Letrozole first cycle

Hi ladies,

I’m due to start taking letrozole next cycle for the first time, just waiting for my period to start. I’ve got some spotting so reckon it will be in the next couple of days.

I wanted to see if anyone else is at a similar stage and wants to join me on the journey? Or if you’re already taking it I’d love to hear your experiences!

I’ve been reading all about the side effects so I’m a little anxious, but generally just excited to give it a try! My cycles are very irregular, and although I always get a peak OPK recently this hasn’t happened until around CD32, so I have a lot of waiting to do! Really hope the letrozole speeds things up 🤞

@bstrong0805 I had one follicle at 24mm & one at 16mm so they told me to trigger that eve. No idea if it was too late for the bigger one but hopefully ok for smaller one. In the dreaded wait now…

Hey @ChipAndDip how is the spotting going? Not too long now to either come on, or test! I think i'm 6DPO and i looked back on my flo app and at 8DPO i started spotting, so we'll see if that happens again.

@Lovemusic2015 we actually just went ahead & DTD but only 3 times, so who knows if it did anything... we'll find out in about a week lol

@Gkb90 how are you getting on? Any signs either way? Try & keep busy, it's such a horrid wait, i think you're 4 days ahead of me, so I feel you!

@bstrong0805 and @Lovemusic2015 what are these trigger shots? I haven't been offered them or heard of them, apart from on here, so curious to bring it up to my consultant if this round doesn't work

Hi @Obione1 did your spotting start yet? Eeek, imagine if you catch this month with twins!! How would you feel?

Well I got my period today so will be starting letrozole again tomorrow. Round 3 here we go! If this one doesn’t work then next step for me is getting my tubes checked, and eventually a lap and hysteroscopy once I get to the top of a long long wait list.

Hi @Obione1 @ChipAndDip I’m on 12 DPO I was getting some symptoms before but now I’m not really feeling anything which is making me a bit doubtful and wondering if the symptoms were all in my head! I gave in and tested at 9 DPO and got a BFN, I’m trying to hold out till 14 DPO to try again. Hope you both are well x

@ChipAndDip eughhhh so sorry that she's arrived, it's such a disappointment even though in your head you say ' I won't get excited', you just can't help it.
Nothing for me yet, I just worked backward & I started spotting in the evening of 8DPO last month, which is today... So bracing myself for that. I've not felt the same symptoms i did last time, but there is time and even as I type this I'm feeling the start of symptoms.
If I had twins, I'd be over the moon but can't even get to that thought in my head yet lol

@Gkb90 no spotting or period yet..? I'd be the same!!

@Obione1 nope nothing! And I’m feeling completely normal so I’m assuming I haven’t been successful this cycle.. going to have to wait for miss AF to arrive then start my second cycle of letrozole

@Obione1 that’s about the same as us - plenty of times 🤞🏻🤞🏻the trigger shot from my understanding forces ovulation to happen. As with my pcos they are now thinking I don’t ovulate every month. First time trying it so worth a shot!

@ChipAndDip sorry to hear your period has arrived. Please be kind to yourself, allow yourself time to wallow & then bounce back for the next round ❤️

@Gkb90 its a tough zone to be in. Still trying to be positive but trying not to get your hopes up too much either. You’re still in the game!

I just finished our IUI today so going into the dreaded TWW. Sperm sample was not as good as previous two times, this time we had 2% morphology but a high count so we still went ahead. Trying hard to remain positive. Starting progesterone cyclogest suppositories today. Will keep you posted !

@ChipAndDip how are you getting on? Did you start your third cycle of Let?

I'm now 12 DPO and nothings happened, but according to my app I'm due on tomorrow, so I'm sure she'll arrive 🙄

@Obione1 havs you tested at all? I’m 10dpo. They told me not to test before 12dpo as trigger could give a false positive. My period should be here Friday so I’ll just wait it out & see. Not feeling overly optimistic but have a small bit of hope 🤞🏻

Oh my gosh, how have I missed so many posts!

