@MrsPepper82 yes that’s right, TSH should be 2 or under for conception. I’ve had to explain this to my GP several times in the past so I’m glad yours is all over it!

I think of myself as a pretty resilient person (DH calls me a cockroach!) and usually thrive on stress, but it’s clearly got too much for me as my period was late - that has never happened before. I’m hoping we will get some time to relax over Christmas.

I’ve got my private recurrent miscarriage dr appointment tomorrow so will see what he recommends in terms of treatment.

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow Hope your appt goes well. It doesn't sound like you and DH do have a fair division of labour and that should be his responsibility to sort if he's not taking a fair share. It's not surprising you may not be sunshine and daisies all the time if you're taking on far too much! I hope you can both come to a more equal solution...maybe think about withdrawing some of what you do?!

Hope everyone is well, I don't really understand the test result/hormone chats etc so apologies!

FW going ok here hah. It's another month though where tbh I won't be upset if/when AF comes though as success this month risks me not being able to attend DSis wedding due to the date I'd be due and also being sick with HG over Christmas still...

AnaReis · 30/11/2023 14:04

Hi everyone! I haven't been able to reply to this thread, but I've been reading!

I just wanted to say that this isn't our cycle either. I'm more or less 10 DPO and just had a gush of blood when I went to the loo. Seems like spotting as it stopped right away.... But another month without success 😞 I don't think this will happen for us... This will be another short cycle as I'm on CD 23 so if AF shows up tomorrow, which is seems like the most likely thing to happen, it will be a 23 cycle day.... Which is really short 😞

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 30/11/2023 14:41

Oh no @AnaReis im sorry to hear that. Onwards and upwards for the next cycle!

I had my appt with my recurrent mc specialist and oddly it seems that one aspect of my immune system which was overactive is now normal, but another aspect has flared up. Apparently I need 2 injections of an immune suppressant and then retested to see if my levels have gone down before I can try again, which will take 6 weeks. Not so bad in the grand scheme and on the plus side everything else is looking really good - all my bloods good, hormones good, ovarian reserve excellent. I’m feeling quite positive overall.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Totally feel you @AnaReis. I’m also 10 DPO and have period type symptoms, I know I’m out again this month.

This is cycle 10 for us and I think I know in my heart that it won’t happen for us. Just something that I can’t shake. I’ve been feeling so devastated by it that I think my goal of being pregnant by April will stay, if nothing by then I will go back on the pill and put myself out my misery.

Sorry for the pity party for 1. Once AF is here I’m sure I will be more positive for the next cycle!

hope everyone is ok. Bloody freezing here today 🥶

I'll join your sad party... wohooo..... I also feel exactly like you... I think we've been trying for 7 cycles or 8 or something?... Seems like forever... my 41st birthday has come and gone... and nothing.....

Plenty of room for the growing pity party!

I’ve set myself the end point as giving birth by my 40th birthday. By then DH will be coming up to 44 and DS1&2 will be 9 & 7.

if I’d fallen pregnant this month they would have been nearly 8 and 6 which seems madness to be starting again. Our life just seems to be getting easier now and the dream of a little 3rd one further away ☹️

I know what you mean, mine are 8 and almost 4..... but that's not what bothers me, I also think a big age gap is a good thing because the kiddos can help loads and they're much more independent, which is reassuring, it's my age really... I mean, I have friends who had their first at 41 and another that had her second at 43.... but I'm not sure if I'll be able to do such a feat!....

@AnaReis You know I have created a picture in my head how you look because of youtuber Annareid
I’m not sure so short cycle even gives enough time to implant 🤔
Maybe there is something to make it longer, I read about vitamin C having some affect and there was something else I didn’t pay attention to. Best for baby was 29 and half days which is my normal one but what good has it done so far :( now is our 9th cycle. Maybe I should become superstitious as my favourite number is 47 and this cycle started on week 47 and O should happen around new moon and Christmas is the revelation time. But here I am just anxious to read results of my repeated hormonal tests.

Waiting for AF and knowing your not pregnant is worst time of month. Hang in there.

I don't know who that is, but sure isn't me xD
Yeah I was thinking that my cycles might be getting too short for an embryo to properly be able to implant. I'm going to google what I can do, but I think the only solution might be taking progesterone.

WeightoftheWorld · 30/11/2023 20:55

@AnaReis sorry that AF seems to be coming. I just wanted to say I conceived DC1 on the fifth cycle and at the time my cycles were around 23 days and as I've said before, I bleed for 7-10 days of that! So just reassurance that short cycles doesn't necessarily cause problems.

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 30/11/2023 21:21

@AnaReis do you know whether your luteal phase is short or whether you ovulate early or a mixture? My understanding is that as long as your luteal phase is at least 10 days, that’s enough to support implantation. And if it’s shorter than that then progesterone will help!

