@Paws4thought hopefully you get in depth report back soon 🤞

@xxcxdonxx how are you getting on?

@Jadeypie hope the little lad id fully recovered now!

@Westy22 that's great that you heard it straight away. Hopefully your 20 week scan will fly in. Did you book a holiday?

@SnookyPook how are your biweekly scans going? Do you live close to the hospital? Hope it's not too much of a trek!

@Supertrooper101 you must be nearing 3rd trimester too now? How are you feeling?

We went shopping over the weekend bought a couple of bits and put a deposit down on a travel system 🥹. I was finally feeling like I could start to relax a bit after the big scan but then I convinced myself that my belly was flatter and I was leaking amniotic fluid (which was probably discharge or wee 🤷‍♀️🙈😂) I've talked myself around and tried to think more logically. I think it's because I'm still only getting flutters and not what I'd call kicks yet, even though I get them every day I just can't wait until they're more regular (although even then I'll probably still get anxious) I don't think it will ever go away 🥴

@Sez281 thanks lovely! Thankfully we're not too far from the hospital! Had the first of the bi-weekly ones yesterday afternoon and all looking good. Wasn't a growth one but just checking the uterine arteries, amniotic fluid etc and little man was looking happy in there. Next one on Friday. Feeling a lot more hopeful. Also asked on the childbirth board and have had a couple of reassuring stories about babies born at the 33-34 wk mark with low birth weight so if worst case scenario goes ahead I'm feeling more confident he will be ok. ☺️ At this point, every day/week things are getting better 🙏🏼

Aw bless you those little worries still creep in don't they. The wee/discharge/fluid debate is a tough one, especially as discharge definitely increases again from mid-pregnancy I'd say! If ever in doubt though, don't feel bad about getting checked out. It's a very easy check at the hospital and they'd always rather err on the side of caution.

Supertrooper101 · 06/06/2024 08:02

DmcinT · 06/06/2024 14:31

Hello girls, it feels like forever since I’ve been on here but ye popped into my head earlier in the week and I thought I must come on and see how everyone is. Wow it’s lovely to see so many nearing due dates, 20 week scans etc..
I hope anyone still waiting for their bfp is doing ok, I’m sure it’s not easy to be following others progress when ur still waiting to start that journey❤️ sending love

no major updates here, my little lady is 4 months and time is flying by, she’s a wee scoot of a thing and still in 0-3 clothes but getting bigger and doing great, she’s a lot of fun now and chats and giggles away. My mind has started to shift to TTC again, not for a while, but maybe around the end of the year/start of 2025, it’s mad to think of starting it all off again, peeing on sticks etc..

anyways I just wanted to say a little hello and that I’m always thinking and hoping things are going well for everyone on here 🥰 I can’t wait to see the new arrival updates over the next few months x

SnookyPook · 06/06/2024 16:01

@DmcinT how funny - you popped into my head earlier! So lovely to hear from you and to hear that little one is doing well 🥰 Oh wow, yep it's weird when you start wondering about TTC again! In my case AF never reappeared while I was BF so that delayed things! Enjoy the next few months then before you get into the stick peeing etc all over again! Haha. My Hubby has already been saying he wouldn't be averse to another (!!!) I'm like "let's just get this one here safely first eh?!" I'm really not sure I've got it in me to go again... I thought I did before the losses and then all this faff with added worries etc this time but now I'm just thinking it might be nice to just enjoy what we've got!!!

Livingmydream25 · 06/06/2024 17:38

Hi,
I new to mumsnet and new to TTC! Came off of the pill beginning of May.
I'm looking for general advice and guidance through this as I don't really have anyone to talk to about it!
I experienced lots of nausea, fatigue, cramping and frequent urination this cycle and managed to convince myself I was pregnant (which I wasn't expecting before a natural period).
I tested at 11dpo and it was negative. I then got spotting and thought this could be implantation.
This turned into a very light bleed, so light I only needed one pad per day and then it ended after 2 days without getting heavier. Someone at work told me this sounds like implantation so I took a test 16dpo, also negative.
I'm assuming that cycle was unsuccessful (my husband calls it our practice round), but wanted to get some advice.
If unsuccessful I'm on cycle day 6, ready to try again x

SnookyPook · 06/06/2024 19:22

@Livingmydream25 welcome to MN ☺️ You might get better help with starting your own thread on this. We've all been chatting on this thread for over a year following previous losses so probably not the best thread for a newbie 😊

It does sound though like your first TTC cycle hasn't resulted in pregnancy - extremely common! It can take 6 months to a year so don't worry. With my first I was lucky to get pregnant on our 4th cycle tracking ovulation - we'd been trying a few months before that but obviously hadn't been timing things optimally. Once you get into cycle tracking etc it can become very consuming so if you're not in a major hurry I'd maybe enjoy a couple more cycles of just 'winging it' - basically DTD (do the deed) as and when you feel like it and enjoy connecting with your hubby.

