Around 12dpo BFN- anyone advice?

Peach56 · 17/08/2023 20:46

Sorry if this is a repeat post but I'm struggling with the symptoms and subsequent BFN.

I'm nauseated, cramping on and off, have under arm pain and intermittent headaches. Frequent mood swings. Slight spotting today. It's a rubbish roller coaster to feel all of this then get a negative test.

Is there anyone else out there going through the same rn? Does progesterone cause this?

It's not normal for me to have these symptoms prior to ttc. I use an app at the moment and am going to try OPK tests next month.

Need some advice for how to manage this every month. It's our 2nd month trying. Can't say I'm obsessing over symptoms all the time but pain and sickness is pretty hard to ignore!

Any advice?

Me again!

How are you all getting along? Can I get some tips from anyone who has used/is using the premom app?

I've started doing the ov sticks. I'm confused how to reads the tests. It says on the website a reading over 1 is successful ovulation.

I'm using the easy at home tests, do you only scan the test on the easy at home tab? I scanned it on there and the reading is 0.25 Low.

I also scanned the test on the premom tab and it says 10.0 Low. Which reading should I follow?

Also did BBT around 7am this morning. Does it have to be EXACTLY the same time every day?

Sorry for all the questions, any advice appreciated!

@Peach56 I used premom too, I never seemed to get a peak?! Then I used clear blue digital and it went from nothing to a solid smiley face! Very annoying. In the end, I saved mine up and could see the line getting darker every day. Basically, if the line is as dark (or darker) than the test line, it means you're near/at your peak. One thing I did find is that my first wee didn't really work, so I do it around midday each day. I also kind of know in my body - basically feeling more up for it and more EWCM.

I've also done BBT for years now (natural cycles). I personally just do it when I wake up, and don't stress too much about the time unless I've not slept at all, or had a super long lie in. I usually spend about 7/8 hours in bed, so as long as I've kept to that, I find my BBT maintains a similar reading every day.

How are you getting on in general? This month I've actually stopped doing my BBT and OPK's etc. I got very down last Sun when AF appeared again, and I think I need a couple of months off being so regimented with my monitoring etc. I'm hoping to get a new job (final interview today!!!) so being pregnant over the next couple of months wouldn't be great timing-wise. So we're not going to actively try, but also not avoid it, then see what happens.

Thanks @Tryingtobepatient001 i can imagine it takes it's toll if you've been doing it all for so long a break will probably help. Sorry you've had dip. 💐 But exciting you've got a new job on the horizon, good luck today, you'll smash it!

And what's to say that relaxing and having a new challenge won't help in ttc? Might be just the thing you need. 😊 X

@Peach56 Hello I've been using the Premom app now since July this year, I BBT everyday and use the OPK tests after AF each month to spot my peak.

If your OPK tests are blue and say Easy@Home you'll use this tab to upload your readings, although mine did it automatically. I believe the PreMom tests are purple in colour and will say Premom.

I've found I have a Rapid Onset reading each month, so the day before my 'high' or 'peak' will be very low (0.12-0.27) and all of sudden it will shoot up. My highs and peaks usually occur on CD13. Last month my peak was very high (2.19 and high at 1.38) but this can vary for so many of us. The previous month my peak reading was 1.69 and high 1.36. I also test twice a day around this time and can usually feel ovulation happening from one side.

I don't use FMU it's advised not to, it's best to test between 10am and 8pm I believe but if you can aim for roughly the same times (I try my best with times but never a given and I've been finding my highs and peaks ok)

We are TTC baby #1 so this year has all been new and a journey of discovery for us. I've discovered OPK testing, BBT and found I have learnt so much in the last few months I feel much more in tune with my body/cycle. Trying not to put pressure on myself and my husband though. I have also been taking Pregnacare conception vitamins for 3 months now, we have switched up our diet, exercise regime and aren't huge alcohol drinkers anyway.

Best of luck in your TTC journey 🙂

Aw thanks so much! My current role isn't great at all with lots of travelling, so I'm hoping something closer to home might help me relax. 😀

@ljaynie21 good luck with TTC! Here for you if you want a chat or anything!

ljaynie21 · 22/09/2023 12:59

@Tryingtobepatient001 Thank you so much!
Each month we are trying to take it easy and I'm trying my best not to symptom spot everything. Admittedly really hard at first, every twinge I was thinking about. The last couple of months I've convinced myself we have been successful only for AF to arrive and feel disheartened.

Where are you in your journey if you don't mind me asking of course?

Tryingtobepatient001 · 22/09/2023 14:24

@ljaynie21 of course not! Me and OH have been trying for around a year now, although there are probably about 4 or 5 months in there where I know it probably wasn't going to happen due to one of us being away etc. We're both 38. I've had a scan and bloods through NHS hospital - bloods all fine and AMH good for my age, scan showed good follicles on one ovary but a cyst in the other and possibly a heart shaped uterus. My husband's tests were all fine. We're currently waiting for our consultation, and the plan is to hopefully start IVF in the new year. If we were younger, I'd try and be patient and keep trying naturally for a bit longer, but being 38 I think we need to get into the IVF process, as I worry the longer I leave it the more likely it is not to be successful

ljaynie21 · 22/09/2023 20:04

@Tryingtobepatient001 I wish you both the very best of luck with the process ☺️

I'm 32 and my husband is 34, I always feel I'm on the later scale in having my first but at the same time we have both been focusing on careers, buying our first home and getting married these last few years so I don't regret it but I'm feeling the pressure a little to conceive in the next 9-12 months. Hopefully 🤞🏻 it will happen for us soon.

Maybe now I understand my cycle and body much better I should stop OPK testing. I don't find it stressful to do but possibly removing this step might make me feel more at ease with TTC.