That's reassuring, thanks for reminding me ❤️ I always thing I'm going into perimenopause or something 😒

I think I ovulate around the 13/14th day, so if AF is showing up on the 24th the cycles are a bit short. I think last time I read, the luteal phase should be a minimum of 10 days to allow for implantation. Today was either 10 or 11 DPO, so I'm right on the limit. I might go back to my old trusty BBT charting for the sake of science 🤔

MrsPepper82 · 01/12/2023 07:58

@AnaReis you’re lucky if bbt does the trick. AF gave 2 days earlier O time according to my bbt. LH was still low low low at that point. I don’t think I will test with advanced opk as early as instruction says- from 9 dpo as I never ovulated earlier than CD 14 in my entire life. Seems like money scam and way to keep enthusiasts busy 😂
So maybe for my oestrogen baseline that one test on CD 10 and then real CD 12 and onwards.
Here is also cold, snow is already everywhere and since we have big yard to keep clean so we could even get out of the garage and obligation to clean sideways next to our house (or we get fee as we live in the city centre) it’s almost 2 hours work for one person. I love that as a hard workout for now but am a bit afraid about possible impacts during implantation. So will be pushing my kids more to that hard part 😝

Rose38 · 01/12/2023 17:10

I started my periods 4 days ago unfortunately...I thought for sure something happened this time but no here I am back at square 1 😔 Totally missed the chance to have a baby in the summer holidays.

We had originally planned to just try until end of the year for a baby but now I'm re-thinking it as a part of me will always feel regret if I didn't give it more of a chance. We have only been trying since about Sept. So 3 cycles have gone...

I've bought a ton of cheap pregnancy tests from Ebay. Really hoping to have better luck this month. Would be amazing to get pregnant before the year ends.

Applesandcake · 01/12/2023 19:16

Hi all!

I’m new here but about to start ttc number 3! In fact I should be in my fertile window in 2 and a bit weeks if my estimations are correct.

I have a DD 5, and a DS 2. I turned 38 recently and am aware in ttc terms I’m at an age where it might take longer.

I’m very excited to start but also dreading the obsession and disappointment.

Applesandcake · 01/12/2023 19:22

AnaReis, you can also increase your progesterone levels and therefore lengthen your luteal phase naturally by taking mega doses on B6. I conceived my son whilst breastfeeding my daughter and had a 9 day luteal phase (breastfeeding lowers your progesterone). I took 100mg of B6 every day and my luteal phase lengthened to 13 days in one cycle! I then conceived my son the following month.

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 01/12/2023 20:17

Hi @Applesandcake - welcome! Great tip on the luteal phase too!

Im similar to you - 5 yo, just turned 3yo, turning 37 next month. We can do this 💪🏻

OP posts:
AnaReis · 01/12/2023 21:43

@Applesandcake welcome! ☺️ I had no idea about the vitamin B6 🤔

Apparently my period didn't show up yet, I had spotting yesterday and today barely any spotting. I sometimes have this, spotting for 2 days before AF. It's going to show tomorrow for sure.
This means this will be a 25 day cycle with an 11/12 day luteal phase, so not bad!

MrsPepper82 · 02/12/2023 12:02

@AnaReis Good news in terms of lp length!
@Rose38 a hug to you 😟
Why so short time frame?
I stay away from tests as this makes me like a failure but I buy a lot of eatable stuff for fertility 😂 And other sorts of tests. Like gluten sensitivity one - no test line there 😊
So no alcohol, veery little caffeine, healthy and sugar free ”diet” (this one is for years now) a lot of physical activity, stress reduction in daily plan. But since it has been part of my lifestyle for longer it doesn’t seem limiting my life.

My last hormone check- I still wait for an answer. I usually go to private health care provider and they have results ready in hours and now I looked at governments funded labs timeline and they give answers in 5 working days. Seems like forever.
And good news is, DH is totally ready to provide his sample also and we just talked about timing- as during my fertile window I wound not like him to avoid me 😝
@Applesandcake hello! Hopefully you don’t stick around for too long 😀

@Applesandcake hello! Hopefully you don’t stick around for too long 😀

We didn't try earlier this year as we had a big summer holiday away planned (lot of travelling involved). And now it just feels like I'm worrying about age... I'll be 39 in a couple of months. Last pregnancy was difficult as I had gestational diabetes and PGP (really bad back problems). Most likely if I get pregnant again, I will have both those issues. The older I get, the harder it will be. My kids are 7 & 4. The 4 year old is due to start school next year in Sept. Just thought if I got pregnant soon then everything would fall into place.

MrsPepper82 · 04/12/2023 09:31

I got my results and to my surprise doctor ordered full hormonal panel and results are even better than the ones I ordered in summer. Also AMH has remained the same for an year and still responds to 30 year old levels 🤗
@Rose38 with health issues such short timeframe is totally understandable. Age and kids age - seems little difference in year - two :D
@AnaReis how are you, did AF even show her ugly face?
And how others are doing 😎

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 04/12/2023 13:26

Hi all! Great news @MrsPepper82!

No real updates from me. Waiting for my medication to arrive. I need to have 2 injections 2 weeks apart and then a repeat blood test. Hoping to get the repeat bloods scheduled before Xmas and if the results are good we can start trying in Jan, which is when we wanted to start again anyway (aiming for autumn baby or later).

Bit of a faff but also giving me the chance to mainline all my supplements etc. I’ve been really good with the no sugar and have lost a couple of kg so finally back to my pre-DC1 weight for the first time!

Hope everyone is feeling Christmassy!

OP posts:
AnaReis · 04/12/2023 23:58

Well AF did show up, I haven't taken the AMH test yet, I already have the kit. I'm curious to see the value.

I'm sort of getting demoralised... Thinking that it just won't happen. I've also been really tired every time I have my period, so I wonder if this is a sign that I should just forget about a third.
