Does LH spike yesterday and temp raise today (I missed a lot of days on bbt but did get it yesterday), mean I've already ovulated? Dtd yesterday but won't have another chance so am hoping it's closer to 24h than 36h after LH spike. It's cycle one so I'm not familiar.

Sorry I can't comment on the tests people are posting I haven't done one yet but I'm hoping the best for you all.

My period is now three days late, I'm definitely not pregnant and I'm 40 so I'm just getting stressed that it's perimenopause and I'm too late.

I mean what are the chances that the month we decide to officially start trying my period disappears?!

Sorry, I know folk on here are dealing with much worse but I just need a wee 'waaaaah' moment.

Someone may be able to advise a bit better on how BBT factors in (it's been a while since I tracked temps and I can't remember!) but the thing I always think about catching your LH peak is that depending on how quick that rise is, when you get your 'peak' - you could be catching it on the way up or the way down. The fact your temp has gone up, could be working in your favour here. It looks good to me - will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I'm CD14 today and had a strong positive OPK this morning so just waiting to see with the next test if it's still rising or on the way down. Either way, it's go time for me! DP is primed and ready and we will be making the most of this run up to Valentine's!

And then we go away on holiday for half term with his family, so I'm hoping that will be a good distraction for most of the TWW so I don't get too obsessed over everything.

This is why this forum is here - to have a safe, understanding space for those wahhhh moments. We all have them. No matter where we are in our TTC journey and what that has or hasn't involved.

I know it's easy to jump to the conclusion that it's perimenopause and that you may have missed the boat - but that's a BIG leap. There's all sorts of very normal and natural reasons why your period might be delayed without that being the reason. Just see what happens over the next few days. Have faith.

Sa11yCinnamon · 12/02/2026 10:40

Thanks @Taysonic

I'm so teary this morning there must be something hormonal going on 😂Just trying to let it all out then get on with stuff.

I have read around a bit and am convinced I've ovulated. I had a lot of ovulation pain yesterday which confused me but apparently it does happen when LH is surging.

Enjoy the pre valentines BD and it's nice to have the distraction of the time away. You and I will be in 2ww at basically the same time.

It's totally normal for cycles to vary in length especially if you're stressing about anything. I usually have one mystifyingly long cycle per year (37 days when my cycles are an usually 30-32). In saying that if you are worried due to your age go to your GP and get bloods done even just for reassurance.

Sa11yCinnamon · 12/02/2026 11:22

Thanks @Howeverfar, that's good to hear!

I am still breastfeeding though now only once a day, which I'm actually planning to stop in the next week, and I've been on and off the pill which messed up my cycle length a bit so I'm going to try and calm down and wait a while to see what happens. I'm just so conscious of my age this time round.

Floralxox · 12/02/2026 11:51

Hi ladies would you say this is an evap? It came up after the 3 minute time frame but i’ve never really had this happen on tests other than clear blue before xx

hi looking for some advise, my not be in the club this month me and fella DTD 2 days before my Ovulation period, and he’s away now what the chances? I’m so gutted.

Sa11yCinnamon · 12/02/2026 12:21

@anxiousme1 do you mean two days before you ovulated? If so there's definitely a chance.

anxiousme1 · 12/02/2026 12:26

@Sa11yCinnamon yea sorry

Sa11yCinnamon · 12/02/2026 12:30

@anxiousme1 ah, if that's your fertile window you likely haven't ovulated yet so it might have been a wee bit early. But you never know, fingers crossed!

HelloDarknessmyoldfrenemy · 12/02/2026 13:00

@Sa11yCinnamon Breastfeeding really does mess with your cycles, so if you are still breastfeeding that is so much more likely to be it than the perimenopause. Know it’s hard not to panic though! Did you test for ovulation?

@Floralxox That’s a tricky test! I’d say evap as it appeared after the time window and perhaps looks over to one side more than it should? But could also be the start of a postive! How many dpo do you think you are?

@anxiousme1 How rubbish that your DH is going away at the wrong time! On the image you posted it look like you won’t ovulate until Saturday or Sunday. Is he back at the weekend?

Sa11yCinnamon · 12/02/2026 13:07

@HelloDarknessmyoldfrenemy do you think only feeding once a day (bedtime) would still have an impact? I've not started testing for ovulation yet, going with my app predictions for now and I had pain on the day it predicted I would ovulate. If nothing happens in a few months then I'll start testing, I just don't want to become obsessed too soon...

I think it does affect your period. While still breastfeeding twice a day (and it was more of a comfort feed at that point), I was spotting for 3-4 days before my period. Once I stopped it reduced back to one evening, as before. I also had longer cycles back then, which are not usual for me!

OP posts:
HelloDarknessmyoldfrenemy · 12/02/2026 13:29

@Sa11yCinnamon Yes, I think it can for some people! Some women seem barely affected (I know someone who got pregnant 8 weeks after birth and they were fully breastfeeding!) but for others even breastfeeding a bit can disrupt your cycle. Not that you can’t get pregnant, just your cycle might not be as regular.

I’ve also seen people on here say they had delayed ovulation when breastfeeding. So their body tried to ovulate at the normal time, couldn’t as didn’t have a mature egg due to lower hormone levels, and then ovulate later in the cycle, which then delayed their period.

When did you come off the pill? Might be that? I found it took about 6 months for my cycles to settle down after being on the pill.

Sa11yCinnamon · 12/02/2026 13:37

@HelloDarknessmyoldfrenemy I came off about two months ago, because it had reduced my cycles to 22 days (and I only went back on it because my periods were so awful). Had one of 26 days and I'm now on day 30, so maybe they're just settling, coupled with breastfeeding. I'll stop hogging the thread now but thanks to you and @Anya23 I'm definitely feeling a bit calmer now 😊

Riverofhope · 12/02/2026 15:08

I also got my BFN. This was month 9 of trying, as I’m 40 now will my GP be able to do anything at all if I make an appointment?

overwork · 12/02/2026 15:26

I’ve got a year or two on you @Riverofhopeand seeing my GP tomorrow so I’ll let you know! My last one was hopeless on this subject (and every other tbf), I’ve changed practice to see if this one is any better!

Matildahoney · 12/02/2026 15:53

@Riverofhope I was 39 when we ttc the first time, they investigated after 6 months, but if you can afford it I'd go private as they do full tests which are better when you're older than what the NHS offer.

Flataf · 12/02/2026 17:03

Posting cautiously but I think I see line it’s same test I just wanted to be shure I wasn’t seeing things 🤣😜

I’m so late on my period but definitely would’ve got a positive on a test by now. Pretty sure this is negative. About to start letrozole after 15 months I hope this will be our year.
