Thought I would start a thread for the few of us who havent got a clue about what is going on! Im TTC #2 and currently on CD23 of what I am hoping is a good month, have been doing lots of BD and have been using Ov sticks although I am rapidly loosing faith in them! Not sure when AF is due or even if I have ovulated yet! I have weird cycles because of Endometriosis and was very lucky to concieve my DC but struggling this time round and thought for some strange reason it would be fine this time too!

So anyone in the same boat as me please come join me so we can be confused together x

Sorry that was a bit confusing...FSH and LH tests are done at the beginning of your cycle.

hanny20 · 19/09/2008 21:37

thanks annasbananas!
I will definitely follow your advice and get the other tests done. My cycles vary from 26-33 days so thats why i used the ovulation sticks but a few months they haven't shown ovulation, all of whiched i mentioned to gp who didn't give me any help really.. All my friends seem to be getting pregnant by mistake! Although i am delighted for them, it makes me feel really upset. Then feel guilty as should be so happy and concentrating on my other child.

Hello, i've been ttc for 10 months now and have really irregular periods. I'm on day 49 now and have no idea if or when i ovulate. I'm usually between 36 and 60 days. My doctor is useless so i'm going to phone on monday and ask to see someone else as he didn't even offer me a blood test just told me to have lots of sex!

AnnasBananas · 20/09/2008 12:07

MasterDebater/Hanny in my experience GP's don't really have enough knowledge about cycles which aren't 'text book' ie longer than 28 days! As for advising 'lots of sex' I was told that, too. What do they think we are doing????Playing bridge??

If you are not sure if/when you are ovulating and you have been TTC for a reasonable length of time (as you both have) the best advice I could share would be firstly to get all hormone levels checked via blood tests (FSH, LH, Progesterone) then next cycle start 'charting' by taking your temperature every morning and either chart it manually or by using Fertilityfriend.com. That way you can see for yourself whether or not you are ovulating and when. Ovulation Predictor Kits are very useful too, but expensive, and can be a bit hit-and-miss when you have a very long cycle. I spent a lot of money on packets and packets of them before I gave up and just learnt to read my own body's signals. At least charting is free! Plus if you don't manage to conceive right away you can show the GP/RE your charts so they can get an idea of where you're at.

Hello
I am totally new to this and very confused at the minute can anyone help??

I have also had waves of nausea but convinced myslef this was my imagination! Negative test this morning and i dont know what to do! im so confused!

littlemissmischief · 20/09/2008 19:07

Hi to all the newbies {waves}

AnnasBananas - thanks for your words of wisdom again, think I will be going to the docs if this monh isnt my month too although I do feel like they dont care most the time!

Wishing - All the signs seem good and I dont want to get your hopes up but it took me 4 weeks to get a BFP with my first so could just be a bit early for you yet, I would try to not get too stressed out by it (I know its so hard) and do another test in a few days, if still no AF or BFP maybe go to see you doc?

Well Im on CD28 and no idea if ive ovulated but hope so and hope I caught it this month too! x

Wishing - did you test again this morning? Fingers crossed for you!

Claire236 · 22/09/2008 13:48

Feeling a touch hacked off today. 5 weeks off the pill & still no period but got what feels like period pains yet again. Going to do another pregnancy test this weekend (decided to test every 2 weeks until AF appears & I can work out my cycle) I had what I thought were period pains when I was pregnant with ds so keep wondering if maybe that's what it is & generally driving myself mad thinking about it. Sorry about that but needed to get it off my chest.

theautomatic · 22/09/2008 13:56

I'd love to join please. I must once have known about cycles and ovulation because the one time I did the deed on what i knew was a "good" day I got pregnant. Very lucky I know. Now ttc number 2 and having just come off the pill have no idea about cycles. Seem to have had total memory loss about how to proceed apart from doing the obvious of course! Hoping for the best this month, though have no idea when period should be due, stupid or what.... Infact, can someone tell me what bfp means? Keep reading about it but completely oblivious to its meaning, and what is AF? I am so not in the know...!

AnnasBananas · 22/09/2008 14:00

AF = Aunt Flow!! Your period.
BFP = Big Fat Positive (on a pregnancy test)

theautomatic · 22/09/2008 14:03

Thanks annasbananas, great to finally know the meaning! Would never have guessed the Aunt Flow one in a million years. I know who to go to in future if I stumble across any more abbreviations!

