Oh annie. I doubt that ANYTHING you did made this happen. I hope you start to feel a little better soon.

ladylush · 26/04/2009 02:34

annie - am so sorry Agree with duchesse - really don't think it's anything you've done so please don't blame yourself. I've done everything by the book and had m/cs, then drank loads and had really hot baths etc. not realising I'm pregnant and it's been ok. Take care

Re the morphology thingy - dh's was bad. I've had 4 m/c since having ds (who is nearly 5yrs old). I've had all the tests and they all came back negative. I've since been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid which can impact on pregnancy but I don't know if that was the cause of my m/c. Anyway, last m/c (Nov) was a blighted ovum and I tell you I really felt properly pregnant. I was feeling tired, sick, had blood hound sense of smell etc. etc. I was so shocked when I went to EPU and they told me there was an empty sac.
Anyway, after that dh went for sperm analysis. Apparently blighted ovum can be due to dodgy sperm fertilising an egg. He only had one test (I gather they usually compare two or three samples). His morphology was really bad yet his count really high. I did think that might explain why I was getting pg so easily but m/c each time but I think you clutch at straws at times like this. He cut down caffeine and alcohol. I got pg straight after the ERPC (for the blighted ovum). I doubt his lifestyle changes made much of a difference as he had only just started the new regime but somehow this time it worked. Anyway, sorry I'm rambling. I fell asleep on the sofa at 8pm and now I can't sleep!

Annie - I think there is something to be said for that. I always waited a cycle after m/c before ttc but this time I didn't bother and got pg first cycle after m/c. Though some advise against doing this..........you just have to go with what feels right for you.

I also attended reflexology to get my hormones back in balance. Don't know if there is an evidence base for it, but it felt very nurturing and that in itself was therapeutic.

So much inconsistency in fertility medicine. It's very annoying.

mummy2olivia · 27/04/2009 17:47

Anniemac- so sorry to see this news.

Morphology is a funny thing to translate- if all other areas of the SA are excellent then the morphology wont be much of a problem. My DHs morphology is 6% and the fertility clinic we attend says that this is of no consequence unless it gets below 5%. We have got pregnant (also a MC) but our cons is confident the morphology is not a problem- just my lousy plumbing!

HTH

You're welcome. I wish you and dp all the best of luck I seem to remember you are originally from NZ - or have I got confused? Just wondered whether fertility advice is similar.

ladylush · 27/04/2009 18:08
