New thread as requested (panic, panic) - hope the name will do?

BSL how the hell did we cope? I honestly don't know except for:

  1. Making sure we had lots of other positive things to do/focus on - mainly work related which, interestingly, is paying off now.
  2. Toughening up a bit; smiling in the face of it all - trying not to worry until there's something to worry about as our bodies are v clever and don't like getting PG when we are worried/down.
  3. Setting a date for getting ourselves refereed to a fertility clinic as the BFN months started stacking up. It took the pressure off as well as adding healthy pressure if that makes sense.
  4. Realizing that if 100 healthy couples TTC for one year, by the end of that year 80 of them will have succeeded - it just takes time sometimes. Lots of hugs & positive vibes to you. xx

PS: I'm not showing bump-wise but we can both definitely feel it! Hope everyone's OK. xx

Bsl - sorry about your bfn and please keep your chin up!

I'm not sure how I coped really if I am honest. Made sure that we were together as a couple on the steps that we were taking e.g cutting down on alcohol, upping the smoothie/grapefruit intake/ zinc tablets, losing weight etc
Keeping focussed on something else - e.g booking a holiday.
Taking the step to go for investigations
Having a damn good cry when the bfn came each month, and also when friends got their bfp's.

It is so hard I know but you will get there and it is so worth it you will forget all the heartache that it has taken to get you there.
xx

Hi Bellie and Mandy,

Thanks! Your messages made me cry! (Not taking that as a symptom, though!)

It's good advice and I need to toughen up and realise TTC is down to luck and I can't micro-manage it! I'm 35 next month, so we have discussed referral dates and timing already.

Just also want to add, I admire you guys so much and realise how hard it must have been! I'm glad you both think it was worth it!

Hi ladies

Had another busy day here. Went to a massive indoor soft play thingy with my sis and her dc. it was really fun, and it's only 5 mins from my house. (Mental note to return there with my own dc in a year or so!) They have gone back to Wales now so feeling a little as I miss them lots.

MJIM - sorry your PITA is no better. I really feel for you. Have you taken anything or got some cream? I think I possibly will be one of those women who gets them also, as at the moment all I can eat basically is milk, toast and mullerice. Not managing much in the way of fruit or veg, so things are def slowing down! Urgh!

BSL - please don't give up hope! I feel your pain, I really do. I honestly think there is a very good chance you are pg still, it's far to early! When we ttc the 1st baby, it took 4 months, which seemed like ages. Every month it does hurt, and sometimes you just have to accept that you are upset, and that's OK, and have a cry or whatever you need. Once I realised that, it felt a bit better. I also tried to keep the stats in mind (I am a scientist after all!) and remember that even if you have sex at the perfect time, and do everything right, you still only have a 1 in 4 chance! This helped take the pressure off us, it might help for you, not sure! The 3rd month was the worst for us, we were both absolutely convinced we were pg, AF was 2 days late, and I was just about to test when she arrived. The guys on here will remember I was just distraught! Went AWOL for a week, then got over it and hey presto the following month bingo! I think what Mandy put about knowing that within a year it is very likely to have happened, is good advice also.

Waves to BB and HC - hope you are both enjoying your holidays and are prepared for some love action on your return! Stay positive girls - bonkers will work it's magic soon for you both xxx

Flirty/detox - has it sunk in yet? Have you told anyone? DP says congrats to the pair of you as well (he always asks for MN news!)Keep us posted on how you are feeling, and fingers crossed you don't feel as sick as me!

ceebee74 · 19/08/2008 19:46

Evening ladies

Sorry I haven't been a very frequent visitor here recently - I promise to try harder

BSL - sorry about your BFN but it is too early as you well know. Don't give up hope! As for coping, I find the disappointment soon disappears as you start to count towards OV again etc - I used to find the whole cycle was a rollercoaster so the downs are soon followed by ups iyswim.

MJIM - sorry about your PITA too - I really hope it clears itself up soon for you.

Hi to everyone else

Well, managed to sort out my double buggy dilemma at last - yeah! A colleague is moving and having a cleaarout and she told me she had a Phil & Ted buggy with a carrycot, doubles kit and raincover going spare - had a look at it today and it is in reasonable condition so I got the lot for £150 - am really chuffed with it as I can look like a real 'yummy mummy' now

Also, having promised to be on more, I am on a course at work for the next 3 days (9-5) plus 90 minutes homework each evening so VERY intensive and leaving me no time to MN - how dare they?? Good job it is a subject I am really interested in so I am actually really looking forward to it.

