Any other lurkers out there patiently (or impatiently!) waiting to TTC in the new year?

Anything in particular you're doing to prepare?

Forgot to add CD19 today

skyerojo · 22/09/2024 14:54

Hey @CosmoMango of course, welcome. Sounds like you're giving it a great shot. We did that last month too and, while not successful, did find that ditching the OPKs was a good thing for us. Think we'll carry on this approach for a while longer.

And tell me about it, everyone seems to be pregnant at the moment and easily too. Hoping the luck spreads! 🍀

How are your cycles? Regular and everything seeming ok?

CosmoMango · 22/09/2024 17:11

My cycles were regular and then I started pregnacare and it seems to have messed them up! Usually 31 days and ovulation CD 17-19 but no signs this month. Seems like it’s a common issue. Going to ditch them and just take folic acid and vit D

Yes it does seem to be easily for a lot of people. My sister got pregnant first try at 32 and here I am turning 26 and it feels like just a struggle.

skyerojo · 23/09/2024 20:24

@CosmoMango ohhh nooo yes that does sound like quite a common problem on here. And yeh I just take the standard folic acid and vit d too. Just wish someone could tell me it will happen just in its own time so I could relax and enjoy the process a bit more!

I agree @skyerojo if I just knew it would happen I’d feel better. It was rough having a birthday yesterday I felt quite sad and the holiday requests for Christmas will come out soon. I’ll get the worst days as I don’t have kids. I really hoped we’d be able to tell family this Christmas but looking very unlikely we will even be pregnant by Christmas now. Even then it will be Easter before we can see them again. Really praying I either did ovulate or i am going to. We’ve agreed to DTD every day until AF comes just so we don’t miss the vital time. Currently DTD 10 days in a row.

Feeling very down about it all. How are you feeling today?

Timeforacutie · 06/10/2024 21:06

Hi @skyerojo @StampOnTheGround @CosmoMango

Cosmo Mango - I take pregnacare preconception vitamins and they did make my cycle change.

After feeling very sad in August, and basically giving up and not trying much in September - we had sex once in the fertile window only and only because we felt like it , and

I got a positive pregnancy test on Monday !! I’m 5 weeks and 2 days !!

Im so over the moon 🥹

I was so anxious and scared to test after so many months of trying and giving it my all so I waited until my period was 4 days late 17 DPO before testing and wallah - I even got my husband to check because I preferred him to find out and tell me it was negative than me to see the negative test.

but here we are :)

in the meantime I’m still getting my thyroid investigated and they may put me on medication, we will see.

trying to keep on this journey of being chill 😎

thinking of both of you TTC and sending best wishes your way :)

Timeforacutie · 06/10/2024 21:07

And @StampOnTheGround hope your scans are going well! How exciting !

CosmoMango · 06/10/2024 21:09

@Timeforacutie Congrats! I got my positive 10 days ago and I'm almost 5 weeks :) praying a baby sticks

StampOnTheGround · 06/10/2024 21:10

Ahhh Congratulations @Timeforacutie - so pleased for you, it's crazy how life works isn't it and it hammers home it really just needs one time - you just happened to do the perfect time!! Fingers crossed for a smooth 9 months for you.

Keeping everything crossed for you @skyerojo @CosmoMango your times will come soon, sending positivity your way! Hope you're both doing well x

StampOnTheGround · 06/10/2024 21:12

Ahhh that's amazing @CosmoMango - replied at the same time as you! Congratulations to you too!!!

Thanks @Timeforacutie all going well so far 🤞🏻 15 weeks tomorrow and will go for a private sex scan in the next week or two I think!

CosmoMango · 07/10/2024 09:38

Thank you @StampOnTheGround
I am finding it very difficult getting through the first few weeks. I am worrying about miscarriage risk and my first scan. I found out 11 days ago now and still have almost 2 weeks to wait where I'll be almost 7 weeks. It's so difficult

skyerojo · 07/10/2024 16:40

NO WAY!! @Timeforacutie @CosmoMango guys that's amazing news so happy for you!!

Just random positives out of the blue after months of trying?! The best kind of surprise, how lovely.

Hope everyone's having smooth and enjoyable pregnancies. Please keep me updated! I love hearing the updates, especially given think I'm alone ttc on this thread now 😆🫠

This being such a lucky thread brings me lots of hope though, my turn next if I'm lucky 🤞🍀

Ahh @skyerojo so happy for you!!!! 🥹☺️

congratulations!!

have you told your partner?

StampOnTheGround · 16/10/2024 19:54

Ahhhhhh yay @skyerojo - this really has been a lucky thread!

