Just seeing if anyone else is in the dreaded TWW. Currently 2DPO going by my flo app (I haven't actually tested for ovulation).

@CluelessInLondon haha I know I’m terrible. It was only a cheapie so don’t feel like I’ve wasted a proper test. I must have missed peeing on sticks 😂

3ornotto3 · 17/12/2023 18:01

@CluelessInLondon annoyingly

my cycle isn’t like clockwork 🫠🫠 last month it was 30 days, before then 28 then before that 29. So by use of medium, I should be expecting to come on on Xmas day. How fab would that be. Sneaking off to the bathroom on the most hectic but lovely day of the year to get a BFP. Dreamy. No pressure uterus 😩😂

what about you? I’m just trying to catch up with the thread now! ❤️❤️

MarieeeG · 17/12/2023 15:18

@Karinx huge congratulations!!! That’s amazing 😊.

6DPO today and obviously I tested because I have no self control, although knew it’s basically impossible to get anything this early 😂

I was quite happy with how much we tried this month, but now it’s coming closer to testing I’m second guessing everything and not as hopeful as I was. But time will tell 🙃

😂😂 I love this. We’ve all been there 🤝🏻

Roseberry22 · 17/12/2023 20:07

@3ornotto3 AF is also due Christmas Day for me, everything crossed for us both it doesn’t turn up!

are you planning on testing before? I think I’m going to test Christmas Eve morning as we’ve got some family coming over that night and would usually have a drink

strawberrylaces12 · 17/12/2023 21:21

Hey everyone! My wife and I (same sex couple) had our first IUI attempt on Wednesday (13th), so I think I'm 4DPO. Obviously it's unlikely the first time so we're staying hopeful but managing expectations. No known fertility issues and usually 27/28 day cycle. So we'll be testing between Christmas and New year and/or waiting to see if AF arrives.

Although I'm having unmedicated IUI they did give me a trigger injection on the 12th as a belt and braces approach to make sure that I did ovulate (had a smiley face on an ovulation test on the 12th). The thing with the injection is that the side effects can mimic early pregnancy symptoms such as nausea, headaches, bloating etc. And we have been advised not to test until 2 weeks after the IUI as we can get a false positive due to the injection.

How is everyone else getting on? Any advice for cooing with the TWW please?

3ornotto3 · 17/12/2023 22:26

Oh wow, cycle twins!! I really really hope AF has fucked off for you for the next 9 months 🤞🏻

and yeah probably Xmas eve here too tbf. I have had zero symptoms, I just have a feeling that it wasn’t successful this month. Which isn’t the end of the world, means I can have some drinks Xmas and new years, but yeah I’d rather know sooner than later. Pls let me know how it goes!

3ornotto3 · 17/12/2023 22:29

Aww lovely!! Hope it all goes well @strawberrylaces12 ❤️❤️ it’s a shame the clinic don’t do a second insemination a day or two later, to mimic hetero TTC?? Surely that could boost success a bit more?? Or is it simply one shot each cycle? Xx

strawberrylaces12 · 17/12/2023 22:47

@3ornotto3 Although we're under an NHS fertility clinic we are having to self fund and it's £1200 a time (it can be more with medicated cycles etc.) so I don't know if financially it would make sense vs the increased likelihood. We have to fund 6 cycles and then we get IVF attempt on the NHS I believe in our local trust - the Government are supposedly reviewing this to make it fairer but who knows how long it'll take! I did look at the stats out of interest and each IUI is about a 15% chance, if a second was done in the cycle it's between 15 and 23% rather than double the chance. I guess similar to hetro couples having IUI funded on the NHS (usually they have to be TTC for a year and other factors to qualify for funding) they wouldn't be able to justify more donor sperm being used within the cycle especially as there are often shortages of donors. But I completely agree in an ideal world they'd be doing multiple attempts a cycle!

This TWW is hard 😅but yeah just trying to remember it's our first attempt so manage expectations!

