I know what are the odds? (well actually about 20%) It must be the luck of this thread!

Playingthewaitinggame · 03/07/2008 09:18

Hmm, I suppose so, to what should I change...?

GruffaloSoldier · 03/07/2008 09:21

Congratulations Playing!!!

I hope I'm not too long behind you as I want you to be my mn hampshire baby buddy

Is your DH over the moon? Are you going to tell anyone in rl or going to keep it to yourself for a while?

glaskham · 03/07/2008 09:23

Ses15 · 03/07/2008 09:24

Hmmmm..... I don't know! Maybe I should have not suggested it as I'll always think of you as "Playing". Unless you can be Playingthe9monthwait or Playingtobecomeamum or NolongerPlayingbutpregnant or....

GruffaloSoldier · 03/07/2008 09:34

Yay for baby buddies

Love the name!

glaskham · 03/07/2008 09:37

fab!!

Playingthe9monthwait · 03/07/2008 09:37

Oh and DH stood their grinning like a loon then slowly the grin left his face and he said...

"I thought you told me there was only a 20% chance this month so it would probably take months? I was looking forward to months of sex!"

It was then followed by "I can't wait to tell everyone at work" and "right we can go shopping for baby stuff this weekend then"

Re telling people. Difficult, not sure. I have a couple of close mates who know we're trying so I will tell them. Not sure abotu everyone else. Will be really hard to hide it, my sis lives in a pub and we all go there several times a week and everyone knows me. They'll all notice if I don't drink. Could probably string it out for a week or so but not much longer.

happynappies · 03/07/2008 09:45

Ses15 · 03/07/2008 09:45

GYo · 03/07/2008 09:56

Wow Playing congratulations! Fab news. I hope you are still grinning

GYo · 03/07/2008 09:57

hi all

where do the odds of 20% chance of BFP on first try come from?

curious now....

Playingthe9monthwait · 03/07/2008 10:02

Oh yes, I can't get the grin off my face!

Will have to work out how the hell I'm gonna keep it quiet for a bit. I ordered a soft drink in the pub last night and got "a soft drink, are you feeling ill" from the bar staff. This could be trickier than I thought. Oh well, its a nice dilema to have!

Playingthe9monthwait · 03/07/2008 10:04

This is from the t'internet...

"It's difficult to say exactly how long it will take to get pregnant. However, these general statistics may give you an idea of how long it will take.

Normally fertile couples have a 20 to 30 per cent chance of getting pregnant each cycle. About 84 per cent of couples in the general population will conceive within one year if they have unprotected, regular sex, and half of the remainder will conceive naturally within the following year, if they keep trying.

This means that while some couples will get pregnant in the first month of trying, for other couples it may take at a couple of years before they conceive. Even then, some healthy couples can take even longer to get pregnant. "

moosma · 03/07/2008 10:19

Hello all, just popped in to see what's happening and I'm greeted with a BFP! Congratulations Playing!!!!

Soooo, what else have I missed???

Playingthe9monthwait · 03/07/2008 10:23

Hi Moos. How are you? Not much has been going on apart from general chat I think. Had a long weekend myself and might have misssed something.

GYo · 03/07/2008 10:23

Thanks Playing. Really interesting. Im surprised its that low. I suppose it takes into account those who just have look at partner in order to conceive and those who have issues.

So what happens now Playing- do you see a midwife?

glaskham · 03/07/2008 10:23

god, just caught up!! that took a while!!

I'm day 17 of 27/28day cycle will defo be testing on the 11th (CD25)...

Been fairly ill with my tonsils and headaches over the weekend and till yesterday... DH took tuesday off to have the kids for me, and i was in bed all day recovering, then yesterday was his day off so i had a lie in then a nap while DS was at nursery, then DH took me out for a meal and we went to see Hancock at the pics, thats twice at the pics in less than a week!! But both good films!!

Playingthe9monthwait · 03/07/2008 10:27

Sorry your feeling poorly Glask. Bring on another BFP is all I say .

No idea at all what happens now actually, if all goes well this will be dc1 for me. Spose I phone the docs and ask if I need to see a gp or midwife. Don't know if I should leave it for a week or two first. What does everyone think?

glaskham · 03/07/2008 10:32

I plan to leave it about 2 weeks after any BFP's till i phone the GP and make an app... but as itsyour 1st do what you feel is best, if you'd feel more reassured seeing them earlier then you do that!!

glaskham · 03/07/2008 10:33

Well I got pos OV tests on Monday and Tuesday so even though i was ill i was seducing DH to sleep with his poorly wife even though he didn't want to!! I aint letting a bit of sore tonsils and headache get in the way of a possible BFP!!

Playingthe9monthwait · 03/07/2008 10:51

Good girl Glask, I like your dedication!!!!

Part of me wants to wait but the other part of me thinks it might be useful to have on record that I am pg in case I have an early mc, so at least its documented. Not sure. Also of course if I go by the date of my last period and don't adjust for having a slightly longer cycle I am 5 weeks today not 4.