Baby is fine - not much to report tbh. He is definitely not much of a wriggler tbh but as long as I can feel something occasionally, I am trying not to worry about it. Am hoping it might bode well for a lovely calm little boy

MrsPuddleduck · 20/08/2008 09:22

Morning all

BSL - glad you are feeling a litte more positive.

HC - hope the weather is a bit better today.

MJIM - hope the appointment goes will.

CE - sorry that you can't eat much DH ordered a takeaway on Sat night and decided to have a ham and pinneapple pizza as an 'extra' - it was one of the the only things I could eat for the first 12 weeks with DS2 and I actually looked at the pizza and gagged! LOL - it will get better!

Ceebee - I love my Phil and Ted's - I use it as a single now that DS1 doesn't need to go in it - I just have a buggy in the car for emergencies.

Daisy - good luck today

Knax - LOL at your 'hormones' - I cried last night when Wellhard died on Eastenders - if that's not a sign I think I'm for the lethal injection myself LOL!

Hi to everyone else!

Mandy73 · 20/08/2008 10:06

BSL not to worry - I'm 35 today!

I hope everyone's well. Off to midwife for blood test to be analysed before nuchal scan is Sept.

Morning all

Happy birthday Mandy!!!!!!! Hope you have a fab day!

Daisyj - Good Luck for your scan today. I have everything crossed for you honey. Try to relax if you can til then. Please come back and tell us that all was well if you can to stop us worriers worrying!

HC - hope it's stopped raining for you! It has finally stopped here after 4 days constant!

BSL - hope you are ok today, and feeling a little more upbeat. Just remember what you are feeling is perfectly normal and understandable!

MJIM/ceebee - you sound very busy! Hope you're not overdoing it with beans in there!!!

Willmouse - LOL at your hormones making you cry! (and at the ham and pineapple pizza!)I have moved onto Shreddies this morning which I usually hate! !!!

8 weeks today and massively unchartered territory here . I get to meet the midwife tomorrow and I'm going to beg her for a scan! I'm still having worries/fears that bean has died so hoping she might agree to it. If I could have one before I go back to school in sept then I think it would really help ease my mind.

CE and Willmouse, thanks so much for the good luck wishes. Am peeing my pants, to be frank! CE - so good that you're 8 weeks, it feels like a real milestone, doesn't it?

My cousin said an interesting thing yesterday re early scans. She pointed out that these days 12 weeeks is a pretty arbitrary date to have a first scan, and dates from when ultrasound equipment was less sophisticated, and you really couldn't seem much before then. She also pointed out that if something else was going on with your body/health, you probably wouldn't sit around for at least two months waiting before you went to get it checked out. So basically having an early scan is a pretty sensible thing to do to put your mind at rest

Mandy - happy birthday!

BSL - hang in there, hon. We spent a lot of time talking about adoption, as I was convinced after 10 months that we wouldn't be able to conceive. DH was about to get his sperm tested when I got pg the first time. Everyone else has given really good advice, so I don't have anything to add. Just wanted to say thinking of you, and hope it's your month this month. xx

Mandy73 · 20/08/2008 16:48

Bellie said ?Having a damn good cry when the bfn came each month, and also when friends got their bfp's.?
Well said - I forgot that one.

BSL big hugs, hope you?re feeling better today. Thank you!

Ceebee nice to see you. I bet you?ll be one Yummy Mama.

Willmouse pizzaaa... mmm... having it tonight as my b-day treat (I?m crying lots too ).

MJIM marvelling at your energy! What cake did you bake?

CE I really, really, really hope MW agrees to a reassurance scan. Just express your worries and fears in a rational way ? but don?t hold back on the feelings. They should know worrying is no good for you at all. Fingers crossed for you. x

HC Thanks! I sooo feel for you with the PILs (actually I just mis-typed that as PISs so sorry, Freudian slip) ? just don?t know what to say. What?s the worst thing about it all? Lack of privacy? Are they not very nice/respectful to you in general? Hmm, me thinks you have ample time to conceive before BB is over ? just not enough for you to know it...

DaisyJ thank you! Hope all went well today?

MW who took my blood for the nuchal screening today had to try 3 times (ouch). At one point she was going to try from my hand ? actually I was completely cool about it but she nearely cried, poor thing!

