Hello everyone - wow, Bubbap congrats!!! That is sooooo exciting!!

Crunchy your hol sounds gorgeous, esp sipping champagne in the hot tub every night, lovely!!

I am back from a weekend in Huddersfield. My best friend's mum died a week ago and I can't be at the funeral tomorrow (school mean) so I went up this weekend to see her. Stopped at my parents' which was lovely, but all a bit depressing in all...

Got home to an empty house as DH is doing a 10k run at Wembley which starts at 6pm....

On the exciting side, we are getting a cat on Tues!! The lady from the rescue centre came round on Friday night and we are rescuing a 3 year old black male, he looks gorgeous!! Will post photos!

How has everyone's weekend been? I am back at school properly tomorrow (inset); children on Tues, yuck.

Bubbap I bet you will have other things on your mind at the start of this term!!

eth37 · 31/08/2008 17:38

Sorry - I am just catching up on the posts properly and I have realised I am a complete idiot!! Babymadness - welcome, and sorry for confusing you with Bubbap! Where is your new school? V exciting!! I am a primary teacher, head of KS1 this year which is a bit scary. I have got a year 2 class this year.
Summerbird glad the festival was good and BIL excelled himself!! And glad DH is keen to give the preseed a go - not sure mine would be.... He is a bit of a wimp with things like that!!

Dawn really sorry AF turned up. At least you can have a nice glass of wine and BD fest next month. I know this isn't what you want, but as me and Saz were saying - how cute would a June baby be?!

Saz I am always seeing cute babies on trains and wondering if I could steal them....Not really of course. Before you come round and arrest me... There were some baby girl twins on my train back today, and they were soooo cute. Their mum was reading them the Observer which I thought might be pushing it a bit as they only looked about 10 months!!

babymadness · 31/08/2008 18:39

hi everyone....you all seem so inviting...

crunchy and eth...well hello!! its so lovely to know i'm not the only one dreading the start of term...dont get me wrong i love teaching but with all this baby madness the summer has just flown by.....i live in north london but used to be in birmingham at Lyndon school in solihull (3 years ago)Been teaching at a school in Harrow for last 3 years but time for a new challenge..didnt want to move due to the fact that i may get preggers and maternity pay would really suffer but a year down the line i gave up on that thought....been trying now for 5 years in total and really getting quite desperate!! first cycle of clomid and now on 2ww...blood tomorrow so i'll know on tue if ovulated...fingers v v v v crossed!

so nice to chat....

crunchynutter · 31/08/2008 19:31

oh fingers crossed! I'll be thinking about you xx

I have just finished my NQT year and felt the same about TTC but have been on depo provera for 6 years and was told it can take upto 2years to conceive after stopping so figured I may as well! I stopped it in June and still no AF so figure the statistics are right. At least I will have worked there about 3years then though I guess

summerbird · 31/08/2008 20:10

hi girls and welcome back crunchy oo wow you sound like you had a fab holiday, we were staying right by rhossili beach in Llangennith, did you surf? and i am loving the sound of the hot tub!!

babymadness i am in that dilemma at the moment, i really do not like my job and me and DH want to move back to his home town in Birmingham, i am in two minds over whether to take the risk and just have 6 months unpaid maternity leave or whether to wait until i get PG and then apply for new jobs after the paid mat leave - but how long is that going to take? decisions decisions!

dawn booo about AF turning up but at least you know you are back on track, it looks like we have almost synched too so we can look out for signs together.

bubba i am going to be soooo lookng out for spotting over the next week!! it is fabulous news and welsh babies sound so cute, i remember when my cousins son said Pontypridd for the first time i nearly spat my brekkie out laughing at the cute welshness!!!

eth oo am excited for you getting your pussy cat. Our two cats were from the cats protection and the lady who came to interview us was very efficious but lovely, we felt like we were being interviewed to adopt a child! our boys really make the house come alive though, we have had them for a year now. i will find some cute pics to put on here.

big waves to everyone else

Vix67 · 31/08/2008 20:19

Dawn im sorry about your AF, try and stay positive!!

babymadness good luck for tues, i took my first month of clomid last month and it did make me ovulate so hopefully it will have worked for you too!!

xx

babymadness · 31/08/2008 20:28

MichaelaS · 31/08/2008 20:31

Hi all, quick update....

Got AF yesterday (poo!) so now on CD2 with a "must try harder this time" attitude!

people keep asking me if I am pregnant- how annoying.

Where is everyone else? Well done and congrats babymadness !!

MichaelaS · 31/08/2008 20:33

Darn, meand bubapp, sorry babymadness!

