Bbt chart HELP!

I decided to track bbt this month for fun after a long time. I started having ewcm and open cervix which went away on Monday but appeared the next day again. By Thursday it was gone again so I’m guessing ovulation was the day before. Also opk was reading 0.5 on Wednesday and 0.2 on Thursday which also matches my previous pattern. But my bbt is rising by 0.1 every two days and all the time I tracked bbt it followed the same pattern of 36.3-36.5-36.8. I had ovary pains and my boobs are slightly sore. Could this be anovulation?

My temps dropped more today so af will probably arrive tomorrow.

Mine seem to be dropping too that must have been an evap because I’ve done more tests and they’ve been bfn.

@Dan521 In my opinion you are only 8dpo far too early for a positive. Are you having any symptoms? I feel like I always have new symptoms convincing me I’m pregnant. This month it nausea for the past week, painful boobs and very sore nipples and pinching in my uterus.

Dan521 · 28/11/2023 00:11

@emmatcc1 yes I agree it’s probably more likely to be 8dpo. I’ve really bloated, I’ve had this in previous pregnancies and it’s been a massive sign. But I do also occasionally bloat any way so I’ll have to wait to see if it goes down. I’ve also had sore boobs but they seem to be coming and going throughout the day so Its not really a sure sign. I’ll just have to wait and see what happens. I’ve had months where I’ve had every symptom and been convinced I’m pregnant and havnt been. The wait kills me though 🙈

ive got my fingers crossed for you that af doesn’t arrive. 🤞

Dan521 · 28/11/2023 08:43

I’ve had quite a big drop today..

So sorry to hear that 😢 I hope you get your bfp soon xx

Dan521 · 29/11/2023 14:08

My temp has pretty much stayed down today af is not due for another 4/5 days and never been early. How long before af does it usually drop?

Bbt chart HELP!
emmatcc1 · 29/11/2023 22:24

@Dan521 For some it’s days before af that it drops and for others it can be on the day of af.

OP posts:
Dan521 · 30/11/2023 09:56

It seems to be going back up again. Bfn though today.

emmatcc1 · 03/12/2023 11:57

@Dan521 How are you doing?

Please could someone help me with understanding my BBT, I'm new to this. I've been using Flo app (see screenshot)

My temperature has been 36.7+ for 3days, today slight drop by 0.01. The app is suggesting (the light blue line with o in middle at the bottom) I ovulated on 3rd? I'm confused as thought during fertile and ovulation days temperature stays high... looks like I've got this wrong ? The hearts below it are the days we DTD, annoyed we didn't do it on the 3rd!

I have PCOS and long cycles 35-45 but this cycle has reached 73days! So is it possible that I am ovulating 70days after last period??

Please help lovelies! X

Sorry the first photo cropped out the bottom. Reattaching below. I know a whole cycles data is needed to understand what's going on, I've only started recording from 20th Nov, hopefully I have a a better pattern showing by end of next cycle.

Soulsta · 06/12/2023 08:33

I'm really sorry, I forgot to attach... It's too early 🙊

I’m new to all of this so I am still learning but from what I know so far is you won’t be able to determine ovulation with bbt until a couple of days after it has happened when you can see your temp has remained high.

Yours has stayed above 36.71 for 3 days so it looks like that is the temp shift you are looking for. Ovulation day is the day before this rise. If you was looking at a textbook 28 day cycle chart with ovulation in the middle it would look like it was split in two halves. Cd1-14 would be lower and cd15-28 would be higher.

your temp should now stay where it is or above until your period arrives when it will then drop to those first lower temps. As you can see from my chart it did drop here and there but overall remained high, you’re looking at the overall pattern rather than the individual temps. Mine has now dropped and stayed low because af arrived.

if it doesn’t drop after the luteal phase (when you’d expect your af) and remains high that can be a sign of pregnancy but you’d need to have done a couple of cycles to know first what is normal for you. Some people don’t have a temp drop until the day af arrives, others have a gradual drop.

I’ve never used flo for bbt I use fertility friend and it gives a baseline (the horizontal line running across the middle) which gives a visual of the higher and lower temps below and above the line. Maybe put all your temps from this month into that app.

with regards to dtd it looks like you’ve covered it well. Statistically most people get pregnant from dtd 1-2 days before ovulation because the sperm is already there waiting for the egg. Although you can still conceive by dtd a couple of days earlier and the day of ovulation. You seem to have covered them all. I am going to try dtd every other day this cycle leading up to ovulation and until FF recognises ovulation. They say every other day gives the sperm enough time to build up and will still cover each fertile day as it stays alive in there.