Hope DH comes home soon I want my b-day pizzaaaa! Hugs to everyone. xx

Hey guys,

Been a busy bee today! So that pretty much keeps me out of mischief!

Did a (little) bit of thinking and realised I've been expecting getting PG to happen straight away and have almost put my life on hold...so with that in mind, I went out and bought some new jeans. For the past few months I've not been buying clothes as I was worried I'd be expanding and would have no idea of post natal size! Dumb, huh!!

In addition, by way of celebrating AF's immenient arrival, I also invested today in a mooncup! AF hasn't arrived, but I thought at least I had something positive to look forward to if it did! One of the girls on the First timers thread has just got one and I thought I might give it a go!

Myjob - glad the MW appointment went well! It must be lovely to hear the heartbeat!! And yum yum to the cornflake cakes!! I love those!

CE - thanks for saying my up-and-down emotions are normal!! I feel like I'm losing the plot half the time! Congrats on 8 weeks!! And good luck with the MW tomorrow!

HC - Rah, the rain!! I'm sorry the weather's not been great! Where abouts are you?

Daisy - excited to hear about your scan went!!

To everyone else - Thanks for your words of wisdom and care! You guys are a big support...gonna stop now, as I'm blubbing all over the damn keyboard!

BSL x

HumphreysCorner · 20/08/2008 19:40

Lol bluestar-have avoided buying clothes then thought sod it, I'll slim into them again and bought things. Even bought a new raincoat yesterday but there is definitely room for a small baby. Don't think you'll need your mooncup. In Wales, right on the border near Chester. Very wet!!!

Am on the verge of murdering DD1.

Hi all

Hello, am still lurking but packing up the house ready for our epic move! We have lived here for 11 years so it's going to be hard saying some goodbyes. Pleas eput in a lin to the new thread so I can find you all.

Love to everyone

Sx

bluestarlavender · 20/08/2008 19:58

Hi HC,

Oh, sounds like a good place to be, apart from the rain! I was at Uni not too far from there...at Keele. Have you been up to anything good?? I went to Chester Zoo last year and also the sealife centre (forgotten where that it). What's your DD1 been up to to make you mad?? Sounds like you're having a true family holiday!!

If it's any concilation, it's pouring here in SE London!!

BSL x

daisyj · 21/08/2008 06:51

BSL - it's pouring through our ROOF here in SE London. But hoping finally to get this sorted, as DH had stern words with freeholder and they sent a really good guy around to have ANOTHER look!

Anyway, enough about roofs! Scan was brilliant! Saw really strong heartbeat, size spot on for edd, which is still 28 March, and he was even able to show us the brain structure, and we could clearly see both sides of the brain. Sooo exciting. DH and I on cloud nine. Feeling like I imagine most people do when they get BFP in the first place. I can't believe there's a HEART beating INSIDE me that's not mine!!!!

OK, I know this isn't a miracle, but it feels like it. Finally I can believe in this baby. I might get addicted to scans and turn up demanding one every week!

soosy Best of luck with the house move.

mjim - Glad all is well. I hope I'm as up and happy and healthy as you by that stage. Roll on your lovely October baby!

Bellie · 21/08/2008 08:56

Daisy - fantastic news about the heartbeat! Hopefully you will be able to rest a bit easier now! about your roof leaking though!

Soosy - besst of luck with the move - it must be hard after 11 years - I struggled last time we moved and we had only been there 4 years!

HC - are you still having fun in the rain though - getting nearing to john wayne time!

BSL - glad that you are feeling a little better about the whole ttc thing. Yes you are right it is so easy to put your life on hold - bizarrely enough once I took my life back off hold (it had been there for about a year) that's when things happened!

Mandy - hope you had a great birthay yesterday and enjoyed the pizza!

MJIM - glad that it went ok at the midwives - not many more to go now!

Ceebee - have fun with your work thing at no mn time though!

Being whisked off to a posh hotel for 2 days - dh has planned for our 10th Wedding anniversary - maybe he has been reading about saint Mr Myjob?

Hi ladies

Daisyj - so glad things have worked out for you. You must be so releived and happy. Hope it all goes well from here.

I am . I went to the midwife and told her about my worries. I said that I had been really sick and now it had stopped. Last night the stitch came back which is how the 1st MC started. I did a pg test this morning and it was really feint. She said she thinks there is only a 50:50 chance I am still pg . I am having a scan at EPU at 9am tomorrow. I just feel so sad and miserable. how can this be happening to me twice? I can't get hold of DP as he is at work