@Obione1 yes I started the let on Saturday, so just got to take it tonight and tomorrow night. I’ve had a few dizzy spells and hot flushes, but only at night so all good. Fingers crossed that AF doesn’t show up! Will you test tomorrow or wait until Thursday if not?

@ChipAndDip that's so odd, I had that on my first round & I told the DR and she said ' Letrozole has no side effects'.... I was like I'm sure I had some lol
I'm due on tomorrow, so think i'll wait?

I am doing fine - only 4 days post IUI so not really looking for anything atm. Trying to eat healthy and excercise and not stress too much. Easier said than done though ! Docs have asked me to test on 8th September so have some time to go !

@ChipAndDip I got the dizzy spells too. But nauseous but not sure if that’s the progesterone or the metformin. The things we do! Hopefully this is your month 🤞🏻

@Obione1 the very best of luck, really hope tomorrow brings good news for you. The temptation to test is hard to resist but the disappointment of negatives has me determined not to do it to myself.

@bstrong0805 great to be in the 2ww now anyway even if it is a killer. We may consider IUI if 3 cycles of this doesn’t work so I’m hoping it’s successful for you 🤞🏻

@ChipAndDip @Lovemusic2015 @Obione1 hi lovely’s, I’m still waiting on AF to arrive I’m on CD 30 and my cycles are usually 29-31 days last month had a 32 day cycle so just waiting on AF to come so I can get started on my second cycle of letrozole, when you don’t want AF to come she always shows up but when you’re waiting on her she takes her time! I know I haven’t been successful as I tested neg on 10 and 13 DPO unfortunately :(

Sorry for the negative tests @Lovemusic2015 @Gkb90 it sucks doesn’t it 😞 Have you both got your periods now?

I’ve finished my letrozole tablets so now just waiting for fertile window to open (should be next week). Going to give it all we got his month but I’m not feeling that hopeful tbh. But I’m not going to let it get me down!

I really hope we all get our good news soon, would be lovely to see some more success stories x

I got a positive test on Wednesday, which is amazing, I've got a scan in 2 weeks to see if it's ok and viable. Until then just trying to relax and hope all goes ok and it sticks 🙏

I'm now 14dpo. Usually only have a 12 day luteal phase so I don’t know what’s going on. Negative easy@home text yesterday. So just waiting for my period to arrive.

Did letrozole affect / change period length for anyone??

@Gkb90 this is my third cycle now, it’s absolutely flown by. Let’s hope the good news continues for us this month! ✨

@Lovemusic2015 my period arrived at 14dpo for both let cycles so far, but they have been much shorter (3 days of proper bleed, if you don’t count the spotting). Hopefully yours won’t be much longer so you can get going again 🤞

I am on 7dpo and really feel rubbish - first round of letrozole so I don’t know if it is the medication or the trigger shot but I have been feeling exhausted and have heart burn and have lost my appetite. Can’t be pregnancy symptoms realistically so early so not getting my hopes up.

For me cycles also got longer and flow was less because of progesterone suppositories I was using last cycle. Hardly 3 days of bleed.

@bstrong0805 sorry you’ve been feeling rubbish, are you feeling any better now?

Question for you all - has anyone used clear blue advanced digital OPKs while on let? Boots was out of my usual OPKs so I had to get the CB ones. I got a flashing smiley today (CD11) but after buying them I read that they might give false ‘high’ readings if you’re taking ovulation induction. I’m not expecting to ovulate until Sunday so didn’t expect to see a flashing smiley so soon, but maybe I’ll just flash for a few extra days!

@ChipAndDip i always struggle with those ones - you have to establish the baseline for those properly otherwise it is all over the place. Also a lot of people get flashing smileys for many days (more than 3-4 or even more) before they get to the solid smiley which then signifies the peak. I had a false solis smiley on that last month so have just moved backed to the simple sticks.