Mhairi100 · 22/09/2008 16:30

Claire, know how you feel, I'm now 6 weeks off the pill, plenty of period pains, no period! I tested last Monday, and am not allowing myself to again until the end of the month. Time seems to be going exceedingly slowly...anyone else who came off the pill - how long did it take you to get back to normal? Sending you all patient thoughts...!

AnnasBananas · 22/09/2008 17:39

Took me six and a half weeks to get my period after stopping the pill. So I would have ovulated at around four weeks and then AF followed two weeks later.

I'm sure AF will just be around the corner, Mhairi and Claire, unless you are already pg from catching that egg without realising!! Lots of women seem to fall pregnant from coming straight off the pill, and never getting their first period.

Claire236 · 22/09/2008 18:11

I got pregnant with ds without having a period which is making this waiting even more difficult. If it happened once that quickly is it likely to happen again or was I just lucky. Also my periods had stopped a few months before I stopped taking the pill which my GP blamed on the pill but I can't help worrying that something's wrong.

theautomatic · 22/09/2008 18:45

In a similar position, stopped taking the pill about 3 weeks ago. Had lots of period like cramping pains, dont know whether its my period on the way or whether I got lucky and now pregnant. More inclined towards thinking I'm not pregnant, hate the way our bodies play tricks on us. Have lot sor urges to go for a wee in the night too which I know is from drinking to much tea but you cant help get your hopes up!

AnnasBananas · 22/09/2008 19:59

Claire - don't worry about when you didn't get your period when you're on the pill. It's not a true 'period' anyway, as the pill stops ovulation, the 'period' you experience when on the pill is a withdrawal bleed, the reaction of your body when you stop taking the active hormonal pills for seven days every four weeks.

Have you noticed changes in your cervical mucus (sorry if TMI...) that would show your body is starting your cycle again?

Claire236 · 23/09/2008 09:05

I was on the mini pill so didn't have a break & I'd been on it for years. GP changed my pill when I went in having been getting really severe period type pains every month for 3 months & pains stopped but so did my periods. I hadn't thought about mucus until you mentioned it but I wasn't getting any whilst on the pill & I am getting some now but not much. Not sure if that means anything or not. Think I'm going to give it 8 weeks then if still no period go to my GP & jump up & down until he actually does something as they haven't seemed remotely interested so far.

AnnasBananas · 23/09/2008 14:10

Claire - if you are getting some mucus now that is a very good sign that your natural cycle is returning. Keep an eye out for the mucus which looks like egg-white, that will show ovulation is coming, then your period will follow roughly two weeks later. Hoe it comes soon for you.

Mhairi100 · 23/09/2008 17:09

Hi AnnasBananas, thanks for your reassurance, I guess it's not really been that long, though it does feel like it! I've had continuous symptoms that I'm about to get my period for 4 weeks now. I have no idea what being pregnant feels like, but as I had a negative test on 15th I'm assuming I'm not. Claire, theautomatic, hope you don't have too much longer to wait either!

Claire236 · 25/09/2008 16:42

Well still no period. Waiting until Saturday to do another pregnancy test. How's everyone?

gemdangracie · 25/09/2008 19:27

Still no period for me either!! Not even getting any period or crampy type pains which I always used to get when I ovulate and get my period!

Never looked so farward to a period in my life, least once I have it I can relax a little and we can start properly tyring again!!

Hope that everyone is well. x

rislip · 26/09/2008 11:44

Hey Dr Banana - over here please...
Should I count my period as starting when I get some spotting at the start or when it properly starts 4 days later? Thanks. Here we go again....

AnnasBananas · 26/09/2008 12:49

No, Rislip, spotting doesn't count as cd 1. Your first cycle day is proper red blood flow sorry if TMI...!

rislip · 26/09/2008 13:02

Thank you, fingers crossed for this month.

dustyb · 29/09/2008 16:40

Hi can i join in. Not sure about this whole raw egg white thing!!! Once you get that do you BD as i did an ovulation kit this morning(an expensive one!) and it showed no ovulation but i think my mucus is egg white this evening. I think i had a miscarriage last month , only 4 1/2 weeks (didn't do test but was 6 days late which is not usual for me and boobs were very swollen- not like pmt ones!)but not sure if that will mess up my usually perfect 28 days cycle. Have done ovulation kit from CD12 until today C14 and no dark line. THere is a faint line but the packet says that is neg. Anyone got pregnant while having a faint line? On the packet it says some women don't ovulae every month which is scary. I am ttc number 3. 1st and 2nd were within 1st month of trying so this is frustrating. Only been 3 months but i am impatient!!!
