Grapefruit juice WORKS. Seriously. Although I don't know about temping; I keep waking up an hour before I usually do, taking my temperature, wondering if I should wait until 7am, then wonder if I moved around too much finding the thermometer, then take it again at 7.15am and wonder if it's 'right' and which one is 'better' - is appalling to be trying to cheat at temperature charts, for God's sake. DH has taken to asking me 'how my temperature is?' each morning, as if I'm likely to say, it's up to 43 degrees, and that means I'm definitely cooking a baby in here. I know all the books say not to tell your DH the details about your temping/baby-making skullduggery, but to be honest, I think he's actually more excited about the science-projectiness about temp charts than he is about limitless BDing. I haven't mentioned cervical positions or anything. I bet I'd come home to find he'd bought some kind of microscope.

Dawn- I am still holding out, I have 4 HPTs now!! 2 FR and 2 Digital!!! Want to test tom morning but I dont really know what I expect the outcome to be. I had a really high temp this morning but I have been having really bad af pains and a backache. If I am pregnant I am worried something is not as it should be because my (.)(.) are less painful than they were.

oo wildfig we are on roughly the same cycle, we might even synch as my 14 DPO will be 3 days early...

am eagerly awaiting our preseed and free clearblue monitor, i love mumsnet for the freebies!

BSL hope you are quaffing the champagne now as we speak - la-di-daaaaaa

hello to everyone else (summerbird waves madly at everyone) i am off for some quality time with DH mind you i bet we dont as i am the same as BSL in that we are usually so knackered after OV day!

wildfig · 22/08/2008 20:28

bluestarlavender · 22/08/2008 22:08

Hi guys,

At the airport and waiting for our flight. We got delayed a bit, as a passenger on the incoming flight was seriously ill and they had to divert to Dubai!!!

Anyhow, I wanted to ask Summerbird how you got the free clearblue monitor!! I want one!!

We've been drinking wine in the lounge and had our champagne, without oysters unfortunately as the seafood bar had run out!! Grrr!

Should be off to the gate in about 25 mins...so I'm gonna say good luck to Hever for tomorrow's testing!

fairywing · 23/08/2008 08:40

Hi again everyone. Well this morning theres more EWCM so perhaps i didn't ovulate when i thought i had. Unfortunately DH hasn't been in the mood for any bding for the last couple of days and i'm not going to push it at this early stage so i guess things aren't likely to happen for us this month. I will try seducing him later but i think the last couple of days are when we should have been getting busy aren't they. Oh well never mind i guess the first month would be pretty good going really and there is still a slim chance...

Good luck to Hever
and good vibes for everyone else

Morning everyone! I am putting myself at Cycle 1 as we didn't actually "try" last month. I hope thats not cheating!!

My mum has left this afternoon, though from the looks of the weather here she will be delayed!

I have all my clothes and stuff out ready to pack for our vacation tomorrow! I'm very excited! Its supposed to be 40 degrees in Muscat at the minute! And bright blue skies!! How lovely!!

DP is at a conference all day so I am sitting on the PC relaxing and listening to Frank Sinatra. Bliss

BSL Hvae a great holiday! I am sure you will be able to connect in Singapore we never usually have a problem!

fairywing · 23/08/2008 09:38

ok so i'm confused again. According to something i just read women in their 20's can have EWCM for up to 5 days before ovulating and these are the best days to TTC. I thought it was just for one day and that was when you were ovulating so it was best to bd in the run upto this for best chance but was still possible on the day of ovulating. So in that case we are still in the running if we make the most of this BH weekend. Oh it really is ups and downs this TTC, i can't get my head around it all!

summerbird · 23/08/2008 10:45

errrr right yes i am a bit 'fick' it was a free PG test not a monitor - calm down ladies, no calm down stop demanding free monitors from mumsnet

i know nothing about EWCM as i get it anyway, like all the time, i tried to get it sorted out at the hospital (took 5 years of nagging my GP) but they didnt make much of it, just said i had to live with it. So when i see you all getting excited about getting EWCM (and actually trying grapefruit juice to bring it on) on here i just think how lucky you are to actually WANT to have it. Sorry that was a bit of a whinge wasnt it? now onto exciting things....