Soulsta · 06/12/2023 13:44

@Dan521 thank you so much for this explanation, really helpful 💕

Just so that I've understood correctly, aim is to dtd a few days leading up to ovulation? Because of PCOS, my cycles are somewhat long and irregular. But I wont be able to detect fertile windows through bbt?

I tried tracking CM/ discharge, I had pretty much dry days 28th nov to 3rd dec (the fertile/ovulation days the app has cslculated). BUT I had egg white stretchy discharge from around 22nd to 24th nov (purple dots before those dates. Im wondering if those were possibly my fertile days and 27th nov was ovulation day, as I had my first rise on 28th?

It's all a little confusing, but it's still early days tracking BBT for me. Think I'll switch to FF, do you know if it forecast ovulstion/fertile days, using previous cycles?

Really hoping I've ovulated, after a long cycle of 73days and it wouldn't be less than a miracle for me if I get BFP ouf of this cycle! If not, still glad I'll be having a period, because then I can start fresh and record CM and BBT from CD1

Thank you once again xx any updates for you?

Dan521 · 06/12/2023 14:07

im still learning about all of this too, I do have regular cycles of 28-32 days so I can narrow it down to within a few days but my opks are constantly positive making it difficult to determine ovulation from them which is why I decided to try bbt this last cycle. I havnt been diagnosed with pcos and don’t have any symptoms of it but my positive opks and zig zag charts are apparently a sign of it. I was previously going off my peak which was cd11 but bbt said cd14. I have joined a group on Facebook called “home insemination” the group is about people who use doner sperm and artificially inceminate. The reason I joined is because there’s loads of discussion on determining ovulation since those people only get one or two shots per month they need to have perfect timing for it to work. A lot of them suggest inseminating on the first day of your positive opk rather than the peak but for people like me who had 10 days of positives that might not be very effective.

I can’t even imagine how difficult it must be for you to determine ovulation with such irregular cycles. Have you tried checking your cervix daily? If you do it for a whole cycle you’ll be able to recognise the changes. It will go from hard to soft and then back to hard. When it is soft you are fertile. There’s loads of info online about how to do it. It may be the only way if other methods don’t work.

another approach is the “sperm meets egg method” read up on it, it’s basically just dtd every other day for the whole cycle so you’re fully covered (easier said than done 🙈)

ive been trying all different things each cycle and each cycle I learn something new. I’ll be able to write a book on all of this soon 😂. I’ve always considered myself super fertile, I have 3 children and been pregnant many other times while actively trying to avoid pregnancy. Two of my children were conceived while on contraception, the other was conceived while I was breastfeeding my 6 week old son. I am trying with a new partner though who has poor sperm, we’ve seen an improvement with supplements Within a month and going to keep trying them for another 2-3 months.

Soulsta · 06/12/2023 15:16

@Dan521 irony of life ey, things dont come as easily when you want it. How long have you been trying for now?

I've heard some women get positive opks and some don't. Some women on here shared how they fell pregnant despite OpK showing 'O'. I tested all days whilst trying (which coincidentally according to app was during fertile window), I got O all days. I was expecting this as I was told Ovulation kits dont well for women with PCOS.

I have heard lots of success stories of home insemination, the last 3 attempts were this. It takes off so much pressure, not sure if it's more or less effective than traditional way, but hearing peoples success stories definetely gave a reason to try it out. Hopefully husband can continue providing semen every other day, through this method.

Btw did your AF come?

Soulsta · 07/12/2023 08:13

Another rise this morning. Taken exactly at the time I woke up, got 36.86, then took another 15mins later (still in bed, no movement), 36.77.. hmm that's a significant change, I wonder what causes the drop within 15mins🤔

I tried to feel my cervix, surprisingly it was very low, if it was the cervix I was feeling lol. It felt like two parts of the lips swollen with a gap/opening in the middle (sorry for tmi). Definetely going to continue observing any changes.

Your cervix when not fertile should feel as firm as the tip of your nose, when fertile it should feel as squishy as the inside of you cheek. It helps to keep checking so you can distinguish between the two. Some times mine is in between the firm and squishy.

@Dan521 yes I think mine was between squishy and firm. Will keep an eye on it.

Do you mind having a glance at my chart, I've had 2 more rises yesterday and today, and the BBT chart is suggesting a new luteal line. I'm confused, is it disregarding temperatures 1,2,3dpo and suggesting luteal phase started on 4dpo ?

Dan521 · 08/12/2023 12:14

I have no idea what the luteal line means I’ve only done one cycle of bbt and had the same line. I think there’s explanations somewhere in the app that explains what it means.

Dan521 · 18/12/2023 08:52

in back to ovulation again.. this months chart is looking a lot neater