3ornotto3 · 17/12/2023 23:19

@strawberrylaces12 oh gosh yes sorry I meant, surely the clinic should offer you that as part of what you’re already paying for, no? Because it is just such a lot of money, but yes like you’ve said, it costs them too. it’s just a shame that it’s such a financial hit on you both. If I become president, IUI/IVF/ICSI/basically all fertility treatment will be £150 per round ✍🏻🤝🏻 it’ll be in my manifesto 🤞🏻😅

How have you both found the process so far? ❤️ and yeah totally, the TWW feels like a lifetime. When you’re not in it, 10 days just flies by, but when you’re in it, my god how slowwwww does it go 🫠🫠😩

strawberrylaces12 · 17/12/2023 23:42

@3ornotto3 oh I see yeah that would be awesome if it included multiple per cycle! The dream 😂I'd vote for you!!

We were first referred to the fertility clinic by our GP in July, thankfully not too long a wait considering it's the NHS. Seen in September for an initial consultation appointment, had blood tests, scans, HSG test, and a counselling appointment (to discuss the legal and ethical side of using donor sperm), chose our donor, had more scans/tests to check follicle development and ovulation and then had the IUI. So now I'm thinking about it and typing it out wow it's been a lot and in a relatively short space of time. But it has already felt like a while to get to this place to have our first attempt. I'm just very grateful that we are in a position where we can get the process going 😊how are you finding ttc? I know right feels like it was about 2 weeks ago that we had our iui but it's only been 4 days (nearly 5 days now I guess)😅

IMBCRound2 · 18/12/2023 08:56

Jumping on board - 3dpo/iui .

CluelessInLondon · 18/12/2023 09:35

@MarieeeG The POAS addiction is real. 😂

@3ornotto3 You could always just ignore it for Christmas Day and live in ignorance until Boxing Day, if you're not 100% sure what date your period is due! I'm trying to make a point of not testing unless AF is late, it just adds to anxiety for me - with my previous pregnancy earlier this year (had a miscarriage in September) I didn't test until my period was 3 days late so I'm trying to get back to that state of relaxation!

@strawberrylaces12 Welcome and good luck with the IUI, hope you get that BFP quickly! I try to keep myself busy during the TWW and have some nice things in the diary to look forward to and focus on - quite easy this month with Christmas coming up!

@IMBCRound2 Welcome - good luck! I'm also 3DPO today so we might both be hopefully testing around the same time. Fingers crossed!

strawberrylaces12 · 18/12/2023 09:43

@IMBCRound2 good luck! Hello fellow IUI person here 👋Which round are you on for IUI? How have you found the process?

@CluelessInLondon thank you! Yeah I've got lots of nice things planned thankfully. I've got a 3 day week of work this week (Tuesday to Thursday) and then I'm off work for Christmas which I can't wait for! I wish I didn't have work this week and could relax but at least it's not long now. Have you got many nice plans coming up? 😊

CluelessInLondon · 18/12/2023 09:48

@strawberrylaces12 I've just got loads of pre-Christmas prep to do, plus a really busy week at work - so I'm hoping the days are going to go quickly this week! I've then got all the family arriving on Christmas Eve and a house full until the 27th, so I'm hoping there won't be any time to symptom spot and I won't even think about it until everyone has gone home, by which time it's only a couple of days until AF is due. Shame I can't have Christmas to keep me busy every month!

IMBCRound2 · 18/12/2023 10:15

@strawberrylaces12 - first iUi! I’ve had four FET which resulted in one glorious wildling but thought I’d try iui since we are still breastfeeding. So far it’s all been weirdly positive and calm which could come back to bite me but for now I’m sitting in a bubble. Although little one has chosen this week to run headfirst into the terrible twos so I don’t know how much rest and no-heavy lifting I’m getting . You?

strawberrylaces12 · 18/12/2023 10:48

@CluelessInLondon aww that all sounds lovely, full on, but a good distraction! Enjoy 🎄🎅

@IMBCRound2 first attempt/cycle of IUI here too! Trying for #1. Best of luck with the outcome of your IUI. Aww bless them well hopefully you are being kept distracted then, even if you're probably already shattered 😅glad to hear that it's been positive and calm. I keep swapping between feeling quite calm about it and then just thinking how am I only 5 days post IUI and still have over a week to wait for the outcome, it feels like it's going slow but what will be will be 🤞

We’re in cycle 6 TTC #1 as the months go on I get less hopeful so I think in some ways that does help me anyway as it takes away some of the stress.

i find the whole TTC journey so difficult I just think you prevent something for so long I didn’t think it’d be difficult to fall pregnant!

