I tracked ovulation and bbt for several months when ttc. I found one or the other alone wasn't enough but both together helped me (after 2 ys ttc)
To be completely honest, it didn't always reflect the "expected" trend. So I was ALWAYS scouring forums for help!
I've attached my ovulation and bbt chart the month I conceived so you can can compare. Maybe useful.
There was an indication of ovulation and confirmed by the premom ovulation strips and app (then using a clearblue digital to confirm ovulation)
The month I conceived my bbt barely looked like anything exciting to be honest and there wasn't the expected obvious "implantation" dip, there were 2 small dips and after seeing a 3 day dip first time, I thought I was out, it also wasnt as low/dipped as many people say, so again I thought I was out , 2nd dip was obvs implantation as I tested a vvf positive the following day or two after.
They say your temperature will remain high once pregnant but mine was all-over! Went below cover several times making me paranoid i was going to mc. Still preggo!
I used a watch, so temp was taken exactly the same time each day, too.
I think bbt follows a simple trend but not always and can't be solely relied on. I came to realise it should be used in addition to other things like tracking ovulation via strips and even then taken as a guide rather than solid rule.
The months before I conceived, my temp was a mess! One month looked for sure I was pregnant but wasnt! It was a frustrating time as I was comparing my chart to women who had textbook perfect charts and feeling deflated!
(The premom app is great if you don't already use it and the box of ovulation strips is only like £20 on amazon and you get a gazillion tests, incl some pregnancy ones)