I've got everything crossed for you that those lines keep getting darker 🤞🏻

So exciting!!

skyerojo · 16/10/2024 20:25

Thank you so much 😭 @StampOnTheGround @Timeforacutie

No I haven't told him yet, think I want to be totally sure either way before I tell him what's been happening. They say it doubles every 48 hours right? So I'll test again Friday and then if all looking ok make a plan to tell him over the weekend.

Fingers crossed so hard.

How are you guys getting on? 🤰

Timeforacutie · 06/11/2024 19:57

Hi everyone, hope you are doing ok. @StampOnTheGround @CosmoMango

@skyerojo I hope everything is going smoothly for you.

I went in for a private early pregnancy scan today and unfortunately found out I had miscarried. I am currently 9 weeks 4 days but the foetus? Embryo? Was measuring 8 weeks 5 days. Tomorrow I will call the early pregnancy unit for next steps.

Hope I’m the 1 in 8 for this group that miscarries and that everyone else has a boring, smooth rest of their pregnancies. Sending love xx

CosmoMango · 06/11/2024 19:59

So sorry @Timeforacutie what an awful thing to happen.
I am worried I might be in the same boat, last scan was 8+4 and symptoms have dropped off a cliff. Next scan in a few days at 9+6 but I am very worried

StampOnTheGround · 06/11/2024 20:09

I'm so sorry @Timeforacutie, look after yourself and I hope you get in with EPU fast and are well looked after ❤️

I'm 19 weeks currently and extremely anxious for my 20 week scan next week 😬

Timeforacutie · 06/11/2024 20:54

Thank you @CosmoMango @StampOnTheGround

hope both of your pregnancies continue to go smoothly!

@CosmoMango I really hope that’s not the case - Google can tell you anything so lack of symptoms could mean nothing. Thinking of you

@StampOnTheGround youve made it to 19 weeks, you’ve got this ! Statistics are on your side baby mama

sending love xx

skyerojo · 09/11/2024 16:27

Oh no @Timeforacutie I am so so sorry to hear that. How sad and unfair. I really hope you're ok and are at least being well looked after. Still here to talk any time if it would help ❤️

Having had major worries during ttc that things might not happen as they should, I admit I had totally underestimated the different anxiety that then kicks in, especially in these early weeks. It's really complex isn't it, sending all of you lots of love 💐

Timeforacutie · 16/11/2024 09:04

Hi @skyerojo @StampOnTheGround @CosmoMango

Thank you all for your messages , I am going to be ok.

I had the D&C and I think it was the best possible / least traumatic and most quick option. The worst is they ask you what you want to do with your baby’s remains. Never thought I’d be reading about that.

I had a meeting with my GP where I pushed
to treat my thyroid again as a TSH lower than 2.5 is optimal for TTC and a TSH higher than 4 is associated with increased rates of miscarriage, preeclampsia and gestational diabetes. My TSH had been testing at 5.5, 5.3, 4.7, 4.5, 3.7 this year and my GP had done nothing. I’m grateful they now agreed to start me on a low dose of thyroxine which should bring it down and make it easier to conceive and also increase the chance of a healthy pregnancy and baby. Whilst grateful I’m bummed that when I tested at 4.5 in my first trimester my GP did nothing. However I’ve read stories of undiagnosed thyroid issues in pregnancy and people who have babies who have health issues so in the end I’m grateful they’re treating me. Sorry for so much detail but in case someone else reads this and doesn’t know and it can help them, it’s worth it. Because I didn’t know and I wish I had known earlier and been able to push and advocate for myself . This has been the biggest takeaway for me with the NHS - you have to advocate and push for yourself so hard.

please don’t stop posting here, it brings me joy to read your updates. I’m excited for everyone’s journey and wishing you all well.

xx

CosmoMango · 17/11/2024 21:48

I’m glad they seem to be doing something to help you now @Timeforacutie but really frustrating they didn’t do anything sooner

StampOnTheGround · 18/11/2024 18:32

Well done for pushing @Timeforacutie and I really hope your time is coming soon! I hope you are doing okay.

@skyerojo @CosmoMango - I hope things are progressing well for you both.

I had my 20 week scan last week and everything looks great, extremely grateful!

skyerojo · 19/11/2024 19:03

What a horrible few weeks @Timeforacutie, really feel for you ❤️ so cruel.

And how unbelievably frustrating too to not feel listened to over something so potentially important. Glad you've got them paying attention now.

Really hope it's your turn very very soon 🙏💫
