, never realised before that I need to be drunk to dance!! Ta for the book tip, I'll look it up And not too many familt members to tell now, no, only Uncle's pg wife, few weeks ahead of me, really hope she doesn't get wind of it as she will be so excited we're going through it together!
