Hi

Not really sure what I'm looking for here but if nothing else I'll use this as a diary of my feelings etc. I joined a chat years ago for my first pregnancy and am still friends with some of those lovely ladies so hoping to find some people who are on their TTC journey and we can share experiences l.

As the title suggests I'm 42, I have two beautiful children aged 7 and 9, we decided to try for another baby a year or so again, I needed to lose some weight so did that although I'm still overweight according to my BMI but you know how it is... I'm fairly average at a size 14-16. I still have very regular cycles and don't believe I'm anywhere near the menopause yet....

Anyways, I'm 9dpo I think, I don't do opk or anything like that, tried one month but didn't enjoy feeling obsessed over it and it didn't work anyway..I feel I know my body quite well and am aware of the signs of when I'm ovulating if I am. With our first child it took a good 2 years with one chemical pregnancy in that time before.ewe actually got our baby. With our second child...well we thought about trying and then I was pregnant... Amazing how that happens isn't it!?

So here I am, 9dpo and with virtually no discharge at all. 2 days ago I had a huge amount of white cm that was abit stretchy. I've had a headache on and off and been soooo unbelievably emotional. This isn't normal for me but we are going through quite a bit with our youngest and other normal life events so may be that I suppose. I've had sore breasts and I swear they are bigger if that is even possible!.maybe just very slight cramps over the past couple of days but that maybe only.when I'm thinking about it...

Anyone else at this stage and fancy a buddy to compare notes? I'd love to chat.

Perhaps I got my dates wrong... I'm hoping against hope lol. No AF yet and supposedly 12dpo but could be less. I use Flo app but I don't rely heavily o not and if I think I've ovulated I change it on the app but I would expect AF today or tomorrow if I'm right. Usually pretty regular but did have a short cycle the month before last which is unheard of for me only 25 days. That actually makes it much harder to work it all out.

I feel like I need to just lose some more weight but I did mounjaro and that's not recommended when TTC. I'm trying to balance my weight and my need to complete our family.

What is superovulation? Is it mainly diet and temping?

I can't help myself and did another test. Does anyone see anything on this? I think I have major line eye

I didn't use another frer although I do have some. I'm at work but I hate wasting those tests as they are so expensive!

BurningOutt · 22/02/2026 12:19

@FiB83 no superovulation is taking medication to stimulate your ovaries to produce more eggs - 3-4 per cycle instead of 1, and then an injection to trigger ovulation. It’s often used by people who have pcos and don’t ovulate. I do ovulate by myself but my doctor offers it because I need to time my medication precisely with ovulation.

I can’t see a line on your test - if you can bear to wait 24-48 hours before testing again I would do that.

FiB83 · 22/02/2026 12:25

I'll think in my head yeh I'll wait a bit and then I'll test anyway because they're there lol I edited the image a bit as I'm sure I could see something that wasn't showing well. Anyways I'll keep hoping and editing this picture lol! Until either I get a bfp or af arrives at least

@FiB83 had created a very similar thread but just came across urs, hope ye don’t mind me joining, im either 11 or 12 dpo today, trying for our second and turning 41 in a few weeks. I’m holding out hope but BFN this morning and just feeling so deflated. Dtd 6 times within a week around ovulation 😴 😅😵‍💫 so really thought we’d a good chance this month.

im awful for line eyes, I deff convince myself I see it! I do think I see something on ur first test, can’t see it on the edited one thou 🤷🏼‍♀️

does anyone else record or follow rhr for ttc?

Hey 👐🏼 glad you're joined in! What is rhr? I feel like I don't know anything anymore! Lol

I keep looking and looking convince myself I don't see it and then I see something haha. Torturing myself.

We will get there I'm sure! I didn't DTD anywhere near as much as you though! We have just done it around ovulation. I'm trying so hard not to stress but it's not easy!

@FiB83 well I thought we were doing it just around ovulation which is usually day 13/14 for me but looks like it was around day 17 this month so each day we were like right we better dtd again incase it’s tomorrow, we were shattered and haven’t dtd since 😂

RHR is resting heart rate, I generally seem to have a dip on or day after ovulation (confirm ov) and then steady increase over TWW, it drops then 2-3 days before af (if ur getting it). My watch records it so I jus keep an eye on it

Wow that's fascinating! I had never heard of that before but will be doing that this month if AF arrives for sure! Today I am having such a hey boobs and they look a little more veiny than usual... Not sure if that's a thing..I know the aching can be a sign but can also be a sign af is on the way as well.

Well, bucking the trend I can see a vvvvvfl on that one, and it's more obvious on the next one you posted.

Mind you, I thought there was a line on the previous one, too.

I'd be mildly hopeful. Are your BBTs staying high? That's always how I diagnosed pregnancy in myself.

Well I haven't been doing bbt..these are the time I wish I did though! I will no doubt rest again tomorrow and pray there's a really obvious bfp so I'm not let in limbo like this.

So for today 11/12dpo my symptoms are

Starving hungry, I want allll the food
Aching boobs (at the sides) and now this seems to have developed to itchy boobs... Definitely not my usual pms symptoms
Tired now but I have been at work 12 hours almost
Very small amounts of creamy cm but nothing major at all
Maybe some very mild cramps earlier this morning.

