Hurray Yarnie !!! fabulous news I knew it'd be ok but that doesn't stop you worrying, how reassuring for you to get a sneak preview of your beany
Kate so sorry Af arrived, but glad you are looking on the bright side. I agree with Ei 10 days is the shorter end of normal for LP from my investigations when we were CBs
Sparkly you are quite the cultured young lady of late hope feeling dodgy is a symptom.
Fruity can't wait to hear your scan news tomorrow

cricri · 30/07/2008 16:58

Yarnie That's great news I'm so relieved for you. Did you get a picture?
Sparkly Hope your symptoms are due to a BFP in the offing rather than anything more sinister - fingers crossed for you
Emmsy Pleased you're feeling better. Guess it was just one of those weird pg-related things. Don't overdo it with the packing and hope the sunburn eases soon - it's so painful isn't it? Any chance of getting to a pharmacy to see if they can give you something to help?
Scully Hope your DD enjoyed her healthy breakfast at school - sounds lovely Hope everybody else is OK.

teeheelaydee · 30/07/2008 17:55

Just logged on to check how Yarnie's scan went - am so relieved for you!! FANTASTIC news!

Sorry to be so me-me-me but am getting quite worried about having a short LP now... Does anyone have any tips for improving it apart from vit B6 which I'm apparently already having plenty of? Also apparently the spotting the day before AF arrived could indicate low progesterone levels... . Not intending to ttc this month but am just worried that when we go for our naturopathic review at the beginning of sept they'll say we ought to wait another 6 months or something hideous...
Also quite apprehensive about the scan I have on Friday my consultant has booked... just routine, I'm not really expecting it to show any problems, but it'll be back at the unit where Thomas was born and where I've been scanned so many times before, the last time being a very painful internal a little over 12 hours after he was born... And really pleasantly, as AF has shown up early, I'll be bleeding this time too... I know the hospital don't care about AF, and I don't want to cancel the scan, it just sometimes feels like whatever I have to do there's always something there to make it harder .
But one of my good friends is going to come with me, so hopefully that will help take my mind off things. Unfortunately DH is off on ANOTHER stag do this weekend, so I'll be by myself when I get back... though probably accompanied by wine and MN!
Sorry for the moan

Emmsy1 · 31/07/2008 07:25

Kate don't really know much about short luteal phases but have found this
you probably know all this anyway as you are such a bright lady Did you have trouble TTC Thomas? mibbes was always spotting before AF and I know sparkly has started this over the last few months, maybe they will be able to give you a little advice. I know why you feel apprehensive about your scan, just to be in the same building were Thomas was born is going to bring back a lot of painful memories, the memories will be with you forever for the pain will ease. I'm sorry your DP won't be with you this Friday, but at least you do have a good friend to go with. Is she going to stay over for the night? I know your bound to feel negative when it comes to what you will be told but I'm sure that thing's will be ok, Thomas had a rare condition didn't he? Sorry about being vague about his condition, I wasn't an avid member of the avenger thread when you were going through all this heartache. I will be thinking of you, lots of love Deb (emmsy)xx

kate2179 · 31/07/2008 08:11

Thanks Emmsy (feel very honoured to know your real name ). We had no trouble ttc Thomas, I fell on the first month. I would say I was very lucky, but that doesn't seem quite right given what happened next.
This month I think I ov'd on CD18 or 19 but it turned out to be a 28 day cycle with spotting the day before...
I'm going to ask my friend is she's free to stick around after the scan, but tbh she probably isn't, I've never known anyone with such a hectic social life...
Thomas had a chromosome disorder called triploidy which is (generally) one of the 'just bad luck' disorders as opposed to one influenced by any characteristics of the parents. I think (though the hospital have never been very clear) that he had the type caused by a problem in a very early (about 4wks) cell division, so more or less right from the start he was never going to make it, despite all those positive scans ... Sorry to be such a miserable cow! xx

Sparkly08 · 31/07/2008 09:27

Hi all,
Feeling much better today.
Mibbes and Cricri Thanks for hoping for me. Not sure this is going to be my month either..
Fruity What time is your scan?
Piper Have you been testing yet missy? Any news?
Ei How is temp today?
Kate I don't know much about LP either but I do have some pre-AF spotting which isn't always a problem. I sometimes have 2/3 days of this but don't count the start of AF until the red comes in. It makes me so sad to read of your heartache. I had a friend who lost her baby at 21 weeks due to a rare disorder. She has since gone on to have a beautiful little girl and it will happen for you as well. We'll all be holding your hand at the scan (it might be a bit of a squeeze ). Please come here and chat whenever you need to. We're always here to listen. Lots of love xxx

kate your not being a miserable cow! Your being a 'normal' person, it's ok to express your feelings, you can't be tough all the time lady, life isn't that easy! were here for you, just as you are always 'there' for others xxx

scully · 31/07/2008 11:45

Great news the scan went well Yarnie
Hope your scan goes ok too, Kate, and you can ttc whenever you feel ready.
dd1's breaky went well, lots of fun actually.
Aloe vera is good for sunburn Emmsy, especially if you can get hold of an actual plant and use that.
You wouldn't be symptom spotting would you Sparkly

Sparkly08 · 31/07/2008 12:36

Scully Me, symptom spotting? Never!! Sore boobs have gone away now and no other symptoms to report. You?

