Hello! Anyone just starting their TWW? There's a couple of other TWW threads going but it feels like they're a bit older now with people testing already. I'm 2DPO - anyone else early on?!

What’s the earliest that anyone has gotten a positive?

You see all sorts on mumsnet - someone the other day was getting a vvvfl on multiple tests at 4DPO! It seems impossible to me but I guess there are exceptions. Some people might ovulate very close to the start of their LH surge and implant very quickly? On sensitive tests it says 6 days before missed period and what I generally see is some people getting a vvvfl at 8DPO and then that's gets stronger. That's by far the most common. There are then people on the other end who don't get anything until much later!

(If you're asking about us personally, I got a faint but obvious line at 9DPO with my daughter)

That’s the conclusion that I came to. That they ovulated at the start of their surge rather than a day after when the peak test showed. I read up that implantation happens at 6-12dpo but I wonder if that’s either not true for everyone, or if it’s an error in how we calculate our dpo and when ovulation actually occured?

My last pregnancy I didn’t get my BFP until 10DPO and even then it was vvvvvv faint.

my boobs have been sore today but I’m 5DPO so surely this can’t be pregnancy related?

I would say 5DPO is early for pregnancy symptoms but as we've just been saying, maybe you ovulated or implanted a bit earlier than expected. Some people do say they get really early symptoms before a positive result. Did you have any symptoms with your last pregnancy? I didn't have one symptom until I was almost 6 weeks.

For the ones who got BFPs before, did you get a BBT dip before BFP? If so, which dpo? A research shows that 75% didn't get BBT dips before their BFPs but only 25% did.

Just been to the toilet at work and had bright pink blood on wiping. My period was due Friday so I assume it’s that two days early. First cycle and I didn’t realise I’d be this dissapointed! Trying to hold it together - roll on 5pm!!

Oh no I'm so sorry @Creativepotter but inwards to the next cycle. This could very well be the one! Use your period starting as a chance to treat yourself a bit. Have your favourite dinner and a glass of wine for example!

@Creativepotter I'm sorry to hear that! I hate that feeling, it’s horrible when it happens at work because you have to pretend like everything is normal.

@LucyCL sorry, I’ve never temp checked so I don’t know x

How long has everyone been TTC? Next month will mark 1 whole year of trying for us, feels like a milestone I never wanted to reach!

This is only month two for us. I'm sorry the journey has been so much harder than expected. Is this your first?

It’s the first month actively trying by tracking for ttc#2. I suppose we started in May but I had just stopped the mini pill and we missed the window due to illness. Possibly good in the long run so I know I have had a proper period.

Bonniexx · 10/07/2024 17:39

Yes, this will be our first child. I’ve had 2 miscarriages so decided to go private and have some investigations done because NHS will only do them if you’ve had 3 or more miscarriages. I’ve had a ton of blood tests (18 to be precise!) literally went for some more this afternoon in London but not had all the results back yet. One of the tests came back saying I have very small blood clots which means I need to take aspirin everyday when pregnant and I’ll also need to take progesterone x

Grinchface · 10/07/2024 17:45

Hello, I hope you don't mind me hopping on here too Smile

Having read all your posts I feel a lot more sane - it's ALL I can think about and my bf, although amazing, just doesn't get it!

It's my first month TTC, currently 6DPO. I'm dying to test but going to try and hold out til AF is due as I know the chances first time trying are probably slim.

Does anyone have any tips for trying to keep your mind from obsessing during the TWW or is this just par for the course?! I can't concentrate on anything else!

Wow, we are similar! This is also my 1st ttc. Since this March I have had 2 MCs and I only managed to get NHS to do a standard blood test for me this May and I still haven't heard anything from them.
Since my 1st MC, I have been doing lots of blood tests, 2 health checks and 1 fertility assessments and some transvaginal scans. Because of checks and tests, I know that I need to take extra vitamins to boost my progesterone and estrogen during the luteal phase.
Good luck to you on this ttc journey!

There is implantation bleeding. I have never had this myself. So, I am not sure if this is the case for you. Self care is also important in this ttc jounrey!

Hi @LucyCL
I just wondered are there natural ways (non prescribed) to boost progesterone or does it have to be doctor prescribed?

I’ve had a google what that is. I’m really not sure, I’ve not bled since and had brown discharge. Very occasionally my period can be slow to start so who knows. Treated myself to my fave dinner and a bath going to cuddle up into bed now.
how are you?. X

Bonniexx · 10/07/2024 19:54

@LucyCL oh wow, yeah really similar! Have you heard about the NHS cyber attack on the blood tests? So they aren’t doing any blood tests for now and they don’t know when things will be fixed so I got fed up of waiting and went private. Sorry for your MC’s 😢 let’s hope third time lucky for both of us! X

Hi @Grinchface , welcome! It can be all consuming can't it! I got pregnant 2nd cycle trying with my daughter and I'm on my 2nd cycle now, so I don't have loads and loads of TTC experience. I am definitely more relaxed this time, I think because I have my daughter to distract me. I think it does get easier 2nd cycle too - the 1st cycle it feels so novel. I choose to shorten the TWW by testing early, starting from 9DPO. Even if I get a negative at 9DPO it really takes away the urge to test and feels like I've scratched the itch. So I find I only really have a week of thinking about it (because the 1st couple of days we're still trying) which helps. It does go fairly fast. Other than that - just carrying on life as normal, finding other things to be excited about, keeping yourself busy etc. It really does help to distract you. Good luck!!

Grinchface · 10/07/2024 20:33

Thanks @imy that's so helpful! Testing to shorten the wait makes a lot of sense and really good to know it might get easier on further cycles once I've got used to it.. or have got better at distracting myself/putting it out of my mind. That's so lovely that you have your daughter as a distraction now! Wishing us all luck!

Taking vitamin B6, C, E, Zinc and Magnesium from 1 dpo will help to boost progesterone and estrogen levels. It worked for my last cycle based on the results of my two 7 dpo blood tests.

Having a bath sounds good! I am 8 dpo and have no expectations because of 2 MCs. I am feeling quite calm at the moment. 😀