Do you know your own cycles quite well and are you regular etc? That helps. If you get impatient and not getting that BFP (big fat positive!) then opks (ovulation predictor kits) are great for timing things better. You'll find lots of threads explaining how to use them etc if you use the search bar. Using them enables you to know your peak fertile days when you're most likely to conceive. Alternatively, if you have the inclination and energy, a good approach is to DTD every other day from end of your period until the next pretty much! Good luck!

xxcxdonxx · 06/06/2024 20:24

Oh lovely @Sez281 , so nice to be at the stage to start buying some bits and pieces.
Did you decide to get checked over?

How are you other ladies getting on with your baby shopping?

Is it your growth scan tomorrow @SnookyPook or the other checks they are doing? Let us know how you get on.

No real updates from me for now. I was sure I was gearing up to ovulation and have been using opks just to check but they are whiter than white. Had a bit of random spotting and cramping too so I’m really not sure what is happening. Time will tell!

Lovely to hear from your @DmcinT and that your little lady is doing so well xx

SnookyPook · 06/06/2024 23:44

@xxcxdonxx thanks for asking - it's the other checks tomorrow so just a check in on his health more broadly. The growth one will be next week when we'll get more idea of if he needs out asap or not..!

Hope you're doing ok. That's frustrating with the opks. Are you hoping to try this cycle? X

xxcxdonxx · 07/06/2024 08:54

That’s good. As you say, every day/week counts and nice to have the regular check ins. Mad to think he could be here in a matter of weeks!

I’m not sure if we would try this cycle or not, we haven’t actually really agreed on it. I am nervous to try again as I know that if I do get pregnant then it’s the last time regardless of the outcome. I would just like to know what is going on at this point!

Westy22 · 10/06/2024 09:24

Morning everyone, hope your all well 🥰

How did you get on Friday @SnookyPook ❤️

How are you? @xxcxdonxx we still haven't really purchased anything 🤣 think once my 20 week scan is out the way on Monday I'll go mental and start ordering 🙈 my sis has 9 kids with her youngest being 1 so she's giving me quite a few nice things (she's got expensive taste so I'm happy to take the freebies lol) she's offered me her bugaboo pram, I was in two minds but then I was going to purchase a bugaboo anyway so feel like I'd be stupid not to?! Considering there about a grand 😱

How's everyone @Sez281 @Jadeypie @Paws4thought

Can't believe I'm 19 weeks pregnant, feels so surreal, belly has well and truly popped out now, booking a last min holiday for next week well hopefully..OH is recovering from gastroenteritis 😱 thankfully I'm fine so think its something he's eaten without me 🙈

Paws4thought · 10/06/2024 10:13

@Westy22 ooo that's good, expensive hand me downs are ideal haha if the pram is what you were looking at anyway might as well go for it, you could always buy a different one if you dont get on with it. Wow 9 kids, she must be busy 🙈 hopefully this week will go quickly for you :)

I'm back in tww as of today, so keeping everything crossed, the fertility nurse said the thyroid antibodies wouldn't affect anything only makes a difference if you have hypothyroidism already but they'll test thyroid at 7 weeks amd she didn't send the figures so I'll try gp again in a week or 2.

SnookyPook · 10/06/2024 11:32

@Westy22 fingers crossed all was looking fine still. In again tomorrow and then the growth scan on Friday so we'll see how that goes!! I feel like he's bigger... 🤞🏼

Deffo take all the freebies offered! As Paws said, you can always buy things once baby is here if you don't get on with any particular items. Glad you dodged the gastro 😩 Also, wow! 20wk scan next week? Exciting! 🥰

@Paws4thought ooh keeping everything crossed for you lovely. Good that you're keeping on top of thyroid stuff and that it shouldn't have an impact on TTC.

Hope everyone else is ok! X

Sez281 · 12/06/2024 08:47

Hi ladies, sorry I haven't been on in a while. Just coming off a 7 day straight work cycle and it's been pretty crazy 🤯. The holiday is a distant memory now!

@SnookyPook hope yesterdays scan went ok, I know growth one is Friday so fingers crossed for that 🤞x

@Paws4thought Wow the tww's are flying in, best of luck with this one! It sounds like the results and midwife conversation were quite reassuring so hopefully that's all positive! X

@Westy22 that's great that your sister is giving you the bugaboo. My sister still uses her buggy but is giving us loads of other stuff ( the next to me crib etc) so I'll take anything 😂 Sorry to hear your OH was unwell but so glad you didn't catch it! Hopefully the days before the big scan next week fly in 🙏 x

@Supertrooper101 how are you doing? Any little holidays or breaks anything planned before d-day?