Peach56 · 24/09/2023 10:58

@ljaynie21 thank you for your reply and all the information, it really helps.

I'm not settled into doing it yet and I can already see why it would add more stress to the journey. Hope it gets easier to do as time goes on.

I'm sure it will happen for you soon. 💐

Hi everyone, how's things? @Tryingtobepatient001 how did the interview go? 🤞

Just another quick question (sorry 😕) can anyone advise on the strips? If you get a peak reading (I haven't yet) it says to keep testing. Does that mean you ovulate once the lines start to fade? Or has the peak stayed in your system and you'll ovulate shortly after the first peak?

The line is much darker today, but not a peak.

OP posts:
Tryingtobepatient001 · 25/09/2023 11:59

@Peach56 I've literally just had a call now offering me the job! Very excited 😀Although now I'm thinking - do I need to be careful for a few months (I'm on 3 months probation) or do I just carry on as we have been and take the risk??

Re; strips - from what I understand, once you peak you ovulate within 12-36 hours from then. TBH, I think if you could DTD when you get your peak, then the next couple of days after, you should be well covered?

@ljaynie21 sorry for the late reply! Try not to stress, all my friends had their kids in their early - mid 30's and didn't have issues. I know nothing is given, but I honestly do think it's only in your later 30's you really see a big drop off. And at least you can feel a little more relaxed in that worst case, if you do need help, you have longer to do that process xx

Peach56 · 25/09/2023 12:19

@Tryingtobepatient001 omg congratulations!!! 👏👏👏

Brilliant news!! Re ttc, I'd just crack on. HR can't use pregnancy, a lot of protection there thankfully and you wouldn't probably tell them in the first 3 months? I'm sure they'll be understanding.

@ljaynie21 You're only 32, try not to worry and block out outside pressure get to you. Easier said than done, I know. It will happen. 💐

Re strips, it's so bloody confusing. Thanks for the advice!

OP posts:
ljaynie21 · 25/09/2023 20:30

@Tryingtobepatient001 @Peach56 Thank you 😊 I think I'm at the age where I'm seeing my friends and acquaintances on Facebook/Instagram starting their families but I also know that it will happen exactly when it's right for us. A couple of my friends weren't actively trying either but they caught their eggs on time.

@Peach56 They can be confusing to understand I watched several YouTube channels on the strips and found them really useful. My understanding is the same as @Tryingtobepatient001 though, if you DTD on your peak day and 1-2 days afterwards you're catching the highest days.

You're looking for the test line to be as dark (if not even darker) than the control line. I will pop a snippet of my last month's readings which might help visualise.

Around 12dpo BFN- anyone advice?
Tryingtobepatient001 · 25/09/2023 20:37

@Peach56 thanks so much! I have to hand in my notice tomorrow now 😬

And you’re right, I can’t stress about that too, if it happens then we will make it work and my new job will just have to deal with it!

JC084 · 25/09/2023 21:31

How is everyone doing?
@Tryingtobepatient001 @Peach56 - hope you're both ok!
I'm currently 11DPO and in that agonising waiting period. Had a BFN yesterday and today, but know it may still be too early. Last time I think it was DPO12 or 13 before I got my BFP.
Have cramps this evening though so am guessing that's not a good sign and AF is imminent 😢

Peach56 · 25/09/2023 22:16

Thank you @ljaynie21 such a jump from day 12 to 13!

Ive just had my first high reading. I've been testing around 10.30 am and then in the afternoon it would be fainter. Then I just tested and it's the highest it's been. So confusing. I thought afternoons were meant to be the strongest (according to Google).

Hey ho, at least it's getting darker!

Hi @JC084 nice to hear from you! You're right, it might still be too early. Cramping isn't necessarily a bad sign either. Keep talking on here if it helps with the wait. It's so hard. Is your partner being supportive?

OP posts:
Tryingtobepatient001 · 26/09/2023 08:15

@JC084 keeping everything crossed for you! When is AF due?

JC084 · 26/09/2023 15:36

@Tryingtobepatient001 - according to Flo app in 4 days but I don't know where that's come from as it'll mean a very long cycle this month! Normally I would have expected it now, but I know everything is different after my chemical last month.

@Peach56 thank you! Yes he's supportive, he wants this just as much as I do, though he doesn't like to see me worrying over it. He's more
Of a 'what will be will be' kind of person ... whereas I'm just a worrier 🙈🥺

Peach56 · 01/10/2023 11:11

How are you all doing? I'm 6dpo today and all yesterday I had sharp pains, like pricks on left side. Only lasted a second or so but on and off in the afternoon and evening. Had pink and yellow cm 4 and 5 dpo. No idea what's going on, it seems too early for implantation.

OP posts:
Tryingtobepatient001 · 01/10/2023 21:28

@Peach56 you never know? Will keep everything crossed for you 😊
I’m away on holiday at the moment so just trying to relax and not think about things. Think I ovulated yesterday, but having a month off tracking anything so not 100% sure.

JC084 · 02/10/2023 07:23

Fingers crossed @Peach56

AF turned up for me on Thursday night and so off we go again...

Feeling ok about it, but my 40th birthday is fast approaching and so it does worry me

Peach56 · 04/10/2023 12:30

@Tryingtobepatient001 Holiday sounds exactly what you need. Enjoy and relax!

@JC084 sorry af came. I'm the wrong side of 30 too, I understand the worry.

CrunchieRoo · 29/09/2024 17:27

Hi, I have just made an account to say ( after ttc for 4 months after a chemical pregnancy )

… So this month i tested negative at 10dpo and 12dpo but got a bfp at 14dpo.
so i would defo say try not to test until you miss your period.
with my chemical i got a positive at 9dpo.
so it just shows every pregnancy is different.