Ive had a bit of lower back ache the last 2 days but this could be anything as a bit early for anything pregnancy related. I’m trying to track all symptoms this month so if I’m not pregnant I can be like oh well I felt the same last month 😂

fingers crossed for you as well!

MarieeeG · 18/12/2023 12:19

@CluelessInLondon it really is 😂.

has anyone else been crazy enough to start testing?

I’ve got super bad period style cramps and symptoms, but it’s not due for another week. Keep having to go to the toilet to check I haven’t come on. Hoping it isn’t the start of AF 😣

strawberrylaces12 · 18/12/2023 12:38

@MarieeeG regarding testing I'm actually weirdly glad that I had the trigger injection as part of the IUI and told not to test before 14 days as it can result in a false positive. So it means I won't be testing until between Christmas and New year (unless AF shows up). I also can't properly look for symptoms due to the injection either due to it having side effects that mimic early pregnancy. Hasn't stopped me looking on here lots to see how other people are getting on though whilst I wait impatiently! 😂when are you wanting to test?

MarieeeG · 18/12/2023 12:53

@strawberrylaces12 ahhh yeah you have good reasoning to hold off then! Fingers crossed you get a lovely surprise between Xmas and new year 😊.
I don’t know why I bother symptom spotting as when I was actually pregnant with DD I had nothing whatsoever until around 9 weeks.

I’ll probably test tomorrow. I’ll be 8DPO so I feel like that’s sort of acceptable 😂 x

gtx1797h · 18/12/2023 12:58

11 DPO today but had the dreaded headache (pre period) yesterday
would you say you would still get the headache if you had conceived
likely no right?

IMBCRound2 · 18/12/2023 13:01

@strawberrylaces12 - not long to go ! My clinic weirdly gave me a 3 week TWW!?! I’m ignoring it and testing from 7dpo. If I’m out , I’d rather know than spend longer than needed driving myself bonkers symptom spotting and stressing.

strawberrylaces12 · 18/12/2023 13:03

@MarieeeG yeah the only thing I'm wondering is if I have any spotting if it could be implantation bleeding or any cramping etc. as I don't think that's a possible side effect of the injection. But I'm only ~5DPO today and also I know a lot of people don't get that anyway.

Wow until 9 weeks! What symptoms did you get then? Saying that, my mum said she never had any morning sickness or anything with me.

I didn't realise the tests could pick it up so early, I thought 10+ but that's really good that it can do. Wouldn't it be so good if we could just have a test to straight away see if we've conceived, although I guess that doesn't guarantee it'll implant etc. okay so actually maybe that wouldn't be good 😂

Let us know how the test tomorrow goes! (If you feel comfortable doing so of course). Fingers crossed for you 🤞

strawberrylaces12 · 18/12/2023 13:06

@IMBCRound2 oh wow 3 weeks. Ours is 2 weeks wait due to the trigger injection that I had (even though my ovulation test was positive with all of the usual signs I had it for 'belt and braces' to ensure ovulation) that can cause a false positive for up to 14 days. Did you have the trigger injection as part of your IUI?

MarieeeG · 18/12/2023 15:40

@strawberrylaces12 you’re stronger than me if you don’t test for 2 weeks. I’d still be doing it because I’m ridiculous 😂😂.

I didn’t have implantation bleeding previously so if you get some I’d definitely be inclined to test!

I tested positive with DD at 9dpo on a frer and clearblue digital.

My first symptom was sickness which lasted until about 13 weeks and that’s pretty much all I had