Vix67 · 31/08/2008 21:08

Aaw never mind michaela , i feel the same this month - Must Try Harder!!
So hopefully all of our hard work will pay off!!

wildfig · 31/08/2008 21:56

Congratulations, bubbap! How exciting! And sorry about the flurry of AFs, Michaela, Dawn & Summerbird - June is a great month, with super-communicative Gemini babies!

I'm not a teacher, but I'm getting a real 'back to school' feeling too, probably because of this weather - and the biology "homework"?! My sister and my mum are both teachers; my sister managed not only to time both her babies to arrive on the same day for maximum birthday efficiency, but also in March, so she had to do three days in school to get a full Feb-September maternity leave run. I am in awe of her in many ways...

Bonifacio · 01/09/2008 06:37

Hi everyone!!

Wow what a busy week!! Congratulations Bubbap what amazing news!!

Wll we had an amazing week in Oman, absolutely boiling, sun sea, sex and alcohol what more could a girl ask for!! I will never doubt my DP's hoiliday destination choices again!! I am just looking at where to go next now!!

Hope evryone is ok and we get lots more BP's this month!!

Ooh and summerbird my mum, I agree from what I posted it looks like she is being supportive, but from the way she says it, uts very much about getting the attention back onto herself Can't reallly describe it, she drives me mad, i'm just thankful i'm thousands of miles away!!

Off to do the food shopping now!! Congrats again Bubbap

summerbird · 01/09/2008 09:01

LOL dont worry bonifacio my mum has the same knack of saying something in a completely different tone of voice, really winds me up too!! The older i get i do try to understand her but it is hard. Glad you had a good holiday, havent been to Oman before.

Yep it is definitely back to school today, it is September so summerbird gets out her thick tights!!

saz007 · 01/09/2008 09:30

Morning all,

Congrats to BubbaP Wow such good news! Fingers crossed for the docs today lady

Bonifacio sooooo of your holiday! I've had the brochures out over the weekend and Oman and Muscat were in there. I always start planning my next trip when I'm on the plane home

Typical isnt it, according to the TV summer is over and autumn starts today and it's the sunniest its been this year outside my window! Why can't I be a lady who lunches???

Gutted for all the AFs but I'm liking the PMA that this thread has. That's got to be worth something I think anyway

Well I'm on CD20 today and have had crampy feelings this morning. Far too early for AF methinks.

BubbaP · 01/09/2008 13:44

Hi girls

Thanks for all your lovely messages

Well I've been to the doc this morning and everything appears to be fine. He didn't even react when I told him that I'd had a normal AF since conceiving - it can't be that uncommon!

I've been given an EDD of 1st May!

He prescribed me folic acid tablets, and has given me the OK to fly which was a big relief as we're due to go on hols tomorrow. The midwife will be in touch soon about my first appointment.

So.... my DH and I and our little Welsh bean (!) are off to Crete tomorrow for a week. It's very early days yet so we're keeping everything crossed that the bean sticks.

And here's hoping for some more BFPs on here in September! Here's some baby dust for everyone:

summerbird · 01/09/2008 15:41

awwwww bubba thats fantastic news, i am soooooo happy for you, i feel quite emotional have a fantastic holiday and take care of that little welsh bean!! and make sure you stay with us on this thread as we are all graduating together!! in fact i am having to stop myself testing after your story!

i am in a really good mood today, even the crap office isnt getting me down.

saz007 · 01/09/2008 15:50

Hurray Bubba!! Enjoy your holidays!!

Summer step away from the test, you dont want to do that

I'm in a really good mood too! I think its the sunshine making a rare appearance Or it could be the fact that I'm leaving at 4 today - whoo and indeed hoo!!

Linwin · 01/09/2008 18:37

Heh BuppaP - sorry am a bit slow with my congratulations, you must be over the moon - so pleased for you! xxxx

DawnAS · 01/09/2008 19:51

Hello all,

Bubbap, that is great news. Make sure you do loads of relaxing on holiday!! You'll have a lovely time!!

Summer, don't test yet - just give it a little while longer.

So anyway, there was me thinking AF had arrived and the brown CM stopped last night, so just a couple of spots yesterday.
Now turned to yellow like it was with the first PG. Also boobs are really sore and IBS has got quite bad again (apparently if you suffer with IBS that can be made worse as the hormones get going, only initially though). Weeing a lot more frequently aswell. So, trying not to get my hopes up too much and certainly not intending to test for a looooooong time. If AF hasn't arrived by the time my friend gets back from holiday (beginning of October ) I will test then. Because then at least I'll know that I would be far past the time when I had the MC last time.

