Bbt chart HELP!

emmatcc1 · 18/11/2023 08:21

I decided to track bbt this month for fun after a long time. I started having ewcm and open cervix which went away on Monday but appeared the next day again. By Thursday it was gone again so I’m guessing ovulation was the day before. Also opk was reading 0.5 on Wednesday and 0.2 on Thursday which also matches my previous pattern. But my bbt is rising by 0.1 every two days and all the time I tracked bbt it followed the same pattern of 36.3-36.5-36.8. I had ovary pains and my boobs are slightly sore. Could this be anovulation?

I’m sorry I cannot answer your question, I’ve just come on here to ask something similar and seen your thread. I’ve also started bbt this month. I’ve been using opks for a while and get about 5 days of positives and other random positives throughout my cycle. I’ve been calculating ovulation as the day after the highest peak and wanted to bbt to confirm that I am getting the right day.

I had my peak on the day I’ve put the positive test into the chart which was cd11 but I’ve been getting positive opks since cd9 which is where you can see the temp drop. I’m now CD13.

I’ve been researching bbt for a while and expected my chart to be cut and dry with obvious lower temps in the follicular phase, an obvious rise/spike and then higher temps after ovulation. I assume I’ve already ovulated going off my opks but I have no idea what is going on with my chart 😭 and have no idea what is going on with yours either 😂

hopefully my comment will bump your thread for you and someone with more experience in this department can enlighten both of us.

I think it may be the case that we will both have to keep temping for a couple of cycles for there to be enough data for the app to get a baseline.

4LeafCloverBaby · 18/11/2023 10:39

Hi guys, you really need to temp from CD1 to get the best picture. Also you have to temp at the same time every morning before you sit up (hopefully you know this anyway) there should be a definite jump after ovulation. Variables can affect your chart though, so sleeping with your mouth open, disturbed sleep, getting up for a wee etc. not sure if any of this helps?? This is my chart for reference x

@4LeafCloverBaby I’ve done bbt in the past not at the same times and even if it’s not from cd 1 ovulation is obvious on them.

@emmatcc1 ok cool, I wasn’t sure from your post how much you had done temping before. I guess monitor your temp for a few more days to get some more data & it may shed some light on it. Anovulation could have happened for a number of reasons but I’m sure you’ve read up online about it

etaketak1991 · 18/11/2023 12:57

@emmatcc1 I wouldn't say your chart is necessarily inconsistent with ovulation on Wednesday - it's probably just a bit too early to tell! Keep temping and hopefully it'll become clearer ☺️ If.possible, I'd invest in an ovulation thermometer, having the extra decimal point makes a lot of difference!

@Dan521 I think if you've been getting positive ovulation tests since CD9, CD10 might be your ovulation day? It's normal to get a dip a few days post ovulation when your estrogen surges ☺️ I got a dip at 3dpo last cycle! I'd maybe disregard the random peak at the beginning.

Hope things get clearer for you both soon, even if I'm totally wrong 😂

emmatcc1 · 18/11/2023 14:12

@4LeafCloverBaby what are the chances that I caught this randomly and I haven’t temped since may. I remember my first bbt cycle was picture perfect but lately I feel like my cycles are going downhill. Hopefully it’s just a weird one and I ovulated. I read that anovulatory cycle doesn’t end with a regular period, is that right?

@Dan521 I hope our charts get more clear in the next days.

Maybe this could indicate I have low progesterone? Last couple of cycles I’ve been spotting before af an last month af arrived 2 days early, very unusual for me. I’m not ready yet for fertility tests as I’m currently under some other medical testing.