MY PRESEED HAS JUST ARRIVED - WOOOOO HOOOOOO! bring it on baby!

have a good day ladies!

makingafamily · 23/08/2008 11:59

Morning Ladies

Well although i had no positive OPK's and the ClearBlue monitor was saying nothing and no EWCM after some advice from you wonderful mumsnetters thought we'd get the boys ahem round before they headed to see Madge so i guess our TTC journey officially started last night WOW

Feeling really calm but also really excited this morning if that makes any sense and on a positive note this morning got a high (not a peak) reading on the ClearBlue (still no +OPK's or EWCM) So am really pleased we yoghurt potted yesterday

Oh Summer, i'm jealous, i'm gonna order some preseed now. What site did you use??

Hever i've got everything crossed for you this morning

Vix you should be able to get a ClearBlue Monitor and testing sticks for about £70 on ebay. Its where i got mine

bluestarlavender · 23/08/2008 17:39

Grrr!! Just typed out a whole long message on my BB (blackberry) and it's not posted and I've lost it.

Okay recap!

Hever - congratulations, hun!! Really pleased for you! ())

Unfortunately I'm moving on to cycle 3. AF started as we arrived in Singapore. Dunno what to say right now. I'm gutted and have no idea what we did wrong last cycle. But I know I have to get over it and move on to this new cycle.

Anyhow, having trouble on the bb, so will try to post and catch up when I can

Hugs and waves to everyone.

wildfig · 23/08/2008 17:48

Congratulations, Hever! That's wonderful weekend news! Fingers crossed for loads more May babies...

I have had a seriously yakky taste in the back of my mouth for two days now, and I was so knackered driving back to London from my parents that I had to stop for a 30 minute kip at Norton Canes service station. I'd like to think these were Symptoms, but sadly it's more likely a reaction to three days' of serious eating and the sleep-inducing sight of the M6 backed up with caravans headed for the Lake District.

Ooh, MAF, imagine Madge presiding over your yoghurt pot like a great fertility goddess! What more could you want?! Exciting!

wildfig · 23/08/2008 17:53

PS Crossed posts: so sorry, BSL . Have a fabulous time in Singapore with lots of champagne and oysters and blue cheese and rare steak.

summerbird · 23/08/2008 18:25

oh poor you BSL but please dont let it spoil your hols, have a fabulous time in singapore - i am a touch as it is supposed to be beautiful..

HEVERHONEY wooooo hoooooo!!! we all secretly knew you would be ok, you were right to be cautious but WAY HAYYYY fantastic, as Bubba said, do stay on this thread - and that goes for you too flirty

i have had a really good day, DH and I went to meet some friends for lunch who came up from London to stay in the Peak district this weekend, however i kind of had a wobbly as they started making comments about 'all of their friends wanting to get sprogged up' etc and i just cut in with 'do you realise you are basically enquiring into your friends sex lives - ie that is akin to us asking you guys how often you have sex'

All i will say is that i killed the conversation flat.........

other than that we had a lovely time!!!

heverhoney1 · 23/08/2008 20:13

Thanks everyone!!

Bluestar - grr for the evil witch!!! But Take the hol as a great sign. DP and I went abroad together for the first time in 5 years Last month and AF arived on the first day too!! So get BDing as soon as you can. And please dont think you did anything wrong! I swear its luck of the draw!!!

heylottie · 23/08/2008 21:27

Long time lurker, first time poster, do you mind if I join your friendly gang?

DP and I married after five years together this April. We 'half heartedly' started ttc last October, and properly started in March. So far, no joy!

And I have to say - and am ashamed to admit - I am actually surprised that I am not pg yet! I don't know why - complacent in the extreme - but I always 'assumed' that I would fall preggers as soon I wanted. This despite my age (36), a history of fibroids, and a gynae telline me to 'get a bloody move on' about six years ago. "What are you waiting for?' she said (yes, a woman). 'A golden palace to put your baby in?' Um no, a boyfriend would have been nice at the time.

