if you are still awaiting the arrival of your period ( or af as some of you insist on calling it) there is NO way of knowing you are up the duff. all so called early pregnancy symtoms are pretty much the same as being premenstral.

crampy draggy feelings - tick
change in mucus - tick
nausea and light headedness - tick
bubbly feelings - you have wind

i could go on. i am not being mean but i would like to share my experiences over the past couple of years.

just wait and see!

sorry beanie, just find it v frustrating at times.

SheherazadetheGoat · 19/03/2008 11:17

was it snide? - personally i think saying 'nerr' to a bunch of woman who have been trying to conceive for a VERY long time alot more snide.

OP posts:
lissielouwithbunnyears · 19/03/2008 11:21

totally agree goat.

Eleveld · 19/03/2008 11:22

That's what I meant SheherazadetheGoat - the 'nerr'

I agree with you. Thought it was childish and insensitive but that's just me - each to their own!

beaniesteve · 19/03/2008 11:24

Lol - I wasn't having a go by the way
It gets on my ners too, and baby dust (Though you don't see people saying that much here )

Heron23 · 19/03/2008 11:25

reading all your comments made me realise that i am not the only one suffering from this waiting!

lissielouwithbunnyears · 19/03/2008 11:25

i do know quite early on, but no longer test early. its not always better to find out early, ive had far too many early mcs to be able to advocate early testing.

i wish that i could wait til 6w to do a hpt but unfortunately that choice has been taken from me.

ClairePO · 19/03/2008 11:25

When I got pregnant (unexpectedly but we hadn't been using contraception for 2 and a half years and I figured just avoiding sex mid-cycle was working as a contraceptive, I now realise how dim that seems) I had no symptoms at all until I counted back properly and realised I was a week late.

And I really don't get the whole 'I have a metallic taste in my mouth' thing. I have never had a metallic taste in my mouth ever ever ever. What's it all about?

And the 'I fell first cycle' thing reminds me when someone started a thread in here asking how many people had fallen pregnant first cycle and we had loads of smug people steaming in saying me me me and it was ever so slightly annoying. A throwaway comment in this thread is much less annoying I have to say.

SheherazadetheGoat · 19/03/2008 11:27

af, bding, baby dust the lot are horrendous, but i will defend to the death the choice of folk to use whatever coy language they desire.

SheherazadetheGoat · 19/03/2008 11:28

poor heron - you instigated this thread! how is your mucus bearing up?

OP posts:
beaniesteve · 19/03/2008 11:28

Oh I know - baby dancing! what is that all about. Sometimes when I am having not particularly spontanious sex with my boyfriend the expression 'baby dancing' pops into my head and it's quite offputting!

SheherazadetheGoat · 19/03/2008 11:32

actually during my last bding session lissie popped into my head as she had wished me 'happy humping'

Eleveld · 19/03/2008 11:33

sorry - I think too much has been made of my comment. I wasn't trying to make a big deal of it, just thought it was a little insensitive (especially when we all know what lots of poeple on this site have been through for years) and unnecessary.

Anyway let's put an end to it and get back to the much more important subject of symptoms/knowing whe you're pregnant!

SheherazadetheGoat · 19/03/2008 11:33

with dd i didn't have sore boobs at all. sigh, i would kill for sore boobs.

OP posts:
beaniesteve · 19/03/2008 11:39

OK then ladies and girls...

My period is due tomorrow.

Here are my symptoms...

Twinges in boobs which seem quite big
Just had a runny Poo, three times in a row
Awful stomach ache

I did eat about 20 dried Apricots last night though!

SheherazadetheGoat · 19/03/2008 12:03

[stamps on beanie stevies crazyness] have you done any tests yet? i normally have done at least 3 by the day my period arrives.

OP posts:
beaniesteve · 19/03/2008 12:09

I did a test yesterday eveing - just a cheap tesco one, was negative. I am assuming therefore that I am not pregnant

ArrietyClock · 19/03/2008 12:10

Testing.... you see, there's another craziness. We can spent a fortune trying not to get pregnant (so ok, you can get contraceptives free if you like) and then another fortune trying to work out if we are pregnant... Barmy when you can find out by waiting (9 months )

minster · 19/03/2008 12:11

How many people here have had a positive pregnancy test and been completely shocked?

Me & I've been ttc for the best part of ten years I've taken a billion pregnancy tests & each time they have been positive I've been completely shocked. I take zero notice of any 2ww 'signs'.

Heron23 · 19/03/2008 12:14

Hi Goat, my mucus has not changed, from memory it should be quite dry by now, but then i am looking for each little sign and imagining some i bet!

my body temp is consistently higher than normal tho

i just want to know NOW, but cant so trying to keep myself busy, i think i will go have a nap now.

SheherazadetheGoat · 19/03/2008 12:17

craziness - thats you you spell it. i knew crazyness was wrong but was too lazy to check it.

heron - good luck with the mucus and i find having a nap an excellent way to keep busy.

herbaceous · 19/03/2008 13:41

Every month:

1 sore boobs from ovulation onwards. spend cd25-28 prodding them to ensure they're still sore, sore in a 'different way', etc.
2 Varying levels of cramping, from none at all to 'rush to loo with tampon'. When I have cramps, must be womb stretching. when I don't, must be pregnant as no period cramps.
3 Stronger sense of smell. Or is it just that people on the tube, and my compost bin, really DO smell.
4 People on mn saying 'it's been two months now, I had sex on Wednesday, am I pregnant', and every month I resist tracking them down and beating their brains out with a home pregnancy test. They know not what they do.

After three years, and four miscarriages, you'd think I'd have given up symptom spotting. It would seem not.

fruitloopwants79eastereggs · 19/03/2008 13:45

yup! I'm 16dpo, neg test last Sat, no sign of period
Symptoms are:

Metallic taste (dodgy, bleeding wisdom tooth but NO it MUST be a symptom! haha)
VERY tired (probably wiped out after horrendous flu)
Food tastes funny (maybe still getting over flu)
loss of appetite (due to funny tasting food)
Nausea (probably hungry due to loss of appetite)
Mild twinges in lower abdomen (probably period getting started/or maybe imagining it)
Mild twinges in boobs (only when I take bra off in eve when it feels too tight - probably sensitive against my t-shirt having taken bra off/Or imagining it)

I cant think of anymore but, you see, all these symptoms can be explained away so easily! But I still cling to hope!