I'm sure that sounds completely mad to you guys, but I don't want to tempt fate. Which is why I'm still trying to write these symptoms off as merely the start of a horrid AF!! Plus I don't really drink, I don't smoke, I cut out caffeine when I last got PG, I eat healthily and I take folic acid, so even if I don't know one way or the other, I won't be doing "anything" (don't even want to say the word... ) any harm.

I'm hoping that being busy at work and looking for a house will keep my mind off of it all aswell!!

Besides, I'll probably be eating all my words again in a few days when AF arrives and the brown CM will just have been the weight of the mammoth AF (after MC) that caused some stuff to shift!

So, book-club ladies, doesn't seem to be much movement on the other thread. Are we up for reading another book? I started a mammoth one yesterday that my Doggy and Kitty bought me for my birthday in June (DH insists that they chose it!!), it's massive and I don't know how I'll get through it. Can't even remember what it's called - oops!!

Hope everyone is Ok today.

xxx

Babydust for all of us!!

Vix67 · 01/09/2008 21:18

Bubbap that's great news!! Aaw u will hav a lovely relaxing holiday and what brilliant news to send you off with!!

Dawn how does the book club work??

Summer how long is your cycle usually??

to everyone xx

summerbird · 01/09/2008 21:57

Hey guys dont get too excited - i am only on CD4, i was just getting bubbaps vibes as she tested a week after AF. I wouldnt dare test as DH would go mad, and i also really want to do it when i am late. My cycles are never longer than 28 days, on average i am usually 26 days. The last two months i got her exactly 14DPO and i am OVing a little early,

Dawn i really do applaud your strength, i think you are right to wait another month as this could be one of two things, either your body is settling down after July or (fingers crossed) it could be another sign. stick with it hun, you will be fine

My AF finished today and DH is ready and raring for BDing but i really cant be bothered tonight to be fair he knows i am usually not up for it on the first day as am usually knackered and a bit 'dried out' (sorry TMI - but does anyone else ever feel like that?)

Praps i shall just give him a beer and let him watch Match of the Day from last night??!!

I might join your book club this time round, i am three quarters of the way through 'East of the Sun' by Julia Gregson, i would recommend it actually as it is not the Chick Lit i thought it would be, it is really quite gritty in parts and rather addictive!

Nighty night everyone x

bluestarlavender · 02/09/2008 10:46

Hi Everyone,

I'm back! A big hello to all the newcomers to the thread!

Congratulations to BubbaP! Great news and have a good holiday!

There's been too much for me to catch up on, but Dawn - sounds positive for you and I'm definitely up for another book!

On CD11 today, can't quite believe it's that already...DH and I were completely chilled on our holiday. It was nice to get away from TTC to be honest. Singapore was actually very easy from the lack of visible PG women. Here in the UK I see bumps and newborns everywhere, but not at all in Singapore. I actually wondered where they all go, or whther they are all so tiny that the bump doesn't show til later. Anyhow, I also had my little 11 month niece to play with for a week! She's such a little cutie. Of course I got the family questioning when DH and I were going to have one, which is very annoying and a bit upsetting, but there you go.

More soon,

BSL x

welcome back BSL glad you had a fab holiday, i know what you mean about time whizzing by, it is good that you had a distraction away from TTC, i feel that i am getting a bit obsessed with it now and need to calm down, i am turning into the TTCer i didnt want to be (CD's and DPO's in my diary).

it is funny but after what i said last night (about not being bothered about BD), we snuggled up in bed and i suddenly felt up for it, my DH couldnt believe his luck, so on the first day after AF finishes, the summerbirds are right at it!!

start as we mean to go on!!!

DawnAS · 02/09/2008 12:00

Jolly good effort Summerbird, very proud of you!!

BSL, we missed you - although I don't know why I'm saying that (other than I did miss you obviously!), but I haven't really been on here for the last couple of weeks either.

Vix, sorry, forgot to answer your question about the Bookclub. Basically a few of us on here love reading and so decided to start an online book-club as there's a section for them here on Mumsnet. We all agreed to go and buy the same book and then post our views on it. We did "Private Lives of Pippa Lee" last month and it's time we thought of a new one!! Come and join in if you're interested!!

Any suggestions anyone and then we'll jump back to the other thread to discuss?!

xxx

saz007 · 02/09/2008 12:19

Welcome back BSL glad you enjoyed your holidays!

Summerbird good on you!!
I know what you mean about becoming obsessed with TTC, I felt like it was happening to me last month (altho it was only cycle 1 so I think I was being slightly optimistic and premature!). I felt really really disappointed when I got my BFN too, I think that's what made me realise I had to calm myself down. I'm trying my best not to this month....but I do still have the CDs and BD dates down in my diary - oops!

I missed out on last month's book, but I'm up for this one Dawn. Are we sticking with the Richard and Judy suggestions?