Well Mother Nature has other ideas, and I think I may be in for the long haul. I suspect that I am not ovulating regularly - I use the OP kits but NEVER get the strong second line - and I don't notice EWCM regularly either. I may start the ball rolling with a trip to the docs.

AF arrived today - three days late, I am NEVER late usually - what a bitch to raise and dash hopes like that - so here we go again!

Oh well. That's enough info for now. This thread seems quite a lucky one which is great!!

heverhoney1 · 23/08/2008 23:23

hey lottie!! LOOOOVVVVEEE the name! Welcome.

I may have got my much wished for BFP but I am going nowhere guys. You lot have provided me with so much, very needed, support and I think I would have gone even more mental without it!

I suppose I should tell you all a bit of my back storey now its not so painful.

The bit that still is painful - My sister has fertility problems and has not been able to concieve for over 10 years - They are now adopting which is FANTASTIC as they are going to make GREAT parents!

I was told a few years ago that her fertility problems may have been hereditry so I stopped taking the pill so I could go for tests (blood supposed to be taken CD1-3) except my period didnt show for 18 months and then only sporadically. My GP referred me for an ultrasound to check for PCOS, which came back clear but still no regular cycle.

I have been obsessed with trying for children for years which added to some relationship problems as I used to go on and on and on!!! After lots of much needed talking we got our relationship back on track and it was DPs idea to start trying in the end.

So basically I just wanted to say, although I got my BFP rather quickly. I do understand what the worry about fertility is like and the stress it puts on people. And to give a bit of hope! none of my history or signs said I should concieve quickly, if at all, and if it can happen for me there is def hope!!

lots of VERY lucky baby dust for everyone, you all deserve it!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Bonifacio · 24/08/2008 03:31

WOW hever what amazing news!! Congratulations!! I know what you mean about the worry for fertility, my mum has had so many problems and has really made me think that I will too, she is always saying "ohhh I just hope I haven't passed you on my problems, i'm so sorry if I have" I'm starting to get the feeling she's not very supportive

BSL So sorry AF arrived, I'm sure your not doing anything wrong, Mother nature must be Father nature, only a man could raise and dash hopes like that! I hope you still have an amazing holiday and enjoy doing all the things you won't be able to do when you do get PG!!

Heylottie HI! Welcome to the thread!! Good luck with ttc! I know exactly what you mean about expecting it to happen straight away! I will be a bit gutted if it doesn't for me!!

Hello everyone else!! I am just packing for our vacation to Oman!! Very excited! Especially as its 32 degrees there and NOT raining!! woohoo!!

By the way, as I am not PG yet but should be ovulating over the few days do you think it would be wise to take my diazepam for my flight like I normally do?? I will be a nervous wreck if not!!

summerbird · 24/08/2008 11:17

hi there heylottie and welcome! you and i are in a similar situation, i am 35 and started TTC in March and i too was surprised it didnt happen straight away, but then i hovered over a few threads on MN and realised that it aint as simple as that. I had a laporoscopy in July due to severe period pains (passed out at work in March..) and they found a touch of Endo and some polyps whch they removed. The gynae also thinks my left tube might be blocked although through all this she said i should not have any probs conceiving.

Anyway - stick with us as everyone is uber supportive and look out for eachother!

bonifacio on the contrary as an objective observer i think your mum sounds like she IS being supportive, i dont know what tone she used when she said that to you but to me it sounds like she is worried that she has passed on her fertility issues to you. maybe you should chat to her more about it, maybe she could give you advice about how she went about things etc, just a thought..... i am sure she is concerned hun. With regard to your tablets, i dont know about diazepam but would read the leaflet and maybe look on tinternet, if you are not PG then you should be ok.

BSL you havent done anything wrong, as we say it is the luck of the draw, you enjoy your hols

Happy Sunday to everyone else!!!!