mibbes · 31/07/2008 13:49

Kate you sounds exactly like me - I convinced myself I had every TTC issue going before I fell PG ! It is the curse of being too well informed. I used to get spotting for 5-6 days before AF came so was convinced had low progesterone (the Vit B6 helps keeps these levels high) and I kept taking it for several weeks after BFP (convinced that as soon as I stopped the levels would fall and I'd MC paranoid ? me ..?!) Even if you did have low progesterone there are creams and tablets that can help but I really doubt this is an issue. The short LP is also something not to worry about too much - your body will be sorting itself out, just keep an eye on it and see if it continues to be on the short side of normal - if so mention it to your consultant/GP. You also had a surprise PG last year didn't you ? (that sadly ended in MC) It strikes me that you and your DH are highly unlikely to have problems conceiving hun - chin up xx

teeheelaydee · 31/07/2008 14:34

Kate You sound really fed up and you have no need to apoligise for that- you have had a really rough ride and are bound to be apprehensive about going back to some of the places you were when you lost Thomas.
This ttc business seems to have so many things that could be wrong but there seems to be so much unknown as well.
I agree with Mibbes I was convinced that there was something wrong with me and there may be and I just don't know yet, but as time has gone on I am really starting to believe that we have just been incrediably unlucky and surely that can change - and when hospitals are involved again I think it is totally natural to think the worst. I'm sure it will be fine - you are young, healthy and doing everything you can to make sure you are ready to conceive so I would say your chances are good.
Lots of luck for tomorrow, we will all be sending you lots of positive and comforting thoughts. We are holding your hand.
Take it easy

Emmsy1 · 31/07/2008 16:18

THLD Thought I would mention this. When I had my 2nd consec M/C back in September, and had just had it confirmed at the EPU, one of the midwives told me that a Dr Ellard prescribes his recurrent M/C's lady's with a higher dose of Folic acid, and that he had been researching M/C for some time. I had no problem getting 5MG on prescription from my doctor. You can only buy micrograms over the counter, you may already be on a higher dose, but thought it was worth mentioning. (Dr Ellard works at Arrowe Park Hospital on the Wirral)

Emmsy1 · 31/07/2008 16:19

fruity hope your scan goes ok, it is tomorrow isn't it?

teeheelaydee · 31/07/2008 16:43

Thanks Emmsy - I will give my doctor a call and see if he can prescribe, I guess if it can't do harm which I don't think it can it's worth a try. I was planning on doing the B6 thing too.

Actually I wondered which vitamins/supplements the ttc ladies are taking as was checking out Boots 3 for 2 yesterday. Any recommendation ladies?

Sparkly08 · 31/07/2008 18:09

I take pregnancycare when I remember to but that's all. DP takes zinc too. Never really sure what I should be taking so I'm glad you asked that.

FruitynNutty · 31/07/2008 18:40

Afternoon girls

I had my scan this morning and all seems fine. Baby measures 8mm which makes me 6weeks+4days today.
I put the scan pic on my profile for you to have a nose at. Just looks like a bundle of cells at the moment. The bubble on the left is the yolk sac

MollieMooma · 31/07/2008 20:35

Fruity Glad all went well
Kate Hope your feeling a little better, my LP was only 10 days too on average, so there is hope
TeeHee Have you met with your Mum yet?

Hope everyone else is OK? Had another couple of bad days of MS so not been on much. Feel really fed up but too scared to say that as I just feel I should be grateful!

mibbes · 31/07/2008 21:12

Great news Fruity, lovely pic

OOh vitamins are my fave subject, I took loads when ttc
Vit E - promotes healthy ovulation
Vit C - antioxidant
Vit B6 - keep progesterone levels high to help increase LP
Flaxseed Oil - just good for you !
Zinc - most people are deficient in this and it is essential when ttc
Pregnacare Plus - includes an Omega 3 supplement.
Hmm I think that was it - I'll check my drawer later and let you know if I missed any..
oh - Vit B Complex and helps absorption of VitB6 !
Yes, I did rattle when I walked !!

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 31/07/2008 22:27

Ei congrats on getting the job you went for!xx (sunburn doesn't hurt much now, just looks horrid)
THLD think Mibbes and sparkly covered all the vitamins, although like sparkly I did insist on DH taking Zinc
Yarnie is every thing ok with you hun?
kate wishing you well today, sending you some virtual hugs

Yarnie · 01/08/2008 08:29

Ei What brilliant news about your job! Will it mean a big change for you?

Fruity So glad your scan went well! Your pip looks much like mine did! Shame I didn't get a pic to keep

TeeHee Any developments with your mum?

Sparkly Fingers crossed that your symptoms are pg symptoms! When is AF due?

Kate Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit down and frustrated. I know that quite a few ladies have a short LP on MN and some seem to have had some success in lengthening it. It might be worth starting a thread about it. Will you see your consultant at or after the scan? If so, why don't you try and write down some questions for her/him?

I was feeling a bit nauseated yesterday, stuck in the dark room with no air con and not enough breaks. I don't know whether it's MS or just the unpleasant working conditions. I'll be glad when it's over.

Poor DF is having his wisdom teeth removed today under sedation. I have to leave the course early to pick him up. I've missed so much of the course .

How is everyone else feeling this morning?