@Jadeypie hope the little fella is completely on the mend now and you're doing ok x

@xxcxdonxx how are your OPKs looking now? I totally understand the nerves. Maybe try not to put so much pressure on it this cycle, I think knowing it's "your last time" could be very daunting 😢 I completely understand wanting to draw a line under it if it's not going to happen and just move on, it's a catch 22 really trying to find the balance 😢 xx

@DmcinT so lovely to hear from you. Can't believe the little one is 4 months now. Such a lovely time of year to be coming into with her 💖xx

I'm still getting palpitations but not as bad now, my BP was quite high at 20 week scan so they want to keep an eye on that. To be honest I think it's mainly work stress that's causing it so that's something I need to address 🧐
I'll be 23 weeks on Friday. I have consultant appointment on Monday and it can't come soon enough. We don't actually have midwives assigned to us like the NHS does. When I was worried last week the only thing I could have done would be to show up at triage at my hospital. It has crossed my mind several times but then it's like the little one knows and gives a few flutters so I know she's still ok 🙏 I just can't wait for "proper" kicks. I'm lucky that with my health insurance I'm in a position to be private so from 28 weeks I'll be seen by the consultant every 2 weeks. I honestly don't think I'd need able for these big gaps again as I just start catastrophising 😭 I'm sure every first time mother feels the same but I do think it hits that little bit harder after our journeys.

Hope all you ladies are doing ok in general and enjoying the build up to summer 🥰 xx

@Sez281 nice to hear from you! Glad you're ok - sorry work has been so manic though! Mine is thankfully winding down now and I've actually brought my Mat Leave forward a bit. With using up AL too my last day is actually going to be 2nd July!! 😯 Can't believe I've got to this point!! Last scan was fine thank you - the fact that blood flow and fluid are looking good still apparently means they are confident he will have grown so that's looking hopeful. I've also been getting bad reflux at night in the last week which, although unpleasant, I'm taking as a good sign that he's bigger and encroaching more on my digestive system!! So, we'll see what Friday shows. However I'm feeling more hopeful that we'll get to a slightly bigger gestation at least. 🙏🏼

Hope everyone else is ok 💗

Supertrooper101 · 12/06/2024 12:32

@Sez281 do u not have standard midwife appointments because your private or is it just where u live? Am ok. Moods all over the place and really tired lol so probably cos am always tired lol i took the kids to butlins end of may. Normally in bed by 9pm so i did well staying up till midnight each nite lol forgot how loud the shows were so that had me on edge 🙁.. music fake smoke bass etc, spent alot of the time in the toilet avoiding it, well trying 🤦‍♀️. Good that you will be looked after every 2 wks, i think that will make a huge difference and make it goes quicker.
@SnookyPook defo signs there that his grown, you watch, after all this he will stay put till 40wks and you will have to be induced haha
@Westy22 9 kids 🤯 how is that even possible to cope with lol are some of them older and moved out? But thats alot of hand me downs for a very long time 😀 lol

Good luck to.you guys waiting 🙂

SnookyPook · 12/06/2024 17:13

@Supertrooper101 haha yeah no doubt 😂 Gosh kudos to you - that Butlins trip sounds a bit of a nightmare! Haha

xxcxdonxx · 13/06/2024 07:28

That’s exciting @Westy22 , shopping for all the baby bits is a lovely job to do. It’s crazy how expensive the prams are so you are quite right to take one that is being offered!
Did you get a holiday booked up?

Ooh fingers crossed for this one @Paws4thought 🤞🏻

@Sez281 turns out I was gearing up for AF instead! Arrived on Tues exactly 4 weeks after my mva so quite decent timing at least.

Ooh @SnookyPook your mat leave will be here before you know it!

Westy22 · 13/06/2024 21:53

Yes we've booked a holiday @xxcxdonxx heading to Spain for the week next week, cannot wait to chill out and get away from the crap weather. Its good that AF arrived on time atleast it shows your body is recovering ❤️

@Supertrooper101 haha ones moved out now, the rest are all under one roof 🙈 she has 3 boys and 5 ĝirls at home it's absolute chaos 🤣🤣 but my sis is definitely made for it x I feel like I've started to get tired again and noticing more mood swings....oh and I'm slowly starting to feel sick more often which I'm not pleased about lol

@Sez281 ahh 23 weeks 💓 I know what you mean about the movements helping reassure, I had a little wobble yesterday then last night I swore I got some very obvious movements non stop for a good 10 mins so was made up 🤣 I'm so proud of myself for lasting 7 weeks without a scan but I'm so nervous for Monday 🙈 praying all is well 🙏

Good luck tomorrow @SnookyPook can't believe your mat leave is coming up so soon 🙈 glad everything is still looking positive xx