@emmatcc1 with an Anovulatory cycle you should still bleed at the end due to the drop in hormones but it wouldn’t be the uterus lining so may seem different. I would say the only way for sure to know is to have the fertility MOT, I had this & it really showed me a lot about my body. When you are ready for that it will hopefully give you some clarity x

Dan521 · 19/11/2023 08:55

@emmatcc1 mine is not looking any better today. The analysis is saying I have not ovulated yet and when I click “charts like mine” it brings up anovulatory cycles. I’ve had positive opks from cd9-cd14, I also had one positive on cd5. Everything I’ve read suggests I may have PCOS but I don’t have any symptoms of it.

emmatcc1 · 19/11/2023 10:58

@Dan521 my bbt stayed the same as yesterday. Very odd, I don’t know what to think as my temps are lower than my usual post ovulation temps but higher than my pre ovulation temps.

OP posts:
emmatcc1 · 19/11/2023 10:59

@Dan521 I’ve just noticed are your temps usually this high? Your lowest temp is my highest.

OP posts:
Dan521 · 19/11/2023 15:04

@emmatcc1 I’ve never temped consistently enough to see a full cycle but I have noticed they are higher than the normal range for the follicular phase. These are some poor attempts at previous cycles…

im on day 6 of positive opks. I was hoping bbt would confirm when I’m actually ovulating but I’m still none the wiser. It’s all looking like I may have PCOS but I don’t have any symptoms of it.

i wake up at different times each day so it’s difficult to get it at the exact time each morning.

Temps went up today so I definitely ovulated just not sure which day. When the app recognizes ovulation it will probably be wrong.

how are you?

My temps have gone up today too and my opks went back to negative yesterday. I have have been calculating ovulation from the peak, by the looks of things I should have been calculating it from the last positive.

I think it takes 3 days of high temps for it to identify ovulation, so won’t know for sure unless it stays high for the next couple of days.

@Dan521 if you are taking ovulation tests you can change the settings on FF to take in to account your positive ov test

Dan521 · 20/11/2023 12:58

@4LeafCloverBaby ive been putting them in it’s the + on the bottom, is there another function I’m not aware of?

4LeafCloverBaby · 20/11/2023 13:17

@Dan521 yes! Changed my life when I found it! Lol. Click on the top right 3 little lines, then settings, then Detector/Override settings then click on OPK/Monitor then click set x

emmatcc1 · 20/11/2023 13:17

I think it automatically marks ovulation if you put in one or two positives. If you put in more it calculates ovulation from temperatures.

I’ve just give this a go and changed it.. this message has come up but it has also pinpointed ovulation.

I’ve come home from work and done another opk which was positive again. I’ve put it in the app and it’s changed ovulation day to today instead.

@Dan521 when you say it’s positive, how are you working that out? Are you putting a photo on Premom & it is saying peak or are you using a CB digital or something else?

4LeafCloverBaby · 20/11/2023 17:00

@Dan521 did a little read up & it looks like maybe you experiencing multiple LH surges which is very common. Basically your body gears up to do its surge but doesn’t quite get high enough to ovulate so it will happen again at some point in the cycle. Once your temp rises & stays there it means you have ovulated.

“If you have experienced a positive ovulation test twice in one month (or more) you are most likely experiencing biphasic LH peaks.
The biphasic LH trend consists of multiple peaks and drops during the ovulation cycle.
This can result in multiple positive ovulation tests in one cycle.
It is important to note that receiving positive ovulation tests twice in one cycle does not mean that you are ovulating twice in one cycle. You should be able to refer back to your BBT to confirm when ovulation has taken place due to the rise in temperature.”

emmatcc1 · 20/11/2023 17:23

@Dan521 Those settings point ovulation on the day of your last positive which might not be accurate since you can ovulate up to two days after the positive test. Do you have the premom app to track opks and find your peak? I also find that temping vaginally gives me more consistent results.

OP posts:
Dan521 · 20/11/2023 20:11

Yeah I use Premom. I’ve been getting positives since Cd9 and still getting them today cd15. Peaked on cd11 as you can see. I would usually count ovulation as the day after the peak and decided to bbt this cycle to make sure I’m getting the right day which I obviously havnt been Since FF was saying I hadn’t ovulated yet.

the only thing I can do is keep taking my bbt and hope it stays high. I feel like opks are completely no use to me at the point 🙈