That's all for now lol

Very sad to say AF has arrived this morning so definitely not pregnant again..I'm going to try the soy isoflavones I think. And get some.teating done in the next couple of weeks.

How is everyone else.doing?

OP posts:
FlapJackered · 23/02/2026 10:19

I am sorry @FiB83its so disappointing. If you look up soy isoflavones on Mumsnet you will see there are a few threads with the dose and days you should do it on.

i am on 15dpo now! Where is my period?! So fed up. Has anyone else had a long luteal phase like this? Mine is normally only 12 days and I am so sure of my dates as I used opks, clearblue advance test, bbt and also my heart rate confirms it too.
Definitely not pregnant as I have taken two frers 12dpo and 14dpo. I just want to move on now!

I don't blame you for feeling fed up! Do you have any signs of is on her way though? I had a 35 days cycle a few months ago but I knew I hadn't ovulated when the app was telling me I had..I don't temp though so the app is very basic really

OP posts:
FiB83 · 23/02/2026 11:39

Just did a little bit of research on soy isoflavones, I'm not sure they would work for me and there is some risk of messing up my cycles..I'm fairly regular already. Might try temping and see if I am actually ovulating..surely if you're regular 27/28 day cycle then that's pretty conclusive ovulation has happened? I'm worried I will mess everything up but also thinking what have I got to lose....

BurningOutt · 23/02/2026 11:52

Sorry @FiB83! Take a couple of days to feel grumpy and wallow and then get back on it 💪🏻

@FlapJackered I’ve had some longer than normal luteal phases when ttc, as if it’s taunting me!

I’m cd 6 today, still just rattling around with my supplements. I’m expecting to ovulate on cd 12 so need to work out a good dtd schedule over next few days. Probably cd10, cd11 and cd12 so perhaps also today and Weds not to tire DH out too much!

DmcinT · 23/02/2026 11:54

@FiB83 oh no, I’m sorry and I thought that last test looked promising, it’s cruel. At least af didn’t keep u waiting.
I have a lot of the same symptoms u described up above so I’m fairly certain af is on its way, I’m either 12/ 13 dpo today so just hope I’m not left waiting days now if it’s coming! I didn’t test this morning as I’d bfn yesterday so totally convinced I’m out but now kinda wishing I had 😅

@FlapJackered skrry af is keeping u waiting (if it’s on its way) I find that hard as u just want to get back to day 1 and start afresh (well u don’t but u know what I mean lol)

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 23/02/2026 18:36

Well that's a big disappointment @FiB83
I'm so sorry.

DmcinT · 23/02/2026 20:46

@FiB83 af arrived here today also 😕 even thou I knew it was coming u stil have that glimmer of hope! Onto the next…
I’ll start lh strips around day 10, hope I don’t ovulate late again, it was a torture this month!

FlapJackered · 23/02/2026 22:02

AF has arrived! Somewhat relieved as felt like I was going crazy! Seems there’s a few of us on CD1 now.

@FiB83i get not wanting to try the Soy. I think it’s been likened to Clomid so definitely could mess things up temporarily. I tried it after a year of ttc in desperation and it worked so I didn’t really have any experience of it messing up the cycle until I miscarried at 8 weeks.

peanutbuttertoasty · 23/02/2026 22:31

I’d highly recommend ubiquinol 200mg but also using the Mira ovulation device with the new wands, which test 4 hormones at once (also useful for tracking peri apparently). We’d been trying for a few years on and off then Mira showed me my progesterone was tracking a bit low. I upped my thyroxine to see if that would help progesterone and was pregnant (at 43) within a few cycles. Now second trimester, fingers crossed.

FiB83 · 25/02/2026 11:42

Hi ladies,

Sorry I have been mega busy the last couple of days and probably feeling a bit sad that this wasn't our month. Back on it now though and hopeful we catch.

Has anyone tried nature? I'm being bombarded with adverts for it but it's quite pricey isn't it

OP posts:
Fletchasketch · 25/02/2026 13:40

Hi @FiB83 fellow 42 year old here, ttc after three losses in the past 18 months. So many of the supplements are eye wateringly expensive. I'm currently on Ovum which was recommended by my accupuncturist and contains ubiquinol, MTHFR and has great reviews. I definitely feel better on it, more energy, better sleep, digestion than I did on the Boots cheapies so like to think it's having some effect rather than just making expensive wee!

BurningOutt · 26/02/2026 13:41

Ive just been taking all the individual components of the fancy supplements, which works out a bit cheaper but probably not that much!

Ive had some kind of virus over the last few days - cold symptoms and a bit shivery (hoping not covid) - timing not the best as I’m expecting to ovulate over the weekend. Does anyone know if illness at this point (when follicles are growing/ramping up to ovulation) is a problem?

overwork · 26/02/2026 14:58

@BurningOutti had a virus over ovulation last year. It dated my ovulation by a few days and we missed it (but would have done anyway as I was poorly). So maybe add in a few extra days worth just in case!