SnookyPook · 14/06/2024 23:25

Hi all. Been a manic day here! Finally getting round to updating. So, little man has grown nicely since his last scan and is currently 3lbs3oz at 31+4 meaning he's put on approx 1lb in 2 weeks. Still dinky. Consultant says current plan if he stays below 3rd centile would be delivery by 37wks .. so by 22nd July! Got a bit to think about re birth choices etc which they are going to talk through more with me next week. As I had a vaginal delivery with my first they seem to think this is a good option and likely they'd start the process around 36+6. However... I'm not quite sure about induction and the lack of control etc. There is also a chance that labour could be very stressful for him and after my losses etc I just feel like maybe the calm, controlled environment of an elective C-section would be preferable. That said, I find the thought of major abdominal surgery quite daunting too!! But I'd rather take the hit myself than risk him struggling through a tough and lengthy birth process...

Anyway, definitely on the better side of the possible outcomes and looks like we will hopefully avoid being super-prem 🙏🏼 Very surreal though to think that he will most likely be on his way mid-July! Next month!! Eek!! Glad I brought my Mat Leave forward 😂

Hope you're all doing ok. Xx

Supertrooper101 · 15/06/2024 09:40

@SnookyPook awwwww, you knew he had grown too even before the scan... the birthing options is that because his on the smaller side or did you struggle with the first? Defo see your point of taking the hit instead of him. I would have fort induction there was a sense of control, but thinking about it, your kind of forceing them out aent you when they may not be ready. New fort to add to my list that one 🤦‍♀️🤣.... whats your oh forts, his the man to ask lol
@Westy22 the sickness will be a shock to u lol but least ur at a stage where the nausea and everything else will be accompanyied by kicks so kinda evens the negatives out lol
@xxcxdonxx some ppl r selling there prams for 4 500 on fb second hand, nar mate, not happening, they get messed up to quick to be paying all that lol seems ur body is strong and wants to be back on it i would say 😜. Hope your in a better place now.

Westy22 · 15/06/2024 09:53

Ahh that's good news @SnookyPook in terms of delivery I can't comment but I understand your point of wanting minimal stress on baby with C-Section, it's just the recovery after for you I guess? My sister was induced with her last baby, all the others were natural labour. She's adamant I should avoid it at all costs as she didn't feel her body was ready 🙈 freaks me out but I guess we have to do what we have to do to deliver safely.

@Supertrooper101 luckily the nausea ain't that bad ha only in the morning and no sickness yet 🙏 was loving all the obvious movements but now I swear baby has changed position and its definitely more subtle 😑 think it got fed up of me prodding 🤣 hoping it can be looked at properly on Monday as ive read if its in a funny position they struggle..any tips of what to eat before hand to make baby wake up 🤣 thinking lots of sugar. Hope your well? Xx

HopeAndStrength · 15/06/2024 12:11

So lovely to read all of the updates on this thread, I hope you're all doing okay ladies.
I'm just creeping out of the woodwork to say that I had an induction (balloon) and then emergency c section @SnookyPook. I was one week overdue.
The c section and recovery was very smooth. I did not like the balloon induction, but I know the experience is different for everyone.

SnookyPook · 15/06/2024 15:53

Thanks all! Yeah @Supertrooper101 @Westy22 my first was completely natural and in fact I didn't have any interventions/pain relief even gas or air.. so the idea of a very medicalised birth is quite daunting. What I've heard/know of inductions is that, as you said @Supertrooper101, you're basically forcing a process to start early that neither your body nor the baby are quite ready for (particularly if baby isn't even Term)... Obviously in some cases it works fine, but it's often a quite prolonged process, can ramp up pain etc and to my understanding increases likelihood of interventions needed and possible ending in emergency C-section anyway.... Add to that a small baby is more likely to get into difficulties/distress and the thought of putting him through that for a prolonged time just isn't sitting quite right... My OH is like, just trust the consultants... But I feel like it's one of those times where perhaps Mummy instincts sometimes count for more... So, I do need to look into it a bit more but just wary of it.

@HopeAndStrength thanks for sharing your experience! It's certainly not uncommon from what I've heard... Hmm... How are you getting on btw?! 😊

@Westy22 haha think I ate some Haribo in the waiting room with Sebby and when we had the scan he was literally doing back flips. 😂 Our 20wk scan pics are him upside down with his feet by his nose 😂😂 He was almost too active for them to get some measurements but thankfully they managed.

xxcxdonxx · 16/06/2024 09:24

That’s great news @SnookyPook , he could be another few lbs heavier by 37 weeks too, all must be feeling very real now!

@Supertrooper101 lol, my body’s now telling me it’s go time. My oh seems to think we should just ‘relax’ this time and let things happen to take off some pressure. I totally get his point but if I’m on the pessaries, aspirin etc then I need to know my dates.

Hope baby is playing ball tomorrow @Westy22 and you get all
the measurements you need.
